Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is almost out, and everyone is remaining cautiously optimistic about another stab at an ATLA adaptation.
Just in, Netflix has dropped a new clip from the show that gives us a look at the bending—specifically between fire and earth. Check out Zuko saving Iroh in this clip:
The clip essentially showcases both kinds of bending going at each other, with Zuko doing a lot of the physical attacks. We don’t expect Iroh to do that much kicking and jumping around, but the clip does showcase that he’s still a very powerful bender, and we even got to see him setting fire to a chain and using it for attack.
- Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender was bashed by fans for having some lackluster bending; whereas the animated series had everyone bending at each other at the same time, the live-action movie made it look like everyone was just taking turns attacking.
Admittedly, it’s still the same ‘turn-based RPG’ feel with this clip, but I am hoping that they saw that criticism of the first movie and are planning to address it when it comes to the choreography for the show.
I’ll admit, myself, like a lot of fans, are pretty skeptical about the series since original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko left, but I am hoping that the series will finish what it set out to do.
Get ready for Avatar: The Last Airbender when it starts streaming on Netflix on Feb. 26.
