Jeff Goldblum’s Zeus is a Vengeful God in Full Trailer for Netflix’s KAOS

Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians may be too kid-friendly for some audience’s taste, but Netflix is set to deliver their own take on modern Greek gods with the series KAOS.

The show is set to premiere by the end of the month, and we have a full trailer showing the wrath of Zeus on the puny mortals. Check this out:

Official Trailer for KAOS, starring Jeff Goldblum as Zeus: king of the Gods, ruler of the world. The Gods of Olympus are just one big, dysfunctional family — unaware of the mortals with the power and fight to bring them down. Change is afoot with Riddy and Orpheus at the heart of it all.

Though Goldblum may be at the top billing as the god Zeus, the series also includes other great cast members including Suzy Eddie Izzard (Lachy), Debi Mazar (Medusa), and Billie Piper (Cassandra).

Besides Mount Olympus, the series also gives us a look at modernized locations that only existed in Greek Myth—like the Underworld. Though we don’t see a River Styx, it does look like Charon’s boat is now a cruiseliner, with all the dead lining up to get to the afterlife.

There have been new takes on the Greek gods lately with shows like Blood of Zeus and games like Hades, but KAOS is one of the few that actually puts the gods in a modern context. Besides Percy Jackson, the only other show I could think of that put ancient gods in a modern setting as Starz American Gods, and even that series fizzled out toward the end.

Hopefully KAOS won’t go out the same way. Catch it when it premieres on Netflix on Aug. 29.
