Find Out Where Luck is Made in New Trailer for LUCK

Disney, Pixar, and Illumination may be dominating the animation market, but Skydance Animation wants to throw their name into the mix. Their first animated feature, Luck, is set to debut on Apple TV+ this August, and we have a new trailer featuring this fantasy world of good and bad luck.

Check out the trailer for Luck down here:

Here’s the story description:

From Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation, Luck is a story about Sam Greenfield: the unluckiest person in the world. Suddenly finding herself in the never-before-seen Land of Luck, she must unite with the magical creatures there to turn her luck around.

Besides the leads Eva Noblezeda and Simon Pegg, the movie also features voices from Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, John Ratzenberger, Colin O’Donoghue, and Adelynn Spoon.

The premise pretty much sounds like a Pixar in the same vein as Inside Out, but you can’t help but think that it’s also drawing from Netflix shows Big Mouth and Human Resources—what with the idea of these kooky creatures all controlling humans through some secret organization.

If I do have a note, I guess the character of Sam Greenfield looks pretty plain. I mean, films like Luca and Turning Red were able to give us leads that were very visually distinct; and Sam kind of just looks like the usual Disney princess peg that was popularized by Elsa and Anna in Frozen.

But that’s just me. I’m sure that Sam is specially written in her own unique way. Hopefully some kids will be able to connect to her.

Luck hits Apple TV+ this coming Aug. 5.
