Watch the Animatronic Spider-Man in Action at Disney’s Avengers Campus

After Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland is set to go all out with their Avengers campus. A bunch of new attractions were just added to the park, and one of them is an animatronic, web-swinging Spider-Man.

Watch Spider-Man down here:

Just in case it isn’t clear, the only animatronic part of the Spider-Man performance is when he makes a massive jump from one tower to the next. The rest of the performance is done by a stuntperson, and there’s even some wirework done to get Spidey on the streets, interacting with visitors.

Fans had gotten a tease for this Spider-Man way back in the beginning of 2020, but with the pandemic and all, robo-Spidey had to make his debut much much later. While the stunt looks fantastic, I kind of wished that they did a lot more with it. Then again, they can only use the robot so much before anyone realizes that it’s an actual robot. It’s great that they have some actual wirework with the actor, as well, as it adds to the performance overall.

With Spider-Man: No Way Home set to hit theaters in December, it’s great that Disney was able to strike a deal with Sony that would allow them to keep sharing the character. We don’t know how long they plan to keep going, but the deal is agreed to have been a big win-win on both studios’ part.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to come out on Dec. 17. You can visit Spidey now in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park.
