Harry Potter may have had The Cursed Child, but Netflix is set to expand the Stranger Things lore with a prequel dubbed Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The play is set to debut on London’s West End sometime later in the year, and we just got our first teaser.

The teaser doesn’t really give us a look at anything in the play, but it does tease that the story could have hints for the upcoming final season.
Here’s the synopsis for the show:
Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.
Though we get the reveal that Henry Creel is Vecna in the series, in this timeline, he’s only 12-years-old. While we expect the characters of Hopper, Bob, and Joyce to be teens, at least we still have that ‘kid with weird powers’ element with Creel—kind of like an anti-Eleven.
With the stage play expecting to premiere sometime this year, hopefully we get a look at the cast soon. It’s going to be a bummer that the show won’t be on TV, but hopefully Netflix will release a live recording of the play, just like Disney+ did with Hamilton.
No specific release date has been set for Stranger Things: The First Shadow, but you can catch the first four seasons of the show now streaming on Netflix.
