Game of Thrones may have fizzled out in the end, but some fans are hopeful for the upcoming prequel House of the Dragon. HBO has dropped an inside look at the making of the series, and we have interviews with showrunners Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal, as well as Thrones author George R.R. Martin.
Watch the featurette for House of the Dragon down here:
With the original series ramping up several seasons till we got full on battles and grown dragons, it looks like House of the Dragon is going to have that huge budget already, with the dragons flying around as well as the heavily populated sieges.
Personally, I was a fan that enjoyed the earlier seasons for their character work and political intrigue, so I am hoping that we’ll still be able to see some of that in HOTD. I mean, the Targaryens alone can be a huge source of drama, but I think this show needs its own version of problematic Lannisters. Will it be the Hand of the King’s family the Hightowers? How about the Targaryen cousins the Valeryons?
Ever since Game of Thrones ended, there has just been relentless bile on the final season, and frankly I think it dampens enjoying what was great about the series. Hopefully House of the Dragon manages to get more people onboard for the world of Westeros; and maybe it can even plant seeds for that Jon Snow sequel with Kit Harington.
Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon comes to HBO Max on Aug. 21.
