Watch First Trailer for ‘ted’ Prequel Series

Seth MacFarlane is best known for being the voice behind Family Guy’s Peter Griffin, but he’s also the same person behind immature, trash-talking teddy bear, Ted. The sequel may not have been so well-received, but we are getting a prequel this January, and now Peacock has released the first trailer.

Watch the trailer for “ted” with a small t here:

Here’s the official synopsis for the show:

In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.

If you remember the first movie, the character of John was originally played by Mark Wahlberg. We don’t know if Wahlberg is going to make any kind of appearance on the show, but it would be great if he made some kind of cameo as present John.

As for the series, it does look like it’s leaning on a lot of the same kind of humor that you can squeeze out of a raunchy teddy bear. Despite that though, I have a feeling that ted is still going to have the emotional weight that managed to ground the original movie.

Watch out for ted when it comes out Jan. 11, 2024.
