Watch First Trailer for Scott Pilgrim the Anime

It’s been more than a decade since the release of Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but no matter how accurate the movie tried to be to the source material, a lot of scenes from the comic were still left on the cutting room floor.

Now Netflix is planning to release an anime adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim, and we just got our first trailer. Watch this:

What’s great is, the show has managed to bring back all the original cast members to reprise their characters. Not only did they get Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, but they also got supporting cast members like Kieran Culkin, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and even Anna Kendrick.

For anyone who’s read the Scott Pilgrim comic, they will know that a lot of huge plot points were dropped in the film to make everything more cohesive. A lot of character development for supporting cast members was cut, and the twin evil exes actually had more speaking roles in the manga. Not to mention, the ending with Gideon Graves was a lot more bombastic, fitting of something that’s an ode to the anime genre.

We don’t know how the anime will change things, but it would definitely be great if it could stick closer to the source material, and then add even more to it. Scott Pilgrim was definitely a unique IP, and it’s great that we’re going to be getting more of it after so long.

The Scott Pilgrim anime is set to premiere on Netflix on Nov. 17.
