The Silent Hill franchise from Konami may be have been dormant since they cancelled Hideo Kojima’s game, but the studio is now ready to move forward with some new entries as well as a remake of one of the most celebrated entries in the franchise.
Silent Hill 2 is currently in development, and thanks to State of Play, we have a new look at the game. Check this out:
Here’s the official description for the game:
Take a look at new gameplay footage in this trailer, including what to expect from the improved and modernized combat.
Having received a letter from his deceased wife,
James heads to where they shared so many memories, in the hope of seeing her one more time: Silent Hill. There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her…
My name… is Maria,” the woman smiles. Her face, her voice… She’s just like her.
Experience a master-class in psychological survival horror―lauded as the best in the series―on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.
With the original Silent Hill 2 coming out for the PlayStation 2 era of consoles, fans are expecting this remake to add a whole new modern spin on a classic story.
Of course, when it comes to these remakes, there is always two sides that the studio could go; whether they create a whole new game with some original elements, or just polish up the look and gameplay of the original.
Either way, Konami should expect some complaints, but as long as the remake can stand on its own, I think a lot of fans will be pleased.
No specific release date has been announced for Silent Hill 2, but the game is now available for wishlist and it’s possible it could come out later this year or sometime early 2025.
