Milana Vayntrub Reprising Squirrel Girl for Marvel Rivals

Milana Vayntrub may have never gotten the chance to showcase her Squirrel Girl when New Warriors was cancelled, but she’s managed to keep playing the character through several animated iterations.

Now news has it that Vayntrub is going to be bringing the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl to one massive platform later this week. As per the latest character reveal for Marvel Rivals, Vayntrub will be voicing the part of Doreen Green in the game. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the character:

“Despite being loved and surrounded by her BFFFS (Best Furry Friends Forever), Doreen Green had always questioned the root of her powers. With time, she embraced her Squirrel-like abilities, no matter their origin, and set her heart on becoming the best super hero there is.

“With her mammalian powers and ability to communicate with squirrels, Doreen Green takes down the toughest opponents as the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. With her unrivaled agility, lightning fast reflexes, and acorn bombs, she’s ready to help her friends with a bucktooth smile on her face!”

Vayntrub was originally cast as Squirrel Girl back in 2017 with New Warriors expected to premiere on Freeform in 2018. Freeform couldn’t find any place to put the series and tried to shop it to other markets; but the project was officially scrapped by 2019.

Either way, Vayntrub was considered to be the star of the cast. Not only did she seem like a perfect choice for the ever-optimistic Doreen, she had also gotten popular thanks to her charming AT&T commercials.

With Marvel having a penchant for fanservice and Squirrel Girl getting the spotlight, maybe there’s room for Squirrel Girl in live-action somewhere in the future. Put her in Ms. Marvel season 2 if that ever happens.

Catch Squirrel Girl in Marvel Rivals when the game launches on Dec. 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
