Watch This Trippy Trailer for Netflix’s It’s What’s Inside

The horror genre has been evolving in a very interesting direction in the past few years, and we’ve gotten some great entries this year with films like Longlegs and Abigail. Though there won’t be a new season of Stranger Things this October, Netflix is going to give fans a look at this trippy film they acquired from Sundance.

Check out It’s What’s Inside:

The official synopsis for the film reads:

A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges.

The movie is a debut for writer/director Greg Jardin who is said to come from a music video background. While the premise of the movie isn’t that clear, the trailer itself showcases some very interesting visuals and vibes—which should be the main hook for It’s What’s Inside.

Some critics have been comparing the movie to Talk to Me, but from a visual perspective, the colors look pretty similar to another experimental series that Netflix did starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill—2018’s Manic.

If you’ve been following horror films for the past few years, it does seem that there’s been an emergence of more experimental movies that seem to instill horror in a more primal level. Of course, there is also the case of some classic horror movies with films like Smile and prequels for The Omen and The Exorcist.

When it comes to It’s What’s Inside though, I think this film is going to be relying more on the vibes than some actual scary monster.

It’s What’s Inside premieres on Netflix on Oct. 4.
