The film has two huge stars at the helm with Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, and we just got a new teaser. Check this out:

The official description of the film reads:

Set in a retro-futuristic past, this blockbuster adventure from filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo follows Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown), an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West in search of her younger brother. Joining her on the journey is a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter (Chris Pratt).

Besides Pratt and Brown, the movie has also managed to gather an impressive roster of cast members which include Jason Alexander, Stanley Tucci, Ke Huy Quan, and Giancarlo Esposito. There are even voice cameos from the likes of Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Alan Tudyk, Jenny Slate, and Hank Azaria (to name a few),

I’ll admit, the Russos haven’t had a hit since Avengers: Endgame, and this return for Doomsday seems like them just going back to what feels safe. After this trailer though, I have to admit the concept is pretty neat, and Brown and Pratt are solid actors—so Electric State has a lot of great things going for it.

I just hope that Netflix allows for a theatrical release sometime next year, because this honestly looks like it deserves a theatrical experience.

Catch The Electric State when it comes to Netflix on March 14, 2025.

Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio Team-Up in First Trailer for Karate Kid: Legends https://www.geekfeed.com/first-trailer-for-karate-kid-legends/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 18:34:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85701 The kids of Cobra Kai may be grown-up now, but the Karate Kid franchise is now gearing up for the next generation of butt-kicking teens.

Karate Kid: Legends is set to release next year, and a new trailer has been dropped featuring Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, and the new series lead Ben Wang. Check this out:

The official description reads:

In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere.

When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.

The story pretty much mirrors the original Karate Kid where they take a bullied young teen and turn him into a martial arts fighter. With the story having taken place in Los Angeles and China, now the story is set in the Concrete Jungle of New York City.

I have to admit, Cobra Kai feels like the definitive sequel to the Karate Kid franchise, but this one does have an interesting premise that it brings together the worlds of the Macchio-led universe and the one that once starred Jaden Smith.

So far, Ben Wang does seem like he has the chops to be the next lead after Xolo Mariduena. I just hope that the movie acknowledges Johnny Lawrence one way or another.

Karate Kid: Legends is set to hit theaters on May 30, 2025.

Warfare Trailer: Alex Garland Co-Directs with Iraq War Veteran Ray Mendoza https://www.geekfeed.com/warfare-trailer-alex-garland-co-directs/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 17:59:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85687 After Civil War, it seemed like director Alex Garland was going to go back to his usual sci-fi niche, but it does seem like he’s gotten bit by the modern warfare genre bug.

Just in, A24 has dropped a new trailer for Warfare which is co-directed by Garland and an Iraq war veteran Ray Mendoza—who also wrote the script. Check this out:

The simple tagline for the movie reads: “‘Warfare’ embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory… A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”

The part of Mendoza in the film is played by D’pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. Other stars in the movie include Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Joseph Quinn (Fantastic Four: First Steps), Charles Melton (May December), Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun), and Noah Centineo (Black Adam).

Just based on the trailer and Civil War, we know that Garland can definitely capture the whole warfare vibe. It’s just different this time around with Mendoza co-directing because he was actually in that story, and his recollection is more vivid and authentic.

Admittedly, there have been a lot of films centered on the whole war in Iraq, but this one looks like it’s going to be a more experimental take which focuses on one specific mission that goes awry—plus it’s told in real-time.

Warfare is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2025.

Adamantium Gets Name-Dropped in Latest Look at Captain America: Brave New World https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-look-at-captain-america-brave-new-world/ Mon, 16 Dec 2024 14:58:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85646 It looks like some rumors are coming true for Captain America: Brave New World.

We know that the movie has been getting constant rewrites and reshoots, but one rumored plot point for the film is the discovery of the invulnerable metal Adamantium which is said to be located in the island of Tiamut.

Just in, a new look at the movie has been dropped, and it confirms that Adamantium has become a highly coveted resource—almost the same as how the MCU treats Vibranium. Check this out:

Admittedly, this is more generically action-heavy compared to previous versions of the film, but it also does give a tease for Staniel Stern a.k.a. The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) who seems to have half of his head enlarged thanks to his encounter with Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.

He’s been missing in the universe since 2008, but a lot of people think that his emergence as the secret puppetmaster of the government could be an interesting take on Hulk villain The Leader. Who knows, maybe President Ross is just a victim in all of this when he ends up being turned into the Red Hulk.

Like a lot of fans, I’m admittedly very worried about Brave New World. Though I believe they started with a solid story, the constant reshoots and rewrites after poor test screenings may have resulted in a by-the-numbers film that barely represents the story they originally wanted to tell.

I’m still hoping Sam Wilson’s Captain America debut is a success, but as of now, fans are worried that Marvel is going to mess this one up—especially with all the hype surrounding the project.

Catch Captain America: Brave New World when it comes to cinemas on Feb. 14.

Naughty Dog Unveils Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet https://www.geekfeed.com/naughty-dog-intergalactic-the-heretic-prophet/ Mon, 16 Dec 2024 14:50:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85610 Naughty Dog has come a long way from Crash Bandicoot with hyper-realistic titles like Uncharted and The Last of Us; and thanks to The Game Awards, they’ve just unveiled their newest incoming IP—Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Check out the trailer:

The official description reads:

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the newest franchise in development for the PlayStation 5 console from Naughty Dog, the studio behind acclaimed series like The Last of Us and UNCHARTED. Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.

Though sci-fi properties are dime-a-dozen nowadays, Intergalactic is very specific in that it makes use of retro sci-fi—in that everything is kind of a blend of the future if it was imagined in the 80s. There’s a lot of analog technology in Jordan’s ship, and you can even see her making use of CDs.

It’s said that the game is inspired heavily by sci-fi properties like Akira and Cowboy Bebop, and even director Neil Druckmann states that it’s the ‘deepest’ Naughty Dog has ever went when it comes to gameplay.

The cast is led by Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and also includes the likes of Troy Baker, Kumail Nanjiani, and Tony Dalton. It’s also worth mentioning that the music is coming from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, members of Nine Inch Nails and recent providers for the score of Tron: Ares and Challengers.

No release date has been set for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but fans are hoping the game comes out sometime in 2025 for the PS5.

Novocaine: The Boys’ Jack Quaid Can’t Literally Get Hurt in New Action Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/novocaine-the-boys-jack-quaid-in-trailer/ Mon, 16 Dec 2024 14:23:49 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85642 Jack Quaid is best known for playing everyman Hughie in The Boys, but now he’s set to take the action spotlight in the upcoming action movie Novacaine.

Here’s the first trailer:

Here’s the official logline for the movie: When the girl of his dreams (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate (Jack Quaid) turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.

The movie is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen who are best known for their films Villains, Body, and Significant Other. Besides Quaid and Midthunder, the movie also has appearances from Betty Gabriel, Jacob Batalon, and Matt Walsh (the good one).

Though we’ve gotten a lot of action/revenge movies over the past few years like John Wick and Monkey Man, this one has a new twist to the story in that the lead Novocaine is just an everyman, but he can’t really feel pain.

Quaid seems to be the perfect choice for this character seeing that he’s mostly considered out of place in these action franchises, but that doesn’t mean he can’t kick butt when he needs to. It’s also funny that they’re pairing him with MCU Spider-Man’s Jacob Batalon, since Quaid has also done a small voice role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse; he was Spider-Gwen’s original Peter (the one that transformed into The Lizard).

Watch out for Novocaine when it comes to cinemas on March 14.

Rick Holds Auditions in Teaser for Rick and Morty’s Next Season https://www.geekfeed.com/auditions-in-teaser-for-rick-and-mortys-s08/ Fri, 13 Dec 2024 11:51:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85596 The Rick and Morty train continues to chug along, and the next season is set to come out sometime in 2025. Just in, a new teaser has been dropped, and it has Rick throwing some auditions for a character that the show is constantly shitting on—and it’s not Morty.

Check this out:

Though this can be chalked off as another bit where Rick just hates Jerry, a meta lens would read it as a joke about the recasting of original Rick and Morty voice actor Justin Roiland with Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden.

It’s ironic that Rick (voiced by Cardoni) is looking for someone to replace Jerry, since Rick’s voice actor was replaced; and Jerry is still pretty much voiced by his original voice actor Chris Parnell. In fact, the only original voice actors that are still attached to the show are Parnell, Spencer Grammer (Summer), and Sarah Chalke (Beth).

Though it was a huge surprise to fans that the show would go on without Roiland, a lot of reports have come out that the series has actually been functioning very well without him, and he’s been out of the writers’ room for a while, just providing the voices of Rick and Morty. After the whole scandal though, the series was finally able to cut the chord with him, and they found an excuse to find new voices to do the series leads.

It’s kind of funny how they decided to get two different people to voice Rick and Morty this time, so if one of them got cancelled (or died), they wouldn’t lose two characters.

No release date has been set for Rick and Morty Season 8, but hopefully it comes out early 2025.

Marvel Rivals Drops Trailer Featuring Every MCU Skin (So Far) https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-drops-trailer-featuring-every-mcu-skin-so-far/ Fri, 13 Dec 2024 10:18:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85577 With NetEase planning to make as much money as they can with cosmetics, it was only natural for Marvel Rivals to have a roster of skins as plenty as the variety of action figures that each character possesses.

One huge draw of the Marvel brand has definitely been the movies, so Rivals has decided to drop a trailer showcasing all the MCU skins that are currently available in the game. Check these out:

From the get-go we have skin for Spider-Man (No Way Home), Iron Man (Avengers: Endgame), Thor (Love and Thunder), Loki (Loki Season 2), Scarlet Witch (Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness), Black Widow (from her solo movie), Namor (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Wolverine (from Deadpool and Wolverine), and the playable heroes from the Guardians of the Galaxy (from GOTG Vol. 3).

With more characters expected to be introduced in both the MCU and Marvel Rivals, we should expect more crossover skins to come to the game soon. MCU Iron Man himself has several different suits to choose from, and  even pre-MCU properties like Spider-Man and X-Men have a lot of different skins that fans should want to get their hands on.

After such a long drought of great Marvel games, Rivals feels like the W that Marvel needed after the recent slump of MCU films in the box office. Hopefully they get their groove back soon; and in the meantime, I’m just enjoying how Rivals has been able to put the spotlight on obscure characters like Squirrel Girl and Jeff the Land Shark.

Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.

First Look at Incoming Gundam Series GQuuuuuuX from Evangelion Creators https://www.geekfeed.com/first-look-at-incoming-gundam-series-gquuuuuux/ Fri, 06 Dec 2024 11:01:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85521 Any fans of Mobile Suit Gundam knows that the series gets an alternate timeline reboot once in a while, and now the next iteration of this classic series is going to be coming from the creatives behind the cult classic Evangelion.

Check out Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX trailer:

Though Sunrise is the studio that mostly deals with the Gundam franchise, this one is going to be in collaboration with Studio Khara—the same studio that was founded by Eva creator Hideaki Anno and delivered the Evangelion Rebuild movies.

Besides Anno, the series also includes contributions from other creatives like Mahiro Maeda, Ikuto Yamashita, and Shingo Abe. The director is also Kazuya Tsurumaki who had worked on the Evangelion films as well as the series KILL la KILL and FLCL—beloved classics in the anime fandom.

Just looking at the designs for GQuuuuuuX, a lot of fans can already see the influence, from the character design to the look of the mechs. While Gundam’s definitely have their own signature feel to them, it does look like this show is embracing the semi-organic look of the EVA mechs. Good look to any 12-year-olds who want to draw that in their notebooks.

A special edited version of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX – Beginning- is expected to hit Japanese theatres on Jan. 17. The anime series is set to come out with regular episodes after that. No release dates have been announced for overseas release yet.

Is Snow White Going the Freedom Fighter Route? New Trailer Suggests https://www.geekfeed.com/is-snow-white-going-the-freedom-fighter-route/ Fri, 06 Dec 2024 09:46:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85502 Rachel Zegler had played the proto-Katniss in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but is she going to be doing the same thing for Disney’s Snow White remake.

Check out the new trailer here:

Though the original Snow White was considered to be the blueprint for every fairy tale that Disney told moving forward, it does look like the live-action version is going to be adding more elements to the story. Besides the dwarves having a more fantastical mine to dig in, the movie looks to be delving more into the relationship between Snow White and the Queen, with some of them even sharing scenes before Snow decides to run from the castle.

What’s also curious is that it looks like the movie is also going to be adding an ‘oppressed citizens’ subplot and show just how evil the queen really is. In the original, it can be surmised that she only really cared about looking nice, but the trailer has Snow White trying to rile up the citizens to fight against her step-mother.

I’ll say, it’s certainly a creative decision, but Disney has already been milking this reboot trend for a while; and no matter how many critics bash it, they always manage to make money in the box office.

As a Rachel Zegler fan though, I’m almost sure that she’s going to blow everyone away during the musical numbers.

Watch out for Snow White when it comes to cinemas on March 21, 2025.

Watch First Trailer for Prequel Dexter: Original Sin https://www.geekfeed.com/first-trailer-for-prequel-dexter-original-sin/ Sat, 30 Nov 2024 10:44:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85446 Showtime’s Dexter ran from 2006 to 2013, and though a lot of people like to complain about how the series ended badly, Showtime has decided to go backwards and just tell a story about Dexter’s beginning.

Check out the trailer for Dexter: Original Sin:

Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Golden Globe® winner Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The series has been able to gather a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Geller. What’s interesting is they’ve also attached the original Dexter Michael C. Hall as the narrator for the show (dubbed ‘Dexter’s Inner Voice’)

Like I said, a lot of people weren’t too pleased with how the original show ended. There was a revival back in 2021 called Dexter: New Blood, and though it was considered to be the series back in original form, the ending was considered a big fumble as well.

With fans knowing where Dexter is headed in the future, it’s going to be interesting to put together the dots as he becomes one of TV’s most beloved sociopath serial killers.

Watch out for Dexter: Original Sin when it premieres on Paramount+ on Dec. 13.

Did the Latest Sonic 3 Trailer Just Spoil the A Major Plot Point? https://www.geekfeed.com/sonic-3-trailer-just-spoil-the-a-major-plot-point/ Thu, 28 Nov 2024 09:38:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85386 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been hyping up the clash between Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog, plus the unlikely team-up with a down-and-out Dr. Robotnik. However, with the latest trailer released, it looks like Paramount was ready to spoil what looks to be a major plot point.

Check this out (and remember I told you it possibly spoils the movie):

As per the latest trailer, it does look like the Robotniks are going to team-up and betray Sonic in the movie. Though it can be expected for a character like Robotnik, you would think that him teaming up with Sonic was pushing the point of how dangerous Shadow is going to be.

Admittedly, Shadow is considered more of an antihero, so maybe the movie is just confirming to the fans that he won’t be the ultimate villain in the film; but then again that kind of spoils his arc in Sonic 3. By the looks of it, it’s just going to be another Knuckles story where Sonic and Shadow fight, realize they’re not so different, and team-up to fight Robotnik.

Then again, this is just a kids’ franchise, so we shouldn’t expect anything like Lord of the Rings when it comes to plot. Either way, a lot of fans are happy to see Shadow finally make it to the big screen, and the movie promises to deliver everything that made the character popular—like shadow using a motorcycle and guns.

Catch Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in theatres on Dec. 20.

Stitch is Ready to Wreak Havoc in First Teaser for Live-Action Lilo & Stitch https://www.geekfeed.com/first-teaser-for-live-action-lilo-stitch/ Thu, 28 Nov 2024 09:30:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85382 Lilo & Stitch was a Disney gem from their experimental era, and the movie is set to have a live-action remake coming out next year. Just in, Disney has dropped a first teaser featuring their CG version of stitch.

Check this out:

The scene is a parody of an original moment from the animated movie where Stitch rebuilds a miniature San Franciso in Lilo’s room and slowly destroys it like a miniature kaiju. This scene in particular:

We don’t know if Stitch is going to be doing the same thing in the live-action version, but it does look like they’re going to be changing it so that he’s destroying a bunch of sandcastles instead of a makeshift diorama in Lilo’s room.

I’ll admit, it’s a fun homage, but it still doesn’t hold a candle to Disney’s original campaign for the animate movie where they literally insert Stitch into classic scenes from the Disney renaissance period. Check these out:

Now that’s movie marketing.

Originally Lilo & Stitch was marketed as a straight-to-streaming movie, but ever since the Bob Iger re-takeover, it looks like the movie is going to have a theatrical release. Though the film didn’t get the same status as Disney renaissance classics, I’m sure there’s a bunch of millenials out there who would love to go back on a Hawaiian roller coster ride next year.

Lilo & Stitch live-action is set to come out in theatres on May 23, 2025.

The Guys Meet the Bad Girls in Trailer for The Bad Guys 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/meet-the-bad-girls-in-trailer-for-the-bad-guys-2/ Sun, 24 Nov 2024 08:45:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85346 DreamWorks may not have as many established franchises as Disney, but they’ve managed to get a new hit with 2022’s The Bad Guys.

Now they’re set to release The Bad Guys 2 next year, and we have the first trailer for the movie featuring a new animal group of femme fatales. Check this out:

Here’s the synopsis for the sequel:

In the new action-packed chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed comedy smash about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, our now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls.

Original cast members from the first movie Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Awkwafina, and Anthony Ramos are set to reprise their roles as the Bad Guys; and the crew of Bad Girls is voiced by Danielle Brooks Maria Bakalova, and Natasha Lyonne.

The movie is even bringing back Zazie Beetz for Governor Foxington and Alex Borstein for Misty Luggins.

Besides Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon, DreamWorks has been working hard to find a new IP that can manage to stick, and The Bad Guys somehow worked pretty great. The animation is solid, and the movie had a lot of heart. Let’s just hope the sequel manages to deliver as well.

Apple TV’s The Studio Starring Seth Rogen Feels like HBO’s The Franchise https://www.geekfeed.com/the-studio-starring-seth-rogen-like-the-franchise/ Fri, 22 Nov 2024 05:15:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85325 There have been multiple movies and series that have poked fun at the chaotic process of moviemaking, but this new series from Apple TV promises to give a look at the current state of cinema and the people who make it run.

Check out the first look at The Studio starring Seth Rogen:

Here’s the official description for the series:

In The Studio, Rogen stars as the newly appointed head of a movie studio, Continental Studios. Desperate for the approval of celebrities, he and his team of executives at Continental Studios must juggle corporate demands with creative ambitions as they try to keep movies alive and relevant.

The series is executive produced by Rogen’s longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg, and is said to be a 10-episode half-hour comedy.

Besides Rogen, the series has managed to gather a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Bryan Cranston. The trailer also teases some big stars like incoming Captain America Anthony Mackie as well as previous Rogen collaborators Zac Efron and Charlize Theron.

There’s even a small scene there with Mythbusters fan-favorite Adam Savage.

Funnily enough, this series does feel somewhat like HBO’s recent comedy The Franchise which also looked to make fun of the big movie making industry while questioning if cinema is dying. Despite the comparison though, it does look like The Studio is its own unique flavor of storytelling—and it doesn’t hurt that they managed to gather a lot of A-listers to make an appearance.

Martin freakin’ Scorsese is in this series. Imagine the cameos that didn’t make it to the trailer.

The Studio is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025.

Berk Comes to Life in First Teaser for Live-Action How to Train Your Dragon https://www.geekfeed.com/teaser-live-action-how-to-train-your-dragon/ Wed, 20 Nov 2024 04:15:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85298 It’s been more than 10 years since movie audiences were introduced to the world of Berk in How to Train Your Dragon, and now director Dean DeBlois has been tasked to tell Hiccup’s story again, but this time in live-action.

The movie is set to release in the summer of next year, and Universal Pictures just dropped their first teaser for the live-action How to Train Your Dragon. Check this out:

On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated franchise), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.

If you’ve watched the original film, you’ll know that the live-action film takes a lot of visual cues from the animation. The dragon pit pretty much looks the same, as well as Hiccup’s moment with Toothless where the dragon lets him touch its nose.

With the original movie already being a spectacle by itself though, I’m curious if the live-action film has anything new to bring to the table. Sure a lot of the dragons look more detailed, but is there anything new to bring to the table storywise?

Maybe they can set-up characters like Hiccup’s mother and other franchise villains earlier, but I’m really hoping they go a different direction with the third film because that honestly could have been brushed up more storywise.

Dragons will soar in theatres when How to Train Your Dragon comes to cinemas on June 13.

The Children Yearn for the Mines in Official Trailer for A Minecraft Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/mines-in-official-trailer-for-a-minecraft-movie/ Wed, 20 Nov 2024 03:21:05 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85294 Hollywood continues to chase that video game adaptation golden goose, and next year WB Pictures will be giving fans A Minecraft Movie. Just in a new trailer has been dropped, and it features all the spectacle expected from a big budget video game flick.

Check this out:

Though it does sound pretty ridiculous that Steve would be a child who was willing to go into mines, this was actually a reference to a 2022 meme satirizing the abolition of child labour as Minecraft proved that ‘The children yearn for the mines.’

Besides that, the movie does have a lot of Easter Eggs which only actual Minecraft players would be able to spot out like the different characters that you can meet in the Overworld and even the Crafting Table where Steve creates weapons.

I do have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of the hyper-realistic look for a lot of the Overworld. I would have loved it if they just stuck to the low-poly textures that were signature to a game like Minecraft.

Here’s the official description for the film:

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

WATCH: Sneak Peek for the Final Act of Arcane https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-sneak-peek-for-the-final-act-of-arcane/ Tue, 19 Nov 2024 23:55:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85306 Arcane is set to end after two seasons, but two acts into Season 2, and animators Fortiche have been knocking it out of the park every episode.

The story is set to close with Act 3 this weekend, and we have a sneak peek for the big closer of the series. Check this out:

The Act 2 finale ended with a huge cliffhanger, but it does look like a lot of things are going to be picked up immediately. For one, even thought Jayce seemingly killed Viktor, it looks like he’s still figuring out how the ‘Machine Herald’ fit into all this arcane chaos. It also looks like Vi is once again trying to convince Jinx to come to her side; and fans expect Jinx to be at a new low especially since she lost her only family left, Isha.

The second act was completely devoid of Heimerdinger and Ekko, so fans are expecting them to reappear immediately with the start of Act 3. Some fans are even convinced that after Ekko’s experience with the arcane, it’s possible that he comes back with time-travelling powers, and he could use them to stop the murder of Viktor and hopefully the death of Isha.

Though it’s sad to think an amazing show is ending, Riot is looking to tell more stories in Runeterra outside of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun. They can move forward and back with the timeline, but for now it looks like they’re closing the book with this era of characters.

Act 3 of Arcane Season 2 comes out on Netflix Nov. 23.

Ben Stiller has to Wrangle some Wild Kids in Trailer for Nutcrackers https://www.geekfeed.com/ben-stiller-in-trailer-for-nutcrackers/ Sun, 17 Nov 2024 07:25:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85227 Ben Stiller has mostly been behind the camera lately with series like Severance, but he’s actually going back for some family-friendly comedy with Hulu’s upcoming Nutcrackers.

The movie is set to come out by the end of the month, and we have the first trailer. Check this out:

Here’s the summary for the film:

In the most unlikely of places, four siblings find a loving shelter in an unexpected turn of circumstances. This endearing comedy-drama draws inspiration from actual events and deftly crafts a gripping story that unites everyone.

It’s been a while since Stiller has starred in a screwball comedy, but that was basically his genre with films like Meet the Parents and Zoolander. Though Nutcrackers does look like his old brand of film, it does feel like the movie is going to have that very emotional center—what with Stiller’s character obviously not wanting anything to do with kids, but is somehow forced into parenting four strange children.

With Stiller being so focused on directing lately, I’ll admit I was kind of missing him in front of the camera. While I do love his artsy films with Noah Baumbach, classic comedy Stiller is still fun to watch, and he plays the neurotic weirdo who does slapstick so well even after all these years.

Hopefully Nutcrackers becomes must-see holiday movie this year, because things have honestly started looking pretty bleak as January draws nearer.

Catch Nutcrackers when it premieres on Hulu on Nov. 29.

The Final Season of Beastars Gets Its First Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/beastars-final-season-gets-its-first-trailer/ Fri, 08 Nov 2024 11:03:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85122 Disney is said to be working on a new Zootopia property, but until that happens, Netflix’s Beastars will just have to do. The anime is set to come out with its final season, and we just got a new trailer.

Here’s the official description:

It is a world where carnivores and herbivores coexist.

Following the battle with the culprit who devoured his classmate at school, Legoshi decides to drop out and begins living alone at Beast Apartments. Louis has entered a prestigious university and resolves to face his father, Ogma. Haru also deals with many struggles as she tries to enjoy campus life.

Meanwhile, the city sees an increase of devouring incidents. The fangs of the heinous criminal who is pulling all the strings begin to close in on Legoshi and the others …

Beastars is admittedly a very odd property, and probably the simplest way to describe it is that it’s a mesh of the world of Zootopia with all the drama of Twilight. Sure there are still divisions between predator and prey species, but now there’s a forbidden romance with Legoshi the Wolf and Haru the Rabbit—and it’s this dangerous paring that is one of the driving forces behind the show.

Admittedly, there wasn’t as much Legoshi/Haru moments last season, but based on the trailer, it looks like Legoshi is going to keep at his pacifist training, and there could be more scandalous relationships down the line.

The final season of Beastars premieres on Dec. 5 on Netflix.
