Mickey 17 just got a release date, and that comes with a new look at the movie. Check this out:

The official description of the film reads:

From the Academy Award-winning writer/director of “Parasite,” Bong Joon Ho, comes his next groundbreaking cinematic experience, “Mickey 17.” The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.

Besides Pattinson, the movie has managed to nab a star-studded cast which includes Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

What’s interesting is, though Bong does make the occasional English-speaking movie, he does seem to have a penchant for dystopian worlds covered in ice—just look at his work on the Chris Evans-fuelled Snowpiercer.

Either way, Mickey 17 looks fantastic, and a lot of fans are eager to watch Robert Pattinson just be in his element of playing all these different weirdoes. Sure he may have been the face of the Twilight saga at some point, but he’s slowly reinvented himself to be this auteur specialist with a knack for some very artsy, freaky projects. This should keep his fans satisfied until the release of The Batman Part II in 2027.

Watch out for Mickey 17 when it comes to cinemas on March 7.

Ayo Edebiri Infiltrates a John Malkovich Cult in Trailer for A24’s Opus https://www.geekfeed.com/ayo-edebiri-in-trailer-for-a24s-opus/ Thu, 23 Jan 2025 18:41:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86178 Ayo Edebiri may be best known for her work in comedies like The Bear and Bottoms, but she’s teaming up with A24 for what looks to be a creepy cult movie.

Check out the trailer for Opus:

The simple tagline reads: An iconic pop star returns after decades missing.

Besides Edebiri, the movie also stars Julietter Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Stephanie Suganami, Tony Hale, and Young Mazino.

We’ve gotten a lot of modern cult films in recent years with films like Hereditary and Kinds of Kindness, but it looks like this one is going to have its own weird twist with the Get Out nature of the trailer. It’s unclear just how weird everything is expected to get, but Malkovich can get pretty freaky depending on the project.

It’s even neat to see a puppet in the film because it could be a reference to Being John Malkovich, another weird movie about a puppeteer taking over the body of actual John Malkovich.

As far as it looks, this is the directorial debut of Mark Anthony Green whose only credit before this project was a short film. Even if that is the case, the trailer does look very impressive, and the fact that it’s managed to gather quite an impressive cast could mean that a lot of movie buffs may want to see just what Opus is going to be all about.

Catch Opus when it releases in theatres on March 14.

Marvel Rivals Spring Festival Reveals New Game Mode that is NOT Lucio Ball https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-reveals-new-game-mode/ Thu, 23 Jan 2025 17:25:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86170 The Chinese New Year is upon us, and while Dracula may be terrorizing Marvel Rivals for Season 1, the devs made room for what they’re calling the Spring Festival event.

Just like Overwatch does with the Lunar New Year, Marvel Rivals is also bringing in a new game mode, and it’s definitely NOT Lucio Ball. Check this out:

“May the golden lion’s mane guide your fortune and bring you strength this season. Join the celebration now and let the magic of the Spring Festival unfold!”

As fans have pointed out, the new game mode Clash of Dancing Lions looks just like Overwatch’s limited game mode, but there are some specific differences. Instead of playing an entire team of just one character, Dancing Lions has players pick between three people in a team; them being Black Widow, Iron Fist, and Star-Lord.

While Lucio himself is pretty mobile, the characters in Dancing Lions all have different mobile abilities like Widow and her sprint, Iron Fist and his Dragon Kick, and Star-Lord with his flight. The trick is having the players try to be a cohesive team with their different abilities—which makes it a tad more complicated than Lucio Ball.

The question is whether the rest of the player base will have fun with this mode. If anything, the skins look cool, and it should be a nice break from the usual matches.

The Spring Festival event launches for Marvel Rivals on Jan. 23. The game is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.

Until Dawn Movie Trailer Gives New Twist to the Original Game’s Premise https://www.geekfeed.com/until-dawn-movie-trailer-gives-new-twist/ Sun, 19 Jan 2025 17:48:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86140 Director David F. Sandberg may have been stuck doing Shazam! movies since 2019, but now he’s coming back to the horror genre with an adaptation of Until Dawn.

The movie is set to come out in April, and a new trailer has been dropped:

Here’s the official description:

“One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”

The original Until Dawn came from Supermassive Games and released for the PlayStation 4. The game was an interactive horror story with each decision leading to massive consequences with the butterfly effect system. Based on how the game was written, either everyone could die, or everyone could survive.

For context, here’s a look at the remastered game:

The interesting twist with the adaptation is that they’ve managed to add a Groundhog Day narrative in which the night would repeat itself—sticking to the game’s element where people can learn from past mistakes and use that to survive each night. One twist though, is that the monsters also change, and everyone has to find out how to best each creature while knowing what they do about the environment.

I’ll admit, it’s a great twist to the formula, and it should be an interesting watch for first-timers and Until Dawn fans. With Sandberg being stuck doing Shazam! the last couple of years, I’m just happy to see him back in his element.

Watch out for Until Dawn when it comes to cinemas on April 25.

Peak Schwarzenegger Comes to Mortal Kombat 1 as Conan the Barbarian https://www.geekfeed.com/schwarzenegger-comes-to-mortal-kombat-1/ Sun, 19 Jan 2025 16:46:49 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86136 The T-800 Terminator had already appeared in Mortal Kombat 11 as a guest fighter, but the devs at NetherRealm somehow found another way to put peak Arnold Schwarzenegger in their game.

Check out the gameplay reveal for Conan the Barbarian in MK1:

Here’s the official description:

Crush your enemies and see them driven before you. Conan THE Barbarian joins Mortal Kombat for early access players on January 21. May Crom help us all.

Conan will be available with the Khaos Reigns expansion, Bundle, or Kollection. Players can also buy him individually via the store.

As far as the character goes, it does look like a lot of his moves mostly consist of using the Atlantean Sword. In real life, the sword was said to have weighed 9 pounds and was said to have been pretty impractical for a weapon, but considering how huge Schwarzenegger was at the time, it would make sense for his Conan to wield such a massive weapon.

With Conan joining the game, Mortal Kombat adds another 80s icon to its roster. While some people may think Conan as a playable character is rather random, it does make sense with the meta-context that MK was supposed to be an adaptation of the 80s film Bloodsport—which explains the franchise’s connection to 80s action cinema. That’s why characters like Robocop, John Rambo, the Predator, and a Xenomorph have made it to the game.

Who knows, maybe in the next 10 years there could be a playable John Wick down the line or maybe characters from other bloody franchises like Resident Evil or Elden Ring.

Mortal Kombat 1 is now playable for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. Conan drops on Jan. 21.

New Trailer for The Monkey from Longlegs Director https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-the-monkey-from-longlegs-director/ Sun, 19 Jan 2025 16:35:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86132 Say what you will about Longlegs, but the movie definitely had a vibe, and Osgood Perkins is coming back with another trip in the form of The Monkey.

The film is set to come out this February, and we have a new creepy trailer. Check it:

Here’s the official description:

When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy.

Just from the trailer alone, fans can put together some Final Destination and The Omen vibes in which people are violently killed by crazy coincidences. The big hook here is that its Perkins at the helm, and he could very much set the vibe in his own unique way—which has never been done in the genre before.

As far as stars go, the movie will feature Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Sarah Levy, and Elijah Wood. Perkins himself is also set to make an appearance in the movie (as he also has actor credits, even appearing in Jordan Peele’s Nope).

After all the buzz surrounding Longlegs, a lot of fans are excited to see just how The Monkey will turn out. While not many people knew what they were signing up for with Longlegs, maybe The Monkey will be more of a straightforward horror—especially knowing how these Stephen King stories go.

Catch The Monkey when it comes to cinemas on Feb. 21.

Nintendo Officially Unveils the Nintendo Switch 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/nintendo-officially-unveils-the-nintendo-switch-2/ Sun, 19 Jan 2025 15:34:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86119 The Nintendo Switch was such a successful console when it launched, and fans have been wondering just when Nintendo will be ready to upgrade it. For years fans have been getting buzz about the Switch 2, but now we have the official reveal.

Check this out:

Just from the video alone, it looks like the Switch 2 is going to be a bit bigger than the original Switch. Doing away with the red and blue, Nintendo is now opting for a black look with some punk and blue highlights on certain parts of the console.

The trailer also doesn’t reveal much about the hardware, but fans are expecting this thing to be at least a little more powerful than the Switch. Though it had some great exclusives, fans thought that it was still pretty limited, and it could easily get out-powered by its fellow gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. Even the Steam Deck, which is also handheld, boasted the power of a tiny gaming computer.

What we do know is that backwards compatibility will be available with the Switch 2. Take note, while some Switch 1 games can be played, a select few can’t. It probably has something to do with the Switch having third-party options, but we’ll just have to wait and see until Nintendo reveals more.

Not much is known about the Switch 2 yet, but expect more to be revealed during Nintendo Direct which takes place later this year on April 2.

The Man without Fear is Back in Trailer for Daredevil: Born Again https://www.geekfeed.com/cox-is-back-in-trailer-for-daredevil-born-again/ Sun, 19 Jan 2025 15:13:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86114 With Skeleton Crew ending this month, Disney+ is now throwing the baton back to Marvel Studios. This March will see the premiere of the highly anticipated Daredevil: Born Again, and a new trailer has just been dropped featuring the returning cast from the Netflix show.

Check this out:

It’s not clear exactly where the series wants to go this time, but it looks like both Matt Murdoch and Wilson Fisk have moved on from their previous entanglement, with Matt dropping his Daredevil persona, and Fisk becoming the mayor of New York.

Though Daredevil and Kingpin are expected to be the central figures of this series, the show has also teased the return of Matt’s friends Foggy Nelson and Karen Paige; as well as an appearance from Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher.

Besides the familiar faces, Daredevil is said to be going up against a new villain in the form of the Muse. Based on street artist Banksy, the Muse is a deranged ‘artist’ who kills people and uses their blood to make his grotesque artwork—kind of like someone out of the Hannibal series.

The Daredevil: Born Again series has undergone a lot of reworks ever since they started development, but it looks like Marvel is now ready to release the series. While it was originally developed like previous miniseries like She-Hulk and Hawkeye, Born Again was said to have adapted the more traditional TV development approach, and fans should expect it to be a property that feels more like a series.

Watch out for Daredevil: Born Again when it comes to Disney+ on March 4.

A Sex Robot Goes Off Book in Trailer for Companion https://www.geekfeed.com/a-sex-robot-goes-off-book-in-companion-trailer/ Sun, 12 Jan 2025 06:44:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86042 Barbarian was one of the craziest horror movies to come out in recent memory, and the same team is coming back for a movie called Companion starring Jack Quaid (The Boys) and Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets). The movie is set to come out later this month, and it just got an interesting new trailer.

Check this out:

The movie is being very intentionally vague about their marketing, and the only synopsis that fans have so far is this: A billionaire’s death sets off a chain of events for Iris and her friends during a weekend trip to his lakeside estate.

By the looks of it, Thatcher is playing some kind of sophisticated sex robot that is altered by Quaid’s character, but things go horribly awry when she becomes sentient and starts going after her owners.

If you’ve watched Barbarian, you’ll expect Companion to have an unpredictable story that just goes to unexpected places. While the sex robot thing could be one part of the story, it’s possible that the trailer is hiding some other big twist that could come out of nowhere.

I’ll admit, a January release looks like the studio didn’t have much faith in the movie, but so far Companion looks interesting, and the quality of Barbarian alone should entice someone to check out the movie. It should be a great herald to the upcoming Valentine’s season. Who wants to take their girlfriend to see Captain America 4?

Watch out for Companion when it hit theatres on Jan 31.

Latest Trailer for Mythic Quest 4 Tackles AI and Video Game Ethics https://www.geekfeed.com/mythic-quest-4-tackles-ai-and-video-game-ethics/ Sun, 12 Jan 2025 06:33:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86037 Mythic Quest is probably one of the best shows on Apple TV+ that no one is checking out right now, and the series is set to have its fourth season later this month.

Just in, a new trailer has dropped, and it brings us back to the crazy MQ studio where Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) and Ian (Rob McElhenney) are once again allowed to run amok and make one of the best multiplayer online games of all time. Check this out:

The official description for Season 4 reads:

Season four of Mythic Quest brings stars Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis and Naomi Ekperigin back together under the same fluorescent office lights. The reunited team at Mythic Quest confronts new challenges amongst a changing video game landscape as stars rise, egos clash, relationships bloom and everyone tries to have a little more work work life balance.

The series has always tried to tackle actual issues when it comes to the game industry, and we can see some of that in the trailer with Ian getting his own AI clone as well as David being forced to go to a senate hearing where he has to defend the ethics of profiting off children with video games.

It also looks likea lot of the supporting cast have been given larger roles like community manager Sue (Caitleen McGee) and HR manager Carol (Naomi Ekperigin).

I’ll admit, the last season of MQ was kind of middling when it came to the video game industry stuff, but the character work is still very great and emotional. We don’t know how long Mythic Quest is going to run, but I’m hoping that Apple gives the creators as much time as they can to deliver a stellar season every year.

Mythic Quest 4 premieres on Apple TV+ on Jan. 29.

Welcome to Noxus: Check Out League of Legends Cinematic Featuring Mel https://www.geekfeed.com/league-of-legends-cinematic-featuring-mel/ Wed, 08 Jan 2025 10:58:52 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86002 Mel was one of several main characters in Arcane, and she was getting shipped off to Noxus by the end of the series. Now League of Legends has revealed a cinematic dubbed Welcome to Noxus which features Mel and some new characters that could be major players in the series.

Check this out:

While this doesn’t look to be the next mainline series after Arcane, it does feature some heroes in the region that didn’t appear in the show like Darius, Trundle, Katarina, Elise, LeBlanc, and Vladimir. It also looks like whatever is going to happen in Noxus in League of Legends is going to be canon to the events of Arcane.

Though there hasn’t been any update on the next story after Arcane, it has been said that Noxus is going to be one of the main locations in the future show. Just looking at Mel’s arc, it does look like she’s going to be undergoing some kind of journey with discovering her powers, and it will have something to do with the Black Rose faction (which is lead by LeBlanc).

With Arcane ending in one of the most satisfying ways that it could, a lot of fans are hopeful that Fortiche’s follow-up will be able to meet the high standards that the first series has set. Though Caitlyn and Vi’s story may be closed for now, a lot are hopeful that Jinx is going to get her new beginning by the next season.

This cinematic is meant to introduce Welcome to Noxus for League of Legends, and Season 1 is expected to start on Jan.9.

Marvel Rivals: Check Out Abilities for Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-mr-fantastic-and-invisible-woman/ Wed, 08 Jan 2025 10:53:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85998 Marvel Rivals is gearing up for the arrival of the Fantastic Four for Season 1, and the first two heroes dropping will be power couple Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Just in, two new ability showcases have been dropped for both characters and it showcases just how useful they can be in the battlefield.

Here’s the breakdown for Mr. Fantastic (Duelist):

Though he’s classified as a Duelist, a lot of Marvel Rivals players note that Mr. Fantastic’s kit actually makes him a very versatile hero, with some abilities giving him traits that are closer to being a Vanguard. If anything, his Inflated form and power set have reminded other players of One Piece hero Monkey D. Luffy.

As for the Invisible Woman (Strategist), here’s what she can do:

For Sue Storm’s kit, it was obvious that she was going to turn invisible, but her Force Fields actually have a lot of utility in the game, being able to create AOEs that damage enemies inside them, plus she can also pull or knockback enemies as well.

Her ultimate is pretty interesting in that it creates an area that heals teammates and makes them invisible. That being said, they can still be damaged, but it is a nice twist to the Invisible Woman’s skillset.

Why can’t Sombra do anything that useful?

Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman come to Marvel Rivals on Jan. 10. The game is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.

New Trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 Reveals Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-season-2-reveals-release-date/ Wed, 08 Jan 2025 10:47:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85994 The Last of Us on HBO may have skipped over 2024, but the series is set to come back this year. After months of anticipaton, HBO has dropped a new trailer, and it confirms the release window for the second season.

Check this out:

Anyone who’s played the second game can immediately tell some of the expected setpieces that will be coming to the second season of the show. After settling in Jackson, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) are met with a new antagonist in the form of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever). Essentially Ellie will spend the whole story looking for Abby in Seattle, and she goes to terribly dark places emotionally to get what she needs.

While most of Abby’s backstory is a mystery for the first half of the game, it does look like the series is going to push some of it forward for the show. Though Abby has her own arc with the Seraphites in the game, it does seem like they’re going to be holding back on that for the third season—that’s why none of the main Seraphite characters have been cast yet.

That being said, it does seem like the ‘Scars’ are going to have their backstory explored in the series. They’re mostly a mystery in the game, but they do have a beef with the WLF leader Isaac (Jeffrey Wright) who is the leader of Abby’s post-apocalypse faction.

So far the series is looking great, and everyone whose played the game knows that TV-only audiences are in for an emotional rollercoaster.

The Last of Us returns to HBO this April.

Marvel Rivals: Eternal Night Falls on the Fantastic Four in Season 1 Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-the-fantastic-four-in-s01-trailer/ Wed, 08 Jan 2025 09:48:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85977 Season 0 is coming and going, and Marvel Rivals is now gearing up for Season 1 later this month. Just in, a new trailer has been released, and it gives an official look at the Fantastic Four. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the season:

Darkness engulfs New York as the Timestream Entanglement leaves Doctor Strange trapped in the Entangled Astral Plane, scattering the Darkhold pages. Dracula and Doctor Doom disrupt the moon’s orbit, plunging the city into eternal night and unleashing an army of vampiric creatures. With the world on the brink, the Fantastic Four join forces with iconic Marvel heroes, standing together in the epic battle to break the mystical darkness with science. Ignite the battle against Dracula with the Fantastic Four in Marvel Rivals!

With the official launch of the season still a few days away, there’s still a lot of time for NetEase to drop some proper character ability breakdowns for the Fantastic Four. Though skills for Mr. Fantastic and the Human Torch have been leaked for weeks, we barely know anything about how the Thing or the Invisible Woman play yet; at best we know that the Thing will be a Vanguard, and Sue Storm will be a Strategist.

It’s rumoured that the Fantastic Four will be released two at a time; two dropping at the beginning of the season, and another two coming out mid-season. Though the Fantastic Four may be at the center of it all, some are hoping that the Battle Pass will also come with some good cosmetics for other heroes as well.

With the whole Dracula theme of Season 1, maybe fans can expect some more gothic outfits for some existing heroes.

Season 1 for Marvel Rivals begins on Jan. 10. Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.

Ranma ½ Season 2 Officially Announced https://www.geekfeed.com/ranma-%c2%bd-season-2-officially-announced/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 13:58:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85791 Netflix has had a great anime run for the past few months with Dandadan and Ranma ½, and while both the first seasons of the series have been finished, it’s already been confirmed that second seasons will be underway.

The Dandadan announce has been covered in another article, but here’s the announce for Ranma ½:

The first season had concluded with the first Shampoo arc (implying she’ll be back for more mayhem), but the teaser does give a hint as to another incoming character in the form of Mousse—Shampoo’s nearsighted suitor. Not only is he handsome, but he’s also skilled in a very specific martial art that deals with concealed weapons.

Admittedly Mousse doesn’t show up as frequently as Shampoo or Ryoga, but he’s still considered to be one of Ranma’s recurring rivals compared to others that show up in the manga.

So far, a lot of great buzz has been going around for the Ranma remake. While the original from the 90s is considered a classic, the new episodes have been lauded for being closer to the manga; in that Akane is a lot gentler as a character. The original anime was considered to have butchered Akane as a character making her more violent than she was in the source material.

For now, a lot of fans are pleased with the remake, and the show has managed to gather a new generation of watchers as well. Though Dandadan may be its own animal, Ranma ½ still has action, but has a lighter, more comedic focus for anyone too squeamish about ghosts and aliens.

Watch out for the second season of Ranma ½ when it comes to Netflix sometime next year.

Beware the Evil Eye in Announce Trailer for Dandadan Season 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/beware-the-evil-eye-in-announce-trailer-for-dandadan-season-2/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 07:23:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85780 A lot of fans had been speculating as to when the first season of Dandadan was going to end, and as it turns out, it ends right in the middle of the Evil Eye arc with Jiji.

With the cliffhanger ending, Netflix has spared no time announcing that a second season is already in production, and it’s set to come out in July next year. Check out the trailer:

The official description reads:

As Momo, Okarun, and Turbo Granny investigate what happened to Jiji’s family, they find themselves facing a series of bizarre encounters!

By the looks of the trailer, there is only a look at the rest of the Evil Eye arc, with the creeps that haunt the hot spring as well as the origin of the Evil Eye and its relationship with Jiji. By the time the second season comes around, anyone who has read the manga is already expecting the introduction of other members of Momo and Okarun’s group like Kinta and Vamola. It may be a while before class rep Rin is given her major arc.

With Chainsaw Man expected to make a comeback next year with the Reze Arc movie, fans are also expecting some kind of big film for Dandadan down the line. So far nothing official has been announced, but the Kaiju arc is clearly one of the more bombastic storylines, and it would make for some great spectacle in a cinema.

Then again, the series has been doing a great job with the animation so far, and the hype is up for this odd world by Yukinobu Tatsu-sensei.

Dandadan returns to Netflix on July 2025.

The Bomb Devil is Here in Trailer for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc https://www.geekfeed.com/the-bomb-devil-is-here-in-trailer-for-chainsaw-man-the-movie-reze-arc/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 07:19:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85764 A lot of fans are waiting on the release of the second season of Chainsaw Man, but MAPPA is already giving fans a treat with a new movie covering the Reze arc from the manga.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is set to release next year, and a new trailer has been dropped teasing the arrival of a new love interest/adversary—the Bomb Devil. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the movie:

Extravagant bloody battle involving love and desire, humans and devils, is coming to the big screens!

“Chainsaw Man” is a manga serialized in Shueisha’s “Shonen Jump+” that has sold over 30,000,000 copies. In 2022, the series was broadcast as a TV Anime series that was made by animation studio MAPPA (Notable works: “JUJUTSU KAISEN”, “Attack on Titan Final Season”, etc.), creating buzz all over the world.

Now in 2025, the episode that made the world go wild during its serialization is coming to theaters as an animated movie!

The official story description for the movie has also been released. It reads: Denji became “Chainsaw Man”, a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café.

While most of the first season had Denji pursuing a romance with Makima, Reze actually threw a curveball for the fans since she also had great chemistry with Denji. One big issue was that she was also possessed by a demon in the form of the Bomb Devil—and she’s quite capable of a lot of destruction.

Though fans should expect a lot of action and explosions that are signature to Chainsaw Man, Reze is considered to be one of the best pairings for Denji, as compared to Makima who is clearly just grooming him for control.

Hopefully the release of this movie will satiate the wait for the next season.

Catch Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc when it comes out in theatres sometime in 2025.

Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt Team-Up in Latest Trailer for The Electric State https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-the-electric-state/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 18:58:03 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85715 The Russo Brothers are going back to Marvel to direct Avengers: Doomsday, but the two also have a big-budget special effects movie with Netflix called The Electric State.

The film has two huge stars at the helm with Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, and we just got a new teaser. Check this out:

The official description of the film reads:

Set in a retro-futuristic past, this blockbuster adventure from filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo follows Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown), an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West in search of her younger brother. Joining her on the journey is a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter (Chris Pratt).

Besides Pratt and Brown, the movie has also managed to gather an impressive roster of cast members which include Jason Alexander, Stanley Tucci, Ke Huy Quan, and Giancarlo Esposito. There are even voice cameos from the likes of Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Alan Tudyk, Jenny Slate, and Hank Azaria (to name a few),

I’ll admit, the Russos haven’t had a hit since Avengers: Endgame, and this return for Doomsday seems like them just going back to what feels safe. After this trailer though, I have to admit the concept is pretty neat, and Brown and Pratt are solid actors—so Electric State has a lot of great things going for it.

I just hope that Netflix allows for a theatrical release sometime next year, because this honestly looks like it deserves a theatrical experience.

Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio Team-Up in First Trailer for Karate Kid: Legends https://www.geekfeed.com/first-trailer-for-karate-kid-legends/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 18:34:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85701 The kids of Cobra Kai may be grown-up now, but the Karate Kid franchise is now gearing up for the next generation of butt-kicking teens.

Karate Kid: Legends is set to release next year, and a new trailer has been dropped featuring Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, and the new series lead Ben Wang. Check this out:

The official description reads:

In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere.

When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.

The story pretty much mirrors the original Karate Kid where they take a bullied young teen and turn him into a martial arts fighter. With the story having taken place in Los Angeles and China, now the story is set in the Concrete Jungle of New York City.

I have to admit, Cobra Kai feels like the definitive sequel to the Karate Kid franchise, but this one does have an interesting premise that it brings together the worlds of the Macchio-led universe and the one that once starred Jaden Smith.

So far, Ben Wang does seem like he has the chops to be the next lead after Xolo Mariduena. I just hope that the movie acknowledges Johnny Lawrence one way or another.

Karate Kid: Legends is set to hit theaters on May 30, 2025.

Warfare Trailer: Alex Garland Co-Directs with Iraq War Veteran Ray Mendoza https://www.geekfeed.com/warfare-trailer-alex-garland-co-directs/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 17:59:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85687 After Civil War, it seemed like director Alex Garland was going to go back to his usual sci-fi niche, but it does seem like he’s gotten bit by the modern warfare genre bug.

Just in, A24 has dropped a new trailer for Warfare which is co-directed by Garland and an Iraq war veteran Ray Mendoza—who also wrote the script. Check this out:

The simple tagline for the movie reads: “‘Warfare’ embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory… A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”

The part of Mendoza in the film is played by D’pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. Other stars in the movie include Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Joseph Quinn (Fantastic Four: First Steps), Charles Melton (May December), Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun), and Noah Centineo (Black Adam).

Just based on the trailer and Civil War, we know that Garland can definitely capture the whole warfare vibe. It’s just different this time around with Mendoza co-directing because he was actually in that story, and his recollection is more vivid and authentic.

Admittedly, there have been a lot of films centered on the whole war in Iraq, but this one looks like it’s going to be a more experimental take which focuses on one specific mission that goes awry—plus it’s told in real-time.

Warfare is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2025.
