Say what you will about the Venom franchise, but those movies apparently make bank for Sony, and they’re now gearing up to close the trilogy of Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote buddy.
Just in, we have the first official trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, and it’s definitely been on-brand with the previous films. Check this out:
Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.
With Venom’s last appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it looks like this film will pick-up from where that scene left off with the symbiote being captured in a bar run by Cristo Fernandez. There’s also the tease that even more symbiotes are coming, and the host of the big bad villain will be played by Stephen Graham.
Fans have also spotted former Spider-Man villain Rhys Ifans dressed as some kind of hippie in a van. Some think that this could be a Kurt Conners/Lizard variant, but some are also convinced that it confirms that this timeline takes place in the same continuity as The Amazing Spider-Man.
But then again, wasn’t the scene with the symbiote in No Way Home taking place in the main MCU timeline? But why is Chiwetel Ejiofor not playing Baron Mordo from Doctor Strange?
I’m sure everything can be easily explained with ‘Multiverse’ logic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony just kind of sweeps everything under the rug and just asks us to forget that Ejiofor and Ifans played other Marvel characters before. Besides that, I think Venom: The Last Dance could be secretly hiding a multiverse-jumping plot—I mean, why is Mrs. Chen suddenly a Vegas showgirl?
Venom: The Last Dance is expected to hit theatres on Oct. 25.
