Harley Quinn, Joker, and More Get the Anime Treatment in Trailer for Suicide Squad ISEKAI

Just in case you’re not familiar with anime, Isekai is a genre where characters from a modern timeline are brought into a medieval fantasy one; and that’s exactly what they’re doing to DC’s Task Force X with Suicide Squad ISEKAI.

The series is set to premiere this year, and we have a new trailer showcasing villains Harley Quinn, Joker, Deadshot, King Shark, Peacemaker, and a Michael Jackson-inspired Clayface. Check this out:

The trailer also showcases the anime’s ending theme Go-Getters from Mori Calliope. We should also expect there to be a unique opening theme, but we’ll just have to wait until the marketing is ready to reveal that to the audience.

With the character of the Joker having a hard time coming back to the big screen, it’s great that we got an anime iteration of him in this series; and he looks every bit as anime-fied as you would expect a character like him to be.

We never really got to see Jared Leto’s true performance as the Joker in Suicide Squad, but maybe this Suicide Squad ISEKAI version could be a close-second. He does have a lot of the tattoos, and he’s a bit closer to a crazy mob leader than a dangerous clown—but it could be too early to tell.

You think Batman is going to show up?

No specific release date has been announced for Suicide Squad ISEKAI, but you can expect it to premiere sometime later this year.
