Watch Character Trailer for Joker in the Suicide Squad ISEKAI Anime

We’ve gotten several iterations of DC villain the Joker over the past decades, but upcoming anime Suicide Squad ISEKAI promises a whole new take on the character from a more Easter-based lens. Just in, we have a new character trailer for the Clown Prince of Crime, and it promises a different kind of psychotic for Batman’s nemesis.

Check this out:

We’ve gotten a Joker that’s fallen into acid, and a Joker that’s mentally and physically scarred; but this new take on the Joker looks to be insane by your usual anime standards.

It’s pretty interesting that this Joker is a little queer-coded, because, even if he does have Harley Quinn to act as his love interest, any true Batman fan knows that his real love affair is with the Dark Knight.

By the looks of it, this series could be a one-and-done for DC, but depending on how Suicide Squad is receieved, we could be looking at more anime adaptations of DC characters going into the future; but we’ll just have to wait and see what audiences will think in July.

Here’s the official description for the series:

In the crime-ridden city of Gotham, Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S., has assembled a group of notorious criminals for a mission: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark. These Super-Villains are sent into an otherworldly realm that’s connected to this world through a gate. It’s a world of swords and magic where orcs rampage and dragons rule the skies—an “ISEKAI”!

With lethal explosives planted in their necks, there’s no running or hiding, and failing the mission means a one-way ticket to the afterlife! Can Harley Quinn and her crew conquer this perilous ISEKAI realm?! Brace yourselves for the pulse-pounding saga of the elite task force known as the “Suicide Squad” as they embark on a jaw-dropping adventure!

Suicide Squad ISEKAI is set to start airing this July.
