Succession may be over, but HBO has another show about siblings fighting over their family empire with The Righteous Gemstones. The third season is now nearing its finale, and HBO has announced that they want more of Danny McBride’s show about criminal televangelists.

We don’t have any details about where the next season could be going, but for now the show is tackling the family undergoing a major shake-up, what with Eli Gemstone’s (John Goodman) retirement as well as the Gemstones’ clash with a religious cult being run by Steve Zahn.
It’s unclear where the series is going toward by the end of the season, but we do know that family and succession is a major theme for the series, and it will be up to the Gemstone siblings to find out just how their religious empire is going to be run. Not only do they fight among each other, but they somehow have to fend off other threats from outside the family, including rival evangelist groups as well as anyone looking to expose their criminal exploitation of the faithful.
So far, the series has been consistently fantastic, and you have to hand it to the main three Gemstones played fantastically by McBride, Edi Patterson, and Adam DeVine. It’s unclear how long they want this train to go, but I suspect the final season will end with Eli finally dying and Edi’s husband BJ somehow ending up running the whole thing.
No release date has been announced for The Righteous Gemstones Season 4, but you can catch the series now streaming on Max.
