The Last of Us Latest Trailer Showcases More Characters

We’re a month away from the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us series from Craig Mazin, and though the first teaser was pretty sparing with the reveals, we have a new trailer that gives us a look at the characters apart from Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

Check this out:

Beside Joel and Ellie, we get a look at characters like Marlene (Merle Dandridge), Bill (Nick Offerman), Riley (Storm Reid), Henry (Lamar Johnson), and Sam (Keivonn Woodard).

Though we should expect some recreations with some scenes from The Last of Us game, the preview also confirms that we’re getting some moments from the DLC Left Behind which has Ellie and Riley breaking into an abandoned mall for a type of ‘date’.  Some are even speculating we could be getting seeds planted for The Last of Us Part II.

There also looks to be the cannibal gang that Joel and Ellie run into, but I think this could be a red herring, with the showrunners planning to introduce David in the next season. Then again, that’s just my guess.

Here’s the series description:

20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed, Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

The Last of Us premieres on HBO Max on Jan. 15, 2023.
