The Last of Us Season 3 Officially Greenlit

The Last of Us Season 3 Officially Greenlit

The Last of Us Season 2 is set to premiere this weekend, and while a lot of people have been worrying on whether the series is going to be able to complete the game’s story, it looks like HBO is willing to roll the dice.

As per Naughty Dog, a third season of The Last of Us has been greenlit by HBO. Here’s the announcement:

Whole no official details have been revealed for the season, fans are convinced that Season 2 is only going to tell the first half of the game—which means that the second half is going to be the main focus of Season 3.

While this sounds like great news for fans who didn’t play the game; some fans who did play the game (me specifically) are honestly worried about the possible backlash, considering that the third season could start with a hard right turn that puts the focus away from Ellie and onto Part II’s co-protagonist Abby.

Granted, there’s also a lot of great stuff when it comes to Abby’s part of the story, but I just don’t know if I can last another wave of haters that would spend every week just poring over every single nitpick on why they hate the show now. You can’t even trust White Lotus fans to be media literate nowadays.

Maybe I’m worrying about nothing, but I do hope Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann manage to pull off the same magic they did in the first season.

The Last of Us Season 2 premieres on Max on April 13.
