The Boys has been having a stellar run so far, but showrunner Eric Kripke has confirmed that the next season will be the final one. While everyone has their ideas of how the world of Vought should keep going, Laz Alonso a.k.a. Mother’s Milk, wants to bring it all to the big screen.
In a recent appearance with other Boys actors in Happy Sad Confused Alonso said that he wanted the final season of The Boys to end with a cliffhanger that would then lead up to an actual movie. Even Homelander Antony Starr was down for the idea.
With the series clearly poking fun at the mainstream superhero franchises, some fans thought that it would be ironic that The Boys would end in such a franchise-like fashion. Personally, I’m a fan of the pitch that they should just complete the story of the clash with Homelander in the television series; and if they want to make a movie, they could just deal with the immediate aftermath.
Even if The Boys would end, there are already multiple ways for the world of Vought to keep going. The most obvious candidate is Gen V, which was a hit when it came out; and it’s been confirmed that the story could go on for a few more seasons after The Boys ends.
There’s also the thought that there could be several spinoffs planned that just haven’t been announced. If House of the Dragon can be a big hit, then maybe a Soldier Boy-focused prequel could get people interested.
It’s just a pitch.
