The Batman Part II Delay Allegedly Due to Personal Issues with Matt Reeves

It was 2022 when The Batman first came out, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2027 before we get the sequel. A lot of fans have been wondering what could be the cause of the delay, and some new word is going around that it could have something to do with director Matt Reeves undergoing a personal problem.

At least, that’s what Grace Randolph says. In her show (via @whenbatmenfly), she says, “If you knew what Matt Reeves was dealing with, you’d leave him alone. I mean, it’s not a Chadwick Boseman situation, but it’s close. You should leave Matt Reeves alone.”

At this point, several people having been wondering what the reason for the delay could be, and there are also others that have been refuting what Randolph says.

My favourite theory so far is that Reeves is actually working on two movies, and The Batman Part II and Part III are planning to shoot back-to-back just like they did with trilogies like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings.

With Robert Pattinson allegedly signing up for Dune: Messiah, it’s speculated that it would have to be 2026 when cameras started rolling for The Batman. Though it’s a bummer that we have to go through a delay, it wouldn’t be a problem as long as we got something great out of it.

Hopefully it’s not like a Tron: Legacy situation where they were clearly building up for something else then just ended up scrapping it and rebooting it again years later with Jared Leto.

The Batman Part II is set to hit theaters in October 2027.
