Earlier this month, it was reported that Colman Domingo (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Euphoria) was being eyed to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror for the MCU, but now a new name seems to have entered the ring.
As per scooper Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie) Tenet and BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington is now being eyed to take over the role of Kang. We don’t have any further details about the role, but compared to Domingo, Washington is closer to the age that Majors is, and he’s already proven that he can pull off complicated action scenes.

With Washington in the role, there is also a chance that the audience could be more sympathetic to his villain, seeing that he’s had a history of playing protagonists before.
As for Domingo though, it’s very likely that he could have a more commanding presence with his age, but we shouldn’t expect him to be as physically imposing. Then again, it does seem that the Kang character is pretty dependent on how many characters the actor can come up with, seeing that each version has to be distinct.
If you ask me, they should consider Jay Pharoah for the part because he’s proven he can do a lot of impressions, but maybe having a comedy actor could be distracting—but Bryan Cranston still made that jump from Malcolm and the Middle and Breaking Bad, so who knows what could work?
For now, Marvel is yet to announce a new Kang the Conqueror, but you can catch Majors’ final performance in Loki Season 2 now streaming on Disney+.
