Will Poulter – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Thu, 19 Dec 2024 17:59:43 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Will Poulter – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Warfare Trailer: Alex Garland Co-Directs with Iraq War Veteran Ray Mendoza https://www.geekfeed.com/warfare-trailer-alex-garland-co-directs/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 17:59:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85687 After Civil War, it seemed like director Alex Garland was going to go back to his usual sci-fi niche, but it does seem like he’s gotten bit by the modern warfare genre bug.

Just in, A24 has dropped a new trailer for Warfare which is co-directed by Garland and an Iraq war veteran Ray Mendoza—who also wrote the script. Check this out:

The simple tagline for the movie reads: “‘Warfare’ embeds audiences with a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory… A visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it.”

The part of Mendoza in the film is played by D’pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. Other stars in the movie include Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Joseph Quinn (Fantastic Four: First Steps), Charles Melton (May December), Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun), and Noah Centineo (Black Adam).

Just based on the trailer and Civil War, we know that Garland can definitely capture the whole warfare vibe. It’s just different this time around with Mendoza co-directing because he was actually in that story, and his recollection is more vivid and authentic.

Admittedly, there have been a lot of films centered on the whole war in Iraq, but this one looks like it’s going to be a more experimental take which focuses on one specific mission that goes awry—plus it’s told in real-time.

Warfare is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2025.

James Gunn Teases the Future of Adam Warlock https://www.geekfeed.com/james-gunn-teases-the-future-of-adam-warlock/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 01:26:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72965 Though Adam Warlock was a pivotal figure in the comics when it came to the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, Marvel Studios waited until the final Guardians of the Galaxy movie to introduce him. Though this is the Guardians’ last ride, director James Gunn teases the future for Will Poulter’s Warlock, and how he could be crucial to the next phase of Marvel stories.

Talking to Empire, Gunn talks about how they cast Poulter and how the character of Adam could be essential to Marvel Phase 5. He explains:

“People online were saying, ‘Oh, Tom Cruise should be Adam Warlock… I wanted somebody who was youthful, and I wanted the person who had the dramatic chops and the comedic chops, not only for this movie but for what Marvel will use Adam Warlock for in the future… He could become this really important character.”

With this movie said to be the final film for this iteration of the Guardians, the franchise could still move forward with a new roster—pretty much like the Avengers movies. With Adam being such a pivotal character in the comics, I think the movie could end with Adam being set up to be the new leader of the Galaxy’s Favorite A-Holes.

As for now though, Adam is going to be serving as an antagonist in the movie, with him sent to hunt down the Guardians by the Sovereign. Gunn describes the character:

“… He’s definitely not a good guy. What we’re seeing is the infant form of Warlock, newly out of the cocoon, and he does not understand life very well. He’s basically a baby.”

Despite the simple description, I think Adam could end up having one of the biggest emotional arcs in the film; but we’ll just have to wait and see till the movie comes out.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5.

GOTG VOl. 3: Chris Pratt Hypes Up Adam Warlock https://www.geekfeed.com/gotg-vol-3-chris-pratt-hypes-up-adam-warlock/ Wed, 03 Aug 2022 10:46:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70358 Adam Warlock was teased in the mid-credits scene for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and we get to see him in the flesh when Vol. 3 hits theaters next year.

Talking to Fandango, Guardians vet Chris Pratt hypes up incoming cast member Will Poulter who has been cast as Adam, and he says:

That guy has got such charisma. I’m so proud of him. He did a great job. He’s an awesome Adam Warlock; he looks incredible… He reminded me sort of when I got cast as Star-Lord; this sort of transformation that was expected, the discipline around it, the eagerness to do it, and his willingness to go… he did such a great job.”

With the Guardians series having ‘found family’ as the core of its themes, Pratt also talks about how he feels like a proud big brother when it comes to Poulter in the film. We don’t know what he’s going to look like in the series yet, but everyone kind of remembers how Pratt just completely got ripped for the first Guardians movie, and maybe that’s what we can expect of Poulter in the upcoming third volume.

We don’t know yet how large Adam’s role will be in the series, but seeing as he’s pretty much the nemesis of Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet comics, we should expect him to be just as powerful in the films. My guess is, with this iteration of the Guardians expected to bow out in this film—Adam could end up leading the next team.

Then again, it’s just speculation.

Catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when it hits theaters on May 5, 2023.

CONFIRMED: Will Poulter Cast as Adam Warlock in GOTG Vol. 3 https://www.geekfeed.com/will-poulter-allegedly-cast-as-adam-warlock-in-gotg-vol-3/ Mon, 11 Oct 2021 14:14:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61906 UPDATE: Will Poulter has indeed been cast in the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie as Adam Warlock, THR reports.

The original article follows:

Will Poulter may be teased for looking like the live-action version of Sid from Toy Story, but he has been a solid actor throughout his career, and has proven he can take on serious and comedic roles. Though he may have had to bow out of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series, he could be jumping over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon.

As per Cosmic Circus (via CBM), Will Poulter (We’re the Millers, Maze Runner) has been cast in the part of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. So far, nothing official has been announced, and at the time of reporting, director James Gunn has yet to debunk anything.

With Adam being touted as the ‘perfect being’ by the Sovereign, Poulter is admittedly an interesting choice. He’s not as conventionally handsome like Richard Madden or Chris Evans; but I’m sure he can deliver a performance that’s needed out of the character—however Gunn plans to approach Warlock.

In the comics, Adam Warlock is known as one of the strongest characters in Marvel comics, and is even able to go toe-to-toe with Thanos. We don’t know how they plan to approach him when it comes to the MCU, but without Thanos, Warlock will need to be put against someone else that would just be as intimidating as the Mad Titan.

Of course, nothing official has been confirmed about Poulter’s involvement, but hopefully we can get an update soon. It’s possible he could actually be making his debut in the GOTG Holiday Special.

Catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when it comes out on May 5, 2023.
