Mortal Kombat II has just given a look at Johnny Cage, Kitana, Shao Khan, and Scorpion; and the great news is, those skins are coming to the Mortal Kombat 1 game as well. Here’s the movie look:
and here’s how they’ll look in the game:
While Johnny Cage, Kitana, and Shao Khan will be new characters introduced in the movie, Scorpion looks to be sporting his same outfit from the first game. It’s unclear how Scorpion will be making a return, but it’s said that some characters that died in the first movie are somehow going to be making it back for the sequel like Kung Lao, Kano, and Sub-Zero—who will probably become Noob Saibot if they want to follow the lore.
I’ll admit, there were some questionable decisions done with the MK reboot (like the ‘arcane’ explanation for powers), but the movie does a lot of great things as well—especially when it comes to the visualization of everyone’s powers and the fantastic fight scenes.
We don’t know if MKII will be able to improve on the sequel this time around, but I am hoping that it manages to lay down the ground work for future movies. Fingers crossed we get to Tilda Swinton Kronika in a few years.
Mortal Kombat II is set to come out in theaters on Oct. 24. Mortal Kombat 1 is now playable for Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
]]>In a recent talk with Mickey 17 co-star Naomi Ackie (via Hero Magazine), Pattinson was asked on whether he’ll be working on The Batman Part II soon, and he jokingly replied, “I f***ing hope so… I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be f***ing old Batman by the sequel.”
For context, Pattinson is currently 38-years-old, and by the time The Batman Part II comes out in theaters, he would have crossed the middle-age threshold at 41-years-old. Compare that to Ben Affleck’s Batman who was in his mid-40s by the time he’s introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
We don’t know why development is taking so long with The Batman sequel, but some fans speculate that this is going to be a Pirates of the Caribbean situation where Reeves is going to be shooting Part II and Part III simultaneously—hence the very long development process.
It’s unclear what Reeves has cooking under the hood, but after the success of The Penguin, more people have come onboard this Batman’s ‘Epic Crime Saga’. Let’s just hope Reeves manages to keep the quality of the universe consistent after all these years.
The Batman Part II is set to hit theaters sometime in 2027. Catch Pattinson in Mickey 17 which releases March 6.

Kyle Chandler is Hal Jordan. Aaron Pierre is John Stewart. #Lanterns, the new HBO Original Series from DC Studios, is now in production. pic.twitter.com/1Tz30Xm8f0
— Max (@StreamOnMax) February 27, 2025
Admittedly, the two aren’t in their Lantern uniforms, but a closer look at Chandler’s right hand and fans can see his GL Power Ring.
Besides Pierre and Chandler, the series also features Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry and Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro.
Here’s the official description for the series:
Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
While a lot of the details of this series has been kept under wraps, it has been said that it’s going to be one of the darker properties in the DC canon—odd, seeing that it’s also one of the most colorful, what with all the different kinds of aliens and variety of Lanterns based on colors. I mean, there’s an alien squirrel that has his own Power Ring.
With the series taking such a long time to get off the ground, fans are hopeful that Lanterns will finally do the property justice. GL has such rich lore behind it, and there are several fan-favorite Lanterns throughout the DC mythos. I’m honestly crossing my fingers that Nathan Fillon’s Guy Gardner shows up in this one.
Lanterns is set to start streaming on Max sometime in 2026.
]]>As per ScreenRant, John Lithgow (Conclave, Shrek) has confirmed that he’s going to be playing Dumbledore in the reboot. He says:
“Well, it came as a total surprise to me. I just got the phone call up at the Sundance Film Festival for yet another film, and it was not an easy decision because it’s going to define me for the last chapter of my life, I’m afraid. But I’m very excited.
“Some wonderful people are turning their attention back to Harry Potter. That’s why it’s been such a hard decision. I’ll be about 87 years old at the wrap party, but I’ve said yes.”
Traditionally, the Potter cast in the films were all expected to be British, but casting Lithgow would be a major change since he’s American. Nevertheless, he’s played British onscreen before, having been cast as Winston Churchill in The Crown:
Interestingly enough, the actor that Lithgow shares a scene with here, Jared Harris, is the son of original Dumbledore actor Richard Harris.
Admittedly, I thought they would cast someone much younger to play the role of Dumbledore, but Lithgow does seem to have the acting chops of being able to play stern and serious, while at the same time be silly and whimsical—essential to the Dumbledore character that may have been lost in the movies toward the final books.
So far, no other major cast member has been confirmed, but fans are waiting in anticipation for more updates.
The Potter reboot TV series has yet to get a release date, but it’s expected to premiere on Max.
]]>In a recent talk with Variety, Gunn confirmed that Pattinson is not expected to lead the next solo Batman project titled Brave and the Bold. We don’t know much about the movie yet, but Andy Muschietti (The Flash) is expected to direct, and the movie is said to be focusing on an older Batman having to deal with the fact that he has a son Damian who was raised by a league of assassins to be an efficient killer.
As for Battinson, The Batman Part II is still underway, and DC co-head Peter Safran has confirmed that they’re still waiting on a script from Reeves. He says Reeves has“yet to turn in a full script, but what we have read so far is incredibly encouraging.”
As for any possible follow-ups on The Penguin, it’s still up in the air. Safran continues, “We don’t know,” Safran said. “There are a lot of moving pieces — probably most important Colin [Farrell] himself.” “And 800 pounds of make-up,” Gunn added.
With Battinson’s Gotham set in a more grounded world, a lot of fans have expressed online that they thought it was best if he didn’t share a continuity with Superman or Green Lantern. Hopefully The Batman will continue the ‘Elseworlds’ branding for DC, and open up doors for more obscure characters and alternate versions of heroes to get their own movies.
The Batman Part II is expected to come to cinemas on Oct. 1, 2027.
]]>Johnny may have skipped out the first movie, but now he’s going to be in the sequel, and played by Karl Urban (The Boys) no less. Just in, the MK sequel has dropped a look at Urban as Cage for his fictional movie Uncaged Fury. Check this out:
It’s Johnny ******* Cage. Mortal Kombat II – coming soon only in theaters. #MortalKombatMovie pic.twitter.com/VqRZjJpJks
— Mortal Kombat Movie (@MKMovie) February 11, 2025
We don’t know much about this version of Cage yet, but if he’s anything like the character in the games, he’s going to be loud, narcissistic, and completely hilarious. We already know Urban can be funny, but some are still waiting to see if he was the right choice for someone like Johnny Cage.
Besides Johnny, new characters expected to be introduced in the sequel include Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), Jade (Tati Gabrielle), Quan Chi (Damon Herriman), Shao Khan (Martyn Ford), Queen Sindel (Ana Thu Nguyen), and Baraka (CJ Bloomfield).
All of the surviving characters from the first movie are also set to make a comeback like Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Sonya (Jessica McNamee), and Jax (Mehcad Brooks). There’s also going to be resurrections of others like Noob Saibot (Joe Taslim), Revenant Kung Lao (Max Huang), and Kano (Josh Lawson).
I’ll admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of how the original film kind of took itself too seriously, but the action was fantastic, and everyone’s powers looked amazing. We don’t know how much of that will show up in the sequel, but I hope we actually get to the tournament after the first movie just kept building up to it.
Mortal Kombat 2 comes to cinemas on Oct. 24.
]]>The movie is set to come out in May, and a new trailer has just been dropped promising some outrageous deaths by Rube Goldberg machine. Check this out:
The official description for Final Destination Bloodlines reads:
Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.
The movie stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lor, and Brec Bassinger.
Interestingly enough, Tony Todd is also listed in the cast, which would make this a posthumous performance for him, seeing that he died last November 2024.
With the last movie being a surprise prequel that brought everything full circle, it’s possible that this film could also be a prequel that follows up on the last film. Then again, with so many new things that could lead to death in the modern world, it wouldn’t be surprising if this movie was set in modern day and is just the run-off-the-mill legacy sequel.
With The Omen prequel and The Monkey bringing back coincidental gruesome death movies, the pressure is on for the OG franchise Final Destination to deliver in this modern era of horror movies. Let’s hope they stick the landing.
Catch Final Destination Bloodlines when it hits theaters on May 16.
]]>Mickey 17 just got a release date, and that comes with a new look at the movie. Check this out:
The official description of the film reads:
From the Academy Award-winning writer/director of “Parasite,” Bong Joon Ho, comes his next groundbreaking cinematic experience, “Mickey 17.” The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.
Besides Pattinson, the movie has managed to nab a star-studded cast which includes Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.
What’s interesting is, though Bong does make the occasional English-speaking movie, he does seem to have a penchant for dystopian worlds covered in ice—just look at his work on the Chris Evans-fuelled Snowpiercer.
Either way, Mickey 17 looks fantastic, and a lot of fans are eager to watch Robert Pattinson just be in his element of playing all these different weirdoes. Sure he may have been the face of the Twilight saga at some point, but he’s slowly reinvented himself to be this auteur specialist with a knack for some very artsy, freaky projects. This should keep his fans satisfied until the release of The Batman Part II in 2027.
Watch out for Mickey 17 when it comes to cinemas on March 7.
]]>Now news has it that a Goonies revival is in the works. According to Deadline, Chris Columbus, who co-wrote The Goonies with Steven Spielberg, is currently working on a treatment for a new Goonies film. Not much details have been revealed about the project, but we do know that he’s working on it alongside a revival of the Gremlins as well.
Just like Skeleton Crew, The Goonies focuses on a group of young misfit kids who stumble ito a pirate map and go on a secret treasure hunt. What they didn’t know was the dangers that they would be facing, and all the young adult angst that was going to bubble up to the surface.
The movie was directed by Richard Donner (Superman: The Movie) and starred Sean Astin (Sam from Lord of the Rings) as the lead kid Mikey. The movie also featured Josh Brolin as Mikey’s older brother who gets wrapped along for the ride.
Other stars of the film include Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, and Ke Huy Quan (of Indiana Jones fame).
The movie has definitely earned a cult status and has influenced a lot of things following it. Probably the most famous example is Stranger Things, but there are hints at Goonies in projects like Shazam! Fury of the Gods and of course, Skeleton Crew.
We don’t know what a Goonies revival could be about, but knowing current trends, this could be a reboot/sequel focusing on some new kids; maybe Sean Astin or Ke Huy Quan could make an appearance?
Having it be a reunion of the kids as adults going on another adventure does feel like a big swing, but I think there could be a great emotional journey there.
A Goonies sequel hasn’t been officially announced.
]]>Now a rumor has come out that WB is looking to do a Matrix property with Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, Bad Times at the El Royale), and they definitely have an interesting choice for the lead. According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH (via ComicBookMovie), one Ariana Grande (Wicked) is being eyed to lead the next Matrix movie.
No details have been set for the next Matrix film, but Goddard does seem to have the Wachowskis in mind when developing this spinoff. “It is not hyperbole to say The Matrix films changed both cinema and my life,” said Goddard, “Lana and Lilly’s exquisite artistry inspires me on a daily basis, and I am beyond grateful for the chance to tell stories in their world.”
Though Resurrections did manage to bring back a lot of the principal cast like Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss, a lot of the meta-narrative seemed to be lost to fans; and it does seem like the Wachowskis were trying to tell the story of how they were reluctantly tied into making a legacy sequel. Not to mention a lot of the COVID restrictions around the time of shooting probably made the production hard to pull off. We wonder whether Grande will be able to pull it off if the rumors are true.
So far, it does seem like Goddard may have a more audience-friendly version of The Matrix in mind. I’m just hoping he somehow manages to tie-in Resurrections one way or another.
No release date has been announced for the next Matrix movie.
]]>Check this out:
The movie is being very intentionally vague about their marketing, and the only synopsis that fans have so far is this: A billionaire’s death sets off a chain of events for Iris and her friends during a weekend trip to his lakeside estate.
By the looks of it, Thatcher is playing some kind of sophisticated sex robot that is altered by Quaid’s character, but things go horribly awry when she becomes sentient and starts going after her owners.
If you’ve watched Barbarian, you’ll expect Companion to have an unpredictable story that just goes to unexpected places. While the sex robot thing could be one part of the story, it’s possible that the trailer is hiding some other big twist that could come out of nowhere.
I’ll admit, a January release looks like the studio didn’t have much faith in the movie, but so far Companion looks interesting, and the quality of Barbarian alone should entice someone to check out the movie. It should be a great herald to the upcoming Valentine’s season. Who wants to take their girlfriend to see Captain America 4?
Watch out for Companion when it hit theatres on Jan 31.
]]>With the movie coming out in 2027, a lot of fans are bummed that they would have to wait longer, but Reeves has confirmed that development is pretty much underway with the movie expecting to shoot this year.
While rumors have been flying around for who the villain is, Reeves has shared that he’s not allowed to share who it is yet officially—but he has confirmed that at this point in the development, he’s already picked who the Dark Knight will go up against and it’s possible it could surprise audiences. Talking to Josh Horowitz at the Golden Globes, he does say, “I think that the story is a continuation in a certain way, and completely different in another, and it’s going to show a different side of [Robert Pattinson]. It’s going to be really cool.”
Since a lot of fans were expecting Mr. Freeze for years now, it’s possible that he won’t be the main villain of the sequel, but it’s been a while since he’s been adapted in live-action so it’s likely he could show up. There is also the guess that Barry Keoghan’s Joker is going to take the spotlight, but at this point, it does seem like they could be saving him for the main clash in the third movie.
So far, Reeves’ Gotham has been able to keep all the villains grounded and interesting, and fans are hoping that he manages to keep this streak going. After the success of The Penguin, the pressure is definitely on for Reeves to deliver with Part II.
I mean, why else are fans waiting this long?
The Batman Part II is expected to hit theatres Oct. 1, 2027.
]]>Come Dune though, Zendaya found herself wearing an intricate suit as well (i.e., the Fremen stillsuits), and because she didn’t want to have an accident in her costume, she unwittingly gave herself a heatstroke. Talking to Variety, Zendaya explains:
“We were in Jordan. It was very hot, and I remember thinking, ‘Oh, man, the bathrooms are so far away,’ because we had to hike to the locations… If you have to pee, you need at least 10 minutes to get out of the costumes. I was like, ‘Damn, I don’t want to drink too much water.’ I had such a fear of peeing myself or shitting myself, honestly, in the suit on set. One day, I didn’t drink enough and I had a heatstroke. I felt so barfy. I remember calling my mom on the bathroom floor, saying, ‘I feel terrible.’ She was like, ‘Did you drink water today?’ I said no. I thought I was being smart, but you can’t do that. So, lesson learned.”
Though Zendaya did have a problem with staying hydrated, she does admit that her body was in the best shape possible for Dune because she was working on Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers where she plays a pro tennis player. Zendaya explains, “What was so great is I had been training with the boys on ‘Challengers’ every day and was in the best shape that I had been in a really long time… For ‘Dune,’ the costumes were very heavy and restrictive. The first few weeks, your body’s quite sore. When I was walking through the sand every day, my butt looked great. So that worked out! I was prepared.”
Zendaya is expected to return for the third Dune movie to reprise the role of Chani, but it’s unclear where her character is going to go. Originally in the books, Chani was pretty much going along with Paul’s plan to dominate the Imperium, but by the end of Part Two, Chani and Paul part ways because Chani knows that Paul’s rise was just another way to enslave the Fremen and obtain spice from Arrakis.
Dune: Messiah is expected to come out Dec. 16, 2026.
]]>With no one cast for Batman: Brave and the Bold, Creature Commandos has surprisingly given fans a tease of what Batman could look like in the universe—and there’s still some Batfleck influence in there. Check this out:
First look at Batman in the DCU. pic.twitter.com/LvKanWwTYT
— DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) January 2, 2025
Though we only got a silhouette of him, this does seem to confirm that the DCU’s version of Batman will also be stocky, as compared to Battinson who is kind of lean and decked out with combat gear.
As far as fans know, development has been going slowly for The Brave and the Bold. We know that IT and Flash director Andy Muschietti will be at the helm, but we don’t have news of a star who will take on the mantle of the DCU’s main Batman.
When it comes to the story, this does look like it’s going to be another middle-aged Batman. It’s said that this time around, Batman will have to face his son Damien Wayne and teach him how to be his new Robin. With that in mind, it’s possible that the movie will also introduce the rest of the Bat-family including former Robins like Dick Grayson and Jason Todd; as well as Batgirl/Oracle Barbara Gordon.
I’ll admit, the fans do feel like they’re getting antsy with the pace DC Studios is going, but seeing as how Marvel is kind of in a hole themselves, maybe Gunn’s direction will be better for the franchise in the long run.
Creature Commandos is now streaming on Max. Batman: The Brave and the Bold is yet to get a release date, but is expected to come out in a few years.
]]>According to insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), a fourth Dune movie is already moving forward even without Denis Villeneuve, and it’s expected to cover the story of the Atreides that follow after Paul. Though it’s unclear where Villeneuve is going with Messiah, it’s speculated that he’s going to go way off book this time around; especially with the change in Chani’s character.
In the original book, Chani was devoted to Paul and was aware of his plan to take Irulan as his bride. But in the movie, Chani rejects Paul toward the end, since she knows that his rise as the Kwisatz Haderach is nothing more but the continuation of Bene Gesserit plan that would keep the Fremen enslaved.
The further the Dune books went, things just went a lot weirder, with one of Paul and Chani’s children living for centuries and becoming a human/worm hybrid. The ending of Messiah will probably inform how Dune 4 will go, but as of now, some are doubting the franchise being able to move forward without Villeneuve.
On the other hand, it does seem that Dune: Prophecy is doing pretty well for itself, despite not getting the same hype as the original films.
For now, it’s best to take the news with a grain of salt, but hopefully more will be revealed as development for Dune: Messiah continues. The movie is expected to hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2026.
]]>As it turns out, Momoa is getting his wish, and The Hollywood Reporter confirms that he’ll be playing the part of alien bounty hunter Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. There hasn’t been much details revealed about the role, but Momoa will be starring alongside Milly Alcock, who is best known for playing the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of House of the Dragon.
Interestingly enough, the role that brought Momoa to the spotlight was that of Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones where he was also paired up with a Targaryen princess.
For context, Lobo was created in the 80s by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and he’s essentially an immortal space biker who can go toe-to-toe with Superman. He’s belligerent and rude, and occasionally a little funny—kind of like Marvel’s Deadpool that doesn’t break the fourth wall too much.
With Momoa’s offscreen persona as this long-haired muscle bro, the role of Lobo does seem like the perfect fit for him. Admittedly, I was invested in Zack Snyder’s version of Aquaman before he got all jokey, but maybe Momoa has something interesting to bring with this character.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is expected to come to theatres in June 26, 2026. Alock is expected to make an appearance in Superman which comes out July 11, 2025.
]]>Having worked on both franchise, Grillo talks about how enthusiastic he is to be jumping over to DC after his run with Marvel. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, he says:
“They’re very different… Marvel’s a different machine, and it’s great in its own right, but the thing I love about James’ and Peter’s DC is that it’s much more contained. It’s so much more personal and I really enjoy it better. I just love being part of something in the embryonic stage and being able to grow with it and watch it and flourish.”
Admittedly, Grillo did not have the most major part when he was working with Marvel, and was kind of the face of the villain’s muscle when he was introduced in Winter Soldier. Sure he was able to put on his comic-inspired outfit in Civil War, but he was eventually killed off in the first act.
Even then, I think that Grillo did his best to be memorable in the films, and he seems like a great choice for Rick Flagg Sr. Though we’ve seen the animated version essentially take the place of the original Rick Flagg, we’ve yet to see Grillo appear as the character in live-action. We’ll have to wait for Superman to come out in July before we can see that.
From that point, we should expect Grillo to appear in subsequent movies as Flagg. Hopefully they do something more with him than just being another muscle for the main villain (this time Amanda Waller).
Grillo is in Creature Commandos now streaming on Max.
]]>According to Variety, The Batman Part II, which was expected to come out in 2026, has been delayed for another year; which means that it’s now expected to hi theatres on October 1, 2027.
It’s not clear exactly why the delay is happening, but some fans are guessing that it could have something to do with Battinson’s connection to the DCU. DC Studios co-head James Gunn has been open about wanting this Batman to be part of the official canon, but Matt Reeves had been adamant that this universe works well by itself.
Some are guessing that either Reeves is taking the extra time to rework The Batman Part II to fit into the world of the DCU, or—my personal preference—he’s actually developing Part II and III of The Batman, and they’re planning on shooting the movies back to back.
This was how Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean were made, and so far they’ve been very lucrative properties in the box office.
With The Batman getting delayed again, fans are admittedly frustrated that they’ll have to wait even longer for the return of Battinson. If anything, it’s a testament to how many people loved Reeves take.
You’re beginning to test my patience moustache man. pic.twitter.com/9C1z8WHe4Z

Who knows, maybe we’ll get that Clayface movie and Penguin Season 2 during the wait. Hopefully DCU makes an update soon.
The Batman Part II is now gearing up to release on Oct. 1, 2027.

Look up. #Superman only in theaters July 11. pic.twitter.com/hXaGAtRAGB
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 16, 2024
Though the theme does sound new, it’s actually John Williams’ original Superman theme, but slowed down. It has been said that Williams’ original score will be part of the 2025 movie, and the composer John Murphy (The Suicide Squad) is going to be incorporating it into what could be a wholly original theme. Here’s the original Williams score just to compare:
Music has always been essential to the characterization of Superman, and that’s why his theme from the original movie is still so iconic. That being said, I did love that the DCEU did attempt at giving each hero original themes. Hans Zimmer’s score for Man of Steel was a great follow-up, and even Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman theme has its own place in the fandom’s heart.
The pressure is on for Gunn and Peter Safran to deliver a new DCU, and after middling reviews for Creature Commandos, people are hoping that Superman manages to be something different from Gunn this time. After Guardians, his signature bits have started to get obvious to a lot of his fans.
Watch out for Superman when it soars into theatres on July 11, 2025.
]]>In a recent interview with The Playlist, writer Philippa Boyens confirmed that they are in talks with original actor Viggo Mortensen to see if he would want to return as the Gondorian heir. She says:
“Honestly, that’s entirely going to be up to Viggo, collaboratively and we are at a very early stage… I’ve spoken to Viggo, Andy [Serkis] has spoken to him, Peter [Jackson] has spoken to him, we’ve all spoken to each other and honestly, I cannot imagine anyone else playing Aragorn, but it will be completely and entirely up to Viggo.”
Apparently, the decision is ‘several, several months away’, and no script has been handed to Mortensen yet. If he does choose to reprise the role, there would be have to be some de-aging involved (Mortensen is already 66-years-old); but if they decide to recast, they still want Mortensen involved in some way in order to properly pass the torch to the next Aragorn.
If anything, they could probably use old Aragorn as a narrative device and have him narrate the story of his younger self—much like Ian Holm did for the Hobbit movies. There’s probably a lot of room to play around with old Aragorn, and maybe we can even see other older characters like Merry and Pippin who were buried beside Aragorn in Gondor.
So far, no release date has been set for Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, but it’s expected to hit theatres in 2026.
