Jurassic World Rebirth is expected to hit theaters this July, and the first trailer for the film has been dropped. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the movie:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

Academy Award® nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that had once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park. There, in a terrain populated by dinosaurs of vastly different species, they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.

Admittedly, the last Jurassic World film Dominion wasn’t considered a critical hit, but overall the movies have been considered box office earners, so it would make sense that Universal would want to keep this ball rolling.

With Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard out of the picture though, it looks like the new leads are going to be ScarJo and Jonathan Bailey—who plays a scientist who wants to collect the dino samples for ‘the future of humanity’.

With Rogue One director Gareth Edward at the helm, I’m excited to see what kind of spectacle Rebirth is going to bring to screen. As long as the kids love it, I don’t really have a high bar for these Jurassic films.

Watch out for Jurassic World Rebirth when it comes to cinemas on July 2.

Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron Join Christopher Nolan’s Next Project https://www.geekfeed.com/more-join-christopher-nolans-next-project/ Thu, 28 Nov 2024 09:51:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85393 Very few directors manage to earn the status of modern auteur, and Christopher Nolan definitely fits the bill.

After the smashing success of his biopic Oppenheimer, Nolan is now ready to sink his teeth into his next project, which has gathered an impressive cast including Tom Holland and Matt Damon. Now THR is reporting that the likes of Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron are also going to be part of the cast.

No details have been revealed about the roles, but when it comes to Pattinson’s character, some are expecting it to just be a small role. After all, he’s expected to spend most of his time next year shooting the sequel to The Batman with director Matt Reeves.

It’s also worth noting that Pattinson also worked with Nolan in his last action movie Tenet, which also had several A-list actors playing bit parts.

Besides the cast members mentioned, Nolan’s next movie has also managed to include Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Zendaya. No details have been revealed about the movie, but there are rumors going around that it would either have something to do with a high-tech helicopter or be horror film that’s also a period piece.

Based on Nolan’s repertoire, he’s managed to tackle most genres from sci-fi, including jumping forward in time and going back. Who knows, maybe this time he’ll take a stab at buddy comedies?

Christopher Nolan’s next movie is set to release in theatres on July 17, 2026.

First Look: Universal’s Dark Universe Comes to Life via Animatronics https://www.geekfeed.com/first-look-universals-dark-universe-come-to-life/ Fri, 01 Nov 2024 21:39:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85039 Universal may not have been able to launch their Dark Universe in the box office, but the IP for characters like Frankenstein’s Monster and the Wolfman are still pretty lucrative on their own.

Earlier this year, Universal had announced that their Dark Universe characters were going to be part of their ‘Epic Universe’ theme park which is set to open next year, and we just got a first look at some animatronics for characters like The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolf Man, and Dracula. Check these out:

Though stills of the characters look pretty amazing, it’s when they start to move is when it gets pretty impressive. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the ride:

“Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment will take guests deep into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein – the great-great-granddaughter of the infamous Henry Frankenstein – conducts her twisted and misguided experiments… In a vain display of her genius, she invites guests to witness a demonstration of her ability to control monsters – but her plans go awry when a horde of enraged monsters are unleashed. Guests then embark on a terrifying ride through the darkness as they try to evade Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and more.”

We don’t know if there are more unmentioned monsters that will be appearing on the ride, but the video did say that there are going to be 14 special animatronics that will be in the manor. Then again, it’s possible that they have multiple animatronics of the same character so they can ‘follow’ guests along for the ride.

Universal may have a hard time getting these monsters back on the big screen in the Dark Universe, but the ride should be fun enough on its own. The monster designs are still iconic, and anyone can easily get spooked by Frankenstein’s monster even if they haven’t seen any of the movies.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment is set to launch alongside the Epic Universe which opens sometime in 2025.

Next Jurassic World Film Gets Official Title, Synopsis, and First Images https://www.geekfeed.com/next-jurassic-world-film-official-announcements/ Sat, 31 Aug 2024 19:45:07 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84060 Jurassic World Dominion may not have gotten the best critical reviews, but the movie still made a lot of bank, and Universal is looking to keep continuing the franchise moving forward.

Now they’ve officially revealed the title for the next film. Here’s the official announcement:

Just in case the tweet doesn’t load, the movie will be called Jurassic World Rebirth and it will be hitting theatres on July 2025. Here are also some official stills with new leads Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.

Though Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard won’t be making a return, the movie is still pretty much set in the same continuity as the rest of the Jurassic World films. The official synopsis (via Empire) reads:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

“Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”

With Rogue One, Godzilla, and The Creator director Gareth Edwards at the helm, fans are expecting this Jurassic World movie to have a very interesting sense of scale. With Creator also pushing the boundary for CG, it’s going to be interesting to see just what kinds of visuals Edwards and his team can come up with when it comes to Rebirth.

I’m just hoping that screenwriter David Koepp has a great story for Rebirth. Edwards has never been strong when it comes to narrative, but at least with him at the helm, we know we’re going to be in for one hell of a visual feast.

Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long for the trailer.

Jurassic World Rebirth is set to hit theatres on July 2025.

Return to Oz in Latest Trailer for Wicked https://www.geekfeed.com/return-to-oz-in-latest-trailer-for-wicked/ Sat, 18 May 2024 10:34:01 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82471 Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful never really did build up to that Wicked adaptation, but we have a new attempt at reinventing the land of Oz with Cynthia Erivo and Arian Grande.

Check out the latest trailer for Wicked:

The official description for Wicked reads:

Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, stars Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart.

The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraodinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Other actors included in the cast are Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Keala Settle. Of course, we also shouldn’t forget the guy playing the infamous Wizard of Oz—Jeff Goldblum.

Wicked is considered to be the first part of a two-part ‘cultural celebration’, and is being helmed by Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights director Jon M. Chu.

With the play split in two acts, I’m guessing that the first part film is going to cover the events pre-Wizard of Oz, and the sequel is going to focus on Elphaba’s story after she has her encounter with Dorothy and is ‘melted with water’.

Wicked is admittedly one of the biggest Broadway musicals of all time, and Univeral is pretty aware of that. Good thing they already locked in the sequel for a release next year—unlike Dune which had to wait before the sequel could get greenlit.

The first part of Wicked comes out Nov. 27 this year, and the sequel releases on Nov. 26, 2025.

Scarlett Johansson has been Offered to Lead the next Jurassic World Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/johansson-to-lead-the-next-jurassic-world-movie/ Mon, 18 Mar 2024 09:43:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81506 Marvel Studios star Scarlett Johansson seems to have slowed down ever since the release of Black Widow, but it’s possible she’s ready to jump back into the blockbuster franchise business.

According to The InSneider, Johansson is currently being offered the leading part of the next Jurassic World movie which will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Should Johansson be cast, she would be following the footsteps of another Marvel star, Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) who was the male lead of the last three Jurassic films. I guess Bryce Dallas Howard was also in a Spider-Man film at one point, but that was way before the MCU was even a thing.

No official story has been revealed for the next Jurassic World movie, but it is expected to take place around the same continuity as the rest of the Jurassic films. So we should expect dinosaurs to have been roaming the earth again for a while. The story could possibly go several ways, but hopefully they have an interesting new entrypoint to tackle the narrative if they’re going to launch a new trilogy.

Personally, I thought that the Jurassic World films were fine. It was odd that Dominion focused mostly on these weird super-locusts, but I thought the idea of having the dinosaurs escape the park and once again make their place on the planet was a pretty inspired decision. I guess I was just hoping to see more of how the humans were going to be dealing with T-rexs just walking around.

The next Jurassic World movie is aiming for a release on July 2, 2025.

Glen Powell Trades Jet Planes for Tornadoes in Trailer for Twisters https://www.geekfeed.com/powell-chases-tornadoes-in-trailer-for-twisters/ Fri, 16 Feb 2024 17:47:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81069 The 90s came out with a lot of great disaster movies, and one that manages to stand out is Twister starring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. The movie followed the story of a group of storm chasers who had to face one of the most violent tornadoes ever in order to make an advanced weather alert system. The movie had done well in the box office, and now decades later, they’re now looking to make a sequel called Twisters.

Check out the trailer for Twisters:

The official description for the film reads:

From the producers of the Jurassic, Bourne and Indiana Jones series comes Twisters, a current-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster, Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar® nominated writer-director of Minari, Twisters stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People) and Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) as opposing forces who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes.

Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

Admittedly, it’s hard to gauge just how popular the Twister franchise is after all these years, but a lot of audiences who have seen the original will definitely spot a few easter eggs in the trailer.

For one, the original film had something to do with wireless sensors being released to find out the pattern of the storm, and it looks like there’s going to be an updated version of that in this film that uses some kind of advanced drones.

If the premise isn’t also going to draw you in, it’s possible that the movie is going to be depending on the star power of Powell, Edgar-Jones, and Ramos—who have all been in highly-regarded properties over the past few years.

Twisters is set to blow away theaters this summer on July 19.

Defy Gravity in First Look at Wicked https://www.geekfeed.com/defy-gravity-in-first-look-at-wicked/ Tue, 13 Feb 2024 11:26:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81025 Fans thought 2013’s Oz the Great and Powerful would build up to a Wicked adaptation, but that movie managed to fizzle out in the box office. Now Universal is ready to come back to the land of Oz with an adaptation of the hit musical Wicked, and we have our first look thanks to the Superbowl.

Check out Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) in the new teaser:

Here’s the official description:

Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The film also stars Oscar® winner Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University’s regal headmistress Madame Morrible; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers) as Fiyero, a roguish and carefree prince; Tony nominee Ethan Slater (Broadway’s Spongebob Squarepants, Fosse/Verdon) as Boq, an altruistic Munchkin student; Marissa Bode in her feature-film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s favored sister; and pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz.

The movie is directed by Jon M. Chu who is best known for his work with In the Heights; he’s also the director behind Crazy Rich Asians—which kind of explains how Michelle Yeoh is in the film.

Though I thought that 2013’s Oz reboot had an interesting angle, it never did get the same popularity that Wicked managed to have, and I’m sure a lot of audience members who haven’t seen the musical are excited to see what all the fuss is about.

It’s going to be exciting to watch Erivo and Grande be at the heart of the movie, but Wicked also managed to do some dynamite casting with Jeff Goldblum who I’m sure is going to add that zany nuance to a character like the Wizard.

Wicked is set to release in theaters on Nov. 27.

Next Jurassic World Movie Announces 2025 Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/jurassic-world-movie-announces-2025-release-date/ Thu, 08 Feb 2024 16:07:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80936 It was only a few weeks ago when it was reported that another Jurassic World movie was in the works, and though we don’t have any details on the story, Universal has revealed a release date for the upcoming film.

Here’s the post from the official Jurassic World twitter:

So far, the post didn’t come with any teasers as to what to expect with this film, but it is said that the movie will be focusing on a whole new cast of characters this time around; so don’t hold your breath for Chris Pratt or Bryce Dallas Howard to make a return.

Despite the movies being critically panned when they came out, the Jurassic World movies still managed to make a lot of bank in the box office; so it won’t be any surprise that Universal would want to make more of these films.

With Dominion, the dinosaurs pretty much are established as part of the world once more, and humans will just have to embrace the possibility of forests that could have a roaming T-rex or a mosasaurus suddenly appearing on a beach somewhere.

I can’t speculate much about where the story could go, but I would imagine that the world would have to change to be able to accommodate for the sudden existence of all these giant animals that can tear through houses and vehicles like nothing.

Fingers crossed we get a teaser before the year ends.

The next Jurassic World movie comes out July 2, 2025.

Monkey Man: Jordan Peele Produces Dev Patel’s Directorial Debut https://www.geekfeed.com/monkey-man-dev-patels-directorial-debut/ Mon, 29 Jan 2024 10:02:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80809 Actor Dev Patel’s breakthrough role was back in 2008 when Slumdog Millionaire came out, and though he’s been a prolific actor ever since, he looks to be coming back to the slums with his directorial debut.

Here’s the first look at Monkey Man:

The official synopsis reads:

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.

After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

Besides Patel being at the helm, the movie also boasts Jordan Peele (Get Out, Nope) attached as a producer; and it seems pretty apparent with the trailer having so many visually striking images from the monkey mask to the fighters wearing costumes inspired by Indian folklore.

If anything, the movie does feel like a cross between the John Wick franchise and Slumdog Millionaire, with a poor kid rising from the slums; but instead of a game show, he manages to stick it to the higher-ups with some insane martial arts.

We don’t know how Monkey Man will fare in cinemas, but everyone is already excited for Patel to take center stage.

Watch out for Monkey Man when it releases in theaters on April 5.

Abigail Trailer: Move Over M3GAN, A New Tiny Movie Monster is Here https://www.geekfeed.com/abigail-trailer-a-new-tiny-movie-monster-is-here/ Tue, 16 Jan 2024 15:33:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80590 Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) is the directing team behind Ready or Not and the last two Scream films, and they have one new horror movie that puts a twist on the classic genre.

Check out the trailer for Abigail starring Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Clous, and Alisha Weir:

The official description of the story reads:

Children can be such monsters.

After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.

If you’ve watched anything from Radio Silence before, you’ll know that they usually put an interesting twist to any established genre, and it looks like they’re going to be poking fun at vampires now. Though a lot of Abigail does seem pretty horrific, we can see some of the comedy elements actually shine a little in some of the dialogue.

I guess it’s just odd to watch the girl from Netflix’s Matilda actually be a killer vampire now. With her being all catty and loving to dance, I have a feeling that Abigail is going to be the next gay horror icon besides M3GAN.

Catch Abigail when it comes into theaters this April 19.

WATCH ‘Proof of Concept’ Trailer for a Reboot of Small Soldiers https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-trailer-for-a-reboot-of-small-soldiers/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 16:23:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77521 Small Soldiers was a sci-fi cult film that featured military-enhanced toys gaining sentience and starting their own toy-sized war in the suburbs. The film wasn’t critically praised when it came out, but it has found a soft spot in the hearts of every child who grew up in the 90s.

With so many properties getting rebooted recently, Comadran Studios has decided to release this ‘Proof of Concept’ video that pitches a reboot of Small Soldiers universe for modern audiences.

Here’s the official description that came with the video:

Hey there, YouTube community! We are happy to announce the Proof of Concept trailer for our next big project at Comadran Studios. Get ready to dive into the extraordinary world of Small Soldiers, an epic toy battle brought to life in Unreal Engine 5, pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling to new heights!

For context, here’s a trailer for the original ‘90s film:

We don’t know why the trailer doesn’t feature the Commando Elite or Gorgonites from the original film, but it’s possible that the studio doesn’t have the rights to publish any material including those characters. If you watch the trailer though, you’ll see that the designs of the characters are very much inspired (specifically the Commandos), even the one Nekronite soldier looks like Archer.

The original film was such a VFX treat, and if the movie manages to look anything like the trailer, I think audiences would be in for a special kind of action/adventure movie.

We don’t know if a Small Soldiers film is officially happening yet, but I’d definitely want to see one in the big screen soon.

The Night Shift Begins in New Trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-five-nights-at-freddys-movie/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 11:28:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77509 Josh Hutcherson may not have been starring in any huge films since The Hunger Games, but he’s going to be coming back to the big screen this Halloween season with Universal’s adaptation of the cult Five Nights at Freddy’s game.

The movie is set to release in October, and we have a new trailer giving us a good look at the story. Check this out:

The official description reads:

Can you survive five nights?

The terrifying horror game phenomenon becomes a blood-chilling cinematic event, as Blumhouse— the producer of M3GAN, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man— brings Five Nights at Freddy’s to the big screen.

The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

The film basically checks all the boxes when it comes to the original FNAF game, with Hutcherson playing the role of unluckiest security guard of all time, but the trailer does reveal a new element to the story in that the main character Mike has to protect his kid sister from the rest of the murder-bots that are roaming around the abandoned restaurant.

With HBO’s The Last of Us having set a new standard for video game adaptations, a lot of fans wonder how the FNAF movie is going to fare. Then again, this is a franchise about murderous Chuck E. Cheese mascot ripoffs, so we shouldn’t expect things to get too intellectual.

What we should expect are scares, killer robots, and maybe a reference to a meme or two.

Five Nights at Freddy’s comes to cinemas and starts streaming on Peacock on Oct. 27.

Dracula Returns to Horror in Trailer for The Last Voyage of the Demeter https://www.geekfeed.com/trailer-for-the-last-voyage-of-the-demeter/ Fri, 14 Apr 2023 12:49:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76338 Universal may be doing a take on Dracula with Nicolas Cage in Renfield, but they’re set to bring the character back to its horror roots with The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Check out the first trailer:

Here’s the official story description:

Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London.

Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

Undoubtedly, the most famous person in the cast is Liam Cunningham, who had played another sea farer in Game of Thrones, Davos Seaworth (a.k.a. The Onion Knight). While I expect his character to die at some point in the film, it’s pretty neat that they got him to play another sea captain.

With Dracula Untold not being the franchise starter that Universal hoped, I’m excited to see all these new experimental takes on classic monsters with movies like The Invisible Man. I guess I’m just happy to watch a film that’s focused on telling one contained story as compared to the blockbusters that sometimes get lost in hyping up the next three films in the franchise.

Watch out for The Last Voyage of the Demeter when it comes to cinemas on Aug. 11.

Violent Night Starring David Harbour is Getting a Sequel https://www.geekfeed.com/violent-night-starring-david-harbour-has-a-sequel/ Mon, 30 Jan 2023 17:13:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73134 Red looks good on David Harbour with roles like Hellboy and Red Guardian in Black Widow, and last Christmas he was Jolly Old Saint Nick in Violent Night. The movie was a sleeper hit on release, and we have news that a sequel is underway.

This was confirmed by director Tommy Wirkola who tells The Wrap, “We’re talking about [a Violent Night sequel] and we’re just making deals and getting everything in order.” No details were released when it came to the story, but we should expect the film to expand the lore of this version of Kris Kringle.

If anything, Wirkola did confirm that there are still a lot of things in the Christmas lore that they have yet to touch. He explains, “There’s stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves… But story-wise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope, but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”

Who knows, maybe the sequel could take place in the North Pole this time with Santa and his elves trying to save a Mrs. Clause that’s been taken hostage. I would absolutely love it if they brought in some more Christmas figures to rumble with David Harbour. How about a crossover with The Grinch? Universal did release the film back in 2000, and I would kind of love to see Jim Carrey back in the role. Maybe it could be a buddy-cop action comedy this time around?

No release date has been announced for Violent Night 2, but we should expect the movie to come out in a Christmas down the line (maybe 2024).

Dave Bautista Stars in Latest Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin https://www.geekfeed.com/dave-bautista-stars-in-knock-at-the-cabin/ Mon, 26 Dec 2022 15:58:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72630 Dave Bautista is just collaborating with great directors left and right, and after Glass Onion with Rian Johnson, he has Knock at the Cabin with M. Night Shyamalan. The movie is set to come out in February, and we have a new trailer that further explains the plot of the film.

Watch this:

Here’s the official description:

While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.

You really have to hand it to Bautista. Though he could have easily just kept playing action roles like any other ex-pro wrestler, he’s managed to land roles outside of his type and has even collaborated with modern-day auteurs like Denis Villeneuve and Rian Johnson. I’m sure his character in this film doesn’t even need to be as huge as him, but somehow he looks pretty convincing.

Since this is a Shyamalan project, I can already expect the dialogue to be sub-par, but I think he’s still pretty masterful when it comes to horror and visuals, and of course, we should expect some kind of crazy twist in the story as well.

Seeing that the film is set to release in a dump month, I’m already skeptical about the studio’s faith in the project, but we’ll see where it goes.

Knock at the Cabin is set to release in theaters on Feb. 3, 2023.

M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.

When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

The movie actually puts a special twist on the killer doll cliché. Whereas the doll usually wants to murder the child in a slowly agonizing fashion, M3GAN wants to protect the child she’s bonded to—but that doesn’t bode well for anyone who gets in Cady’s way—not even her guardian aunt.

Though the movie is set to come out in dump month January, the release has actually been pushed forward by a week, which could mean some kind of faith from the studio.

Catch M3GAN when it comes to cinemas on Jan. 6, 2023.

Violent Night is David Harbour’s Violent Christmas Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/violent-night-david-harbour-christmas-movie/ Fri, 07 Oct 2022 09:21:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71459 We’ve seen several takes on the Santa Claus tale from The Santa Clause to Elf, but fans aren’t ready for this new take on Santa starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour.

Check out the trailer for Violent Night:

The official synopsis reads:

When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour, Black Widow, Stranger Things series) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

The movie feels like Die Hard, only this time, they’ve taken John McClane out of the story and turned him into actual Santa Claus. You still have the greedy terrorists who are holding people hostage in a building, but now McClane is a magical fat man that has access to flying reindeer and an endless sack of presents.

It’s aso worth noting that the producers behind this film, 87North, are also the same people behind films like Atomic Blonde, Nobody, and the most recent Bullet Train; so we should expect some top notch action choreography laced with some Christmas magic.

It’s a very silly twist to the Christmas movie formula, and that’s probably what got the film made. Harbour is a fun talent, and besides Santa Claus, he’s already played several ‘red’ bruiser characters like Hellboy and Red Guardian from Black Widow. Who knew Santa was going to be on that list?

Catch Violent Night when it hits cinemas on Dec. 2.

Julia Roberts & George Clooney are Bitter Divorcees in Ticket to Paradise https://www.geekfeed.com/julia-roberts-george-clooney-are-bitter-divorcees-in-ticket-to-paradise/ Mon, 04 Jul 2022 07:03:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=69033 Julia Roberts and George Clooney may be considered A-list actors who only work on ‘serious’ films, but once in a while, you have them in some lighthearted comedy set in a tropical resort.

Watch the two play bitter divorcees that have to play nice in Ticket to Paradise:

Here’s the official description:

Academy Award® winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen as exes who find themselves on a shared mission to stop their lovestruck daughter from making the same mistake they once made. From Working Title, Smokehouse Pictures and Red Om Films, Ticket to Paradise is a romantic comedy about the sweet surprise of second chances.

Besides Clooney and Roberts, the movie also reunites Booksmart co-stars Kaitlyn Dever and Billie Lourd. We already know that Clooney and Roberts are seriously talented actors, but Dever and Lourd have also proven to be some great up-and-coming talent. Hopefully they can keep up with the likes of the two Academy Award-winning leads.

If you ask me, the film looks like your pretty standard vacation comedy, and you can probably swap out the leads with Adam Sandler or Jennifer Aniston. My guess is that Clooney and Roberts’ characters will find a way to fall back in love with each other, but seeing that that would be incredibly predictable, I’m open to director Ol Parker to try and surprise the audience with this film.

Ticket to Paradise is set for a release on Oct. 21.

Bros: Billy Eichner Leads Gay Rom-Com in Latest Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/bros-billy-eichner-leads-gay-rom-com-in-latest-trailer/ Wed, 22 Jun 2022 11:27:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66590 Billy on the Street’s Billy Eichner is making the jump from his reality TV show to the big screen with the upcoming romantic comedy Bros. The film is set to hit theaters in October, and we have a new trailer for the unapologetically gay rom-com.

Watch the trailer for Bros here:

The official description reads:

Universal Pictures proudly presents the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.

From the ferocious comic mind of Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, 2019’s The Lion King, Difficult People, Impeachment: American Crime Story) and the hitmaking brilliance of filmmakers Nicholas Stoller (the Neighbors films, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Judd Apatow (The King of Staten Island, Trainwreck, The Big Sick), comes Bros, a smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about how hard it is to find another tolerable human being to go through life with.

Besides the focus on modern gay dating life, the movie looks to be going with a meta approach when it comes to the tropes associated with romantic comedies—only this time, the focus is on a couple of gay men. The humor feels pretty much like 2014’s They Came Together starring Paul Rudd and Amy Schumer, but maybe this time people will actually go and see it in theaters.

I always enjoy Eichner’s sharp comedy wit, and I’m pretty excited to see him actually lead a movie for once. Though I do miss his over-the-top outrage which we don’t see in the trailer, I think marketing is saving it for the actual movie.

Catch Bros when it comes to theaters on Oct. 28.
