Just in, they’ve dropped the first trailer for The Wild Robot which is set to release this September. Check this out:

The official story synopsis reads:

The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

The series is actually based on a children’s book series by author Peter Brown that came out around the mid-2010s. Two books have been made in the series, with the first being The Wild Robot, followed up the next year by The Wild Robot Escapes.

The movie has also managed to gather a star-studded cast which includes Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) as the lead Roz. Other cast members include Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Bill Nighy (About Time), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Matt Berry (What We Do In the Shadows), Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible), and Mark Hamill (Star Wars).

Sci-fi is definitely new for DreamWorks for now, but we know that there are some great animated properties that have come out for the genre. I mean, just look at Netflix’s Love, Death, and Robots.

The Wild Robot is set to hit theaters this coming September 20.

Shrek, Hiccup, and More Race for Supremacy in First Look at DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing https://www.geekfeed.com/first-look-at-dreamworks-all-star-kart-racing/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 08:17:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79452 Disney may be dominating the animated movie landscape, but DreamWorks has a bunch of their own beloved animated properties from Shrek to Trolls; and just like Disney, they’ve decided to take their beloved IP and mash them all into a kart racing game.

Here’s the first look at gameplay for DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing:

An all-star cast of some of your favorite DreamWorks characters brings the fun and hilarity to high-speed kart racing action like never before! Race on 20 different DreamWorks-themed tracks, including Shrek’s Swamp, New York City Zoo from Madagascar, Isle of Berk, and more! 20 of the most iconic DreamWorks characters: Shrek, Po, Tigress, Puss in Boots, Hiccup, Astrid, Boss Baby, and other top favorites all come together in a kart racing experience like no other.

If an IP didn’t go the kart-racing route—like Disney with Disney Speedstorm—they usually go for a Smash Bros. clone like Nickelodeon did with their All-Star Brawler or WB with Multiversus. I guess you really can’t fault DreamWorks for trying to mine something out of their valuable IP; it may take a while to develop a full movie or a solo game, but with kart racing clones they can probably entice multiple fandoms to check out the game with several characters involved. Plus, they can save on the pre-development as kart racers and Smash clones already have specific formulas on how they work with just a few tweaks expected here and there.

We don’t know how DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing will last over time, but it should keep Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon fans interested as they wait for the next movies to come down the line in the next few years.

DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing is set to launch on Nov. 3.

*NYSNC Teases New Song (in Over 20 Years) in Latest Trailer for Trolls Band Together https://www.geekfeed.com/nysnc-teases-new-song-in-over-20-years-in-trolls/ Tue, 19 Sep 2023 09:50:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78804 Justin Timberlake may have left his boy band days behind him, but it looks like the next Trolls movie is going to be bringing that back for him with Band Together.

A new trailer has been dropped for the film, and it teases a whole new song by none other than Timberlake’s original boy band, *NYSYNC. Watch this:

With the earlier Trolls movies having released hit songs with Can’t Stop the Feeling and Just Sing, it would only make sense that Band Together would also have a killer soundtrack. To think that they actually got *NSYNC to come together and make a new song with Timberlake again after 20 years is pretty crazy.

We’ve also known for a while that Branch was going to be reuniting with his extended family in this film, but it’s also great that it’s been revealed that Poppy also has her own long lost sister voiced by Camila Cabello.

Though the Trolls films never did get the level of box office status that Shrek or Kung Fu Panda had, they are still very solid films on their own right, and their soundtracks are always worth looking out for. Adults today may not bother with the hype around Trolls, but I’m sure the kids who grew up around the 2010s who watched the films on repeat are going to be buzzing about Poppy and Branch in the next decade.

Watch out for Trolls Band Together when it hits theaters on Nov. 17.

Poppy and Branch Tackle Boy Bands in Trailer for Trolls Band Together https://www.geekfeed.com/trolls-tackle-boy-bands-in-new-trailer/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 17:07:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76068 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish may have teased a return to the world of Shrek, but Dreamworks is going to be coming back to one of their newer musical IPs with the next Trolls movie.

Just in, we have a new trailer for Trolls Band Together; and it has the film tackling boy bands now. Check this out:

Here’s the official description:

After two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) are now officially, finally, a couple (#broppy)! As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. He was once part of her favorite boyband phenomenon, BroZone, with his four brothers: Floyd (Golden Globe nominated electropop sensation Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André; Sing 2), Spruce (Grammy winner Daveed Diggs; Hamilton) and Clay (Grammy winner Kid Cudi; Don’t Look Up). BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hasn’t seen his brothers since.

But when Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains—Velvet (Emmy winner Amy Schumer; Trainwreck) and Veneer (Grammy winner and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells; The Book of Mormon)—Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity.

With the second movie covering the different types of Trolls and the different musical genres, I was pretty curious where a sequel could go. I guess it’s pretty funny that they decided to embrace boy bands, seeing that Justin Timberlake was a member of NSYNC before he was starring in movies and doing music videos with Lonely Island.

Though Millenials and Gen-Z could be too old to be nostalgic about the Trolls franchise, I think it’s one of the better films to come out of Dreamworks. Not only does the world look unique, but the music is definitely the strongest element of these films.

Trolls Band Together is expected to release in theaters on Nov. 17.
