The series is set to premiere later this month, and we have a new trailer. Check this out:

Here’s the description as per Variety:

“The series follows the aftermath of Skynet, an AI being, gaining consciousness and waging its war against humanity in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” It becomes self-aware on Aug. 29, 1997, after which a war rages on for decades.

“Terminator Zero” is set in 2022 and follows a soldier, Eiko (Rosario Dawson), who is sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She journeys back to 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee (André Holland), who is working on another AI system, Kokono (Sonoya Mizuno) to compete with Skynet. Although it exists in the Terminator universe, it centers entirely around new characters.

The series comes from Production IG which is best known for anime titles like Ghost in the Shell and more recently Haikyu!!. Series director Masashi Kudo has worked on titles like Hayate the Combat Butler, and the series is written by Mattson Tomlin who is best known for Mother/Android.

It’s also worth noting that the terminator in this series is played by Timothy Olyphant (The Mandalorian). Though he’s dressed like the T-1000 cop we saw in T2, it does look like he’s a more old school model with the endoskeleton underneath the skin.

Honestly, it’s been a shame that the Terminator films can’t seem to get back on their feet, but the world of the Skynet apocalypse is just so iconic that I’m happy they decided to experiment and give us an anime series instead.

Fingers crossed this will be able to stand on its own, but hopefully it should be a treat for longtime Terminator fans.

Terminator Zero premieres on Netflix on Aug. 29.

Timothy Olyphant is a New Terminator in Trailer for Anime Terminator Zero https://www.geekfeed.com/trailer-for-anime-terminator-zero-released/ Thu, 18 Jul 2024 09:37:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83337 The Terminator franchise may not know where to take itself when it comes to the big screen, but it looks like it’s going to be taking a leaf out of DC’s book.

Just in, Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Terminator Zero from Skydance and Production IG. Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis for the series:

2022: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity.

Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he’s hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future, which forever alters the fate of his three children.

The series is directed by Masashi Kudo (Hayate the Combat Butler) and is said to be written by Mattson Tomlin (Mother/Android). The series will also feature the voice talents of Timothy Olyphant (The Mandalorian), Andre Holland (Moonlight), Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon), Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), and Ann Dowd (Hereditary).

It’s unclear how the story will connect with the mainline Terminator series, but it could be a possible reboot (again). Skynet has been a long-time enemy of the franchise, and it looks like they’ve found a new target in the form of scientist Malcolm Lee.

With the movies currently dormant, I’m open to seeing anyone try anything in the world of Terminator for now. The lore is still pretty fascinating, and I’m always open for IP to start experimenting when they don’t know which direction to go anymore.

Terminator Zero premieres on Netflix on Aug. 29.

The Book of Boba Fett Rumored to Bring Back Even More Faces from The Mandalorian https://www.geekfeed.com/the-book-of-boba-fett-rumored-to-bring-back-even-more-faces-from-the-mandalorian/ Tue, 13 Apr 2021 15:29:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59095 A rumor had gone around earlier this week that Pedro Pascal’s Mando from The Mandalorian could be making an appearance in the upcoming spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett. While that’s all exciting news, it looks like Din Djarin won’t be the only one making a comeback.

As per Kessel Run Transmissions, The Book of Boba Fett could possibly bring back the likes of Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant), Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), and Migs Mayfeld (Bill Burr). For now, this is just a rumor, but it’s very likely for Boba to run into these characters.

With Boba taking over Bib’s (formerly Jabba’s) palace, he would have to run into some more Tatooine locals, and one of them is the sheriff Cobb Vanth. Boba could also possibly be looking for some more mercenary work, and that’s where Greef could come in. I guess the more out-of-way appearance would be Mayfeld’s, but fans do love Burr’s character, and seeing that Boba had worked with him before, it’s possible that he would want to try working with him again. What I would love to see is Mayfeld’s Imperial days, back when he was still working as a sniper for the Empire.

We don’t have any new look at The Book of Boba Fett yet, but with a release set for later in the year, it would make sense for Lucasfilm to hold off on any marketing until sometime around June. With The Mandalorian being such a huge hit, everyone is just waiting in anticipation for what the Star Wars Disney+ shows will bring next.

For now, you can catch all these possibly returning characters in The Mandalorian. The Book of Boba Fett comes to Disney+ sometime around the holiday season.
