As it turns out, the movie was originally going to imply that Carol and Valkyrie were exes. According to @CanWeGetSomeToast, when Valkyrie comes over to take the Skrull refugees, there would have been a line where one of them would say, “We work better as friends,” implying that the two have been together more intimately before.

We don’t exactly know why the scene was cut, but a lot of fans already know Marvel/Disney’s way of showcasing representation with two steps forward and one step back. Maybe they couldn’t risk the thought that Carol would be bisexual and endanger the conservatives from suddenly deeming her as an inappropriate role model.

Whatever they did though, The Marvels is currently being bashed for being one of the biggest MCU bombs in history. Then again, a lot of fans stand by that this is not a result of the movie being of poor quality. Some think that it has something to do with the poor marketing for the film, others think that the strike also hurt the chances for better promotion for the movie.

Of course, there is always the endless wave of Youtubers and anti-woke propagandists that have made careers just hating on anything where women are in the spotlight.

Hopefully Marvel and Disney don’t learn the wrong lesson with The Marvels. Some fans still have their fingers crossed that maybe good word of mouth could save the movie during its run—like the way Elemental did for Pixar.

Catch The Marvels now in theaters.

Chris Hemsworth Tries Scientifically Controlling Emotions in Spiderhead https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-hemsworth-tries-scientifically-controlling-emotions-in-spiderhead/ Thu, 19 May 2022 15:23:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65290 Chris Hemsworth may have built a brand around himself by playing the ‘Himbo’ character, but every once in a while he gets to play some more out-of-type characters. He played a Manson-type in Bad Times at the El Royale, and now he’s some kind of tech genius with ulterior motives in Spiderhead.

Check out the new trailer starring Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett:

The story’s synopsis reads:

This is set in the near future, when convicts are offered the chance to volunteer as medical subjects in hopes of shortening their sentences. When one prisoner finds himself the test patient for a new pharmaceutical capable of generating feelings of love, he begins questioning the reality of his emotions and sets out to discover the truth.

The movie feels a lot like Ex Machina with Hemsworth playing the role of the scheming scientist. The entire film is actually based on a short story by George Saunders published in the New Yorker called Escape from Spiderhead.

You have to hand it to Netflix for landing the release window. Not only is Spiderhead directed by Joseph Kosinski who directed Top Gun: Maverick, but the movie also stars Hemsworth who has Thor: Love and Thunder coming out in July; and Miles Teller who not only stars in Maverick, but also has another critically acclaimed series on Paramount+, The Offer, airing right now.

With Netflix getting such bad press recently, the only thing that looks to be able to save the platform is quality content—and hopefully Spiderhead delivers.

Spiderhead comes to Netflix on June 17.
