Though Deadpool was considered to be Miller’s big break, he reveals that he actually didn’t get paid as much as a director should be for a movie that successful. Talking during a panel at CCXP (via Collider), Miller reveals:

“You guys might not know, but it’s not really a profitable thing to be a first-time director in Hollywood, and I’ll tell you exactly… I got $225,000 to direct Deadpool. I know it sounds like a lot of money, but for two years of work, that’s not a ton of money.”

Regardless of the low salary, Miller still says that he was grateful for the experience, but he was paid more working on a series like The Walking Dead. He continues, “Not that I’m not grateful, I’m fucking grateful, that’s the way it is because you’re supposed to when you’re a first-time director. My agent said ‘Dude, you make more on an episode of The Walking Dead!‘”

Miller was originally set to direct the sequel, but apparently he was having creative differences with Ryan Reynolds who really wanted to take over the franchise. After he stepped away though, Miller was able to work on well-acclaimed VFX projects like Love, Death and Robots as well as the lucrative Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

It is a shame that Miller was treated the way he was, but as it stands, a lot of people consider the first Deadpool to be the best film in the franchise. We don’t know what the future holds in store for the character, but some fans online are starting to turn on Deadpool and Wolverine now that the nostalgia is wearing off.

Negan and Maggie Team Up in Teaser for The Walking Dead Spinoff, Dead City https://www.geekfeed.com/teaser-for-the-walking-dead-spinoff-dead-city/ Mon, 08 May 2023 11:57:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76690 The main Walking Dead show may have ended, but that doesn’t mean AMC isn’t going to keep milking Robert Kirkman’s world of the undead.

The spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to release in June, and we have a new trailer featuring returning characters Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). Check this out:

The official synopsis reads:

Reunited and it feels so good… Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) are back together and are headed to (what is left of) New York City. Can they put their differences aside and learn to trust one another?

Admittedly, a lot of fans are confused at the concept of the Negan/Maggie team-up because it wasn’t really hinted at by the end of The Walking Dead, but the characters are still some of the most interesting to come out of the show, so I’m not really surprised that they would be paired up for some kind of buddy-cop dynamic in a post-apocalyptic zombie world.

Either way, I think some fans are just happy to come back to the world. With The Walking Dead having multiple spinoffs, it’s kind of amazing that the world can keep going so many places. Who knows, maybe Dead City manages to be the Better Call Saul of this franchise, but we’ll just have to wait and see until the premiere.

The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres on AMC and AMC+ on June 18.

Norman Reedus Trends for Ghost Rider Casting https://www.geekfeed.com/norman-reedus-trends-for-ghost-rider-casting/ Tue, 28 Dec 2021 04:46:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63130 Agents of SHIELD kind of fizzled out their plans when it came to introducing Ghost Rider, but the Disney+ era of the MCU shows give Marvel another chance at reviving the Spirit of Vengeance. While it’s likely they won’t be calling back Nicolas Cage, one Walking Dead star has shown interest in playing the role of Johnny Blaze.

As per ComicBook, Norman Reedus has been liking multiple posts of him being fancast as the MCU’s next Ghost Rider. While nothing official has been said about casting on Marvel’s end, fans are hopeful that enough hype could at least get Marvel to consider it.

Besides being a badass in The Walking Dead, Reedus has also shown an affinity for motorcycles, that’s why he also had his reality show Ride with Norman Reedus. With Ghost Rider’s character being closely tied to his vehicle of choice, the casting of Reedus would be a very cool case of meta-casting—that is, if Marvel decides to go for it.

With Ghost Rider being on the mystic side of things, we should expect him to be closely tied to the world of Doctor Strange. Though it would be great to have Strange act as another ‘guide’ for a new Johnny Blaze, I think Marvel could skip the origin story and just have the Ghost Rider introduced  fully established. I mean, if they could do it with Spider-Man, they can do it with Johnny Blaze, who already has two films under his belt thanks to Nicolas Cage.

As of now, Marvel hasn’t officially introduced Ghost Rider, but the next movie down the MCU line, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, comes out May 06, 2022.
