Now it looks like Miller may be open to working with Marvel Studios down the line.

Talking to ComicBook, Miller talks about possibly taking on a fifth Thor movie with Chris Hemsworth, to which he replied, “I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills… I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically… But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really.

As of now, nobody is in the director’s chair for the next Thor movie, and it looks like the audience has run out of enthusiasm for Thor: Love and Thunder helmer Taika Waititi. With Sam Raimi being able to take on Doctor Strange, there could be room for Miller to try on Thor, should he and Marvel come to some kind of agreement.

For now, Miller has managed to get a memorable performance out of Chris Hemsworth with the character of Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. With Miller’s penchant for dazzling visuals and costumes, he could very well be a perfect choice to take on another Thor movie—especially with the way they’ve evolved with Waititi’s direction over the past few years.

I’m just hoping Hemsworth has some enthusiasm left after the relentless bashing of the last film (which I thought was better than Ragnarok).

A fifth Thor movie has not been officially announced.

Lisa Kudrow Stars in Trailer for Taika Waititi’s Time Bandits Remake https://www.geekfeed.com/trailer-for-taika-waititis-time-bandits-remake/ Sat, 13 Jul 2024 09:38:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83235 It was back in 1981 when Terry Gilliam released his time-travel adventure comedy Time Bandits, and though that film has been lost in obscurity, Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement—the producers behind What We Do in the Shadows—have teamed up with Apple TV for a reboot.

Check out the first trailer for Time Bandits:

The trailer basically tells us the premise with a young boy finding out that he has a time portal in his room; then he’s suddenly whisked away to adventures through time where he’ll meet all kinds of historical figures.

Besides Lisa Kudrow being one of the main bandits, the series has also revealed that Waititi and Clement also have roles in the series. No doubt there are also going to be some guest actors to fill in some of the historical figures that the team will meet throughout the season.

For context, here’s a trailer for the original Time Bandits which stars John Cleese and Shelley Duvall:

The original film has all the signature makings of a Terry Gilliam movie with the visuals and humor, and this reboot totally feels like something that could be up Waititi’s alley based on the influences he’s had in his movies.

Though What We Do in the Shadows is a bit more adult-oriented, I am eager to see how Waititi and Clement will team-up to deliver a family-friendly time-travel adventure packed with all kinds of wacky visuals and updated humor.

Time Bandits premieres on Apple TV+ on June 24.

“I Didn’t Stick the Landing”: Chris Hemsworth Says He ‘Owes’ Fans Another Thor Film https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-hemsworth-owes-fans-another-thor-film/ Sun, 05 May 2024 17:47:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82231 Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. may have bowed out of the MCU, but Chris Hemsworth is still flying around as the God of Thunder Thor. We don’t know where he could show up next, but Hemsworth does assure fans that he needs to return as Thor after Love and Thunder.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Hemsworth says that it feels like he owes the fans another Thor movie, but not in the same vein as Love and Thunder. “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth shared, “I didn’t stick the landing.”

Admittedly, Thor’s character and the way the studio has treated him has changed ever since he debuted back in 2011. Though he was a tad serious with some of his other-worldliness played for laughs, Thor: Ragnarok really leaned into the improv and the last two Thor films ended up like pseudo Guardians of the Galaxy comedy movies.

Even Hemsworth had shared that he was starting to feel ‘replaceable’ as Thor when it came to the Avengers lineup. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun. What’s my character doing? It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Where’s the lighting?’ Yeah, I’m part of this big thing, but I’m probably pretty replaceable,” says Hemsworth.

Despite that, his co-star Robery Downey Jr. does say that it takes a special kind of actor to play Thor. RDJ shares, “First off, Thor as a character was super tricky to adapt—lots of implied limitations—but he and Ken Branagh figured out how to transcend, make him somehow relatable but godlike… Hemsworth is, in my opinion, the most complex psyche out of all us Avengers. He’s got wit and gravitas, but also such restraint, fire, and gentleness.”

It’s unclear where Marvel wants to take the character moving forward, but it does look like they’re done with the comedy direction thatTaika Waititi went.

Personally, I thought that Love and Thunder did have a more relevant arc than Ragnarok, and I would love to see Thor’s next film actually grapple with his decision to become a father to his adopted daughter. Maybe ‘Love’ can become The Mighty Thor that Jane Foster only spent a few moments on.

A fifth Thor movie has not been officially announced. But in the meantime, you can catch Hemsworth in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in theaters May 24.

Rogue One Director Being Eyed for Thor 5? https://www.geekfeed.com/rogue-one-director-being-eyed-for-thor-5/ Wed, 29 Nov 2023 16:09:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79865 Taika Waititi had been applauded for rebooting the Thor franchise with Ragnarok, but fans weren’t singing the same tune when Love and Thunder came out. We don’t have an official announcement for Thor 5 yet, but with Waititi allegedly out, a new director is said to be considered from the Star Wars camp.

According to insider Daniel RPK (via ComicBookMovie), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Creator director Gareth Edwards is being eyed for a fifth Thor film. We don’t have any details on what the story could be, but Chris Hemsworth himself has pitched that maybe the next appearance of Thor could be the last. He says, “I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean?… You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know…am I at that stage? Who knows?”

While fans thought that Love and Thunder would have Jane Foster taking on the Thor role moving forward, her character dying kind of caught everyone by surprise, and instead we have a Thor embracing the life of a single father with Gorr’s daughter becoming his ward.

We don’t know where Marvel plans to go with the character moving forward, but there have been comics about Thor outliving everyone and becoming an older god going up against cosmically gigantic odds.

Perhaps the MCU could just tell an alternate future timeline with an older Thor which would mark another hard reboot of the property, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Let’s also not forget his brother Loki is now the one holding all the timelines together. Maybe a reunion is possible with both variants uniting in some way?

A fifth Thor film hasn’t been officially announced.

Our Flag Means Death 2: HBO Drops New Trailer for Their Gay Pirate Show https://www.geekfeed.com/our-flag-means-death-2-hbo-drops-new-trailer/ Thu, 31 Aug 2023 17:22:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78502 HBO’s Our Flag Means Death looked like a pirate-themed sitcom, but a lot of fans were surprised when the series actually went all in when it came to the gay romances—particularly between main characters Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi).

After weeks of clamoring from fans, a second season had been greenlit, and now we have our first teaser for Our Flag Means Death 2:

Here’s the official description:

OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH is based (very) loosely on the true adventures of 18th century would-be pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby). After trading the seemingly charmed life of a gentleman for one of a swashbuckling buccaneer, Stede became captain of the pirate ship Revenge.

Struggling to earn the respect of his potentially mutinous crew, Stede’s fortunes changed after a fateful run-in with the infamous Captain Blackbeard (Taika Waititi). To their surprise, the wildly different Stede and Blackbeard found more than friendship on the high seas…they found love. Now, they have to survive it.

The first season had ended with Stede and Ed (Blackbeard) parting ways, and Ed really leaning into his terrifying pirate persona, but it looks like the second season is going to have Stede try to win him back.

Like the description suggests, the show is very loosely based on real historical pirates, and there’s a chance we could be seeing more of them show up in the series. Admittedly the real ends of both Ed and Stede are pretty tragic, but maybe the show will give us something cheerier.

Watch out for the second season of Our Flag Means Death when it premieres on Max on Oct. 5.

Taika Waititi on What He Would Want to See in a Future Thor Film https://www.geekfeed.com/waititi-on-what-he-wants-in-a-future-thor-film/ Wed, 23 Aug 2023 07:00:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78355 Taika Waititi may have been universally praised for Thor: Ragnarok, but somehow a lot of Marvel fans weren’t too pleased with his last Thor adventure, Thor: Love and Thunder. We don’t know if Marvel is going to decide to push forward with another Thor soon, but Waititi already has some ideas of where the film should go.

In Titan’s official movie special book for Thor: Love and Thunder (via ScreenRant), Waititi speculates on a fifth Thor film, to which he says:

“What is left to do to him? It’s got to be something that feels like it’s carrying on with the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way and still giving him things to come up against that feel like they’re building on the obstacles that he has to overcome… I don’t think we can have a villain that’s weaker than Hela. I feel like we need to step up from there and add a villain that’s somehow more formidable.”

Love and Thunder had Thor taking on a fatherhood role and adopting Gorr’s resurrected daughter, but it’s unclear where the character would be moving forward based on what’s established in the MCU. If you ask me, they should just follow his arc in the comics and have him resume leadership of Asgard in place of Odin, now that he’s gained much more experience and knows plenty more about caring for someone.

Whether Waititi is involved or not, he does think that Thor has potential to just keep going to crazier places. He says he would prefer to add “more and more outlandish and crazy beasts, monsters and aliens”. With the earlier Thor movies having him focus mostly on the conflicts of Earth and Asgard, it’s clear Waititi wants to have him explore more alien worlds—kind of like the Guardians of the Galaxy.

A fifth Thor movie hasn’t been officially announced.

Taika Waititi Returns to Form in First Trailer for Next Goal Wins https://www.geekfeed.com/first-trailer-for-next-goal-wins-released/ Wed, 03 May 2023 10:22:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76591 Thor: Love and Thunder may not have been everyone’s favorite Taika Waititi project, but the Kiwi director is set to come back to a genre that turned him into a critical darling.

Check out the trailer for Next Goal Wins starring Michael Fassbender:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Directed by Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok), NEXT GOAL WINS follows the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup Qualifiers approaching, the team hires down-on-his-luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around in this heartfelt underdog comedy.

The movie is based on real events, and there was even a documentary that came out back in 2014 with the very same name, covering Rongen’s taking over of the American Samoa soccer team and training them to be competent players. Here’s the trailer:

With Waititi’s movie though, we should expect more things to be changed up for the dramatization like new characters and shenanigans, but I bet that the story will keep to the underdog nature of the team, with some splashes of Waititi’s signature humor here and there.

I’ll admit, Waititi’s knack for humor kind of takes a backseat with his Marvel movies like Thor: Ragnarok and Love and Thunder, but his more grounded films like Jojo Rabbit and Hunt for the Wilderpeople have always been sharp and charming. Let’s hope Next Goal Wins falls in that category.

Catch Next Goal Wins when it comes to cinemas on Oct. 20.

Michael Fassbender Coaches the World’s Worst Soccer Team in Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins https://www.geekfeed.com/michael-fassbender-coaches-in-next-goal-wins/ Fri, 25 Nov 2022 14:00:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72156 After Thor: Love and Thunder, director Taika Waititi is set to come back to Earth with his soccer film Next Goal Wins. The movie stars Michael Fassbender, and we have our first images from the film via Entertainment Weekly.

Waititi describes the story:

“The story is about the worst soccer team in the world, who famously experienced the biggest loss in an international match against Australia, 31-0, which is about a goal every four minutes… After suffering that huge defeat, they applied to the soccer federation to find a coach who could get them from the very, very bottom of the FIFA rankings.”

Though Waititi is known for his more fantastical films like Jojo Rabbit and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Next Goal Wins will be his first sports movie that’s actually based on real life. The film actually draws inspiration from a 2014 documentary that has the same name.

Besides Fassbender, the movie also stars Elisabeth Moss who will play Fassbender’s ex-wife. Will Arnett has also joined the cast as a fictional soccer executive. The film also stars Somaon-New Zealand actor Oscar Kightley, and Jaiyah Saelua. Saelua’s character, Kamaina, is actually pretty interesting because she’s a trans player, and is one of the star players of the team. As per Waititi, a lot of the movie centers on the relationship between Kamaina and Rongen (Fassbender’s character).

With the film set to come out April of next year, it could be any time now before we get our first teaser. You’d think they would tease it after the release of Love and Thunder earlier this year, but maybe they wanted to distance Waititi from his superhero career to promote this film. Just a guess.

Next Goal Wins comes to theaters on April 21, 2023.

Chris Hemsworth Thinks His Next Thor Appearance could be His Last https://www.geekfeed.com/hemsworth-thinks-next-thor-appearance-may-be-last/ Fri, 18 Nov 2022 09:44:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72091 Though Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. may have bowed out of the MCU, Chris Hemsworth remains as one of the series’ ‘Big Three’. With Love and Thunder teasing a future for the Son of Odin as a father, it seems that his next appearance could be his last.

Talking to Vanity Fair, Hemsworth was asked if he was ever going to come back to the role soon, to which he replied:

“Yeah, for sure. I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know—am I at that stage? Who knows?”

For now, it doesn’t seem that Marvel has any plans for Thor soon, seeing as they’re probably busy setting up other characters like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. If anything, we should expect Thor to make some kind of appearance in the next Avengers film, but maybe he can show up in any upcoming movie like The Marvels or Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

My guess is, they want to completely reboot the female Thor character to have ‘Love’ take on the role rather than Jane Foster. While Foster would have been a fine version, I think it would be hard to build a franchise around a character that was slowly dying of cancer. By making Love a non-Earth local, she has the potential to have Thor’s outsider-type persona; plus, they could cast someone younger and build their career from there.

It’s just a guess.

No announcement has been made for the next Thor movie.

Thor 5 Not Bringing Back Taika Waititi? https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-5-not-bringing-back-taika-waititi/ Wed, 07 Sep 2022 16:25:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70901 Ever since the success of Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi has found himself thrust in the spotlight, getting gigs for Star Wars and more Marvel. With the divisive reception of Thor: Love and Thunder though, could that film be his last in the MCU?

As per Giant Freakin Robot, Waititi is allegedly not coming back for the next Thor movie, and while no specific reason was given, it’s speculated that it was because of audience reception for Love and Thunder that Waititi hasn’t been asked to come back.

As a fan of Waititi’s work with Boy and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, I never really thought that Ragnarok was his best work, and the point was just driven home by Love and Thunder. Sure, the character moments between Jane and Thor are better, but the jokes have been pretty bland—especially for Waititi who has made some other, better films.

With internet troll culture being a thing though, I suspect that the negative reviews didn’t really change anything, and Waititi simply chose to not return. I mean, he still has a Star Wars movie to work on, and he’s expected to have a full time role in HBO’s hit series Our Flag Means Death.

If you ask me, they should return to form and attempt another serious fantasy take on Thor. You think Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik would be up to the task? Dark World’s Alan Taylor was also a Thrones veteran.

Thor: Love and Thunder comes to Disney+ on Sept. 8.

David Jenkins Teases Our Flag Means Death Season 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/david-jenkins-teases-our-flag-means-death-s02/ Mon, 29 Aug 2022 17:43:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70766 While it was no House of the Dragon, Our Flag Means Death was one of the more celebrated shows that premiered on HBO this year. A second season has already been greenlit, and showrunner David Jenkins teases the return of television’s favorite, openly gay pirates.

This is Jenkins’ post:

We don’t really know what the image is supposed to entail, but I’m guessing it could be the flag for a new incoming character. We know that Blackbeard had raised an enhanced version of his flag after his break-up with Stede, so it’s very likely the series could be introducing us to more flags that could represent other pirate ships and their crews.

Who knows, maybe the series will actually delve into some mystical territory this time around and introduce us to mermaids and other sea creatures. I mean, pirates may be all about buried treasure and looting, but giant sea creatures and sirens are just as fun when it comes to fiction.

Admittedly OFMD starts out kind of slow, but the series really picks up once Taika Waititi’s Blackbeard appears. You have to hand it to Waititi and Rhys Darby for having some great chemistry; and the show has also been commended for going all out with its gay relationships rather than just teasing them (something that fans have been calling queer-baiting) in other shows.

Our Flag Means Death Season 2 has no specific release date, but the series is expected to return to HBO Max sometime in 2023.

New BTS Featurette for Thor: Love and Thunder Spotlights on Taika Waititi https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-love-and-thunder-spotlights-taika-waititi/ Wed, 06 Jul 2022 08:53:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=69927 Marvel had took a chance with Taika Waititi with Thor: Ragnarok, but now they’re allowing him even more creative freedom for the upcoming sequel Thor: Love and Thunder. The film is set to come out later this week, and we have a new featurette taking a good look at the man behind the helm of Thor’s next adventure.

Watch the new Love and Thunder clip down here:

Hemsworth said about Waititi, “Taika is like a big kid, sort of genius child. There’s this imagination that’s second to none.” Natalie Portman, who is returning to play the Jane Foster’s version of the God of Thunder, says, “Taika is really good at refelecting the way life can be dark and comedic all at once.”

While Thor: Ragnarok was already pretty goofy by MCU standards, Waititi does say that he’s doubling down on the tone of Love and Thunder, and we can expect things to be more colourful and vibrant. Being a fan of Waititi’s more ‘serious’ work though, I am hoping that Love and Thunder manages to take the character arcs a lot more seriously, especially with Jane. Though the previews have only shown her getting her powers, comic readers will know that there’s actually a pretty tragic reason why she has to become the new wielder of Mjolnir.

Thor embarks on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. However, his retirement gets interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who — to his surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer. Together, they set out on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance.

Thor: Love and Thunder flies into theaters on July 8.

Thor 4: Original Gorr Design Looked Too Much Like Voldemort https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-4-gorr-design-looked-too-much-like-voldemort/ Mon, 04 Jul 2022 04:09:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=69018 Christian Bale may look pretty freaky in Thor: Love and Thunder, but anyone whose read the comics knows that the character looks pretty different. When it comes to the change, Waititi explains that it had to do something with Gorr resembling a certain Dark Wizard.

Talking to IGN, Waititi reveals that they had to change Gorr’s look because he looked too much like Voldemort from the Harry Potter movies. He says: “His face in the comics, unfortunately does kind of resemble Voldemort. So I was like, people are just automatically going to make that connection. So we decided to depart from that design and sort of like, keep elements of the tone, and the fact that he had the sword—really it was about his story. That was the most important things for us.”

In the comics, Gorr had no nose and tentacles on the back of his head—kind of like a twi’lek from Star Wars. One thing was that he almost, always looked nude. With Christian Bale’s penchant for transforming his body, it was kind of a shame that they decided to cover up his entire body, but at least we really get to see Bale’s face and his expressions when it comes to the character onscreen.

While Marvel has been able to give us some memorable villains toward the end of the Infinity Saga, I think that the latest entries with Black Widow’s Dreykov and Eternals’ Ikaris  have been kind of forgettable, With Bale and Waititi onboard though, I’m hoping we have a memorable villain to really push Thor to his limits.

Catch Thor: Love and Thunder when it comes out July 8.

Thor 4: Natalie Portman would Love a Captain Marvel Team-Up https://www.geekfeed.com/natalie-portman-wants-a-captain-marvel-team-up/ Sun, 26 Jun 2022 18:02:01 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66652 With the MCU introducing us to a new roster of heroes, everyone is guessing what kind of team-ups we could have down the line. Thor and Hulk teamed up for Ragnarok, and new Thor Natalie Portman has an idea who she wants to share the screen with.

Talking to Variety, Portman was asked which team-up she would look forward to in her MCU future, and she says, “I love Captain Marvel. Brie [Larson] is a dear friend so that would be a fun one.”

Admittedly it’s unclear what kind of future Jane Foster has in the MCU. Though it’s said that she’s taking on the Thor mantle, it still feels like Chris Hemsworth is going to be hanging around for a while. If you asked me, I would like it if Jane became the lead of the franchise, with the OG Thor having a recurring role as her support—kind of like Odin in the early Thor films.

Despite all the previews, Marvel has been pretty secretive when it comes to Jane’s arc. So far, it’s just been revealed that she recently gained her powers and is coping with the responsibility, but if the comics are to be followed, we know that there’s a very serious reason why she becomes the Mighty Thor. I won’t spoil anything here, but I’m sure hoping Marvel chooses to stay true to that part of the character’s origin.

Christian Bale had No Idea What the ‘MCU’ was https://www.geekfeed.com/christian-bale-had-no-idea-what-the-mcu-was/ Sun, 26 Jun 2022 17:01:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66637 While everyone is excited to see Chris Hemsworth back as Thor in Love and Thunder, a lot of people are curious what kind of performance ex-Batman Christian Bale has to bring to the table. Though some think he would have qualms entering an opposite comic universe after DC, he says he never really shut the idea down.

Talking to Total Film (via Games Radar), Bale was asked whether he was hesitant to join comic movies after the Dark Knight trilogy, to which he replied, “Absolutely not, no. That didn’t even enter into my head at all.” The funny thing is, Bale also had no idea what it meant when people were saying he joined the MCU. “I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU!’ And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered shit, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.”

WIth Bale being known to be such an intense method actor, a lot of people were wondering how he was going to get in touch with the role of someone who wanted to murder gods. While he really wanted to iron something out with director Taika Waititi, it looks like they never got to be as extensive as they wanted to be. Bale says:

“There’s obviously sort of a Nosferatu slight attitude. Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, which we didn’t get to do, but we had all this sort of Kate Bush stuff that we worked at. But I think he just realised he was never going to be allowed to put that in the final film. I would say that the most common thing I was staring at was the Aphex Twin video of ‘Come To Daddy’. But I don’t even know if that will be in the final film.”

Fingers crossed the trailers didn’t spoil too much. While I thought Gorr’s look was originally underwhelming, the trailers make me feel that Christian Bale is going to steal the scene whenever he shows up.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.

Latest Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer Gives First Look at Christian Bale’s God Butcher https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-thor-love-and-thunder-trailer-gives-first-look-at-christian-bales-god-butcher/ Wed, 25 May 2022 14:06:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65342 A month ago we got our first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder, and though we expected to get our next preview sometime around June, Marvel Studios has just dropped a new trailer for the movie, and it gives us a good look at all the returning characters as well as Christian Bale’s new villain—Gorr the God Butcher.

Watch the new Love and Thunder trailer down here:

Here’s the official synopsis:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a search for self-discovery. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

I’ll admit, I was initially skeptical about Gorr’s appearance after the toy leaks, but we can see that Bale is going all-in with the character’s look in the movie. While he does look a tad like Voldemort from the Potter films, I hope that Marvel allowed Bale some leeway when it came to bringing the God Butcher to life.

On the other side of things, we did get more of Natalie Portman in the trailer, but her arc is still pretty much a mystery. With her expected to take the Thor mantle moving forward, I wonder what kind of story they have in mind; because Jane Foster is admittedly one of the blandest characters in the MCU. I mean, who even missed her in Thor: Ragnarok?

Pixar Drops a Special Look at Lightyear https://www.geekfeed.com/pixar-drops-a-special-look-at-lightyear/ Sun, 08 May 2022 13:19:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65132 We don’t need another Toy Story after the fourth movie, but that doesn’t mean Pixar can’t spin off the property with other characters. Lightyear is set to come out this June, and we have a new special look at the movie which gives us a new look at Buzz and his team of space rookies.

Watch the new trailer for Lightyear down here:

Just in case you’re confused about where the film sits in the Toy Story canon, Lightyear is supposedly the movie about the space ranger on which the toy is based on. They basically take Buzz’s character from the original films and actually have him play out his ‘delusion’ from the first movie.

As you can see, a lot of the character is still there, from Buzz narrating mission logs, to him immediately going to a combat pose when he gets surprised by the robot cat. I’m curious what else Easter Eggs could be in place for this movie, seeing that Buzz really was just one part of a larger whole.

I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical that they didn’t bring back Tim Allen for the movie, but Chris Evans seems to take the role pretty well. If I were to make a guess, I think they want Buzz to essentially be a ‘himbo’—the internet’s word for a strong, attractive guy who may not be the smartest, but whose heart is always in the right place.

I just can’t wait to watch this film in a cinema. Hopefully we won’t get any more pandemic-related delays.

Lightyear hits theaters on June 17.

Thor: Love and Thunder Teaser Sizzles https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-love-and-thunder-teaser-sizzles/ Tue, 19 Apr 2022 11:32:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64923 With the film coming out in July, a lot of fans were wondering why Marvel Studios hasn’t given us a look at Thor: Love and Thunder yet, but now they can take a breath as we now have the first teaser for the God of Thunder’s return.

Check out the Love and Thunder trailer down here:

The trailer doesn’t really give us that much on the villain Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) or Jane Foster, but it does focus on the story of Thor and his identity crisis that has become the culmination of his appearances in the MCU. Here we see Thor just trying to figure out what exactly he wants to become, and with Jane Foster now wielding Mjolnir, it’s possible that the Son of Odin is ready to pass the superhero mantle to someone else.

With Steve Rogers and Tony Stark out of the picture, a lot of people are wondering just how long Thor has left in the MCU. While it’s easy to have the character just die, it would be great if he could just hang around the universe moving forward—function the way Odin did in the earlier Thor films. Maybe have an Old Man Thor movie in the next decade a la Logan? It’s just a pitch.

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace.

Thor: Love and Thunder comes to theaters on July 8.

Love and Thunder Banner Showcases Thor and Jane’s Costumes https://www.geekfeed.com/love-and-thunder-banner-showcases-thor-and-janes-costumes/ Tue, 12 Apr 2022 02:59:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64793 Marvel Studios may be hyping up the release of Doctor Strange 2 in May, but promo material for Thor: Love and Thunder has been slowly leaking out. Just in, a new banner for the film has been making the rounds online, and it gives us a look at both Thor and Jane Foster’s thunder goddess.

Check the Love and Thunder costumes out here:

While Thor: Ragnarok was already more colourful than the usual MCU film, it looks like Love and Thunder will be going all out—especially with Thor’s bright blue ensemble. As for Jane, she’s actually sporting the helmet from the comics, but the colors are a bit more muted with her outfit.

We don’t know exactly what the story for Love and Thunder will be, but we know that the main villain will be Gorr (Christian Bale) the God Butcher. Fans also suspect that the film will adapt Jane’s cancer storyline from the comics, but it’s possible that they could change things depending on the tone of the movie. I don’t imagine Marvel wants to make light of a real-life sickness like cancer.

With a release set for July, it’s curious why Marvel hasn’t dropped even a teaser yet. I suspect we could get something later this month, but it’s possible they just want all eyes on the release of Doctor Strange 2 for now. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see; until then we have these promo images and merch shots to keep us hyped.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8.

Thor: Love and Thunder LEGO Set Features a New Monster and Gorr the God Butcher https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-love-and-thunder-lego-set-features-a-new-monster-and-gorr-the-god-butcher/ Mon, 28 Feb 2022 16:14:49 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64270 With Marvel busy hyping up the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we’ve barely gotten a look at Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Promo materials have been coming out online though, and the latest one features a huge monster as well as Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale.

The set is called Attack on New Asgard, so it’s safe to assume that this scene takes place on Planet Earth. With Thor blasting off during at the end of Endgame with the Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s possible he could be summoned back to Earth as Gorr comes to New Asgard looking for him.

It’s not entirely clear what kind of story arc Love and Thunder will have, but we can assume that Taika Waititi will be embracing the more humorous tone that Ragnarok was full of. Personally, I would love it if Waititi would take some scenes more seriously, as his indie films have done before. Sure, Thor has become silly, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be injected with some more serious, heartfelt moments. There’s just so much potential there, with Jane coping with cancer; maybe even with Gorr, who must have his own good reason for wanting to kill off gods.

It will be a while before we get a look at Love and Thunder, but hopefully we can get some kind of teaser after Multiverse of Madness releases in May.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to come out on July 8.
