According to Deadline, Sydney Sweeney (Madame Web, The White Lotus) is now in final negotiations to star in the live-action Gundam movie being produced by Legendary Pictures. No details have been revealed on who Sweeney is playing or what the story could be, but we do know that Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle is going to be directing the movie, with Legendary also teaming up with Bandai Namco Filmworks to develop the film.
Mobile Suit Gundam was a franchise that started in 1979, and while giant robots fighting each other has been a thing since the 50s, Gundam has managed to stay relevant with its serious themes on war and humanity—all that brought into a world filled with giant military robots.
Though there is a ‘Universal Century’ canon that takes place in the original Gundam timeline, Gundam has also pulled a storytelling model akin to Final Fantasy where every few years a new timeline is introduced with new politics and lore, and the only constant is that there are giant robots being used to fight a very serious war between humans. The newest iteration is Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, but previous hit titles include Gundam Wing, Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans, and Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
With this live-action movie, some think that it could be a completely new established timeline, but it can also easily tell a contained story that takes place in the OG Gundam canon since it’s a war that spans an entire solar system. Though there are new timelines established, there are still new stories being told in the UC like Netflix’s Requiem for Vengeance.
I’d honestly love to see Sweeney be a young pilot in a mobile suit. You think she’s going to be a Newtype?
No release date has been announced for the live-action Gundam movie.
]]>According to The Independent, a representative from HBO has confirmed that the series isn’t dead and “Euphoria is going into production in 2025. Nothing has changed.” A third season had been greenlit way back in 2022, but because of the writers’ strike and several issues with show creator Sam Levinson, the third season hasn’t managed to get off the ground.
If anything, it wouldn’t be a total surprise if the third season got cancelled. Besides all the complaints about Levinson’s work ethic and behaviour on set, several main actors in the series have only gotten more famous since the last season. Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and Jacob Elordi have come out to be rising stars, and everyone is worried that they won’t manage to be free by the time Euphoria Season 3 starts production.
Can they even still play convincing high schoolers?
A rumor has suggested a time skip for whole timeline, and it’s interesting to see what could change. I’ll admit, being in high school is only half the drama of the show, but it feels like something is going to be lost when everyone makes the shift from teen to young adult.
If anything, as long as the vibes are right, I’m sure Euphoria 3 is still going to be a jam. In the meantime, the series still has no set release date on HBO yet.
]]>Here’s a look at Sweeney’s buffed up physique in the upcoming biopic covering former boxer Christy Martin. Check this out:
View this post on Instagram
Here’s the caption:
“well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film im working on right now. over the past few months, i’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. more to come soon :)”
For context, Christy Martin was a professional boxer that was active from 1989 all the way to 2012. She had opened the door for women in the sport earning the WBC female super welterweight title in 2009. She’s also the first female boxer to be elected to the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame and she was recently elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame back in 2020.
But no doubt the craziest part of her story was back in 2010 when her then-husband James Martin stabbed her several times and shot her in the torso leaving her for dead. She apparently survived the attack and went on to keep boxing for two more years.
We don’t know how the movie is going to deal with Martin’s story, but I do have my fingers crossed that it will be more of an artsy biopic on the same vein as last year’s The Iron Claw. There’s actually a Netflix documentary about her story called Untold Vol. 1: Deal with the Devil. Either way, Sweeney does have very unique taste when it comes to the projects that she lands, and I’m sure all of her fans would line up to see this film (which is still untitled).
No release date has been set for the Christy Martin biopic.
]]>She had hosted Saturday Night Live earlier in the year, and a lot of people loved her on the show; but what’s funny is that Sweeney apparently insisted that the writers do a lot of jokes about her breasts. This was revealed by SNL cast member Bowen Yang when he appeared on Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade (via @OneTakeNews). According to Yang:
“She’s an example of a host who came in and understood how she was being consumed and perceived already. She came in and was like, ‘Please, everyone, make jokes about my boobs!’”
Just looking at her SNL monologue, they did just do one joke about her breasts:
The Hooters skit is the one with the most views, but the joke is more of Sweeney being attractive rather than just focusing on her breasts. Admittedly, every costume she wore during her guest stint was always generous in the amount of cleavage it showed.
Admittedly Sweeney has proven that she’s had a pretty busy year with releases of Anyone But You, Madame Web, and Immaculate. She’s also been cast in Ron Howard’s upcoming movie Eden which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Sweeney is definitely keeping herself busy, and it’s great to see her star rising. I just hope she doesn’t get too busy for one last season of Euphoria.
]]>What’s interesting is that a source that is close to Levinson says that the delay isn’t just pissing off fans—it’s also pissing off the series main star, Zendaya.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the source has claimed that Zendaya had started getting beef with Levinson when he started focusing on his work on The Idol when he was supposed to be working Euphoria. The site writes:
Zendaya was so perturbed that she asked for a meeting with HBO’s Bloys and Orsi, demanding to know why the network allowed Levinson to turn his attention to another show — an HBO show, no less — with Euphoria hanging in the balance.
There’s also the case of the death of Levinson’s producing partner Kevin Turen. With Turen said to have been a good manager for the more volatile Levinson, Levinson’s wife Ashley was said to be attached as a producer for Euphoria 3, which a lot of people don’t seem to be happy with.
A talent rep had said, “Sam needs somebody else beside Ashley… He needs a voice of reason, and Kevin was a genius at that.” Another insider also said, “Sam really is a big talent, but he needs managing, and if you’re a spouse, it’s tough. He needs boundaries, he needs deadlines. It’s hard for a spouse to set limits. You’re setting yourself up for failure.”
Funnily enough, there was also a source that said that Zendaya was the cause of the delay since she had started focusing more on her movie career, with her appearing in box office hits like Dune: Part Two and Challengers. The source said, “It was all about her… Everybody wanted to make it about Sam, but it was her.”
Despite the falling out between the show creators and stars, the article does say that HBO is close to coming up with a story that they could eventually work with for Season 3. Hopefully fans don’t have to wait too long because it’s getting harder to convince people that Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer are in high school.
A release date for Euphoria 3 has not been announced.
]]>Now the movie has come out on Netflix, and it’s turned out to be the Top 1 film on Netflix (as per @HollywoodHandle):
‘MADAME WEB’ is currently the Top 1 film on Netflix US.
Read our review: https://t.co/0s4GgNpbAa pic.twitter.com/ybSGAIxBko
— The Hollywood Handle (@HollywoodHandle) May 15, 2024
Even before the film released in theaters, Madame Web was already gathering all kinds of memes online starting with the line, “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died.”
Not to mention the movie also had an all-star cast of some of the most popular young actresses at the time including Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor. Not to mention Dakota Johnson herself was a lightning rod of sex appeal and everything she was saying throughout the entire press tour for the film became meme-able.
Though the film did have its bashers, there were some online who have attested that the campiness for the movie is a delight to watch for any cynical comic book movie fan who knows how to watch films sarcastically.

It’s unclear where Madame Web is going to end up in the socail consciousness, but I have to tell you I honestly haven’t had a better time in the cinema . It’s like The Room for superhero films.
Madame Web is now streaming on Netflix.
]]>As per Deadline, the show was supposed to start shooting again later this year, but production has now been put on hold, and all the actors who worked on the project have been encouraged to pursue other work.
According to The Wrap, the reason for the delay is said to be the change in setting. With the first two seasons covering everyone’s drama in high school, the next season is said to be bringing everyone out of their teen years well into early adulthood. We don’t know exactly what that means for the show, but it’s understood that some cast members may not be expected to return, and we would only be focusing on some select fan favorites.
Admittedly, showrunner Sam Levinson has not been portrayed in the best light in the recent years after the premiere of the second season. There have been reports of trouble brewing on the set of the series, and it was also said that he had some very problematic behaviour with his other show The Idol. The only reason he’s managed to stay so long, allegedly, is because of the popularity of Euphoria and HBO’s desire for Levinson to make another season.
Admittedly, several stars from the show like Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Zendaya have managed to explode and work on bigger projects since Euphoria, and it’s possible that it could be harder for HBO to keep them on moving forward.
I mean, it’s a very artsy and entertaining drama, but the way things are looking, some fans are convinced this could be the end of the series.
The first seasons of Euphoria are now streaming on Max.
]]>With the movie out now—and gathering some very angry reviews from Christians—the Immaculate PR team has decided to embrace the hate and it has somehow became the perfect way to market the film. Check this out:
Christian Twitter has spoken. pic.twitter.com/1LKeJuBdRa
— Immaculate (@ImmaculateMovie) March 23, 2024
Even the studio Neon is getting in on the trand reposting this quote:
https://t.co/yeLO06oTnP pic.twitter.com/Sz3G6WIiCS
— NEON (@neonrated) March 23, 2024
“Libs saw how the anti-woke crowd embraced Sydney Sweeney as their new darling and right away had to shove he in this blasphemous, Satanic, feminist, pro-abortion, anti-life movie degrading Christians! The movie also debases Mary, Mother of Christ!”
You have to hand it to Sweeney. After being one of the standout cast members of Euphoria, she’s managed to appear in some Twitter-famous films such as Anyone But You, Madame Web, and now Immaculate.
It’s even more amazing when you consider that she’s also started being attached to the films as a producer, and she personally got Immaculate through the finish line.
We don’t know how the movie is going to end its theaterical run, but this strategy of using angry Christian reviews is definitley getting the attention of cinephiles online who like it when movies stick it to the status quo.
Immaculate starring Sydney Sweeney is now playing n theaters.
]]>Though a lot of people have been asking stars like Dakota Johnson what they felt about the movie failing in the box office, Sydney Sweeney says that it was a necessary building block for her career. Talking to GQ, she explains how Web got Sweeney connected to some major decision makers over at Sony. She explains:
“To me that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony. Without doing Madame Web I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there… Everything in my career I do not just for that story, but strategic business decisions. Because I did that, I was able to sell Anyone But You. I was able to get Barbarella.”
Admittedly, Sweeney’s onscreen work isn’t the only thing that’s been turning heads for her fans. She’s also slowly attaching herself as a producer for more of her projects, including the massively successful rom-com Anyone But You as well as her upcoming horror movie Immaculate.
For now, Sweeney has definitely been getting better bookings based on her filmography, and even though a lot of people consider Madame Web to be a huge stumble, it’s possible that it could gain some kind of cult following now that more people have access to it. Kind of like Diablo Cody’s Jennifer’s Body.
Madame Web is now available on digital.
]]>Talking to The Wrap, HBO CEO Casey Bloys shares an update on where Euphoria 3, and where it is in terms of development. Bloys explains:
“We’ll see how it goes. He’s writing Season 3 right now, [Sam Levinson’s] in the thick of it. So I don’t know that he is laying out what the future looks like. It’s just getting Season 3 done… I haven’t had a specific conversation with him about is this the end or what does it look like.”
We don’t know where the third season is going to go exactly, as each character seems to just be having their own drama regardless of what the other characters are up to. We know that Rue (Zendaya) is struggling with sobriety, and we see her kind of make amends with Jules (Hunter Schafer).
On the other hand, Nate (Jacob Elordi) has his father taken in by the police, and we see more drama brewing with Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddy (Alexa Demie). Probably the biggest loss was that of Ashtray (Javon Walton) who dies in a shootout with the cops as they try to arrest Fezco (Angus Cloud); though fans would have loved to see where Fez would be in the next season, the loss of Cloud last year will definitely have to be addressed.
For now, it does seem that Levinson is currently at a low when it comes to his online reputation, but if Euphoria 3 manages to impress, I can imagine him staying on for even longer.
No release date has been set for the third season of Euphoria.
]]>The trailer had already spawned a meme with the line, “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died,” but this new promo of star Dakota Johnson seems to really have fans a little hot and bothered. Watch this:

Already replies and reactions to the video are having fans talking about how they could watch the movie just from the sex appeal alone. Sydney Sweeney may be a lightning rod for this kind of energy, but some people can forget that Johnson herself was the lead in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise—arguably one of the most unapologetically kinky movies ever put to screen.

Of course, just because a movie is generating this much buzz online doesn’t mean that it’s going to directly translate to ticket sales. Everyone jumped in on the ‘Morbin’ Time’ hype for Morbius; and the hype got so huge that Sony eventually re-released it—to still empty cinemas.
Who knows, maybe Madame Web will manage to break the mould. Though the movie does feel pretty campy, there is still an audience out there that will probably love it. Jennifer’s Body and The Room are cult classics, and even 2019’s Cats is a hilarious watch.
Madame Web is set to release in cinemas this Valentine’s Day Feb. 14.
]]>Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria) star in Anyone But You, and we have our first trailer:
Here’s the official description:
In the edgy comedy Anyone But You, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.
Admittedly, the biggest story of this movie was that the two stars were suspected of having an affair seeing as Powell and Sweeney had such great chemistry with each other, but the stars themselves have put the rumor down.
But it is telling that Powell’s ex Gigi Paris had unfollowed Sweeney on social media around the time the photos of Powell and Sweeney started coming out online.
Either way, both stars are ridiculously known for their looks and this feels like a classic jab at Hollywood trying to draw an audience in with solely star power. I hope Powell and Sweeney just have what it takes to be a box office draw.
Anyone But You comes exclusively to theaters on Dec. 15.
]]>Watch this:
We don’t know what the full story of the film is going to be, but it does look like Madame Web (Johnson) is going to be going up against another Spider-person in the form of Ezekiel Sims. In the comic, Sims has all the powers of Spider-Man, but he got them through more mystical means.
It’s unclear what Sims could be wanting with the girls that Madame Web would be protecting, but it does seem like they all have their own unique spider powers; maybe Johnson will be their version of Professor X. Julia Carpenter (Sweeney), Anya Corazon (Merced), and Mattie Franklin (O’Connor) are all different Spider-Women in the comics—maybe Madame Web is trying to go at it with a Charlie’s Angels angle?
If you’ve read the comics, you’ll know that Madame Web is a paralyzed old woman, and it looks like we’re going to be seeing her origin story and the origin of several other Spider-Women. We still have no idea where Sony wants to go with this franchise, but some are guessing it’s all building up to more Multiverse shenanigans that will introduce more Spider-Man characters besides Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
Regardless, the internet is already having fun with the trailer, especially counting the reputation of Sony’s Spider-Verse spinoffs:

Madame Web is set to release in theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.
]]>As confirmed by Variety, Sydney Sweeney will be playing the part of Julia Carpenter a.k.a. Spider-Woman who is now the comics’ Madame Web. When Sweeney got the part, she had said, “I was freaking out, of course… I went straight to the comic store, and I bought every comic that mentioned my character.”
In the comics, Carpenter was an agent for the Comission who became part of an experimental study that gave her powers equivalent of Spider-Man. Though she did start our as Spider-Woman, she did get other aliases including Arachne, Spider-Girl, and Spider-Lady.
For now, the dominant Spider-Women in the big screen are both Jessica Drew and Gwen Stacy from Across the Spider-Verse, but the character is yet to make their debut in live-action.
Though the Venom films did make money in the box office, all the other spinoffs like Morbius were not able to make a huge box office draw. The jury is still out for how Kraven will go, but some are still on the fence about Madame Web and what kind of direction Sony wants to take the spinoff.
Madame Web is set for a release on Feb. 14, 2024, but in the meantime, Spider-Man fans can watch out for Kraven the Hunter which is set to release on Oct. 6.
]]>Talking to Variety, Sweeney explains:
“I’ve been ordering a bunch of comic books… There’s a lot to learn. I’ve always been a really big fan of all of the Marvel and Sony Universe movies. I’ve grown up watching them all and I’ve been engulfed in the entire world my entire life, so being able to be a part of that is such an incredible, incredible thing.”
Besides Sweeney, the only other main character in the movie we know is Dakota Johnson who will be playing the part of Cassandra Web. Though the character is mostly known as a paralyzed old woman in the comics, it’s very likely that Sony is planning on revamping the character to fit the current cinematic universe.
Though the Venom movies have been commercial successes, a lot of flak has been thrown at the recently released Morbius. If anything, the Jared Leto-fuelled vampire action flick has scored lower than Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four film, making it the worst reviewed Marvel movie of all time.
Hopefully Madame Web doesn’t fall into the same trap, but Sony better find out exactly what they want to do to their Spider-Verse because sooner or later fans are going to stop giving them chances. I mean, who is even excited for the Kraven movie?
No release date has been set for Madame Web, but you can catch Sweeney in Euphoria now on HBO Max.
]]>Check out the trailer for Euphoria season 2 down here:
We don’t have a synopsis for the second season, but it looks like Rue will be once again struggling with her drug addiction. Besides that, Rue also has to navigate the drama of her social circles; and her friends are all going through their own problems as well.
Besides the returning characters, the preview also seems to give us an idea of the music in the series. While the drama itself is interesting, Euphoria also stands out with its electronic, R&B soundtrack, which really adds a lot to its overall feel. You really have to hand it to series composer Labrinth; top it off with some trippy visuals, and you have what I personally consider “the thinking person’s Riverdale.”
Jokes aside, Euphoria is the more artsy take on puberty and coming of age, and despite the target demographic, the show doesn’t seem to be talking down to its audience. If you want a more upbeat, positive take on modern puberty though, I suggest you go over to Netflix and check out Sex Education.
Catch Euphoria when it hits HBO Max on Jan. 09, 2022.
