The final season is currently underway, and Netflix has decided to drop a first look at Stranger Things 5.

Check this out:

Title reveals have also been made for the upcoming episodes of the fifth season, and it’s been confirmed that the story will take place on “The Fall of 1987”. Check out the reveal here:

Looking back at the photos though, it’s kind of odd that the school seems to be functioning like normal, seeing as there was a huge earthquake that split the town of Hawkins into multiple pieces.

We don’t know how the fifth season will actually handle it, but I do have a feeling that maybe the rift will somehow be fixed, but the Upside Down will just keep leaking into the real world and continue to mess everything up for the citizens of Hawkins.

By the end of the series though, fans are hoping that the show will answer all the definitive questions of what the Upside Down is and how exactly it functions in connection to our world. The Duffers have been said to know exactly what’s going on from the start, but the mystery has been going on for four seasons, and with this being the last one, fans think they deserve to have all their big questions answered.

Watch out for the final season of Stranger Things when it hits Netflix sometime in 2025.

Netflix Drops Behind-The-Scenes Look at Final Season of Stranger Things https://www.geekfeed.com/bts-look-at-final-season-of-stranger-things/ Thu, 18 Jul 2024 10:32:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83345 Maybe any visuals aren’t ready for Stranger Things Season 5 yet, but Netflix has just dropped a new look behind-the-scenes giving us a status update on one of the most anticipated series on the platform.

Check this out:

We’re officially halfway through filming the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Take it all in nerds, we’re going on one last final ride!

We can’t really infer what to expect storywise when it comes to Season 5, but the trailer does confirm all of the returning cast mates including the original kids, as well as the teen characters.

The season is also introducing a new character played by Terminator icon Linda Hamilton. It’s unclear who she’s playing yet, but with Doctor Brenner gone, someone else has to be the face of the government, and Hamilton definitely has the screen presence for a no-nonsense military-type.

We don’t have much details on new characters, but we do see a chubby kid with glasses standing next to Erica (Priah Ferguson), so maybe the gang gets one more adorable kid to join all the weirdness that’s going to be ensuing in Hawkins for one last time (hopefully).

We don’t know when we can get a first official trailer, but with production ongoing and special effects expected to be extensive, Netflix may have to wait until later in the year to give fans their first look.

Stranger Things 5 is set to premiere sometime next year.

The First Shadow: Meet Henry Creel in First Look at the Stranger Things Play https://www.geekfeed.com/the-first-shadow-meet-henry-creel/ Sat, 25 May 2024 19:15:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82561 Sequels to popular IP are a dime-a-dozen, but once in a while we get some more unique spinoffs like live-action theaterical plays; and though The Cursed Child isn’t anyone’s favorite Harry Potter story, Stranger Things is taking a leaf out of that franchise’s book with their upcoming play Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

The play is set to premiere at the Phoenix Theatre in London, and we have our first look courtesy of Netflix. Check this out:

As you can see, the show is full of all kinds of unique visuals that are signature to Stranger Things from the period looks to the more horrific Upside Down sequences. We also have the Hawkins Facility Rainbow Room where all the other special kids got experimented on.

Though Henry Creel was just a newly introduced character in Stranger Things, he’s been revealed to be the big bad for the entire series, and it’s going to be interesting to see his story getting broken down—I live theater no less.

Not only do we get Creel’s backstory, but we also get a look at young Hopper and Joyce, and even Bob Newby. Fingers crossed we get some kind of alusion to The First Shadow with the final season of the show.

Here’s the official synopsis for the play:

Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.

Tickets for Stranger Things: The First Shadow are now available.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Loses Showrunner to Percy Jackson https://www.geekfeed.com/avatar-the-last-airbender-loses-showrunner/ Fri, 12 Apr 2024 10:59:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81852 Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender was considered to be a massive success, but it has been heavily criticized for the change in character arcs and overall writing. Though the next two seasons had already been greenlit, the show has experienced one major shakeup.

Variety reports that the series showrunner Albert Kim has stepped down from the show. In Kim’s place, executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani will be taking over. According to insiders, after the multi-year development process of Airbender, he decided to pursue a different opportunity with Disney to work on the Percy Jackson series.

This isn’t the first snag that ATLA has caught in its developing process. Originally, the show had creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko attached, but the two decided to leave the project after creative differences.

If anything, the show looks to be in good hands. Boylan herse;f has worked on great series like Poker Face with Rian Johnson. Raisani, on the other hand, was a VFX supervisor and has worked on shows like Stranger Things and Game of Thrones. He’s also directed episodes of Airbender and Lost in Space which also starred Gordon Cormier.

We don’t know exactly how Airbender is expected to change moving forward, but we do know that a lot of people weren’t happy with the exposition and writing. Hopefully the learn from their mistakes and manage to give better characterization for everyone in the following seasons.

No release date has been set for the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Damsel Trailer Flips the Princess Trope with Millie Bobby Brown https://www.geekfeed.com/damsel-trailer-with-millie-bobby-brown/ Wed, 14 Feb 2024 10:45:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81062 Millie Bobby Brown has been the face of strong female protagonists since Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, and now she’s ready to go the fantasy route with the upcoming Netflix movie Damsel. The movie is set to hit streaming this March, and Netflix has dropped a new trailer that has Brown pulling a Gandalf and going up against a flaming winged monster.

Check this out:

The official description of the film reads:

A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.

The movie is being directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo who was also the director behind 28 Weeks Later. Brown is also joined by a cast which includes Ray Winstone (Beowulf), Angela Bassett (Black Panther), and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

Just like with Enola Holmes flipping the script on the sleuth detective, Damsel also looks to play with the fantasy genre in that we have a princess that is tasked to slay a dragon herself rather than wait for a prince to save her.

With Stranger Things coming back in 2025, Damsel should be right up the alley for anyone missing Brown on their screens going up against insurmountable odds. Hopefully it has more to say about the fantasy trope, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Watch out for Brown when Damsel hits streaming on March 8, only on Netflix.

Stranger Things Star Noah Schnapp Gets Slammed for Pro-Israel Posts https://www.geekfeed.com/noah-schnapp-gets-slammed-for-pro-israel-posts/ Wed, 15 Nov 2023 16:07:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79643 The SAG-AFTRA Strike is done, meaning the cast of Stranger Things can finally get to work, but it looks like one of its stars has caught the ire of the internet.

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers in the show, has been spotted in a video with his friends handing out stickers that say “Hamas is Isis” and “Zionism is Sexy”. Here’s the clip going around:

Even before that, Schnapp has been vocal about his support for Israel online, and has been getting bashed over the past few weeks. It’s possible that this video is only getting attention right now because of them seemingly trivializing the conflict with ‘catchy slogans’.

Already people online are talking about skipping out on the final season of Stranger Things and recasting the part of Will Byers. Here are some posts:

So far we haven’t been getting any response from Netflix or anyone else from the Stranger Things team, but if I were to guess, I do think that there could Schnapp’s role in the show is safe. The issue between Palestine and Israel is polarizing enough, and firing Schnapp would mean that Netflix would be taking a side on the issue. Besides, at 19-years-old, Schnapp is probably young enough to be considered a victim of misinformation.

It’s likely they’ll just get him in a room with a PR handler who’ll watch over his social media until the series releases.

No release date has been set for the final season of Stranger Things.

Millie Bobby Brown Must Slay a Dragon in First Teaser for Damsel https://www.geekfeed.com/slay-a-dragon-in-first-teaser-for-damsel/ Wed, 15 Nov 2023 14:04:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79618 Stranger Things may be gearing up for its final season, but star Millie Bobby Brown isn’t any less busy. Besides her Enola Holmes movies, she’s set to star in an upcoming fantasy-action movie called Damsel.

Watch the reveal teaser here:

The official description of the film reads:

A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.

Besides Brown, the movie also has a cast which includes the likes of Robin Wright, Angela Bassett, and Ray Winstone. The film is also being directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who was behind filmslike 28 Weeks Later and 2011’s Intruders starring Clive Owen.

While everyone is familiar with the term “Damsel in Distress” we can expect Damsel to possibly subvert multiple tropes when it comes to the fantasy genre. We already have a princess and a dragon; but how will they handle other expected fantasy elements like the prince and evil queen, and other kinds of fantastical creatures.

With the SAG-AFTRA Strike officially over, Brown and the rest of her Stranger Things co-stars can get back to work; but we will have to wait before we can get back to the world of Hawkins, Indiana. Hopefully Damsel will manage to keep fans satisfied until then.

Damsel is set to release on Netflix sometime in 2024.

Stranger Things Director Talks the ‘F*cking Awesome’ Prequel Play https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-director-talks-prequel-play/ Fri, 20 Oct 2023 10:31:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79308 Shawn Levy may be best known for his family-friendly action films like Free Guy and The Adam Project, but he’s also the director for one of Netflix’s biggest shows—Stranger Things.

Though the season is set to end with the fifth one, there is a play in the works called Stranger Things: The First Shadow, and it will follow a young Hopper and Joyce as things start getting weirder in Hawkins. We don’t know what the play will look like yet, but Levy is also involved, and he gives an update about the production.

Talking to The Wrap, Levy explains, “We’re busy on a bunch of fronts because we also have our ‘Stranger Things’ play opening in London imminently. It’s fabulous. It’s f–king awesome.” Levy continues, “It has exceeded all our expectations. We’re very excited to share that with the world… We are raring to go — our cast, our crew. Everyone not only needs to get back to work because we have many hundreds of crew members who have not been able to make a living since the strikes began, but we will be shooting very shortly after the actor’s strike ends.”

So far, the play has only been able to release a teaser, but we have yet to get any photos of the cast in full costume:

https://twitter.com/i/status/1676561572599156737

The play does come with a synopsis which promises to bring fans to Hawkins 1959:

Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.

Take note, Henry Creel a.k.a. Vecna, is only going to be 12-years-old in this show. We don’t know exactly what’s going to go on, but with the original show debuting with a mysterious young girl with powers, we could very well see the opposite of Eleven’s story play out with Creel arriving in Hawkins.

Then again, that’s just my guess.

No release date has been set for Stranger Things: The First Shadow yet, but some fans think it could open around the same time as the premiere for the fifth season of the show sometime next year.

Stranger Things Director Updates on Status of His Star Wars Project https://www.geekfeed.com/shawn-levy-updates-on-status-star-wars-project/ Tue, 19 Sep 2023 09:43:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78798 It was reported late last year that Stranger Things and Free Guy director Shawn Levy was in talks to helm a Star Wars project, and a lot of fans thought he would be perfect for the IP.

For now, Levi is deep at work with Marvel’s Deadpool 3, but he does offer an update on what’s happening with his Star Wars. Talking to Collider, Levi confirms that the project is currently on hold thanks to the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes. He says, “We were just starting the process of developing my [Star Wars] movie, and the writer strike happened… So we are in that holding pattern that so much of our industry is in.”

We don’t have any details on what kind of story Levy has in mind for Star Wars, but we do know that the IP has been alluded to in several of Levy’s projects like the Millennium Falcon in Stranger Things and Ryan Reynolds wielding a lightsaber/laser weapon in Free Guy and The Adam Project.

Admittedly, Lucasfilm has been announcing several directors whose projects seem to have gone nowhere from Patty Jenkins to Taika Waititi, and even Watchmen series creator Damon Lindelof.

We don’t know exactly what is holding up the SW projects over at Disney, but with the very vocal (and oftentimes toxic) fandom of Star Wars online, it seems that the company is trying to find out a way to release things while disappointing the least amount of people.

Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau seem to be doing well on the fanservice side of things, but there is a chunk of the fandom (who some believe is the actual majority) that believe SW should embrace actual good storytelling first.

With Levy’s penchant for family-friendly films, I’m not surprised Lucasfilm would approach him for a Star Wars picture. Hopefully the strike ends soon, and he can get to work on it ASAP.

No release date has been set for Levy’s Star Wars.

Check Out Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder on the Set of Beetlejuice 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/jenna-ortega-and-winona-ryder-beetlejuice-2-set/ Tue, 11 Jul 2023 13:30:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77736 Jenna Ortega swept the entire world with her performance in Tim Burton’s Wednesday, and now she’s dipping her toes in another Burton property with the sequel to Beetlejuice.

Thanks to People Magazine, we have a set photo of Ortega in a wedding dress as well as original Beetlejuice lead Winona Ryder. Check them out here:

It was reported back in May that Ortega will be playing the daughter of Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz. We don’t know exactly what the story is going to be like yet, but we’re also expecting Michael Keaton to return as the chaotic demon Beetlejuice.

With roles in Scream, X, and Wednesday, Ortega is slowly cementing herself as this generation’s horror icons; so it was perfect that she would be cast in a revival of a property like Beetlejuice. Though Ryder is now best known for her role as a distraught mother in Stranger Things, it’s going to be interesting to watch her pass the torch to Ortega as the new lead girl of the franchise.

As for Michael Keaton, we don’t really know how he feels coming back to another classic character after Batman in The Flash, but hopefully he plays the part with all the enthusiasm of Harrison Ford coming back as Indiana Jones in Dial of Destiny.

Beetlejuice 2 is set to release on Sept. 6, 2024, but in the meantime, you can check out Ryder and Ortega on their respective shows Stranger Things and Wednesday now streaming on Netflix.

The First Shadow: Watch Teaser for Stranger Things Stage Play Prequel https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-teaser-for-stranger-things-stage-play/ Mon, 10 Jul 2023 06:33:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77707 Harry Potter may have had The Cursed Child, but Netflix is set to expand the Stranger Things lore with a prequel dubbed Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The play is set to debut on London’s West End sometime later in the year, and we just got our first teaser.

Check it here:

The teaser doesn’t really give us a look at anything in the play, but it does tease that the story could have hints for the upcoming final season.

Here’s the synopsis for the show:

Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.

Though we get the reveal that Henry Creel is Vecna in the series, in this timeline, he’s only 12-years-old. While we expect the characters of Hopper, Bob, and Joyce to be teens, at least we still have that ‘kid with weird powers’ element with Creel—kind of like an anti-Eleven.

With the stage play expecting to premiere sometime this year, hopefully we get a look at the cast soon. It’s going to be a bummer that the show won’t be on TV, but hopefully Netflix will release a live recording of the play, just like Disney+ did with Hamilton.

No specific release date has been set for Stranger Things: The First Shadow, but you can catch the first four seasons of the show now streaming on Netflix.

Terminator Star Linda Hamilton Joins Stranger Things 5 https://www.geekfeed.com/linda-hamilton-joins-stranger-things-5/ Tue, 20 Jun 2023 14:15:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77382 We know that Stranger Things has homages to all-things-80s, and they even went so far as to have a ‘Terminator’ in the third season. Now they’re actually bringing in a star from that franchise—but it isn’t Arnold Schwarzenegger.

As announced at TUDUM 2023, Linda Hamilton a.k.a. the original Sarah Connor, will be joining the cast of Stranger Things 5. Here’s the post:

We don’t have any idea as to who Hamilton will play, but with Dr. Brenner having finally died in the last season, I’m suspecting we could be meeting someone even higher on the Hawkins National Laboratory ladder.

Then again, I’m always eager to be surprised. With Hamilton kind of getting boxed into the “badass, tough lady” role, I would prefer to see her play someone a bit warmer; but then again, this is the last season of the series, and I suspect everything is going to be ramped up into 11 until the whole threat with Vecna and the Upside Down is finally dealt with.

I’ll admit, Stranger Things hasn’t been the perfect show, but each season has always managed to be as compelling as the last. The Duffer Brothers have definitely found a good balance between nostalgia and homage, and though their inspirations are clear, the series still manages to feel fresh and exciting. Of course, we also have to hand it to the amazing cast.

Stranger Things 5 has no release date yet, but fans are expecting a release on Netflix sometime in 2024.

Netflix Launches Board Game Stranger Things: Upside Down https://www.geekfeed.com/board-game-stranger-things-upside-down/ Mon, 05 Jun 2023 16:51:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77144 The WGA Strike may have effectively delayed the final season of Stranger Things, but Netflix has one tie-in game that they just launched and should be perfect for fans who enjoy tabletop games.

Check out the launch trailer for Stranger Things: Upside Down by Rob Daviau:

Here’s the official description for the game (via CMON):

Hawkins, Indiana seems like an average town. However, underneath the exterior lurks a secret. The Hawkins National Laboratory has been doing experiments that have unleashed the horrors of the Upside Down. It’s up to the kids in the town to save it.

In Stranger Things: Upside Down, players take on the role of the kids of Hawkins who are trying to stop the operatives of the Hawkins National Laboratory and the evils from the Upside Down. Players must work together to clear stacks of tokens before time runs out. The game offers 2 seasons of play.

The trailer doesn’t really go into specifics when it comes to the details, but it does give audiences an idea of how extensive of a video game it is, with tokens and cards, locations, and characters. In true Dungeons & Dragons fashion, we also get some miniature figures of each of the kids, including the OG Stranger Things villain, the Demogorgon.

With the game covering the first two seasons, I think there is plenty of room for a sequel following the story of Vecna; but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how the release of Upside Down will fare.

Stranger Things: Upside Down is now available at select retailers. Watch out for the final season of Stranger Things when it premieres on Netflix sometime in 2024.

TUDUM 2023 Teases Reveals for Rebel Moon, The Last Airbender, One Piece, and More https://www.geekfeed.com/tudum-2023-teases-reveals-for-rebel-moon-and-more/ Mon, 05 Jun 2023 02:51:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77091 Pop-culture fans may be waiting for the San Diego Comic-Con to take place in July, but this month will have Netflix revealing their up-and-coming projects with TUDUM 2023.

The streaming giant has just teased their upcoming event with a star-studded clip, and they’ve also revealed that they are going to be publishing it live for the first time. Check this out:

Here’s the official description:

TUDUM: A Global Fan Event is back streaming live from Brazil! Mark your calendars! Tune in on June 17, 2023 to watch your favorite global stars reveal exclusive news and debut never-before-seen footage, trailers, and first looks of your favorite shows, movies and games.

Though we had already seen teasers for incoming projects like Extraction 2 and All the Light We Cannot See, the event is also promising us our first looks at highly-anticipated projects like the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender and One Piece.

Let’s also not forget follow-ups to hit shows that are already on Netflix like Wednesday, The Witcher, and Stranger Things.

For now, Netflix is kind of in a PR mess with users angry that they are now charging for accounts that aren’t in one household, but maybe the promise of good incoming content could ease some resentment. With the streaming service having lost some solid shows like The Office and everything under the Marvel and Star Wars banner, they’ll have to scramble and come up with some good content to keep that subscriber number up.

Watch out for TUDUM 2023 when it goes live on June 17.

Beetlejuice 2: Jenna Ortega to Play the Daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia https://www.geekfeed.com/beetlejuice-2-jenna-ortega-to-play-lydia-daughter/ Thu, 11 May 2023 16:38:49 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76743 Winona Ryder may have been the OG goth girl in Beetlejuice, but with the sequel coming, it looks like someone else will have to take on that role.

DiscussingFilm reports that Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has been cast in Beetlejuice 2, and she will be playing the part of Lydia Deetz’s (Winona Ryder) daughter. Ryder herself is set to appear in the film, and of course, it isn’t a Beetlejuice film if they didn’t bring back Michael Keaton.

It’s also worth mentioning that Tim Burton—who also directed Wednesday—is also back at the helm for the Beetlejuice sequel.

We don’t have any idea as to what the plot for Beetlejuice 2 is yet, but some speculate that it will be Ortega’s character that will summon him and have to deal with his undead shenanigans. If anything, we should expect a plot that’s similar to the first movie, with Beetlejuice wreaking havoc for both the living and the dead.

Here’s the synopsis of the original film:

Michael Keaton, Academy Award winner Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, and Winona Ryder star in director Tim Burton’s comic twist on supernatural horror tales–Beetlejuice. When a couple of nice, young homebody ghosts try to haunt the pretentious humans who have moved into their house, they ask for help from a demonic wraith they cannot control in this comic fantasy that mixes the quick and the dead with a laugh and a fright.

With a release set for Sept. 6, 2024, hopefully we get our first look at Beetlejuice 2 before the year ends. In the meantime, you can catch Ortega and Ryder in their own Netflix series Wednesday and Stranger Things (respectively).

Stranger Things 5 has been Delayed by the WGA Strike https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-5-has-been-delayed/ Thu, 11 May 2023 13:52:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76720 Netflix is set to end Stranger Things with the next season, and production was set to begin this year. Bad news is, it looks like the series will have to be delayed.

As confirmed by the show creators the Duffer Brothers online, Stranger Things 5 has chosen to halt production because of the Writers Guild Strike. The post reads:

For context, the WGA Strike has taken place when the guild has decided that studios should pay writers fair wages. Things had apparently gotten trickier since television moved over to streaming, and apparently, there aren’t any rules established on what benefits a writer can receive if their show gets on a streaming platform.

There have been WGA Strikes before, with the most recent one taking place in 2007–2008, lasting 100 days. Though productions can still continue without writers, it has been a proven point that the quality of the writing declines; just look at what happened to Heroes.

The online community has applauded the Duffers for halting production, especially with such a high-profile show. We don’t know how long the strike will last this time around, but hopefully the studios can come to a reasonable agreement.

No release date has been announced for the final season of Stranger Things, but fans were expecting the show to come back in 2024. We don’t know how long the strike could last, but the release of Season 5 will depend on when the strike ends.

Henry Cavill Returns as Geralt One Last Time in Teaser for The Witcher Season 3 https://www.geekfeed.com/henry-cavill-returns-in-the-witcher-s03-teaser/ Wed, 26 Apr 2023 18:07:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76521 Fans thought they had seen the last of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, but the ex-Superman has one more season of witch hunting to deliver. Just in, we have a new teaser for the third season of The Witcher on Netflix, and it promises some more mature fantasy that’s signature to the Witcher brand.

Check this out:

Just like with Stranger Things, it looks like Netflix wants to extend Cavill’s Witcher run by even a little, and they’ve split his last season in two. Though fans had thought that Netflix’s model of dropping the entire season on Day One was unique at first, there has been a realization that shows tend to stay in the online conversation longer when they’re dropped every week. Just compare the buzz of The Last of Us and House of the Dragon to a release like Wednesday.

Going back to Witcher though, Cavill’s replacement has already been announced to be Liam Hemsworth. We don’t know how Netflix has decided to make that transition, but some speculate that they could be ending Geralt’s arc with Yennefer and Ciri with this season; and Season 4 would mark a new beginning with a new face for Geralt.

I was actually guessing that they would move the spotlight to an adult Ciri, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

The Witcher Season 3 Vol. 1 drops on Netflix on June 29, and Vol. 2 comes out July 27.

All the Light We Cannot See: Watch Trailer for Wartime Drama from Stranger Things Director https://www.geekfeed.com/all-the-light-we-cannot-see-gets-wartime-drama/ Thu, 20 Apr 2023 17:58:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76396 Shawn Levy has been known to be a modern-day Chris Columbus with family-friendly action movies like Night at the Museum and Free Guy—and let’s also not forget about Netflix’s mega-hit Stranger Things. Despite Levy’s filmography, he has teamed up with Netflix for something on the more serious side.

Check out the trailer for miniseries All The Light We Cannot See:

The trailer doesn’t have any dialogue at all, but we can see that the story takes place during WWII around the rise of the Third Reich. Here’s the synopsis:

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE tells the story of the extraordinary power of human connection. Over the course of a decade, this limited series interweaves the lives of Marie-Laure Leblanc, a blind French girl taking refuge with her uncle during WWII, and Werner Pfennig, an brilliant German teenager with an expertise in radio repair. Through a shared secret connection, they find faith in humanity and the possibility of hope.

The series stars Louis Hofmann, Lars Eidinger, Marion Baily, Hugh Laurie, and Mark Ruffalo. The series also introduces us to newcomer Aria Mia Loberti, who is said to be an actual blind actress; what’s also impressive is that she has no prior acting experience before she was cast in the film.

We know all about wartime dramas, with several great entries in the genre over the decades, but I’m interested to see what kind of series Levy can come up with, knowing his knack for kid-friendly action.

Catch All The Light We Cannot See when it starts streaming on Netflix on Nov. 2.

What’s interesting is,  Schnapp had decided to recently come out of the closet as gay himself.

He posts on his TikTok who he had finally come out to his friends and family as gay with them replying, ‘We know.’ Here’s the post:

@noahschnappI guess I’m more similar to will than I thought♬ original sound – princessazula0

Schnapp had also captioned the clip, I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”

Ever since the announcement, Schnapp had received a lot of support online, and a lot of fans have actually been reacting like his family, saying they were expecting it the whole time. Some were even joking that he plays Will Byers so well in the show because he himself was a closeted gay, but that’s probably just a coincidence.

Going back to the series though, it seems that Will Byers will once again be found in the spotlight of the final season focused on the finding of Will after he goes missing, it’s probably fitting that the show should end with Will confronting the monsters from the Upside Down.

I’ll admit, this is starting to look like the show is going to end with Will eventually dying, but I hope that the Duffer Brothers manage to get to a conclusion that’s a bit more hopeful and a lot less predictable.

The fifth season of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix sometime in 2024.

Stranger Things Director Shawn Levy in Talks to Helm Star Wars https://www.geekfeed.com/shawn-levy-in-talks-to-helm-star-wars/ Wed, 09 Nov 2022 10:44:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71949 Director Shawn Levy has been considered a modern-day Chris Columbus, making family-friendly action adventures from Night at the Museum to Stranger Things. Now it looks like he could be working on one of the most valued movie IPs of all time.

As per Deadline, Levy is currently in talks to develop a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. We have no details about the film he could be working on, but it’s said that he’ll get to work on it after Deadpool 3 and the final season of Stranger Things.

This must come as a huge opportunity for Levy who has laced his previous works with Star Wars references like the Falcon in Stranger Things and the pseudo-lightsaber in The Adam Project. I expect he would be the prefect talent to deliver a Star Wars film that has a solid story and is also a fun adventure for kids and their parents. I’m just hoping working on two big franchises won’t have him burnt out by the time he’s set to work on Star Wars.

I guess one question that a lot of people will have is whether Levy will be bringing in his frequent collaborator Ryan Reynolds. With Star Wars a franchise that kind of doesn’t depend on popularity of actors, I can imagine them putting Reynolds in some kind of alien get-up as a fun cameo. I think he would be a fun smuggler character like Han Solo.

For now, watch out for Deadpool 3 which is set to come out Nov. 8, 2024.
