Sony – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Fri, 13 Dec 2024 11:57:51 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Sony – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Kraven the Hunter: Sony’s Spider-Verse Officially Dead? https://www.geekfeed.com/kraven-the-hunter-spider-verse-officially-dead/ Fri, 13 Dec 2024 11:57:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85600 A lot of people have been saying that Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters (or the SUMC) was a bad idea, but Venom apparently made money, and Sony has been trying to replicate the success with Morbius, Madame Web, and now Kraven the Hunter.

Though it has been rumoured that Sony is building up to a team-up movie with Knull, it looks like that won’t be happening anymore. According to The Wrap, Kraven may be the real “last dance” for the SUMC, and now Sony is just going to be focusing on three upcoming Spidey projects—Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland, Beyond the Spider-Verse, and the live-action Spider-Noir with Nicolas Cage.

When it came to the closing of the SUMC, an insider had said, “The biggest issue with the Sony Spider-Man spinoffs seems to be the lack of quality control. The movies just aren’t good… Sometimes that lack of quality meets a movie no one asked for, which was the case with Madame Web, and that is a no-win scenario. It may be time for Sony to start cultivating different IP to launch new franchises.”

As a staunch defender of Madame Web as an enjoyable camp movie, there’s no denying that the spinoffs outside of Venom have all been big flops, and even reviews for Kraven have not been nice to the film.

If anything, there’s still a chance for these characters to show up down the line as actual Spider-Man villains. We don’t know what Sony has planned, but maybe they can just shift focus on various different Spider-People as compared to just making villain movies that don’t mention Spider-Man at all.

Kraven the Hunter comes to cinemas this week on Dec. 13.

God is Coming: Knull Teased as a Multi-Movie Villain https://www.geekfeed.com/knull-teased-as-a-multi-movie-villain/ Wed, 16 Oct 2024 18:30:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84760 We know that Venom: The Last Dance will close the Venom trilogy, but just like with Iron Man, it looks like Sony is expecting the Lethal Protector to hang out for a while, showing up in team-up films on the Sony side of things.

The Last Dance has teased the appearance of the God of Symbiotes, Knull, and while he’s going to be in Venom 3, director Kelly Marcel teases that this is only the beginning for this ancient Marvel being.

Talking to IGN, Marcel confirms, Trust me, we know full well how important Knull is to the fans, so just as we laid a foundation for Venom, we hope we are doing the same for Knull. The King in Black is way too powerful for “one and done”. This film introduces Knull, but it just touches the beginnings of his story. “

When it comes to developing Knull’s arc, Marcel says that they plan to emulate the Infinity Saga and how it teased Thanos for years before they finally gave him the spotlight. Marcel continues, “Marvel’s greatest film villains are developed over time. Here, Knull is the threat lurking behind the danger that tests the absolute limits of Eddie and Venom’s partnership —  but it’s their relationship that remains the heart of this story.”

While we don’t get any specifics on Sony’s plan with Knull, Marcel does leave this teaser, “One movie could never do justice to Knull. Beyond this trilogy, there are more stories to explore – God is coming.”

Admittedly, the idea that Sony is pushing forward with more spinoff films doesn’t really inspire a lot of confidence in fans. So far, Venom has been the only Sony spinoff that’s been able to make bank at the box office. Morbius, Madame Web, and maybe even Kraven have not been able to generate the needed buzz that would make fans confident for an Avengers-level crossover film.

Then again, maybe Venom: The Last Dance will leave fans excited enough to invest in Knull’s storyline. Admittedly, he doesn’t have the decades of legacy behind him like characters like Doctor Doom or Thanos, but it’s great that a newer villain is being given the spotlight in the live-action Marvel space.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t suck. Catch Venom: The Last Dance in theaters Oct. 25.

Set Photos Reveal Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir Series https://www.geekfeed.com/set-photos-reveal-cage-in-spider-noir-series/ Mon, 07 Oct 2024 19:32:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84625 At some point, I wasn’t convinced the series was actually happening, but Spider-Noir is apparently in production, and first set photos of Nicolas Cage have come out online as Ben Reilly.

The photos come from Just Jared, and it has Cage in an old-timey 1950s outfit holding a newspaper  from the Daily Bugle that says, “Silvermane Survives Skivvies.”

The mention of Silvermane is actually interesting, because a possible synopsis did come out a few months ago about what the story could be, and Silvermane was said to be one of the main villains. Here’s what the leaked synopsis said:

“We follow Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a private investigator, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero. Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, which leads him to discover that the Mayor is up to something nefarious that involves crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.”

Admittedly, it’s disappointing that Cage doesn’t have his Spider-Noir costume on, but at his age, nobody is expecting him to be as nimble as one would expect Spider-Man to be. Some guess that Cage is going to be the main narrator of the story, and scenes where he’s Spider-Man are going to be flashbacks, played by a younger actor that can jump around and do more intricate fight scenes.

Seeing that Cage himself is a comic book fan, it’s great to see him working in projects like this. We don’t know exactly where it stands on Sony’s Spider-Verse, but I do commend them for trying some more experimental projects focused on obscure characters.

The Penguin is currently paying off for DC, and hopefully Spider-Noir does the same for the Spider-Man IP.

No release date has been set for Spider-Noir.

Why Ghost of Yotei Didn’t Bring Back Jin Sakai https://www.geekfeed.com/why-ghost-of-yotei-didnt-bring-back-jin-sakai/ Thu, 26 Sep 2024 11:03:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84492 Ghost of Tsushima fans have been waiting for a sequel for years, and PlayStation has finally delivered with their latest reveal of the sequel Ghost of Yotei.

While Jin Sakai may have been the lead of the original game, the sequel will not focus on a new ‘Ghost’ by the name of Atsu. Her backstory isn’t clear yet, but fans are already wondering why the game didn’t just bring back the first game’s hero.

Talking to PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch’s Andrew Goldfarb confirms that the reason why Jin isn’t being brought back for Yotei was because this game actually takes place 300 years after the events of the first game. Goldfarb says:

“We also wanted to continue to innovate. To create something fresh but familiar, we looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima, and shifted our focus to the idea of the Ghost instead. At Sucker Punch we love origin stories, and we wanted to explore what it could mean to have a new hero wearing a Ghost mask, and uncovering a new legend. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore.”

With the game moving forward 300 years, it also explains why there are some technological advancements shown in the preview—specifically a medieval version of a gun.

It’s not clear how that’s going to function in the game yet, but the original Tsushima gave Jin a variety of weapons including kunai, a blow dart, and a bow. Sure, why not throw an old gun in there?

Other differences with the Atsu character also include the fact that she wields two swords—which will probably come with their own original stances. It’s also kind of implied that she’s going to get animal companions in this one, which is an upgrade from the first game where Jin can only pet the foxes.

Though there are some players who love Jin, it’s going to be interesting to see how the legend of the Ghost evolves over the next few years. Who knows, maybe Atsu may end up just blowing everyone away.

Expect Ghost of Yotei to launch for the PS5 sometime in 2025.

Spider-Man 4 Allegedly Gets 2026 Release Date and Possible Story Details https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-4-allegedly-gets-2026-release/ Wed, 28 Aug 2024 14:51:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84005 It’s been three years since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and we have yet to get any official update on the next Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movie.

While fans are still waiting for Marvel or Sony to say anything about Spider-Man, insider Daniel RPK (via @MCUFilmNews) has allegedly revealed some story details and a planned release date.

The news of the movie being a multiverse film is kind of surprising, since it was rumoured that the next Spider-Man film with Holland was going to be heavily grounded, but it’s also been said that Sony has been pushing for more crossovers and alternate Spider-Men, since they expect it to make more money in the box office, plus it helps establish the non-MCU Spider-Man canon that they’ve been building—like with Kraven the Hunter.

With MCU Peter Parker being dragged to ground zero with No Way Home, a lot of fans thought that the time was right for a smaller-scale Spider-Man film, but knowing how Sony has been treating the IP, it’s not surprising that they would want to continuously keep upping the stakes since Spider-Man is one of their highest-earning franchises.

If you ask me, they should let the animated Spider-Verse movie finish its story first and wait a few more years before having Peter tackle the multiverse again. After all, he’s set to be part of Avengers: Secret Wars which is all about multiverses, so he doesn’t really need a solo film where another Spider-Man fumbles into the MCU.

I wouldn’t say no to an MCU Gwen Stacy or Felicia Hardy introduction though. Let’s see Peter branch out of his dating life after years of just MJ.

No official release date has been announced for Spider-Man 4.

Kraven Clashes with Rhino in Bloody New Trailer for Kraven the Hunter https://www.geekfeed.com/bloody-new-trailer-for-kraven-the-hunter/ Mon, 19 Aug 2024 12:04:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83781 First he was Kick-Ass, then he was Quicksilver, and now Aaron Taylor-Johnson is jumping over to the Spider-Verse to play Kraven the Hunter in a standalone film. The film was originally expected to come out this October, but now Sony has pushed the film to December, but at least we got a new trailer with it.

Check this out:

Previous teasers had already showed how brutal Kraven can get as a character (like biting someone’s face off), and this new trailer just further shows how violent Sony is planning this movie to be. We get to see Kraven use traps and all kinds of weapons to make sure his enemies are dying in the most brutal way possible.

Unlike Madame Web before it, it does look like this movie is just going to focus on Kraven and his own family, with the tease of him going after the Rhino. Just like with the Venom franchise, it does look like Sony is leaning in on making Kraven more of a violent anti-hero this time, and there aren’t any hints of him clashing with Spider-Man in this movie.

With flops like Morbius and Madame Web, it’s said that Sony is expecting Kraven to be as financially viable as their Venom franchise. I’ll admit, I’m one of the skeptics when it comes to the success of this movie, but it does look like a hyper-violent John Wick, only this time, the lead has actual superpowers.

Maybe Sony will drop one more look before the movie comes out later in the year.

Kraven the Hunter comes to theatres on Dec. 13.

Madame Web Star Dakota Johnson Hated Being on The Office https://www.geekfeed.com/madame-web-johnson-hated-being-on-the-office/ Tue, 13 Feb 2024 11:35:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81029 A lot of fans were quick to dismiss the first trailer of Madame Web when it dropped, but for some odd reason, the film’s star Dakota Johnson has been stirring a lot of interest in the movie thanks to her press tour.

Johnson had already sparked interest among fans when she released that seductively charged promo video telling people to watch the film, and now she’s spilling the tea on Late Night with Seth Meyers by revealing that she had a small role in the hit sitcom The Office… and she hated being in it.

“That was honestly the worst time of my life. I loved that show so much, and they were like, ‘do you wanna be in the series finale,’ thinking I would be show up for half a day, and I was there for two weeks—and I’m barely in the f*cking show,” said Johnson.

For context, Johnson played a small role in the Office finale where she played one of the new employees hired by Dwight, and her character basically just walked around doing office things.

Since the show was ending around the time she was shooting it, Johnson talked about how dour everyone’s mood also was. She continues, “They were sad, and there were weird dynamics that had been going on for the last 10 years, some people didn’t speak to each other… and no one wanted to talk to me, nobody gave a f*ck.”

Admittedly, this was before Johnson got her big break with the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, and she was only in minor roles in films like 21 Jump Street and The Five-Year Engagement, but seeing she was already in movies, she could have gotten a more memorable role. Even Jim Carrey was able to make a seconds-long cameo work.

For now Johnson has pretty much rebranded her image from her comedy days, and she is causing absolute chaos with this press tour, also leaving her talent agency recently.

What will Madame Web think of next?

Catch Johnson in theaters when Madame Web releases on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14.

State of Play: Watch Combat Reveal for Silent Hill 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-combat-reveal-for-silent-hill-2/ Sat, 03 Feb 2024 17:05:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80889 The Silent Hill franchise from Konami may be have been dormant since they cancelled Hideo Kojima’s game, but the studio is now ready to move forward with some new entries as well as a remake of one of the most celebrated entries in the franchise.

Silent Hill 2 is currently in development, and thanks to State of Play, we have a new look at the game. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the game:

Take a look at new gameplay footage in this trailer, including what to expect from the improved and modernized combat.

Having received a letter from his deceased wife,

James heads to where they shared so many memories, in the hope of seeing her one more time: Silent Hill. There, by the lake, he finds a woman eerily similar to her…

My name… is Maria,” the woman smiles. Her face, her voice… She’s just like her.

Experience a master-class in psychological survival horror―lauded as the best in the series―on the latest hardware with chilling visuals and visceral sounds.

With the original Silent Hill 2 coming out for the PlayStation 2 era of consoles, fans are expecting this remake to add a whole new modern spin on a classic story.

Of course, when it comes to these remakes, there is always two sides that the studio could go; whether they create a whole new game with some original elements, or just polish up the look and gameplay of the original.

Either way, Konami should expect some complaints, but as long as the remake can stand on its own, I think a lot of fans will be pleased.

No specific release date has been announced for Silent Hill 2, but the game is now available for wishlist and it’s possible it could come out later this year or sometime early 2025.

Watch 10-Minute Preview for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach https://www.geekfeed.com/10-minute-preview-death-stranding-2-on-the-beach/ Sat, 03 Feb 2024 16:47:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80884 Kojima Productions had found success with their release of Death Stranding  a couple of years ago, and now Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus are back with the highly anticipated sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

PlayStation’s State of Play has released an in-depth look at the game which includes cinematics, a little backstory, and some gameplay. Plus, we also have a look at the new character played by Elle Fanning. Check this out:

Just like the first Death Stranding, it does look like On the Beach is also going to be vague when it comes to its story, but even if you don’t understand it, fans are expected to just be drawn in by the surreal visuals and crazy concepts.

With Bridges having shut down, we’re now looking at a new company called Drawbridge, and it looks like Sam is going to be helping the rest of the world connect in the apocalypse after the UCA in the first game.

It’s not clear who Elle Fanning’s character is yet, but some are speculating she could be a grown-up Lou from the first game. It also looks like the game is also going to be drawing from God of War’s book and will give Sam his own portable talking information belt accessory.

I just think it’s cool that after they got Guillermo del Toro in the first game, they’re now bringing in Mad Max director George Miller to appear as his own character. You think they could get someone like Christopher Nolan to be in Death Stranding 3? How about David Lynch?

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to release for the PS5 sometime in 2025.

Can Horny Fans Save Madame Web in Theaters? https://www.geekfeed.com/can-horny-fans-save-madame-web-in-theaters/ Tue, 16 Jan 2024 14:57:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80585 After the mega-bomb that was Sony’s Morbius and the general consensus of the Venom films, there hasn’t been a lot of positive buzz surrounding Sony’s next Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web. What’s funny though is that, while the promotion of the movie is ongoing, there seems to be a specific marketing tactic that is getting fans to latch on to the film and promise to watch it in theaters.

The trailer had already spawned a meme with the line, “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died,” but this new promo of star Dakota Johnson seems to really have fans a little hot and bothered. Watch this:

Already replies and reactions to the video are having fans talking about how they could watch the movie just from the sex appeal alone. Sydney Sweeney may be a lightning rod for this kind of energy, but some people can forget that Johnson herself was the lead in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise—arguably one of the most unapologetically kinky movies ever put to screen.

Of course, just because a movie is generating this much buzz online doesn’t mean that it’s going to directly translate to ticket sales. Everyone jumped in on the ‘Morbin’ Time’ hype for Morbius; and the hype got so huge that Sony eventually re-released it—to still empty cinemas.

Who knows, maybe Madame Web will manage to break the mould. Though the movie does feel pretty campy, there is still an audience out there that will probably love it. Jennifer’s Body and The Room are cult classics, and even 2019’s Cats is a hilarious watch.

Madame Web is set to release in cinemas this Valentine’s Day Feb. 14.

Kaitlyn Dever Officially Cast as Abby in The Last of Us Season 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/kaitlyn-dever-officially-cast-in-the-last-of-us/ Mon, 15 Jan 2024 10:41:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80549 Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) was the fan favorite choice to play Ellie in The Last of Us, but she ended up getting too old and Bella Ramsey got the role. Funnily enough, though Dever didn’t land Ellie, she did get someone who is pretty much her series nemesis.

As per Max, Dever has officially been cast in the second season of The Last of Us as Abby Anderson. Here’s the post:

We don’t know how much of Abby’s story is going to be covered in the second season, but I have a feeling that the show could very much just follow Abby’s story after the events of Joel’s massacre at the hospital and the build-up to her going to Jackson.

I honestly don’t want to spoil anything about the character in the series, but anyone who was online when the game dropped knows that Abby was pretty much the target of online vitriol that wasn’t unlike what Kelly Marie Tran was receiving after the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Already fans are hoping that Dever doesn’t receive any of that same backlash once she gets cast in the role, but I think the series is going to be telling a different approach when it comes to Abby’s story, and we could very much be on her side by the time she crosses Ellie’s path in the show.

No release date has been set for the second season of The Last of Us, but we can probably expect it sometime early 2025.

Insomniac Addresses Massive Wolverine Leak and Game’s Future https://www.geekfeed.com/insomniac-addresses-wolverine-leak-and-future/ Wed, 03 Jan 2024 09:35:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80225 Insomniac may have been at a high with the successful release of Spider-Man 2 around the fall, but the studio met the holidays with some distressing news in the form of a massive leak that gave fans a look at the next decade of their projects in development including the upcoming Wolverine game and Venom solo project.

A lot of fans have started getting worried that the studio will have to end up pulling the game after what’s been revealed, but now Insomniac has come out with a statement addressing the leaks and any upcoming future projects. Here’s the post:

Take note, besides a look at what’s been worked on, the leak had also revealed the personal information of current and former employees at Insomniac. Despite this though, the studio has assured fans that the game will be pushing forward. “Like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans,” reads the statement.

Other games that have been revealed in the leak include a solo Venom game dubbed Lethal Protector, the next Spider-Man title, as well as full-on X-Men game. Seeing that a lot of the leaks are just from early development, it was unrealistic to expect to see anything hyper-polished, but so far the reception has been mixed with some excited for a Wolverine game, and other wondering why the traversal looks a lot like Arkham Asylum.

If anything, I just hope the studio will manage to enhance their cybersecurity so they won’t be able to get attacked like this again.

No release date has been set for Wolverine, but Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is now playable for PS5.

The Last of Us Online has been Cancelled by Naughty Dog https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-online-has-been-cancelled/ Mon, 18 Dec 2023 10:25:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80146 The Last of Us Part II was critically acclaimed when it came out, and with the first game having a multiplayer option Faction, fans thought that Part II would be coming out with their own version which was named The Last of Us Online.

A lot of fans thought that the official reveal would come after the recent announcement of the Part II remaster, but Naughty Dog has instead announced that they have made the difficult decision not to release a multiplayer mode for TLOU Part II. Their official post said:

“… In ramping up to full production, the massive scope of our ambition became clear. To release and support The Last of Us Online we’d have to put all our studio resources behind supporting post launch content for years to come, severely impacting development on future single-player games. So, we had two paths in front of us: become a solely live service games studio or continue to focus on single-player narrative games that have defined Naughty Dog’s heritage”

Seeing that it does take a lot of work to keep a multiplayer game going (i.e., Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant), it does make sense that Naughty Dog would have had to sacrifice a huge chunk of their entire development team to be able to just focus on the multiplayer element of the game.

If anything, The Last of Us franchise has more of shined when it comes to its deeply personal story, and it could end up being a tad lackluster for a multiplayer option that is more focused on unique characters and abilities.

Though TLOU Online didn’t push through, the Remastered version does have a new roguelike game mode that allows players to use different characters from the game with their kits enhanced to fit specific abilities. This was probably a leftover from the multiplayer version, but that’s just a guess on my part.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is set to launch for the PS5 on Jan. 19, 2024.

Experience for the first time or relive Ellie and Abby’s story with graphical enhancements, new gameplay modes like the roguelike survival experience No Return, full DualSense™ wireless controller integration, and more.

Fans know that this is basically the same game that came out back in 2020, but you can’t deny that the promise of a more graphically enhanced experience is going to draw interested people in. Not to mention we’re also going to have the chance to be able to play some ‘deleted scenes’ as well as get some new outfits for Ellie and Abby—including an astronaut outfit for Joel’s Baby Girl.

It’s also likely that some hardcore gamers will want to get their hands on the roguelike game mode—seeing that so many players have been flexing their impossible runs online. Hopefully we get more specifics when pre-orders launch next month.

Pre-orders for The Last of Us Part II Remastered stars this December, with the game officially launching for the PS5 on Jan. 19, 2024.

Launch Trailer for Spider-Man 2 Confirms One More Villain https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-confirms-one-more-villain/ Mon, 16 Oct 2023 13:10:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79201 Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 already had a packed roster of main and supporting villains, but a new one has popped up in the launch trailer for the game.

Take a look at Sandman taking on Peter Parker and Miles Morales:

A new description for the game reads:

Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for the PS5 console. Nine months after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we find Miles still enlisting Peter’s help, but when the mysterious symbiote appears, Peter and Miles’ relationships are put to the test. Peter begins to change as he gains symbiote powers, and Miles, Mary Jane, Harry, and the rest of the friend group must help Peter while also facing the impending threats from a cast of new villains like Kraven, Lizard, Sandman, and Venom!

Besides the Sandman reveal, we also get a bit more of Peter Parker being affected by the symbiote. We know that it should make him more ruthless when he’s taking on villains, but it also looks like he’s going to be lashing out at everyone else on his team including Miles and MJ.

Speaking of MJ, a lot of fans think this trailer is confirmation that they’re going to be getting more MJ stealth missions; which a lot thought were the weakest part of the first game. Hopefully they managed to shake-up her side quests this time. I honestly wouldn’t mind driving around in a motorcycle trying to get away from some Kraven thugs.

Spider-Man 2 launches for the PlayStation 5 this coming Oct. 20.

Peter and Miles Take on Venom in Latest Cinematic Trailer for Spider-Man 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/peter-and-miles-take-on-venom-in-spider-man-2/ Thu, 05 Oct 2023 09:31:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79004 A lot of fans have been excited to see new Spider-Man villains like Kraven and Lizard in Spider-Man 2, but the central big bad for the game is definitely the new Venom who may or may not be Eddie Brock.

With the game set to launch this month, we have a new cinematic trailer for Spider-Man 2 which have Peter and Miles taking on Venom. Check this out:

We don’t really have a good handle at the story yet, but we do have some updates from the last game, including Miles’ own evolution into Spider-Man, as well as the death of May Parker. It’s unclear who Venom is going to be yet, but a lot of fans are almost sure that he’s going to be Harry Osborn, who was revealed to have been secretly alive by the end of the first game.

Besides that, we also have some more hints at Peter and Miles’ abilities in the game. We know Peter’s usual Spider-Man kit, but it has been revealed that he does have his mechanical claws to help him fight now. The trailer also showcases all of Miles’ powers, including his electric abilities, as well as his power to turn invisible.

With Spider-Man 2 being exclusive to a new-gen console, a lot of fans are expecting the ante to definitely be upped when it comes to quality for Spider-Man 2. Hopefully they also managed to add some more variety to missions because collecting hidden backpacks gets kind of old.

Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for the PS5 console. Equipped with Miles’ new bioelectric venom power and Peter’s Spider-Arms, the Spider-Men face the ultimate test of strength inside and outside the mask as they fight to save the city, each other and the ones they love, from the monstrous Venom.

Spider-Man 2 is set to launch for the PS5 on Oct. 20.

New International Spider-Man 2 Promo Reveals Just How Massive Venom Is https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-promo-reveals-venom-massiveness/ Fri, 29 Sep 2023 05:43:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78910 We know that Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 is going to be giving us other villains like Kraven the Hunter and the Lizard, but the cherry on the top of the Sunday is definitely the introduction of this universe’s Venom.

Fans are still guessing all kinds of things about this new Venom, but a new international promo has revealed just how massive this thing is compared to the human-sized Spider-Men. Check this out:

While Sony’s movie Venom could pass as a really tall human, it looks like the game’s Venom is a little taller, like a slender version of the Hulk. People are still guessing as to who the identity of this Venom is going to be, and while comic purists say that he has to be Eddie Brock, some think that he’s actually Norman Osborn’s sick son Harry, who was teased way back in the first game.

Though the first Spider-Man game from Insomniac was well-received, the game did get some criticism when it came to the variety of missions and gameplay, which tended to become a bit repetitive. With Miles now a playable character and a whole new gaming system to play the game on, a lot of fans are expecting the sequel to definitely up the ante when it comes to the world of Spider-Man, from the gameplay to the overall narrative.

Fingers crossed they manage to build enough hype for a finished trilogy of games.

Spider-Man 2 launches for the PS5 on Oct. 20.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Gets 2024 Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth-gets-2024-release-date/ Mon, 18 Sep 2023 10:06:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78772 Square Enix fans were hoping that the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake would come out this year, but as it turns out, they’ll have to wait until early 2024.

Just in, a new trailer has been dropped for the game and it confirms the release for Feb. 29, 2024. Watch this:

The official description reads:

The Unknown Journey Continues…

After escaping from the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends set out on a journey across the planet. New adventures await in a vibrant and vast world – sprint across grassy plains on a Chocobo and explore expansive environments.

Though the original FFVII may have closed Cloud’s arc in one game, Square Enix is planning an entire trilogy which was kickstared by Remake. What’s more, they are promising a whole twist to the story, which is why some believe that some characters who famously died in the original game have a chance of surviving in the sequel.

Plus, we see a change in some character relationships when it comes to this new timeline. Sephiroth is famously Cloud’s rival in the original game, but it looks like players will also be able to control him as part of Cloud’s party in Rebirth. What’s more, we also have some more characters that didn’t manage to make it to the first game.

With FFVII being touted as one of the most beloved games in the franchise, it’s great that Square has found a way to update the story and give newcomers a chance to discover the world of Midgar through Cloud’s eyes.

Watch out for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth when it launches for the PS5 on Feb. 29, 2024.

Spider-Man 2 Gives Overview of Expanded New York City https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-2-overview-of-expanded-new-york-city/ Fri, 15 Sep 2023 11:29:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78761 Fans may have been worried for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 for a while, but we’ve been getting more reveals for the game as the release date draws nearer. Just in, we have a new overview of the city and its expansions of Brooklyn and Queens.

Check this out:

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Senior Creative Director Bryan Intihar narrates a first look at the newly expanded Marvel’s New York and what you can expect from its next-gen open-world gameplay.

Though players can switch between Miles Morales and Peter Parker throughout the game, there are some specific missions that will only be available for a specific Spider-Man. While the game has also teased some villains incoming like Kraven, Lizard, and Venom, the overview does tease some other faces we haven’t met in the game world before.

As for cosmetics, the game teases over 60 outfits for both Miles and Peter, with each coming with customizable looks to really let people go wild with their Spider-Men. Besides established looks from other source material, the game is also said to be providing some original costumes that were exclusively created for the game.

Fans are still crossing their fingers that they’ll be able to control Venom at some point in the game (just like some were able to do in Ultimate Spider-Man), but nothing so far has been confirmed for this title. Hopefully we get a better look at combat soon because the symbiote suit looks like an absolute beast against the Kraven soldiers.

Watch out for Spider-Man 2 when it launches for the PS5 on Oct. 20, 2023.

Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Michael Mando Allegedly Making MCU Return https://www.geekfeed.com/homecomings-mando-allegedly-making-mcu-return/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 09:16:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78710 One of the best things that Spider-Man: Homecoming managed to do was introduce several villains without taking the spotlight away from Michael Keaton’s Vulture. The movie somehow introduced the Tinkerer, two different Shockers, the Prowler, and Scorpion played by Better Call Saul’s Michael Mando.

We haven’t gotten any updates from Mando since Homecoming, but a rumor is going around that he’s going to be making his MCU comeback. This comes from @MyTimeToShineHello:

So far, nothing official has been confirmed by Marvel or Sony, but a return from Mando would make sense; what with his character already set-up. In Homecoming, he was there to make a deal with the Vulture for some stolen weapons tech, and after Spider-Man thwarts the deal, Scorpion ends up in prison with some serious injuries, and he even has a brace that would set-up some kind of high-tech prosthetic:

We don’t know exactly what they have planned for him, but the animated Spider-Verse kind of builds on the idea of the Mando Scorpion by introducing a Scorpion that spoke Spanish, and with a lot of his body parts being high-tech prosthtics—one arm being a claw.

If the new Spider-Man films have taught us anything, not every villain has to be the ‘big bad’, and classic villains from the comics can simply just be side characters or small-time crooks. It would be great to have Mando just have a short role in a future film, but seeing how his character was built up in Homecoming, it would be great if he could have a role he can really sink his teeth into.

No release date has been set for the next MCU Spider-Man movie.
