While Marvel Studios and Sony are cooking, rumors are going around online surrounding possible plot points for the film. One of the latest ones to come from @MyTimeToShineH is that the next main villain could be a woman this time. Check out the post:

While no further details have been revealed, the source also says that Sadie Sink isn’t playing the main villain, so it’s possible that she could just be another love interest for Peter Parker; though it’s doubtful that she could be the ‘real’ MJ Watson like some would suggest.

As for the female villain, a lot of fans are assuming that it could be Black Cat. Though she did have some kind of fling with Peter in the comics, it has been said that she is more in love with the Spider-Man persona and not Peter—which made the pairing ultimately doomed.

Personally, I’m up for a genderbent version of any classic villain that hasn’t been presented in the MCU yet like Doc Ock or Lizard; but I also wouldn’t be opposed to Dakota Johnson returning as Madame Web just to be some kind of other mentor figure for Peter.

After the highs of No Way Home, fans are worried that Sony will just want to keep milking the multiverse concept to death. Hopefully we get something street-level again soon to really come back to the roots of the MCU Peter Parker like with Homecoming.

Watch out for Spider-Man 4 when it hits theaters on July 31, 2026.

Spider-Man 4 to Follow-Up Avengers: Doomsday? https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-4-to-follow-up-avengers-doomsday/ Thu, 06 Mar 2025 11:36:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86765 Spider-Man: Far from Home may have spoiled Avengers: Endgame with its first trailer, but it does seem like Marvel Studios and Sony could be on the same page this time with the release for the next Avengers and Spider-Man flicks.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie), Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland is being developed as a ‘direct sequel’ to Avengers: Doomsday and will set-up the road to Avengers: Secret Wars.

It has been said that Spider-Man is going to be playing a major part in the upcoming Avengers films with Peter Parker going up against a villain with the face of his mentor, but it’s unclear where things will be by the time Spider-Man 4 comes along.

The recent leaks have fans speculating that the introduction of Doom’s Battleworld—a melding of several timelines with different versions of the Marvel characters—would happen in Avengers: Doomsday, but it’s possible that the concept art could be for Secret Wars, and Doomsday will introduce Doom and end with the creation of Battleworld.

So if that’s the case, where would Spider-Man 4 take place?

It’s unclear where the story should go for Peter Parker’s return to the spotlight, but it has been said that the movie is going to be street-level with Peter kind of losing himself in the Spider-Man persona. Since the project is still in development, it’s too early to tell what the plan is, but hopefully things will be cleared up by next year when Avengers 5 finally comes to cinemas.

Catch Avengers: Doomsday when it releases in theaters on May 1, 2026. Spider-Man 4 is set to release months later on July 31, 2026.

Sony Head Blames Press for Bombing of Kraven and Madame Web: “They Were Good Movies” https://www.geekfeed.com/sony-head-blames-press-for-kraven-madame-web/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 14:37:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85795 Sony was really hoping for Kraven the Hunter to break the curse of the SUMC, but after another underwhelming premiere, it looks like these Spider-Man spinoffs are finally over.

Even if that is the case, Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra thinks that the SUMC entries didn’t get a fair shake in the cinemas, and the press was absolutely brutal to the films which led to their poor box office numbers. Talking to the LA Times, he was asked about Kraven and Madame Web, to which he explained:

“Madame Web” underperformed in the theaters because the press just crucified it. It was not a bad film, and it did great on Netflix. For some reason, the press decided that they didn’t want us making these films out of “Kraven” and “Madame Web,” and the critics just destroyed them. They also did it with “Venom,” but the audience loved “Venom” and made “Venom” a massive hit. These are not terrible films. They were just destroyed by the critics in the press, for some reason.

Admittedly, the announcement of these Spider-Man spinoffs without Spider-Man was met with confusion when they were first announced. It was actually a miracle that Venom managed to succeed, but critics think that the main reason is because Venom is a popular character by himself, regardless of what anyone says—and that’s what brought in the box office numbers.

When it came to Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven, a lot of fans think that what makes them interesting is their connection to Spider-Man, and they didn’t have enough popularity to make Venom numbers; add to that poor word of mouth, and it’s a recipe for a box office bomb.

Personally, I do love Madame Web. If the Venom movies are going to embrace the camp, MW basically does the same, and there are a lot online that can attest to its camp value—that’s why the film did so great on Netflix.

As for the future of the SUMC, Vinciquerra does admit that they need to rethink their direction moving forward. He says, “I do think we need to rethink it, just because it’s snake-bitten. If we put another one out, it’s going to get destroyed, no matter how good or bad it is.”

We don’t know what Sony wants to do moving forward, but I’m in the camp that they should just embrace the Spider-Verse and focus on multiple running stories with different Spider-Men at the helm.

For now, Kraven the Hunter is out in theaters.

Spider-Man Producer Addresses Anya Taylor-Joy Rumors https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-producer-anya-taylor-joy-rumors/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 07:40:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85775 With Peter Parker losing his friends by the end of No Way Home, a lot of fans speculate that the next Spidey movie could introduce him to some of his flings from the comics like Black Cat.

A rumor has been going around that Anya Taylor-Joy (Dune: Part Two, The Witch) is being considered for a part, and producer Amy Pascal (via ComicBookMovie) was asked to comment on them during a press event. She said about Taylor-Joy possibly coming in:

“She would be fantastic. She’s amazing, [but] we’re not quite at that stage yet. There’s a lot of fantastic female characters but I can’t talk about all this.”

No official story has been dropped for Spider-Man 4, but rumors are heavily hinting that Black Cat will finally make her live-action debut as Peter Parker’s new short-term love interest. Before rumors of Taylor-Joy were floating around, it was said that Sydney Sweeney (Madame Web) was being eyed for the part.

As far as fans know Spider-Man 4 is set to release in the summer of 2026 with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm. Marvel is said to want another street-level story for Peter akin to Homecoming, but it’s said that Sony wants to keep digging at the multiverse concept. With the SUMC ending with Kraven though, it’s possible that Sony’s plans could be changing moving forward.

With Taylor-Joy and Holland being the same age, I can imagine her being a pretty great Black Cat/Felicia Hardy—especially since she can play a bit older compared to Holland’s ‘aw shucks’ nerd Peter Parker. It would definitely be a fun dynamic to put MCU Peter in, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Spider-Man 4 is expected to come out July 26, 2026.

Watch the First 8 Minutes of Kraven the Hunter https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-the-first-8-minutes-of-kraven-the-hunter/ Tue, 03 Dec 2024 15:32:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85486 Sony has been hard at work finding another hit with their Spider-Man properties besides Venom, and this December will see the release of Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The movie comes out next week, and Sony has just dropped the first opening minutes of Kraven, hopefully to entice audiences enough to give the movie a try. Check this out:

The clip essentially hypes up everything fans expect from the movie, from Kraven being a super strong, super skilled killer, to Aaron Taylor-Johnson taking off his shirt.

Admittedly, Sony’s Spider-Man spinoffs have been criticized for being a bit too dated when it comes to their superhero storytelling, but Venom manages to endure because it kind of leans in on the camp factor. Even Madame Web can be celebrated for being camp.

Though Morbius was considered a huge dud on Sony’s part, maybe the appeal of Taylor-Johnson can be a reasonable draw for movie audiences. At least he’s a completely different animal compared to Jared Leto.

The official description for the movie reads:

Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.

Catch Kraven the Hunter when it releases in theatres on Dec. 13.

Agent Venom Movie in the Works? https://www.geekfeed.com/agent-venom-movie-in-the-works/ Wed, 06 Nov 2024 07:22:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85077 We know that Sony has been trying its best to make Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man, and with Venom: The Last Dance, they’ve just closed the only successful franchise to come out of the ‘SUMC’. However, a rumor is going around that Sony is now developing a Venom spinoff. According to insider Daniel RPK (via ComicBookMovie), an Agent Venom movie is said to be in the works. No details have been revealed about the project, but everyone is expecting the lead host to be Flash Thompson, not Eddie Brock.

In the comics, Flash Thompson was Peter Parker’s bully, but in adulthood, he joins the military and loses his legs—resulting in him being experimented on by Norman Osborn, bonding him with the Venom symbiote, and becoming recruited as Agent Venom.

What’s different about Agent Venom is that he’s essentially black suit Spider-Man with military expertise. The catch is that Flash can only keep the symbiote on for 48 hours, because anything beyond that and the Lethal Protector Venom starts to take over and he becomes uncontrollable.

For now, there’s only one onscreen Flash Thompson in the MCU played by Tony Revolori, and though he’s still Peter Parker’s bully, there’s no build-up to him joining the military yet. Some have noted that there’s a soldier character in Venom 3 that gets his legs eaten by one of the Xenophages and his last name is Thompson, so that could be a hint.

Some think that they could actually put this movie in the Tobey Maguire world and have Joe Manganiello play the character. After losing his chance to play Deathstroke, maybe Agent Venom could be a good character for him to make his own?

With Knull being built up and Eddie Brock’s solo run completed, an Agent Venom movie doesn’t sound too farfetched.

An Agent Venom movie hasn’t been officially announced. Venom: The Last Dance is now out in theaters.

Watch: Breakdown of a Chaotic Scene from SNL Biopic ‘Saturday Night’ https://www.geekfeed.com/chaotic-scene-from-snl-biopic-saturday-night/ Thu, 03 Oct 2024 09:46:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84553 Satuday Night Live is about to hit its 50th Anniversary this October, and Sony is going to be commemorating the event with a biopic about the first ever episode produced for SNL called Saturday Night.

The film is set to come out in a few weeks, but thanks to The New York Times, we have an interesting scene breakdown from director Jason Reitman for what is said to be one of the earlier scenes from the film. Check this out:

Though the SNL scene looks like absolute chaos, the movie needed to be extra organized when it came to putting people in front of the screen at the right time. Even Reitman himself shared, “We had to choreograph this movie like a dance film… I’d have a giant whiteboard like a football coach. And I would have to write plays for all the extras and background actors and crew, just so everyone would know where to be.”

The movie even went as far as to have everyone train how to use all of the equipment their character would be using so that they would always look authentic in front of the camera. Everyone was also said to have been mic’d up so they could catch every bit of improvised dialogue that they could.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ghostbusters Afterlife and Frozen Empire, but it’s great to see Reitman going back to his more dramatic roots. Plus it’s going to be interesting to see this experimental biopic which would only be focusing on the first 90 minutes it took right before the cameras started rolling on what would be a historic television show.

Catch Saturday Night when it comes to cinemas on Oct. 11.

The Knull is Introduced in Final Trailer for Venom: The Last Dance https://www.geekfeed.com/the-knull-in-trailer-venom-the-last-dance/ Fri, 13 Sep 2024 07:49:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84278 For some odd reason, the Venom movies apparently make a lot of money in the box office, and Sony is set to close its trilogy of films with Venom: The Last Dance. Just in, a new trailer has been dropped for the movie, and it teases the Knull, the creator of the symbiotes.

Check this out:

In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

While there are a bunch of symbiotes on Earth for Venom and Eddie to deal with already, the trailer gives the first glimpse of Knull, the creator of the symbiotes. With the way that the trailer is cut, it does seem that Knull is free, and the symbiotes me have ended up on Earth just trying to get away from him.

Relatively Knull is a new character created back in the 2010s, but he has a very interesting origin with him being a ridiculously ancient being—he existed before the universe did, and he also has the power to kill Celestials.

Some think that Knull is merely going to be teased in this movie and is going to be Sony’s “Thanos-level” threat which the spinoff villains–Morbius, Kraven, Venom, and Madame Web—have to fend off. It sounds kind of silly, but everything Sony has been doing has been questionable so far; so they having their own kind of Spider-Avengers team-up is really not too far off from what we’ve gotten before.

Watch out for Venom: The Last Dance when it comes out in theatres on Oct. 25.

Spider-Man 4 Finds Director in Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton https://www.geekfeed.com/spider-man-4-finds-director-daniel-cretton/ Thu, 12 Sep 2024 19:00:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84228 It seemed that Destin Daniel Cretton may have lost the good graces of Marvel Studios when he was removed from the helm of the next Avengers movie, but it looks like he’s found himself spearheading another huge property for Sony/Marvel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cretton has been hired as the director for the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland. No details have been released about the story yet, but The Cosmic Circus says that the story will be more of a blend of a street-level and multiversal story.

It’s also worth noting that Cretton is also still attached to the sequel to Shang-Chi, but with Marvel still having no idea to release that, it does seem like Spider-Man is going to be the next thing on his plate.

By the end of No Way Home, Peter Parker has essentially lost everything and is starting at rock bottom. He’s lost his family with the death of May Parker, and since everyone’s forgotten who he is, he’s also lost his connection to Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers.

A lot of fans saw this as a great opportunity to bring the character back to his comic roots i.e., Peter juggling his alter egos and struggling to make ends meet; but it has been rumoured that Sony really wants to keep tugging on the multiverse string—possibly bringing back either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield.

As someone who was a real fan of the story treatment for Homecoming, I was really hoping for a few movies of Peter just tackling the day-to-day of being Spider-Man, but seeing that this is one of Sony’s biggest properties, they would definitely want each entry to be as bombastic as they could make it.

We don’t know when the film is going to give us our first details, but so far, fans have been positive about Cretton landing the role of director. Shang-Chi has proven he can pull off some great action, and maybe some choreographed practical fights are what would make Spider-Man 4 stand out from its predecessors.

No release date has been set for Spider-Man 4.

Entertainment History is Made in Latest Trailer for Saturday Night https://www.geekfeed.com/history-in-latest-trailer-for-saturday-night/ Thu, 12 Sep 2024 18:08:03 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84218 Saturday Night Live may be an institution in the comedy industry now, but back in the 70s, the series was considered to be a huge gamble for NBC.

Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night wants to tell the story of the crew building up to the first SNL show, and the film is set to hit theatres on October. Just in, a new trailer has dropped which teases more of the actual chaos that occurred on that night.

Check this out:

If you do even a little research on how SNL was conceived, you’ll definitely find a lot of stories of how chaotic it was, from the writers who hated Jim Henson and his muppetts to the actors like Chevy Chase and John Belushi being hard to work with.

Of course, Lorne Michaels is also considered to be a legendary producer nowadays when it comes to comedy, and it would definitely be interesting to see what kind of story he had when he was just starting out with a series that nobody thought would be a hit decades later.

At 11:30pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever. Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Gil Kenan & Reitman, Saturday Night is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Full of humor, chaos, and the magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, we count down the minutes in real time until we hear those famous words…

Saturday Night is set to hit theaters on Oct. 11.

Paddington Goes Abroad in Trailer for Third Film https://www.geekfeed.com/paddington-3-goes-abroad-in-new-trailer/ Thu, 08 Aug 2024 13:37:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83687 It was back in 2017 when Paul King had delivered the bafflingly hyped Paddington 2, and now Sony Pictures is ready to bring the marmalade-loving bear back for a third movie.

Just in, they’ve released the first teaser for Paddington 3  a.k.a. Paddington in Peru. Check this out:

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru.

This will be the first Paddington movie that will not have Paul King at the helm. Instead, directing duties have been handed over to Dougal Wilson—who looks to be directing his first feature film with this movie.

Admittedly, there’s a lot of skepticism surrounding the Paddington 3 with Paul King not at the helm, but hopefully enough goodwill from the reputation of Paddington 2 is enough to push audiences to check out this movie when it hits theaters.

Besides Ben Wishaw returning as Paddington (I swear he was supposed to be voiced by Colin Firth), the movie has also brought in a cast which includes Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Imedla Staunton, Emily Mortimer, and Jim Broadbent.

I am also kind of hoping for an appearance from Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka, but I guess that would be a stretch since somebody else holds the rights to that character. Fingers crossed Wilson manages to live up to the standard set by King.

Paddington 3 is set to release in theaters on Jan. 17, 2025.

Madame Web Hits Top 1 as it Debuts on Netflix https://www.geekfeed.com/madame-web-hits-top-1-as-it-debuts-on-netflix/ Sat, 18 May 2024 10:46:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82477 No superhero film had been bashed as hard as Madame Web when it debuted, and while it never really got to blow up in theaters, there have been a few (myself included) who have been attesting that the movie was actually a great time.

Now the movie has come out on Netflix, and it’s turned out to be the Top 1 film on Netflix (as per @HollywoodHandle):

Even before the film released in theaters, Madame Web was already gathering all kinds of memes online starting with the line, “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders right before she died.”

Not to mention the movie also had an all-star cast of some of the most popular young actresses at the time including Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor. Not to mention Dakota Johnson herself was a lightning rod of sex appeal and everything she was saying throughout the entire press tour for the film became meme-able.

Though the film did have its bashers, there were some online who have attested that the campiness for the movie is a delight to watch for any cynical comic book movie fan who knows how to watch films sarcastically.

It’s unclear where Madame Web is going to end up in the socail consciousness, but I have to tell you I honestly haven’t had a better time in the cinema . It’s like The Room for superhero films.

Madame Web is now streaming on Netflix.

Spider-Man Director Jon Watts Gives Advice for Next to Helm Spider-Man 4 https://www.geekfeed.com/jon-watts-gives-advice-for-spider-man-4/ Tue, 14 May 2024 16:23:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82395 Jon Watts has delivered us the Spider-Man “Home” trilogy for Marvel, and with the fourth film underway, it’s been revealed that Watts will be stepping aside to have someone else take the helm.

With everyone wondering who’s going to tackle Peter Parker’s story next, Watts does have some advice for the next director. Talking to Collider, Watts says that it was a fruitless endeavor to try and have Spider-Man do practical swinging:

“I have a very practical bit of Spider-Man advice, and I think every Spider-Man director goes through it. It doesn’t look good when someone is just swinging on a rope. You think you’re gonna go in there, you’re like, ‘we’re gonna do it all practical. We’re gonna get a stuntman. We’re gonna be swinging around.’ It’s boring. It looks dumb. It looks like a monkey swinging on a vine when you put someone on just a rope. Don’t waste your time. That’s my advice to the next Spider-Man director.”

Interestingly enough, The Amazing Spider-Man movie from Marc Webb did try to set itself apart from the Raimi films by having the first practical swinging scene in a Spidey film; and while I do think that the scene looks pretty great, it barely captures just how dynamic Spider-Man’s movements can get when compared to the comics or any other medium.

I just hope that the next director gives us more of the practical suit onscreen. Ever since Spider-Man debuted in the MCU, he’s always looked like he was completely CG compared to the other characters. Hopefully the new director will be able to let Holland look like he’s actually wearing a suit rather than just have his head on a CG body.

No release date has been set for the next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland, but fans are hoping for a 2026 release.

American Born Chinese Star Cast as the Next Karate Kid https://www.geekfeed.com/hinese-star-cast-as-the-next-karate-kid/ Wed, 14 Feb 2024 10:41:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81058 Cobra Kai had introduced to us a new generation of Karate Kids with Xolo Mariduena, but now Sony is ready to once again bring the franchise to a new generation of kids, and they’ve found their new “Daniel-san”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Wang, who is the star of Disney+’s American Born Chinese is going to star in the next Karate Kid movie with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprising their roles from their respective Karate Kid franchises.

As for Wang, he managed to stand out from thousands of entries which came from around the world, and he was said to have had a great audition that showed some deep connection to his character. It also helps that he’s already trained in several forms of martial arts including kung fu, taekwando, and karate, and he’s also fluent in Mandarin.

We don’t have a full breakdown of the story yet, but it’s said that the new Karate Kid will be taking place in the East Coast this time, and Wang will be playing a teen from China who will find their direction via the discipline of martial arts from one or two senseis.

Personally, I’m just hoping we get some kind of reference to Cobra Kai, because that show is mainly responsible for rejuvenating interest in the franchise for the past few years. Not only did they manage to introduce some new kids, but they also managed to toe the line with nostalgia that didn’t feel too pander-y to fans.

The next Karate Kid movie is expected to release in theaters Dec. 13, 2024.

Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving Horror Movie Gets New Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/thanksgiving-horror-movie-gets-new-trailer/ Fri, 06 Oct 2023 09:28:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79052 Besides playing the Bear Jew in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Eli Roth is probably best known for his gore-fest films like Hostel and The Green Inferno, and now he’s going to be taking on a holiday movie with a horror twist with this November’s Thanksgiving.

A new trailer has been dropped for the film, and it has everything you can expect from a Roth movie about pilgrims and turkey. Watch this:

The synopsis reads:

After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the holiday. Picking off residents one by one, what begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan. Will the town uncover the killer and survive the holidays…or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?

We know that Halloween and Christmas dominate the holiday film genre, but once in a while we also get some films focused solely on American Thanksgiving. What’s interesting is, the movie is actually based on the faux trailer that Roth directed for Grindhouse which also featured him (he’s the guy getting head in the car):

No doubt, this Thanksgiving movie looks to be asking the audience to watch it with a cynical lens, and with Roth on the helm, we should expect all kinds of human suffering to be portrayed onscreen. How has this guy not been approached to direct a Saw film?

Watch out for Thanksgiving when it comes to cinemas on Nov. 17.

Watch First Teaser for Goosebumps Reboot Series https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-first-teaser-for-goosebumps-reboot-series/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 09:30:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78702 Sony had attempted to launch a Goosebumps franchise back in 2015 with Jack Black, but after a failed sequel in 2018 (which was sorely lacking Black), the IP looked to be dead in the water. Now Disney+ and Hulu are teaming up for a Goosebumps reboot series, and we have our first teaser.

Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the series:

Inspired by R.L. Stine’s worldwide bestselling book series, “Goosebumps” follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle – while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

Though the Goosebumps movies had embraced the more kid-friendly aspects of the books, it does seem that the new series is going to age things up a bit, what with all these very creepy visuals.

With the original book series being an anthology of stories, it does make sense that an adaptation would be more of a series format, as compared to the films which kind of just leaned in on the premise of the Goosebumps monsters just being unleashed into the real world.

We don’t know exactly what tone the show is going for with this reboot, but with so many adult-oriented horror shows, it would be great if they somehow still made this IP kid-friendly. I mean, what other horror franchise is aimed for kids besides Stranger Things?

Goosebumps premieres on Disney+ and Hulu on Oct. 13.

Neill Blomkamp Takes on Video Games in Trailer for Gran Turismo https://www.geekfeed.com/neill-blomkamp-takes-on-for-gran-turismo/ Thu, 04 May 2023 13:57:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76597 The Need for Speed movie franchise may not have taken off, but PlayStation Studios is ready for an adaptation of another racing IP, Gran Turismo.

Just in, we have a trailer for the GT movie, and it stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Archie Madekwe. Check it:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver.

Though recent PlayStation adaptations like Uncharted and The Last of Us are based on completely fictional stories, the Gran Turismo film is the first one to actually be based on true events; Jann Mardenborough did start off as a Gran Turismo gamer, and after winning a competition, he ended up racing cars for real.

The story is actually pretty crazy, and it’s going to be interesting to see the ins and outs of Mardenborough’s training and how he was able to translate his gaming reflexes to real-life. No doubt, some elements of the story will probably be exaggerated for dramatic effect, but as long as the film is a fun ride, I’m sure nobody will be taking issue.

Let’s also not forget that Neill Blomkamp is in the helm of the film. Though he’s known best for his work on sci-fi with films like Chappie, District 9, and Elysium, I’m excited to see him tackle a sports movie this time around.

Catch Gran Turismo when it comes to cinemas on Aug. 11. The latest GT game, Gran Turismo 7, is now playable for PlayStation 4|5.

Based on the international anime sensation, Knights of the Zodiac brings the Saint Seiya saga to the big screen in live-action for the first time. Seiya (Mackenyu), a headstrong street teen, spends his time fighting for cash while he searches for his abducted sister. When one of his fights unwittingly taps into mystical powers he never knew he had, Seiya finds himself thrust into a world of warring saints, ancient magical training and a reincarnated goddess who needs his protection. If he’s to survive, he will need to embrace his destiny and sacrifice everything to take his rightful place among the Knights of the Zodiac.

Admittedly, when I first saw the trailer, I thought that the film kind of looked like it was trying too hard to be Warcraft or Final Fantasy, but looking at the original anime, you can see that a lot of the visuals are kept, even Seiya’s Pegasus armor. Here’s the original anime intro for context:

If I do have one gripe, it’s that the live-action movie seems to have all the colors muted—not unlike the look for Marvel movies. I guess I would have loved to see more color on Seiya and the other characters, but I guess this film can still work without it.

Seiya comes to screens when Knights of the Zodiac hits theaters on May 12.

The Machine: Bert Kreischer’s Russian Mafia Odyssey Continues in New Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/the-machine-bert-kreischers-russian-mafia-odyssey/ Tue, 28 Feb 2023 13:31:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73514 Bert Kreischer has a lot of great stories in his act, but his most viral story is no doubt the one where he gets entangled with the Russian Mafia when he was in college.

While the premise of the story is good enough to make a movie by itself, Sony Pictures and Kreischer have teamed up to tell a fictional continuation that will bring Kreischer back to Russia alongside a coked-up Mark Hamill.

Watch the trailer for The Machine:

Here’s the official description:

Set 23 years after the original story which inspired it, The Machine finds Bert Kreischer facing familial crisis and the arrival of his estranged father (Mark Hamill) when the ghost of his booze-soaked past arrives: a murderous mobster (Iva Babić) hellbent on kidnapping Bert back to the motherland to atone for his crimes. Together, he and his father must retrace the steps of his younger self (Jimmy Tatro) in the midst of a war between a sociopathic crime family while they attempt to find common ground.

Just in case you need a refresher of what happened when Kreischer first came to Russia, you can check out the story here:

While Kreischer is going to be playing himself in the movie, there are certainly going to be a lot of more made-up elements in the film when it comes to Kreischer’s family life. In the movie, Kreischer has an estranged father, but in Kreischer’s stand-up act, he always has weird stories to tell about his old man and meeting up with him every now and again. Are we going to meet his wife and kids as well? Because Kreischer definitely gets a lot of material from his daughter Ila.

Watch out for The Machine when it comes to cinemas on May 25.

Ernie Hudson had a ‘Difficult’ Time Getting Over Ghostbusters https://www.geekfeed.com/ernie-hudson-couldnt-get-over-ghostbusters/ Tue, 21 Feb 2023 00:28:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73488 For years, Ernie Hudson has been known as Winston from Ghostbusters, and it’s hands down his most famous role.

With him set to come back in a future movie. Hudson reveals that he actually had a difficult time getting over working on the film, because of how much the studio mistreated him.

Talking to The Howard Stern Show, Hudson revealed that he was kind of pushed aside when it came to the marketing by the studio, with his character introduction pushed to half of the film and him not even appearing on the poster with the first three Ghostbusters. Hudson says:

“I’m so thankful to be part of the franchise, but it wasn’t an easy road—in fact, Ghostbusters, I would say, was probably the most difficult movie I ever did just from the psychological perspective… it probably took me 10, 20 years anyway to finally get sort of past that and just embrace the movie and enjoy the movie… Ghostbusters was really hard to make peace with.”

For now, it seems that Hudson is coming back to the sequel films after Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Though he was just a guy out for a job in the first movie, they’ve written Winston to be the most successful member after the Ghostbusters closed down, and the film ended with him buying back the firehouse, teasing a return of the sequel to New York.

We don’t know exactly the size of Winston’s role in the next movie, but it would be great if he had something better than a last-minute cameo and actually had a significant role in the story.

After the events in Oklahoma, the Ghostbusters team returns to where it all started; New York City! The Spengler family story continues with a new group of Ghostbusters led by Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) and Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd).

The sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to come out Dec. 20 this year.
