In a recent interview with GQ Magazine though, Glover has confirmed that he’s still in talks for returning as Lando, but the project will have to be the ‘right one’. Check this out:

In Solo, we meet Lando while he was still the captain of the Millennium Falcon, and by the end of the film, we get to see how Han swindles the ship out of Lando’s grasp (to be fair, Lando himself was also a swindler). You can check out their interaction here:

Though Solo did underperform in the box office, time has revealed that the failure of the film really wasn’t with the quality of the movie at all, but rather with the poor marketing, with Disney pitting the film against Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. A lot of fans online believe that the film would have done way better if Disney just allowed Lucasfilm to push it back to December of that year.

Either way, there is a #MakeSolo2Happen movement on Twitter, and there has been more love for the movie over time. Though I would love for Glover’s Lando to make a return, I was actually a bigger fan of Alden Ehrenreich’s take on a young Han Solo.

A Lando spinoff hasn’t gotten any updates from Lucasfilm, but you can check Glover out in Solo: A Star Wars Story now streaming on Disney+.

Ironheart Casts Han Solo Star Alden Ehrenreich https://www.geekfeed.com/ironheart-casts-han-solo-star-alden-ehrenreich/ Mon, 18 Jul 2022 07:56:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70086 Alden Ehrenreich may not be reprising Han Solo any time soon, but he is coming back under the Disney umbrella for something in the Marvel Universe.

Deadline reports that Ehrenreich as joined Disney+’s Ironheart series and has been cast in a ‘key role.’ While nothing official has been confirmed about Ehrenreich’s character, there are rumors going around that the main antagonist of the film is going to be the son of Obadiah Stane, who has kind of a grudge on Iron Man, seeing that Stane took Tony under his wing when Howard Stark died.

If you’ve watched Ehrenreich’s work in Hail, Caesar!, Solo, and Brave New World, you’ll know that he’s a pretty solid actor. I guess we haven’t really seen him stretch his muscles as a villain yet, so it would be great to see him actually take on that role in a future film. Let’s just hope that Disney+ doesn’t botch the character.

When it comes to recent Marvel villains, they have been more memorable when it comes to films, but now the Disney+ series are suffering from Forgettable Villain syndrome. Besides Ethan Hawke in Moon Knight and the Clandestines in Ms. Marvel, Disney has even managed to water down Kingpin who made his re-debut in the Hawkeye series.

Hopefully we get some more details on the series soon—especially with Dominique Thorne expected to make her Riri Williams debut in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Ironheart is yet to receive a release date, but you can catch Riri in the Black Panther sequel which hits theaters on Nov. 11.

John Williams will Provide the Theme for Obi-Wan Kenobi https://www.geekfeed.com/john-williams-will-provide-the-theme-for-obi-wan-kenobi/ Sun, 20 Feb 2022 18:20:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64152 Ludwig Göransson had created some memorable themes for Star Wars TV with shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, but it looks like Lucasfilm wants to bring back the OG SW maestro for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Variety reports that John Williams will be providing the theme for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Take note, Williams is only said to be providing the theme of the series; it’s very likely someone else will take over the main composer duties.

This isn’t the first time that Williams is just providing the theme for a project. Williams was also the one to provide the main theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story, but it was John Powell who took over the main job as the film’s composer.

We don’t know what the score for Obi-Wan will sound like yet, but I imagine that it’s going to sound a lot like the Force theme, seeing that he’s the character that introduces us to the Force in the very first Star Wars movie.

I’ll be honest, I am bummed that Obi-Wan Kenobi isn’t a big screen film, but if director Deborah Chow is confident in telling the story through a series, I’m going to wait and see what’s in store. Let’s just cross our fingers that the series has a constant focus all throughout; unlike The Book of Boba Fett which turned into The Mandalorian Season 3 toward the end of its run.

Catch Obi-Wan Kenobi when it hits Disney+ on May 25.

Maul/Crimson Dawn Series Allegedly in Development https://www.geekfeed.com/maul-crimson-dawn-series-allegedly-in-development/ Wed, 03 Nov 2021 16:38:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62224 The end of Solo: A Star Wars Story had teased the return of Darth Maul and his crime syndicate Crimson Dawn, but it looks like Lucasfilm isn’t pushing forward with a follow-up. Now a rumor is going around that the story of Maul is going to continue, but it’s going to be in a different medium.

As per Cinelinx, multiple sources have confirmed that an animated Star Wars series centered on Maul and his Crimson Dawn group is in the works. Nothing official has been announced on Lucasfilm’s part, but the report does say that the series will focus on events before Solo: A Star Wars Story, and it’s even possible that Paul Bettany would be reprising his role of Dryden Vos.

It was also rumoured that the show was originally conceived as live-action, but ever since the whole fiasco with Ray Park back in 2020, it would probably be best if they moved to the animated medium with Sam Witwer reprising the voice of Maul.

With The Book of Boba Fett giving us a look at the Star Wars underground world, it’s very likely that a series based on Maul could be a tad redundant. With Boba not being a Force user though, it’s very possible for the show to delve into Maul’s Sith origins or maybe expand our knowledge of the underworld before Jabba was taken out in Return of the Jedi.

Like I said, a Maul series hasn’t been officially announced, but you can watch out for The Book of Boba Fett when it hits Disney+ on Dec. 29.

Could Phoebe Waller-Bridge be the Next Lead of the Indiana Jones Franchise? https://www.geekfeed.com/could-phoebe-waller-bridge-be-the-next-lead-of-the-indiana-jones-franchise/ Mon, 13 Sep 2021 16:22:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61460 It seemed that the Indiana Jones franchise was setting Shia LaBeouf up to be the next lead in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but poor reception of the film led to those plans being cancelled. Now Lucasfilm is giving Indy one more go, and rumor has it that producer Kathleen Kennedy wants to shake things up when it comes to the new franchise lead.

As per Mail Online, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story), who is currently cast in Indiana Jones 5, could be set up to replace Harrison Ford as the new lead of Indiana Jones. Sources say that Kennedy plans to make ‘big, bold’ changes to the franchise, and it includes having the new lead be a woman. Another source claims, ‘It would be a huge statement, and a great role for Phoebe.’

With Tomb Raider and Jungle Cruise already giving us some spunky female archeologists, Lucasfilm has to find a way to give Waller-Bridge’s character her own charm that would make the character feel original. With Waller-Bridge having a penchant for playing very unique, outspoken characters, I hope she has some input in how her new character will be written.

Then again, we don’t know if Waller-Bridge is going to be the next lead yet. This is all just a rumor for now, and until Lucasfilm or Disney gives us some official details, that’s all we really have.

Catch Indiana Jones 5 when it comes out July 29, 2022.

Tributes Come Out to the Late Michael K. Williams https://www.geekfeed.com/tributes-come-out-to-the-late-michael-k-williams/ Tue, 07 Sep 2021 13:33:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61354 HBO has lost a powerhouse of a performer when reports came out that Michael K. Williams was found dead in his apartment last Monday. New York Post reports that Williams could have died of a suspected heroin overdose.

Tributes have started coming out for Williams online, seeing was a very raw and talented performer. Some have even likened the loss to that of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was a great actor, and had potential to bring more great performances before his untimely death.

As for Williams’ work, he was best known for his role of Omar Little in HBO’s The Wire. He had also brought to life old-timey gangster Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire. Williams had also landed roles in Lovecraft Country, Community, Inherent Vice, and 12 Years a Slave. He was also the original choice to play gangster Dryden Voss in Solo: A Star Wars Story before reshoots forced his role to be replaced with Paul Bettany.

HBO (via Variety) had this to say about the actors’ passing:

“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Michael Kenneth Williams, a member of the HBO family for more than 20 years. While the world is aware of his immense talents as an artist, we knew Michael as a dear friend who was beloved by all who had the privilege to work with him. We send our deepest condolences to his family for this immeasurable loss.”

If anything, Williams has managed to leave a legacy of solid roles from Omar in The Wire and Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire. You can check those shows out on HBO Max.

Emilia Clarke Wants to Reprise Qi’ra Role from Solo: A Star Wars Story https://www.geekfeed.com/emilia-clarke-wants-to-reprise-qira-role-from-solo-a-star-wars-story/ Thu, 24 Jun 2021 09:01:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60208 Though Emilia Clarke has signed on with Marvel Studios for Secret Invasion, she had already teamed up with Disney in the past for Solo: A Star Wars Story. With Clarke’s character Qi’ra not having a fully realized arc, Clarke has expressed that she would want to reprise the role for the future.

While promoting her upcoming comic Mother of Madness to THR, Clarke explains,“[Qi’ra’s] the one that has the most unfinished business… I really had pages about what her life was and what it would be afterwards.” Despite Clarke’s enthusiasm, she has confirmed that Disney hasn’t contacted her about reprising the role. She continues, But I’m afraid I’ve heard nothing of [Disney+] being the case, so maybe I’ll just write it and send it to them. I’ll be like, ‘Hey guys, I’ve got a few ideas.’”

In Solo, it was revealed that Han Solo had a childhood sweetheart named Qi’ra who had been sold to the gang Crimson Dawn. By the end of the film though, Qi’ra rises to the top of the ranks, but leaves Han to fend for himself.

With Solo underperforming in the box office, plans for a sequel were scrapped, but it was said that the Solo films would build up to a war between the crime syndicates. We would also get a conclusion between the arc of Qi’ra and Han.

Disney or Lucasfilm have no plans for a Solo sequel or series, but with growing fan appreciation for the film (and the #MakeSolo2Happen movement), there is hope that we could see more of Qi’ra, Han, and the other underworld Star Wars characters along the way.

For now, you can catch Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story now on Disney+.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Cast as Female Lead of Indiana Jones 5 https://www.geekfeed.com/phoebe-waller-bridge-cast-as-female-lead-of-indiana-jones-5/ Mon, 12 Apr 2021 14:15:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59064 Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge had acted alongside Alden Ehrenreich in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and now it looks like she’s going to be working with Lucasfilm again to act alongside the original Han Solo.

As per Deadline, Waller-Bridge has been cast in the next Indiana Jones film that will be directed by James Mangold. She will also be starring alongside Harrison Ford, who at the age of 78, is still set to come back as the world’s most interesting archeologist.

No details have been revealed about Waller-Bridge’s character, but hopefully this time we’ll actually get to see her face, as compared to Solo where she was covered in a mo-cap suit, playing the sassy droid L3-37.

While Kingdom of the Crystal Skull kind of teased the idea that Shia LaBeouf would be the new lead of the Indy franchise, the terrible reception of the movie is what lead to the idea being shelved. Now Lucasfilm is ready to bring Ford back (hopefully for the last time), and maybe this time it can either be the definitive end/or new beginning for the franchise.

Indy 5 is set to come out sometime in 2022, which seems like a release date too soon, counting that the industry is still slowly getting back on its feet from the pandemic. Then again, the film has been delayed multiple times already, and it’s very likely pre-production has wrapped for a while, just waiting for everything to get up and running.

Indiana Jones 5 is expected to come out in July 29, 2022.
