The film is led by Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey and is set to release next year. Though we don’t have a trailer yet, we do have some official photos via Entertainment Weekly. Check these out:

Though most of the movie’s plot is under wraps for now, Edwards does tell EW a bit about the approach of the movie, with them attempting to recapture the magic of the original Jurassic Park from Steven Spielberg. Edwards explains:

“I can’t speak for Universal, but it did feel like a new trilogy, in a way… I’m not sure what their plans are, but it felt like the beginning of a brand-new chapter in this franchise. To me, it’s a giant love letter to Steven Spielberg and his earlier films. There are moments in this movie that remind me very much of Jaws. It’s like little greatest hits of all those aspects of his films that I loved growing up as a child. It’s essentially a little adventure odyssey across this island, a survival story, really.”

Edwards goes on to explain that they actually shot a lot of the film on location, and they had to bring everyone into an actual jungle, with actual wild animals. He says, “We kept it quiet from the actors as they spent a whole day wading through the same area. And there were giant spiders that were poisonous and stuff on the edge of the trees. You just wouldn’t point them out if you saw them. Just keep going!”

After his work on The Creator, Edwards has solidified himself as a visual auteur around the same level of Neill Blomkamp. Admittedly, his last movie wasn’t the best when it came to plot, but fans are hopeful that Rebirth will manage to rejuvenate Edwards’ career moving forward.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is set to release in theaters on July 2, 2025.

Transformers One Hype Account is Going Viral for His Audacious Marketing https://www.geekfeed.com/transformers-one-hype-account-is-going-viral/ Fri, 11 Oct 2024 11:15:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84658 Transformers One is going down as one of the best-reviewed movies that no one is seeing in the box office, and while some are already admitting the film’s status as a flop, there is one little fan account that could that is making the movie go viral online.

@TFHypeGuy has been getting a lot of attention on the Twitter-sphere for their audacious takes in promoting Transformers One, even going so far as to make fun of other movies that have been getting poor reviews like Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie a Deux.

Their posts have been getting thousands of likes on Twitter, and they’ve even made fun of other artists that aren’t promoting a movie:

Not even former president Joe Biden is safe from his marketing tactics:

For now, it looks like the page’s goal is just to make sure that the film breaks even, ensuring a sequel. One of their requests is to have Paramount delay the film’s digital release until November at least—allowing for good word-of-mouth for the movie to spread—which it already is.

The Streamr has even gone so far as to write an article about him (but Paramount has yet to reach out):

We don’t know if hype alone from this account is enough to get butts in seats, but if The Substance and Joker 2 are considered to be too artsy for your tastes, maybe a Transformers movie would be the perfect time in the cinema. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry are great as Optimus Prime and Megatron, and it’s a great return to animation for a retro franchise like Transformers.

If it still needs to be said, Transformers One is now out in theatres.

Next Jurassic World Film Gets Official Title, Synopsis, and First Images https://www.geekfeed.com/next-jurassic-world-film-official-announcements/ Sat, 31 Aug 2024 19:45:07 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84060 Jurassic World Dominion may not have gotten the best critical reviews, but the movie still made a lot of bank, and Universal is looking to keep continuing the franchise moving forward.

Now they’ve officially revealed the title for the next film. Here’s the official announcement:

Just in case the tweet doesn’t load, the movie will be called Jurassic World Rebirth and it will be hitting theatres on July 2025. Here are also some official stills with new leads Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.

Though Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard won’t be making a return, the movie is still pretty much set in the same continuity as the rest of the Jurassic World films. The official synopsis (via Empire) reads:

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

“Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”

With Rogue One, Godzilla, and The Creator director Gareth Edwards at the helm, fans are expecting this Jurassic World movie to have a very interesting sense of scale. With Creator also pushing the boundary for CG, it’s going to be interesting to see just what kinds of visuals Edwards and his team can come up with when it comes to Rebirth.

I’m just hoping that screenwriter David Koepp has a great story for Rebirth. Edwards has never been strong when it comes to narrative, but at least with him at the helm, we know we’re going to be in for one hell of a visual feast.

Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long for the trailer.

Jurassic World Rebirth is set to hit theatres on July 2025.

Optimus and Megatron Join a Race in New Clip from Transformers One https://www.geekfeed.com/a-race-in-new-clip-from-transformers-one/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 14:16:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83931 The Transformers franchise may have blown up in the box office with the live-action movies, but Paramount is going back to form with an animated origin movie called Transformers One.

The movie is set to release in September, and we have a new clip which has Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) and D-16 (Megatron) joining a race filled with transformers. Check this out:

Based on the clip, it does look like the world of Cybertron has a class hierarchy, and Orion and D-16 are at the bottom of it as miners. Based on previous trailers it does look like the ability to transform with the robots is going to be a kind of privilege/rite-of-passage, that’s why so many people are amazed that the miners joined the race without even being able to transform.

With a call for a Cybertron-centric movie going around the fanbase for a while, Transformers One feels like it’s going to finally focus on the arc of solely the transformers as compared to previous movies where there has to be a human story shoehorned in.

Based on early reviews for the film, a lot of fans have been digging Transformers One, and this is sure to be a great entry for the franchise as more fans wait for the sequel to Rise of the Beasts. We haven’t gotten an update on that G.I. Joe crossover for a year, but hopefully One will be able to sustain interest in robots in disguise until Paramount is ready to drop an update.

Transformers One comes to cinemas on Sept. 20.

Optimus Prime and Megatron are Brothers in Latest Trailer for Transformers One https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-transformers-one-released/ Tue, 20 Aug 2024 07:24:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83791 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts may be setting up for a crossover with the G.I. Joe franchise, but while we wait for updates on that, Paramount is going to be releasing an animated prequel called Transformers One.

The film is set to come out next month, and we have a new trailer showcasing the brotherhood and eventual rivalry of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Check this out:

With the human element of the Transformers movies usually considered to be the weakest part, this animated film looks to do away with the human element and finally give fans a full story set in the world of Cyberton.

Though it’s expected that this movie is going to be in its own timeline, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it so that this would also be taking place around the same timeline as Bumblebee. After all, the rebooted films have yet to tell the new origin of their Megatron.

Then again, the films have kind of become pretty jumbled with the continuity, so it’s probably best for Transformers One to just pave its own retelling of the Autobots/Decepticons story. So far, early reactions have been said to be great, and the live-action movies may have found a run for its money when it comes to storytelling quality.

TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.

Transformers One rolls out into theaters on Sept. 20.

Optimus and Megatron Attempt to Transform in New Clip from Animated Transformers One https://www.geekfeed.com/new-clip-from-animated-transformers-one/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 11:29:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83333 Transformers may not be as huge a franchise as compared to when Michael Bay was directing the movies, but it looks like Paramount is going back to basics with the animated film Transformers One.

Thanks to the Kids’ Choice Awards, we have a new clip from the movie, and it reveals Optimus, Megatron, Arcee, and Bumblebee transforming for the first time. Check this out:

It’s unclear exactly how the lore works in the Transformers franchise, but it looks like the robots didn’t have the ability to turn into vehicles in the first place, and we get to see them do that for the first time here.

When it comes to the live-action movies, there have been fans who have been calling for just a cybertron-set movie with no human characters, and it looks like Transformers One is going to attempt to scratch that itch.

I have to admit, I preferred that the keep to the aesthetic of the new timeline established by Bumblebee, but I am willing to give a chance to this new G1-inspired look for Optimus and the rest.

With no hints at Megatron returning in live-action, I would very much love to see his drama with Optimus play out in some way, and these animated movies could be the best place for one of pop-culture’s most iconic rivalries.

TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.

Watch out for Transformers One when it releases in theaters on September 20.

Captain America: Brave New World Will Make Jewish Hero Sabra a Former Black Widow https://www.geekfeed.com/brave-new-world-turns-sabra-a-former-black-widow/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 11:25:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83306 Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow was a major player in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and though she won’t be in Brave New World, the Black Widow organization has found a way to be included in the story.

As per @cosmic_marvel, the rewrite of the character Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra (Shira Haas) has revealed that she is going to be a former Black Widow. The official description reads:

“A former Black Widow, Ruth is now a high-ranking U.S. government official who has the trust of President Ross.“

In the comics, Sabra was a mutant who was hired by the Israeli government to be a super soldier and intelligence agent. Besides the usual invulnerability/strength powers, Sabra was also said to have the ability to transfer her life essence to other people; but doing so, she gets weaker. She’ll have to take the powers back personally to get back to her full potential.

Admittedly, the movie is getting some ire from fans online because of the character of Sabra being a Zionist and the actress being Israeli. It’s no secret that Israel/Palestine conflict has become a very huge issue online, and the inclusion of an Israeli hero has is leading others to boycott the movie until the character is removed.

On the other hand, it’s been said that the Sabra character won’t even be called that, and with the origin change, she could very well just be another secret agent type—a Black Widow, but one that’s loyal to Ross.

With Falcon and the Winter Soldier not being shy about addressing real-world politics though, everyone is sure that the inclusion of a character like Sabra is not something Marvel is taking lightly.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see till the film comes out to find out how Sabra is dealt with.

Catch Captain America: Brave New World when it releases in theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.

Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield Star in Trailer for A24’s We Live in Time https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-pugh-in-trailer-for-a24s-we-live-in-time/ Sat, 13 Jul 2024 09:48:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83265 Black Widow Scarlett Johansson had already starred in a drama with a tall franchise leading man in Marriage Story, and now her successor of the BW mantle Florence Pugh is also going that route with A24’s We Live in Time.

The movie is set to come out this fall, and the first trailer just dropped. Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis:

An up-and-coming chef and a recent divorcée find their lives forever changed when a chance encounter brings them together, in a decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.

The film’s director John Crowley is best known for his work on the film Brooklyn which came out way back in 2015. Funny thing about that movie is that it stars Saoirse Ronan—who plays Pugh’s sister in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.

No doubt Pugh and Garfield are massive talents and getting them together for a project is definitely going to draw some eyes. It’s funny that the movie should bring together two spider-themed Marvel characters. A lot of people online are already making fun of how the movie is going to be the second time we get to watch Garfield see his blonde lover die.

Either way, the film looks fantastic, and if we can get a performance on par with Johansson in Marriage Story from Pugh, then the Black Widow mantle will mean more than just ‘severely underutilized actress in Marvel Universe’.

We Live in Time is set to release in theatres on Oct. 17.

Scarlett Johansson Releases Statement After Her Voice was Copied for ChatGPT https://www.geekfeed.com/johansson-statement-after-voice-was-copied/ Sat, 25 May 2024 16:46:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82528 It’s no mystery that AI has been slowly finding its way into the “art” scene recently with AI being used to copy art style, voices, and even faces.

What’s interesting is, Scarlett Johansson, who had famously voiced an AI in her, has released a statement concerning OpenAI who has apparently copied her voice for ChatGPT without her permission. Check this out:

As it turns out, Sam Altman had approached Johansson last September to get her permission to use her voice for AI, which she refused. But even after she did, Altman still decided to add a voice that was considerably similar to Johansson and named it “Sky”.

While some can say that this could be coinsidental, Altman had also tweeted a single word “her” which attributed to the title of the movie Johansson was starring in where she played an AI voice.

With AI steadily advancing and being used by corporate figures as a means to replace actual artists, the discussion for the use of AI has been highly debated. Though it’s ideal that we keep using actual people to develop art, some think that AI is innevitable and should just find a way to regulate it rather than completely banning its use.

For now, “Sky” has been take down by Open AI, but Johansson adds to her statement:

In a time when we are all grappling with deepfakes and the protection of our own likeness, our own work, our own identities, I believe these are questions that deserve absolute clarity. I look forward to resolution in the form of transparency and the passage of appropriate legislation to help ensure that individual rights are protected.

Colman Domingo Being Eyed to Play Villain in Next Jurassic World Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/domingo-eyed-for-next-jurassic-world-movie/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 16:11:03 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81988 After The Creator, director Gareth Edwards was said to have signed on to direct the next Jurassic World film, and stars like Scarlett Johansson were said to have been attached. Now it looks like the cast is getting rounded out.

According to insider Daniel RPK (via @HollywoodHandle), Colman Domingo (Euphoria, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) is being eyed to play the main antagonist of what is being dubbed as Jurassic City. We don’t have any details on what his role could be, but if we’re keeping to the themes of the franchise, it will probably have something to do with a scientist who is in over their head trying to achieve some kind of immoral goal with the dinosaurs.

Funnily enough, after playing Unicron for the Transformers, Domingo is also said to have been eyed to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU. We don’t know how far that deal has gone, Domingo has been getting more attention recently, and all he really needs is a role in the spotlight to solidify his name as a strong talent.

Who knows, maybe a starring role as the antagonist of the next Jurassic movie could make Marvel’s mind up on taking him on as Kang. Then again, it will have to depend on how great the part is.

We don’t know much about the next Jurassic movie, but hopefully it will bring us back to this new alternate reality where dinosaurs have been released on the Earth, and humans will have to find a way to co-exist peacefully.

The next Jurassic World movie is said to be aiming for a release on July 2, 2025.

Fly Me to The Moon: Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum Must Sell the Moon Landing in New Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/fly-me-to-the-moon-johansson-and-tatum/ Fri, 12 Apr 2024 10:52:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81869 There have been several biopics and documentaries about the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, but there have also been a number of films all about how the US was actually trying to fake it just in case they failed. Now Love, Simon director Greg Berlanti is going to have his own take on the historic event with the star power of Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson.

Check out the first trailer for Fly Me to the Moon:

Here’s the official description:

Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, FLY ME TO THE MOON is a sharp, stylish comedy-drama set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins…

Culturally, there are several rumors about how the Moon Landing was pulled off, so it’s no mystery that there are multiple films tackling what and what could’ve happened. One infamous rumor is that they got Stanley Kubrick (2001: A Space Odyssey) to fake the Moon Landing, and that’s why Johansson’s character mentions him in the trailer.

It’s not clear how much of this is actually true to life, but I’m game for a silly story about the NASA marketing team who were tasked with getting the people to back a mission to go to the moon during the height of the Space Race.

Fly Me to the Moon lands in theaters on July 12.

Scarlett Johansson has been Offered to Lead the next Jurassic World Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/johansson-to-lead-the-next-jurassic-world-movie/ Mon, 18 Mar 2024 09:43:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81506 Marvel Studios star Scarlett Johansson seems to have slowed down ever since the release of Black Widow, but it’s possible she’s ready to jump back into the blockbuster franchise business.

According to The InSneider, Johansson is currently being offered the leading part of the next Jurassic World movie which will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Should Johansson be cast, she would be following the footsteps of another Marvel star, Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) who was the male lead of the last three Jurassic films. I guess Bryce Dallas Howard was also in a Spider-Man film at one point, but that was way before the MCU was even a thing.

No official story has been revealed for the next Jurassic World movie, but it is expected to take place around the same continuity as the rest of the Jurassic films. So we should expect dinosaurs to have been roaming the earth again for a while. The story could possibly go several ways, but hopefully they have an interesting new entrypoint to tackle the narrative if they’re going to launch a new trilogy.

Personally, I thought that the Jurassic World films were fine. It was odd that Dominion focused mostly on these weird super-locusts, but I thought the idea of having the dinosaurs escape the park and once again make their place on the planet was a pretty inspired decision. I guess I was just hoping to see more of how the humans were going to be dealing with T-rexs just walking around.

The next Jurassic World movie is aiming for a release on July 2, 2025.

Asteroid City: How Wes Anderson Built a Small Town for the Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/asteroid-city-a-small-town-built-for-the-movie/ Sat, 24 Jun 2023 17:24:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77417 June has a lot of huge blockbusters with films like Transformers and The Flash, but if none of that is to your preference, you can always check out the upcoming movie from modern auteur Wes Anderson called Asteroid City.

Anderson and his team actually built a huge set for the town, and thanks to Kodak, we have an in-depth look at just how everything was put together. Check this out:

Though Wes Anderson’s style has always been apparent with his movies, it looks like his most recent films have been the one to get more and more stylish, with Asteroid City taking place completely in a huge set.

Like any piece of Anderson’s work, the set does look interesting, and with all the symmetry and colors popping, you can bet that the movie is going to provide some much-needed respite from all the big comic book films that have been coming out during the month of June.

Despite the critical praise for The French Dispatch, a lot of fans considered it to be one of the harder Anderson movies to swallow. Hopefully Asteroid City will offer that mass appeal that will bring in a much wider audience.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

Asteroid City is set to release in theaters on June 16.

Watch 3 New Clips from Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City https://www.geekfeed.com/3-new-clips-from-wes-andersons-asteroid-city/ Wed, 24 May 2023 14:46:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76918 It was back in 2021 when Wes Anderson released The French Dispatch, and now the cinematic auteur is ready to take on what looks to be a sci-fi story with Asteroid City. The film is set to release next month, and we have a couple of clips that give us a good feel of the movie.

Check these out:

We can’t really piece together the whole story of the movie with the clips, but it does look like the characters will be forced to quarantine in the location of Asteroid City. Like any Wes Anderson movie, each character is also their own particular kind of kooky, and we have some interesting interactions between them with from Jason Schwartzman being a photographer, to Scarlett Johansson being a famous actress.

After the release of French Dispatch, it does look like Anderson is pushing the boundaries of his visual style. So far, it doesn’t seem like Asteroid City was as extensive as FD, but I’m still excited to see what kind of story Anderson is looking to tell.

Here’s the official synopsis:

ASTEROID CITY takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. Synopsis: The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

Avengers Stars Secretly Visited Jeremy Renner After His New Year Accident https://www.geekfeed.com/avengers-stars-secretly-visited-jeremy-renner/ Thu, 11 May 2023 15:35:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76731 2023 had started with the news that Avengers star Jeremy Renner had gotten into a near-fatal accident, but months later, Renner is up and kicking, talking about his near-death experience.

While everyone was worried about Renner online, Variety reveals that his Avengers co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans actually made a low-key visit to Renner in the hospital after his accident. Johansson says:

“I was honestly so fucking happy to see him. I didn’t know if I was ever going to see him again… To not only see him again but to see him thriving and in such an amazing space, mentally. He’s a very spiritual person in general and a very soulful person. And you can see that in his work. It comes through. He has such a depth to him. And I just was so happy to see that he is full of life and light, and he’s also hilarious. We laughed a lot.”

Evans also shared, “No tears at all. A lot of laughs and smiles and hugs… Leave it to Jeremy to take something this potentially tragic and turn it into something so inspiring.”

Back in the New Year, Renner got into an accident saving his nephew who was stuck in a snowdrift, and it resulted to him being crushed by a 7-ton snowplow, breaking more than 30 bones in his body.

We don’t know the long-term effects of Renner’s injuries, but it surely is lucky that his Hawkeye character is already pretty much retired in the MCU. That doesn’t mean fans aren’t expecting him to make an appearance in a Marvel project down the line though.

For now, you can catch Renner in Hawkeye now streaming on Disney+.

Wes Anderson Tackles Sci-Fi in New Trailer for Asteroid City https://www.geekfeed.com/wes-anderson-tackles-sci-fi-in-asteroid-city/ Sat, 01 Apr 2023 17:25:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76088 Modern cinematic auteur Wes Anderson had released his last film The French Dispatch back in 2021, and now he’s ready to tackle a science-fiction story with his upcoming film Asteroid City.

Just in, we have a new star-studded trailer which includes the likes of Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Maya Hawke, and Jason Shcwartzman. Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis:

ASTEROID CITY takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. Synopsis: The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

Admittedly, the trailer only focuses on a handful of stars in the film like Schwartzman, Johansson, and Hanks, but the credits list include several veterans of Anderson’s work including Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Tilda Swinton, and Jeffrey Wright; of course, we also have some new collaborators like Maya Hawke, Sophia Lillis, and Steve Carrell.

Like Christopher Nolan or Edgar Wright, Anderson is one of the few directors that manage to turn heads on a project just because he’s attached to the helm. With Marvel and other blockbusters currently dominating the market, it’s great that this year we’re going to be getting a new story from Anderson—and this time leaning into his version of science fiction–something he’s barely touched on before.

Asteroid City comes to theaters on June 16.

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson Reunite for Project Artemis https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-evans-and-scarlett-johansson-reunite-for-project-artemis/ Mon, 04 Apr 2022 16:26:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64701 Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson may have ended their MCU runs with Avengers: Endgame, but the two are set to reunite for an upcoming movie on Apple TV+.

Deadline reports that the two former Avengers will be re-teaming for a movie called Project Artemis which is said to be a period piece set around the time of the space race. Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, Ozark) is set to direct the film, and he’s working on a script that comes from Rose Gilroy.

Besides the detail about the space race, we don’t know much about the film, but we do know that Evans and Johansson are two major A-list stars who will certainly be a draw for this movie. I guess I’m curious about Bateman taking the director’s chair; though he has directed some episodes of Ozark, he doesn’t have that much under his belt when it comes to feature films.

Until we get a better look at this movie, all we can really do is guess. If anything, Evans and Johansson have managed to find themselves attached to some critically acclaimed projects; Evans with Knives Out and Don’t Look Up, and Johansson with Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. With the two A-list stars coming back for Project Artemis, you can bet that the script is probably good enough for both of them to say yes.

No release date has been set for Project Artemis yet, but you can watch out for it on Apple TV+.

Disney Settles ScarJo Lawsuit and Pushes Forward with New Project https://www.geekfeed.com/disney-settles-scarjo-lawsuit-with-new-project/ Fri, 01 Oct 2021 15:45:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61760 Back in July, news had come out that Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson was suing Disney for breach of contract over the release of BW on their streaming service. Everyone thought that this would be a monumental case for the industry as a whole, and news has come out that the dust has settled between ScarJo and the House of Mouse.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Disney and Johansson have reached a settlement, but the terms of the deal were not disclosed. Johansson said in a statetment:

“I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney… I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.”

Though some had thought that this lawsuit would definitively end Johansson’s work with Disney pushing forward, it has been revealed that she would be continuing her work with the media giant. Disney Studios chairman Alan Bergman said:

“I’m very pleased that we have been able to come to a mutual agreement with Scarlett Johansson regarding Black Widow. We appreciate her contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror.”

Though I would have loved to know the details of the settlement, I think Johansson’s willingness to keep working with the studio speaks a lot about the deal. Hopefully they find some new protocol when it comes to the Disney+ releases to avoid any more legal kerfuffles.

Shang-Chi’s Box Office could Result to the Delay of Eternals https://www.geekfeed.com/shang-chis-box-office-could-result-to-the-delay-of-eternals/ Thu, 26 Aug 2021 12:39:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61176 Ever since vaccines started rolling out, people thought that they could be ready to get back to theaters by the end of the year, but thanks to some anti-vaxx thinkers, the spread of a new variant has opted for big studios to rethink their releases once more. Though Eternals looked like it was going to make its November release date, it’s likely there could be another delay.

Vulture reports that sources have claimed that there is a chance that Eternals could be delayed; and it’s dependent on the box office run of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Should the movie underperform next month, Disney could reconsider the Eternals release. After the fiasco with Scarlett Johansson and Black Widow, you would think that they want to avoid any more drama when it comes to their incoming slate.

At this point, several studios are taking a second look at their upcoming releases. Venom: Let There be Carnage has been pushed back to January of 2022, and some think it could be the same for Spider-Man: No Way Home. For the movies coming out on HBO Max and theaters on the same day (like Denis Villenueve’s Dune), things could still be on track.

For now, all we can really do is wait and see how Shang-Chi performs. If a delay isn’t in the books for Eternals, maybe Disney can make a point to  renegotiate contracts with actors, so as not to upset them like they did with ScarJo.

Eternals is still set to come out on Nov. 5. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on Sept. 3.

Elizabeth Olsen Backs Scarlett Johansson in Disney Lawsuit https://www.geekfeed.com/elizabeth-olsen-backs-scarlett-johansson-in-disney-lawsuit/ Mon, 23 Aug 2021 08:30:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61141 After the success of WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen is on the track to be one of the major stars of the MCU, and though it’s likely that she would be obligated to stand by her employers (i.e., Disney), it looks like she is supporting her fellow MCU alum Scarlett Johansson in her fight against the Mouse House.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Olsen shares, “I’m worried about a bunch of things. Not worried on Scarlett’s behalf… I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘Good for you Scarlett.'”

For context, Johansson was said to have sued Disney over the release of Black Widow on Disney+, with Johansson’s deal saying she would earn a percentage of the box office earnings. With the film coming out for streaming, that means that a good chunk of the audience is taken away from theaters.

In regards to the earnings of Johansson, Olsen said, “… when it comes to actors and their earnings, I mean, that’s just, that’s just all contracts. So it’s either in the contract or it’s not.”

We don’t know how all of this is going to go down yet, but the general consensus online is to support Johansson. Even Marvel head Kevin Feige was said to have been displeased with how Disney handled the entire situation.

For now, fans wait for Olsen’s return as the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You can also catch her in Wandavision now available on Disney+.
