However, they do have the next best thing thanks to the Invincible franchise from Amazon Prime Video.

Check out the first look at Omni-Man voiced by J.K. Simmons:

The realms will tremble under the weight of the Viltrum Empire. Omni-Man approaches our timeline.

Anyone who’s seen Invincible will know that a lot of Omni-Man’s moves are drawn from scenes from the series; from him holding up a person to run through a train, to him squeezing a head open till it explodes. They even have him punching someone relentlessly to the ground—like he does with Invincible in the show.

I doubt they added the “Think, Mark, think!” meme to it though.

Besides the scenes from the show, we should expect Omni-Man to play just like Superman, what with his flight abilities and speed. It’s just a question of how the game is going to differentiate him from another upcoming hero Homelander (The Boys) who essentially has the same ‘evil Superman’ schtick. I guess the main difference is that Omni-Man actually is fighting for something other than himself, while Homelander is a crazy sociopath.

Omni-Man is expected to launch with the incoming Kombat Pack which is set to come out this November. Mortal Kombat 1 is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Negan and Maggie Team Up in Teaser for The Walking Dead Spinoff, Dead City https://www.geekfeed.com/teaser-for-the-walking-dead-spinoff-dead-city/ Mon, 08 May 2023 11:57:11 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76690 The main Walking Dead show may have ended, but that doesn’t mean AMC isn’t going to keep milking Robert Kirkman’s world of the undead.

The spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to release in June, and we have a new trailer featuring returning characters Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). Check this out:

The official synopsis reads:

Reunited and it feels so good… Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) are back together and are headed to (what is left of) New York City. Can they put their differences aside and learn to trust one another?

Admittedly, a lot of fans are confused at the concept of the Negan/Maggie team-up because it wasn’t really hinted at by the end of The Walking Dead, but the characters are still some of the most interesting to come out of the show, so I’m not really surprised that they would be paired up for some kind of buddy-cop dynamic in a post-apocalyptic zombie world.

Either way, I think some fans are just happy to come back to the world. With The Walking Dead having multiple spinoffs, it’s kind of amazing that the world can keep going so many places. Who knows, maybe Dead City manages to be the Better Call Saul of this franchise, but we’ll just have to wait and see until the premiere.

The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres on AMC and AMC+ on June 18.

Seth Rogen and Steven Yeun Star in Invincible Season 2 Update https://www.geekfeed.com/invincible-season-2-gets-new-update/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 15:43:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73094 Robert Kirkman’s Invincible premiered on Amazon Prime Video back in 2021, and since it’s been more than a year since its release, fans are wondering when we’re going to be seeing Mark Grayson back in the skies.

Thanks to Amazon, we have a new teaser, and it features the return of Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) with some meta update from Steven Yeun reprising Invincible. Check this out:

Welcome to Burger Mart! Enjoy a hot meal along with an update on Season 2 of INVINCIBLE. Featuring Steven Yeun as the voice of Invincible and Seth Rogen as the voice of Allen The Alien.

The first season had ended with the shocking reveal that Mark’s dad, Omni-Man, was actually an alien working toward the domination of Earth, and he ends up killing hundreds in his climactic battle with Mark.

Though the finale did have Omni-Man thinking about his family for once, I think the second season could do without him for a while. Then again, I wouldn’t expect him to be absent for the entire season, seeing that his relationship with Mark is also what kind of makes the series interesting. I’m just curious what kind of story we should expect for the next season; hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for a proper teaser.

No specific release date has been announced for invincible Season 2, but you can watch out for the premiere on Amazon Prime Video sometime later this year. In the meantime, you can check out the complete first season now streaming.

Nicolas Cage is Dracula in First Poster for Renfield https://www.geekfeed.com/nicolas-cage-is-dracula-in-renfield/ Fri, 18 Nov 2022 05:01:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72055 Nicolas Cage has had several iconic roles before, but soon we’ll get to see him as one of cinema’s most iconic horror figures, Count Dracula. Cage is set to play Dracula in the upcoming Renfield movie, and though we’ve yet to get a trailer, we do have our first poster.

Check this out:

For those who don’t know the original lore of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Renfield is Dracula’s human servant who was thought to have gone crazy, but is actually just being cursed by Dracula to do his bidding. A synopsis for the movie reads:

R.M. Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) decides to leave his centuries-long line of work as a henchman and familiar to Count Dracula (Nicolas Cage) and finds a new lease on life in modern day New Orleans when he falls in love with a feisty but perennially aggressive traffic cop named Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).

Talking to Variety’s podcast (via Yahoo!), Cage had actually revealed that Renfield is going to be a comedy. He says, “What makes it super fun is that it’s a comedy… And when you get that tone right — comedy and horror — like ‘American Werewolf in London,’ it’s a blast. It’s got to be a bulls-eye. But that’s what I’m looking for, something new to bring to the character, and also that perfect tone of comedy and horror.”

No doubt, Cage is always a treat to watch onscreen, whether you think he’s good or bad; and I’m excited to see what he has to bring to the screen when it comes to a character like Dracula.

Renfield is slated for a release on April 14, 2023.
