Rachel Brosnahan – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Fri, 28 Jun 2024 14:48:59 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Rachel Brosnahan – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Superman Set Photos Now Reveal David Corenswet’s Clark Kent https://www.geekfeed.com/superman-set-photos-reveal-corenswets-clark-kent/ Fri, 28 Jun 2024 14:48:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83074 The internet has recently been flooded with set photos of David Corenswet in his Man of Steel outfit for Superman, but a lot of fans have been curious about what his other disguise is going to look like in the movie i.e., his Clark Kent persona.

Check him out:

What’s great is, there’s also a video of Corenswet acting as Clark, and we get to see him just be a bull in a china shop as he clumsily tries to navigate a crowd of people:

With Superman usually being portrayed as a sturdy, invincible figure, it has been a storytelling tradition to have the Clark Kent persona be a bit more clumsy in order to keep everyone off the scent of Clark’s alter ego.

Oddly enough, Zack Snyder’s version of Clark Kent was still pretty serious and he pretty much kept the same hairstyle as Superman; but I do appreciate that James Gunn is going back to one of the core personalities of the character that we haven’t seen on the big screen in a while.

With a look at Clark in the movie, I’m now excited to see the rest of the characters of the Daily Planet. If Batman has his Bat-Family, the characters that make up the Daily Planet are Clark’s version of his work family, what with Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White.

It’s only a matter of time before we get to see just how Rachel Brosnahan brings her Lois to life.

Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.

Superman Set Photos Offer Better Look at David Corenswet’s Man of Steel (and More) https://www.geekfeed.com/david-corenswets-superman-images-revealed/ Wed, 26 Jun 2024 10:11:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83059 DC has been very sparing when it came to reveals of the new Superman from James Gunn, but with a recent wave of set photos hitting the internet, we have a better look at David Corenswet in his Man of Steel get-up.

Check these out (via JustJared):

Set photos have also been revealed of Rachel Brosnahan in costume as Lois Lane:

https://twitter.com/DCFilmNews/status/1805397029826576773

Besides Superman, the movie will also be featuring other established superheroes in DC. We don’t have images of Hawkgirl or Green Lantern, but we do have a look at Mister Terrific played by Edi Gathegi:

Going back to Superman, we can see just how brightly colored the outfit is in the sunlight. Not only does he have the signature trunks, but he’s also sporting the yellow belt as well. One particular element they also kept from the classic Superman designs is that he has the yellow shield on the back of the cape.

We don’t know how James Gunn plans to introduce this Superman to the big screen and his rebooted DCU, but it does look like he’s going to be running into a bunch of other heroes who could help him establish his role as a superhero.

With Zack Snyder’s incredibly serious take on the Man of Steel, it’s said that Corenswet’s Superman is going to be the more positive ‘beacon of hope’ that the character has always been throughout his comic book run.

Let’s just hope that Gunn’s passion for the project shines through and we get a completely original new take on Superman when he flies into theatres on July 11, 2025.

James Gunn’s Superman to Have a ‘90s Mullet? https://www.geekfeed.com/james-gunns-superman-to-have-a-90s-mullet/ Mon, 18 Mar 2024 10:17:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81512 We’ve had about three versions of a movie Superman, and all versions seem to have one core look that each design sticks pretty close to. Everyone is expecting James Gunn’s Man of Steel to have his own original look for Superman, and some are guessing he could have a radical change in appearance this time around.

According to insider Daniel RPK (via @Cquill97), there’s been a reason why Superman actor David Corenswet has been wearing a hat throughout all of the promotional Superman posts—it’s because his Superman is said to be sporting a mullet, a classic Man of Steel look from the 90s.

Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed, but with a new Superman incoming, everyone is wondering just how Gunn plans to make this one stand out from the previous movie versions of Superman.

So far, the most radical change in Superman was featured in Man of Steel, with Superman losing the trunks and not having the signature “S” hair curl. His suit was also given some more elements to further add to the alien origin of the suit, but so far, anyone can tell he’s the classic Superman with just a simple look.

Personally, I’m hoping that Gunn gives us something iconic; and it’s kind of an impossible task when everyone has an idea of what Superman should look like. Either way, I’m expecting not everyone is going to be happy with what we get, but that’s just part of every huge fandom.

Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for a reveal. Superman is set to soar into theaters on July 11, 2025.

Rachel Brosnahan Teases Her ‘Marvelous’ Lois Lane for Superman: Legacy https://www.geekfeed.com/rachel-brosnahan-teases-superman-legacy/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 09:31:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80619 With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 out of the way, James Gunn is now fully jumping into the DCU, and his first project is going to be his reboot of Superman with Superman: Legacy. Besides David Corenswet being cast as the Man of Steel, the film has also brought in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel lead Rachel Brosnahan to play Lois Lane.

We don’t know how Gunn is going to be treating Lois in his reboot, but Brosnahan does share some teases. Talking to ET, she was asked to give a few words to describe her Lois, Brosnahan went with, “Feisty. Dare I say, marvellous? And fiercely intelligent.”

Though the character of Lois Lane is considered to be the classic damsel in distress, modern incarnations of her have been rewritten to actually give her some more grit and have her stand beside Superman as an equally important character. Man of Steel has Lois being the one to discover Superman and his secret identity, and My Adventures with Superman frames Lois as the protagonist.

As for Brosnahan, she’s best known to be a spunky Jewish lady comic from the 1960s thanks to her role as Mrs. Maisel, but we don’t know how that will translate to a new character with Lois Lane. No doubt it’s also going to depend greatly on her chemistry with the new Superman, so we’ll just have to wait and see till Gunn gives us our first teaser—whenever that’s going to be.

In the same interview, Brosnahan also shared:

“I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far. Every single person involved with this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies and some of us grew up reading the comics…

“I feel like it’s being made with so much love. This Superman will have a sense of humour…we’re excited to both put our own spin on things but also honour the material we love so much.”

Superman: Legacy is expected to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

Nicholas Hoult to Play Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy https://www.geekfeed.com/hoult-to-play-lex-luthor-in-superman-legacy/ Wed, 22 Nov 2023 05:19:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79776 Nicholas Hoult may have played fan-favorite Hank McCoy/Beast in the latter X-Men movies, but he’s now set to make the jump to DC as one of the world’s most infamous villains.

According to Deadline, Hoult has joined the cast of Superman: Legacy as Lex Luthor a.k.a. Superman’s archnemesis. We don’t have much detailers about this new Luthor, but we do know that Hoult will be acting opposite David Corenswet who will be playing Superman and Rachel Brosnahan who was cast as Lois Lane.

Oddly enough, the actor had recently auditioned for DC heroes in the past losing The Batman to Robert Pattinson and Superman to Corenswet. Even so, a lot of fans are excited that Hoult got the role for Lex, seeing that he does know how to play a complicated villain thanks to his work on Hulu’s The Great.

The last people to play Luthor on the big screen have been Kevin Spacey way back in the ‘00s with Superman Returns and Jesse Eisenberg in the ‘10s with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Admittedly, not everyone was onboard for Eisenberg’s take of the character, but I was willing to see just how far his Lex went in the original plans—too bad we’re just never going to be able to see it happen.

As for Hoult, his version of Luthor will have to be depend on how Gunn wants to tackle the character. We know that Lex is always smart and conniving, but I would love it if Hoult managed to make the character fun to watch as well.

Catch Superman: Legacy when it releases in theaters on July 11, 2025.

GOTG Vol. 2 Kurt Russell Allegedly Being Eyed for Superman: Legacy https://www.geekfeed.com/russell-allegedly-being-eyed-for-superman-legacy/ Mon, 09 Oct 2023 14:35:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79080 James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy has already found its main stars, but everyone is still wondering who is going to be cast to fill out Superman’s corner of the DCU.

The film is still in pre-production, but a Reddit leak has come out claiming that they have seen concept art for the movie, and that the film is currently eyeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s villain Kurt Russell to play the part of Superman’s father, Jor-El; what’s more, Jor-El is being described to be huge—at least 7 ft. in height.

Though we should take this with a grain of salt, having Russell in the film doesn’t seem entirely impossible. After all, the part has been played before by very high-profile actors like Marlon Brando and Russell Crowe; a talent like Russell feels like a solid choice for the part. Besides, Gunn is no stranger to the idea of collaborating repeatedly with his friends; just ask Michael Rooker or Nathan Fillion.

Besides the concept art showcasing Russell as Jor-El, his costume is being described as sort of a mix between armor and fabric, with the armor bits being like a baby blue and the fabric being a crystal-y white. He has a blue House of El crest on his chest which glows, kind of like an LED.”

For now, it’s unclear just how Gunn will be approaching his new take on Superman, but with Guardians being an ode to misfits, I wonder how Gunn is going to tackle the story of an alien who is supposed to be the ‘ideal’ that humans were meant to strive for.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Superman: Legacy is set to release in theaters on July 11, 2025.

Possible Concept Art Leaked for Superman: Legacy https://www.geekfeed.com/possible-concept-art-leaked-for-superman-legacy/ Fri, 11 Aug 2023 14:55:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78202 Updates have been slow and steady for James Gunn’s Superman reboot, and we already have the lead roles in the form of Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) and David Corenswet (Clark Kent). The Superman: Legacy movie is probably deep in pre-production right now, and though it could be a while before we see anyone in costume, some alleged concept art has leaked online of the new look for the Man of Steel.

Check this out:

https://twitter.com/TaurooAldebaran/status/1689497247715606529

Take note, nothing official has been confirmed about the look for Legacy, but it definitely feels like it could be the costume that Gunn could go for. Though a lot of the elements look signature to the traditional appearance of Superman, the colors of the shield have been reversed to have a yellow ‘S’ on a red background—a design choice from Superman variant Calvin Ellis, who was said to be inspired by Barack Obama.

Besides Superman, the art also features other heroes like Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific. We don’t exactly know what kind of role they could have in DC, but it is said that Gunn is going to be putting his Superman in a world where other heroes already exist. I wouldn’t be surprised if this new up-and-coming Superman will have to be trained by other heroes to grow into the mantle of the OG superhero that Superman is known for.

Again, nothing official has been confirmed about this Legacy concept art, but seeing that it’s going to be a while before the film’s release, it’s the best fans can get in the meantime.

Superman: Legacy flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.

Superman: Legacy has Found Its Clark Kent and Lois Lane https://www.geekfeed.com/superman-legacy-has-its-clark-kent-and-lois-lane/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 15:58:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77517 After months of mourning the loss of Henry Cavill’s Superman and several fancastings, it looks like James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy has found its leads.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that after a very long search, Superman: Legacy has cast David Corenswet (Pearl) and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane respectively. We don’t have any official looks at the two yet, but Corenswet and Brosnahan were said to have beat out a short list which included Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney, Emma Mackey, and Phoebe Dynevor.

Admittedly, this will be Corensweats’ major break when it comes to his career, but Brosnahan, on the other hand, has already proven her mettle in the television side of entertainment, having won the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Mrs. Maisel.

We don’t know what how Gunn wants to interpret the famous comic book couple, but some believe that Lois Lane would be the source of more humor in the film now; unlike previous versions where her entire journalistic career is centered around how closely she worked with Superman.

With Superman and Lois cast, we should expect to hear about other supporting characters soon. We have yet to find a Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and Lex Luthor. And even though Nicholas Hoult may not have landed the role, some have been saying that he is being considered for the part of this film’s Lex Luthor.

Superman: Legacy is expected to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

Superman: Legacy Shortlist for Lois Lane Includes Sex Education and Mrs. Maisel Stars https://www.geekfeed.com/superman-legacy-shortlist-for-lois-lane/ Mon, 15 May 2023 14:29:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76789 We know that James Gunn is on the search for a new Superman, but there are also other characters that need casting, specifically in Clark Kent’s office of the Daily Planet. With Amy Adams delivering a very different Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s films, THR reveals which actresses are currently at the top of DC’s list to be the next Superman love interest.

For now, the Lois Lane shortlist includes, Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), and Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton). Though I can imagine each actress could fit well for the role, Brosnahan has been mentioned to have given an ‘outstanding’ audition for the part, but she is considered to be on the older side at 32; the movie is said to be aiming to tell the story of the Daily Planet crew with them being young 20-somethings.

With Superman being virtually unstoppable, the Lois Lane character is also usually written to be an unstoppable force in her own way. If you’ve watched Mrs. Maisel, you’ll know that Brosnahan knows how to play a character with that grit and spunk; which should be perfect for a new Lois Lane—not to mention she knows how to deliver jokes.

As for the other actresses, I’ve only ever seen them in more quiet roles compared to Midge Maisel, but I can imagine they would all crush the part—depending on how Gunn wants to form the character.

Superman: Legacy is set to release in cinemas on July 11, 2025.

Final Season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Gets Colorful New Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/final-season-of-mrs-maisel-gets-trailer/ Tue, 21 Mar 2023 17:24:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=75931 The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has managed to have a spectacular run on Amazon Prime Video, but the show is now set to end with its fifth and final season.

The series returns this April, and we have a new trailer showcasing Midge’s rise to stardom; as well as the success of Susie’s talent agency. Check this out:

While previous seasons have shown Midge and Susie go up an down the show business ladder, it looks like they’ve finally made it to the top, what with Midge landing some talk shows and Susie having to manage a lot more talent.

Of course, there’s always Midge’s oddball family, from the perfectionist elites the Weissmans to her penny-pinching ex-in-laws the Maisels. They may not be the easiest people to navigate according to Midge, but they are damn entertaining to watch.

Very rarely is there a comedy series that manages to exceed on all expectations, from the drama to the writing and stage direction. Not only does Mrs. Maisel have an interesting story about women empowerment, but it also delivers its story through such an artsy lens with the long takes, quickfire dialogue, and extensive blocking.

We don’t know what Amy Sherman-Palladino has planned next, but I’m sure the bar is going to be set high if it’s going to follow Mrs. Maisel. You think she can bully Netflix into making a GLOW movie?

Catch Season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel when it premieres April 14 on Amazon Prime Video.

Final Season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Gets Premiere Date https://www.geekfeed.com/final-season-of-mrs-maisel-gets-premiere-date/ Sun, 05 Mar 2023 14:50:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73582 The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel had come out way back in 2017, and has since been one of the best-reviewed shows on Amazon Prime Video. All good things must end though, and the final season of the series has announced its premiere date.

Watch the teaser here:

We don’t really have a look as to what to expect this season, but we should suspect that Midge would further her name in stand-up, with the rest of her dysfunctional family all pursuing their own personal goals.

If you haven’t checked out the series before, right now is definitely the time to start. Not only is Rachel Brosnahan a fantastic lead, but the cast which includes Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Tony Shalhoub, Kevin Pollak, and more are definitely great as their own quirky characters.

Not to mention the series has a lot of fantastic dialogue and camera work, all an ode to musicals and 1950s pop culture. I wonder what creator Amy Sherman-Palladino does next.

Here’s the series synopsis:

It’s 1958 Manhattan and Miriam “Midge” Maisel has everything she’s ever wanted: the perfect husband, kids, and an Upper West Side apartment. But when her life suddenly takes a turn and Midge must start over, she discovers a previously unknown talent, one that will take her all the way from the comedy clubs of Greenwich Village to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.

The final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel comes to Amazon Prime Video on April 14.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is Back in Teasers for Season 4 https://www.geekfeed.com/the-marvelous-mrs-maisel-is-back-in-teasers-for-season-4/ Fri, 03 Dec 2021 18:20:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62766 The last time we saw Midge Maisel was in 2019, and now Amazon is set to bring back their period comedy drama with the fourth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel which is set to come out in February 2022.

We have three new teasers, the first one focusing on Midge, with the next two focused on her kooky parents Abe and Rose, and her manager Susie. Watch these:

The season pretty much kicks off where the third season ended. After losing her deal with Shy Baldwin, Midge is once again the underdog, and has to find a way to change the system just so she can get back on the stage.

Though we started with seeing them at the top of their game, the elder Weissman now find themselves having to ask Midge for support, but the two are still focused on what “the people might say” in their own silly way.

As for Susie, she’s starting to branch out to other talent besides Midge, and we get to see her actually focus her hand on managing. We have a small look at Sophie Lennon, who we last saw hiring Susie to help her rebrand her act.

If you haven’t checked out The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel yet, the show is absolutely fabulous. Not only do we get fantastic writing, but the acting and cinematography are also topnotch. The show has absolutely no business being this good.

Catch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel when it returns for its fourth season on Feb. 18, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video.
