After Afterlife, we’re now gearing up for the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Just in, Sony has dropped two new trailers (the second being an international trailer), and they both go at the story in different ways. Here’s the one for the US release:

Admittedly the official trailer does seem to lean to heavily on fanservice and everyone recognizing Walter Peck and all the other nods; but the international trailer does lean in more on the spooky/comedy vibes of the franchise, and we get to see a lot more including Winston’s new Ghostbusters lab. Check it:

With Afterlife leaning in on a returning villain in the form of Gozer, this sequel does promise to introduce us to some new ghosts (and some we’ve met before). While the Ghostbusters simply trapped the ghosts in earlier films, this new one is now all about studying them and finding out a place where they can be stored.

It’s also worth noting that James Acaster’s look as the new technician strongly resembles that of the animated Egon Spengler from the cartoons, with the wacky blonde hair and gray suit. Harold Ramis himself may be gone, but at least they found a way to bring Egon back along with the rest of the original crew.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Watch out for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire when it comes out in theaters on March 21.

New Look at Bill Murray in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire https://www.geekfeed.com/new-look-at-bill-murray-in-ghostbusters-frozen-empire/ Thu, 21 Dec 2023 12:17:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80204 Fans though that Bill Murray was done with Ghostbusters for a while, but he still found time to come back to the last film Afterlife and now he’s also returning along with Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

It’s not entirely sure what Peter Venkman’s role in the new movie is going to be, but Empire does give us a new image of him in the film with Paul Rudd; and we also have a description from director Gil Kenan about where the story could go.

Here’s Murray with Rudd:

https://images.bauerhosting.com/empire/2023/12/ghostbusters-landscape-new.png?ar=16%3A9&fit=crop&crop=top&auto=format&w=992&q=80

We don’t have any specifics on this scene, but it does look like the ghost containment chamber behind Paul Rudd, which was teased to be in an alarming state by the end of Afterlife.

With the Spengler’s closing the book on Gozer in the first film, director Kenan is excited to introduce a bunch of newer things with Frozen Empire. He says, “Because the Spengler family story drove the narrative in Afterlife, bringing Gozer back to centre-stage was a natural way to close the book on the past… But we are now in the post-Gozerian era of the Ghostbusters saga, so that means we’re able to stretch out and create an entirely new mythology. And that’s thrilling as a storyteller, because there are all-new and terrifying stakes with fresh visual references to draw on.”

Though I do love that we’re back in the original Ghostbusters continuity, I am worried that the film could be relying too much on nostalgia to be great. Even the appearance of the original Ghostbusters in Afterlife started to feel too pander-y.

Hopefully with Frozen Empire, we get a new crew at the firehouse and some new monsters. How about some love from the animated series like Extreme Ghostbusters?

Hell will freeze over in New York when Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire comes to cinemas on March 29, 2024.

New York Gets Spooky Again in First Teaser for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire https://www.geekfeed.com/first-teaser-for-ghostbusters-frozen-empire/ Tue, 14 Nov 2023 15:56:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79557 After Ghostbusters (2016), Sony had decided to go the reboot/sequel route with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was better received by fans. Now the series is ready to come back to its New York roots with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Here’s the first teaser:

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Though the first movie had brought back classic villain Gozer, it does seem that the sequel is now going to be bringing back a new villain. We don’t know where exactly they come from, but it was teased in the last movie that the ghost containment unit in the fold firehouse was in danger.

Besides the returning faces from the first film, we also have confirmation that the original Ghostbusters will also be returning. We also have new characters played by Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt joining the fray.

I’ll admit, I thought Afterlife as a movie kind of took itself too seriously, and it seems like they’re doing the same thing with Frozen Empire. Hopefully, we still get some more comedy out of the film, and this is just for me personally, but it would be fun if they brought back some of the capitalist satire of the first films.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire comes to cinemas on March 29, 2024.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Gets Disney+ Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/ant-man-quantumania-gets-disney-release-date/ Mon, 01 May 2023 07:59:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76562 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may not have been the Phase 5 launch that Marvel expected, but it is what it is. If you missed out of the movie in theaters, you now have a chance to watch out for it on Disney+ in a few weeks.

As per the official announcement, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to streaming on May 17. Check out the trailer:

With the earlier previews for the film leaning hard on the trippy visuals, this Disney+ announcement is surprisingly sparing. With the recent allegations of Jonathan Majors though, I think it’s kind of funny that the reveal of Kang feels like an afterthought in this preview, and we barely get to see any of him.

I’ll admit, Quantumania kind of felt like a by-the-numbers Marvel film, and I kind of enjoyed how small the first two films felt. I guess fun of the Ant-Man movies is seeing just how creative Hank Pym and the rest could be when they shrink and grow things; but Quantumania kind of just dumps them in a sci-fi world where they have to fight a generic oppressor.

It’s unclear if this is going to be the final Ant-Man movie, but I still love the characters and I’m hoping to see more of Scott Lang in the future.

Ant-Man and the Wasp find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that pushes them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Kang Meets Scott in New Quantumania Clip https://www.geekfeed.com/kang-meets-scott-in-new-quantumania-clip/ Thu, 09 Feb 2023 17:16:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73324 Next week will see the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and a lot of fans are excited for the Avengers-level threat that is Kang the Conqueror. In a new clip from the movie, Kang hints at just how dangerous he is to Scott.

Check it out:

The conversation basically picks up after he asks Scott, “Have I killed you before?” Kang then hints that he’s fought so many Avengers all across the Multiverse that they ‘blur together after a while.’

With Thanos only going up the Avengers once in the timeline, it’s interesting that Marvel has found a villain that has fought the Avengers countless of times and is only showing up now because he’s stuck in a quantum prison.

We don’t know if the movie will actually feature Scott beating Kang, since he’s going to be showing up in the next Avengers film, but I’m definitely all in for the film explaining to us more of his origin and really emphasizing how much of a threat he is.

I guess if you want to do some homework before the movie comes out, you can always check out Loki on Disney+. The series pretty much explains the origin of Kang and his variants, and just how dangerous they can be when it comes to the flow of time. So even if Scott beats this one, there are going to be legions of Kang to watch out for—with each one more sinister than the last.

Ant-Man and the Wasp – Quantumania: Paul Rudd Shows Off Scott Lang’s Memoir https://www.geekfeed.com/quantumania-rudd-shows-off-scott-langs-memoir/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 11:57:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73253 Before Avengers: Endgame, Scott Lang was kind of just a small-time hero, but after the defeat of Thanos, it looks like he’s going to be a celebrity in the MCU alongside Hope Van Dyne. As it turns out, Scott in-universe had written a book about himself, and we have a new promo with Paul Rudd teasing Scott’s rise to fame.

Check this out:

If you follow the link here, you’ll be directed to the page of the actual book which is said to be releasing this September. The even credit Scott Lang as the author, and the official description has a quote from Bruce Banner. The description reads:

This is the incredible story of an ex-con turned world-saving Super Hero.

In Look Out for the Little Guy, Scott Lang shares with the world a bracingly honest account of his struggles and triumphs, from serving time to being a divorced dad to becoming Ant-Man and joining The Avengers. These are stories of epic battles won and lost, as this everyman turned Super Hero finally tells all—from the official account of what really happened between The Avengers and Thanos to how shrinking down to ant-size really feels to the challenges of balancing the roles of hero and dad.

Across his many adventures big and small, Scott has gathered the wisdom of countless amazing experiences into this, the first memoir from a real-life Avenger. Once you learn the unforgettable details of his epic journey, you won’t need to be reminded . . . to look out for the little guy.

“Introduces the man behind the hero, and the hero I call friend.”
—Bruce Banner, fellow Avenger

We don’t know how detailed the book will be, but it’s said to have a total of 256 pages. Since we can basically follow Scott Lang’s story with the Ant-Man films, it would be fun to read about Scott’s life before and after he got the suit.

Then again, since the book is kind of playing at the self-important authors, I have a feeling that we’re going to get some exaggerated stories about Scott and how he helped the Avengers bring everyone back.

Look Out for the Little Guy is set to come out on Sept. 5 later this year. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to cinemas on Feb. 17.

First Look at William Jackson Harper in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/william-jackson-harper-in-ant-man-quantumania/ Tue, 17 Jan 2023 11:29:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72941 It’s been a  while since it was announced that William Jackson Harper was joining the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and though we didn’t get a look at him in the trailer, a new image from Empire reveals his character named ‘Quaz’.

Check this out:

https://twitter.com/empiremagazine/status/1614987182766170112

We don’t know much about the character of Quaz yet, but Empire did write:

“What we do know about Quaz is that he’s a telepath – and he’s pictured here with Katy M. O’Brian’s Jentorra, a freedom fighter who’s railing against injustice felt by the teeming communities living in the minuscule metropolis.”

When Harper was first cast, a lot of fans thought he was going to be some version of Reed Richards (of the Fantastic Four), but with this confirmation, I guess he could be someone completely different. There is a Marvel character called Quasar, and his powers have something to do with Quantum energy, so maybe this could be a version of that character.

With Harper cast in the film, fans were hoping he got a more significant character to play, but I guess there’s no harm in making an obscure character entirely your own. That’s kind of what happened with the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, and now they’re the definitive version that the comics are drawing from.

Catch Harper in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it premieres in theaters Feb. 16.

The Kang Dynasty Rises in New Trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Tue, 10 Jan 2023 09:52:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72845 February will see the start of Marvel Phase 5 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and we have a new trailer that teases the next big Avengers villain, Kang the Conqueror.

Watch the trailer for Quantumania here:

While the first previews for Quantumania have only teased the potential of Jonathan Majors’ Kang, we see him going all out with his powers in this trailer, and we also get a good idea of the stakes in which Scott Lang is agreeing to work with him.

Though Doctor Strange is kind of the property that owns the kooky visuals in the MCU, the trailer does have some quantum insanity going on with Scott Lang multiplying into thousands of copies, enough to make an Ant-Man tower made of Ant-Men. We don’t know what other kind of visuals we can expect, but after the underwhelming ‘Multiverse of Madness’, I hope that Ant-Man leans in on the title of ‘Quantumania’.

Also, I think it’s worth mentioning that though he doesn’t talk, we also get a look at MODOK a.k.a. Darren Cross (Corey Stoll). I’m admittedly bummed Jim Carrey didn’t get the part, but I hope that Marvel keeps MODOK around to cause some chaos in the future.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Ant-Man and the Wasp find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that pushes them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Ant-Man 3 Toy Leak Gives Fans Look at MODOK https://www.geekfeed.com/ant-man-3-toy-leak-gives-fans-look-at-modok/ Wed, 30 Nov 2022 07:53:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72232 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania may be hyping up the clash with Kang the Conqueror, but the movie will also be giving us a live-action version of fan-favorite villain MODOK (Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing). The trailers have yet to reveal him, but thanks to a leak from FUnko Pop!, we have our best look at the character.

Check this out:

Since this is a Funko design, we should expect the live-action version to have some kind of changes, but so far I think the character looks a lot better than the leaks we’ve been getting months earlier. I guess they did get the metallic face right on the design, but I love the expression and grin that feels very classic MODOK.

The rumor is that MODOK is actually a mutated Darren Cross who has been transformed into a giant head with tiny limbs thanks to his first encounter with Ant-Man. I’ll admit, Cross is one of the more boring villains of the MCU, but with a little rewriting, maybe he can make for a fun MODOK. Who knows, by the end of the film, maybe MODOK can come back to the main reality and cause havoc there for Phase 5.

We don’t know when Marvel is going to give us our first look at the character, but hopefully we get a small clip of him in the next Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer—whenever they decide to drop it.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when it hits cinemas on Feb. 17, 2023.

Ant-Man 3: Kang Trapped in the Quantum Realm? https://www.geekfeed.com/ant-man-3-kang-trapped-in-the-quantum-realm/ Fri, 25 Nov 2022 15:16:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72171 We had a tease for Jonathan Majors’ Kang in Loki, but we get to see him take the villain spotlight in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Though Kang’s deal is hugely a mystery, we may have gotten one major plot point revealed for the character.

In a new issue from Empire (via The Direct), it’s been revealed that Kang has actually been trapped in the Quantum Realm, and it’s possible that he needs Scott’s help to get out. We don’t know exactly what Kang needs from Scott, but some guess that it will have something to do with MODOK who is also a classic Marvel villain making his appearance in the film.

The theory is, Kang’s time chair has been taken by MODOK, and Kang entrusts Scott to steal it back for him. Also, it’s been said that the part of MODOK is played by Corey Stoll, who was the primary antagonist in the first Ant-Man.

With Kang being the main villain of the next Avengers movie, it’s pretty curious why they decided to make him debut in a solo film—and in an Ant-Man movie of all properties. If you did your Loki research, this could just be one version of Kang that’s been trapped, and by the time the next Avengers comes in, we could be looking at a whole army of Kangs—each with their own special set of powers and abilities.

Then again, this is all just speculation on the fans’ end. Until the movie comes out, guessing will just have to do.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.

Kang Rises in New Trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/kang-rises-in-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Wed, 26 Oct 2022 08:52:05 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71732 Ant-Man has mostly kept his solo adventures grounded in Earth, but it’s time for him and his family to enter the Quantum Realm with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film is set to come out this February, and we finally have our first trailer featuring Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror.

Watch the new Antman trailer down here:

While both Ant-Man films had featured Scott Lang going on elaborate heists on Earth, this jump into the Quantum Realm feels a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy, with Lang and his family running into all kinds of kooky creatures (and Bill Murray).

Of course, the big bad of the movie also makes an appearance in the form of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. We don’t really know what his deal with Scott is, but there is a rumor going around that Kang will be forcing Scott to steal something for him—after all, heists are all about Scott’s thing for two films already, and it probably won’t feel like an Ant-Man movie without one.

One character we don’t get to see though, is MODOK, who is finally going to make his first live-action appearance in this film. It has been said that MODOK will be played by Corey Stoll in this film as a kind of rehash of his character from the first Ant-Man movie, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the actual film.

Leak Provides Closer Look at MODOK in Ant-Man https://www.geekfeed.com/leak-provides-closer-look-at-modok-in-ant-man/ Mon, 03 Oct 2022 14:28:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71382 We know that Kang the Conqueror will be front and center as the villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but word also has it that the film will introduce MCU fans to giant floating head the Mecanized Organism Designed Only for Killing a.k.a. MODOK. We have yet to get an official look at him in the film, but a leaked trailer may just have given us a peek.

Check this out:

This does line up with the rumors that this version of MODOK will be a robot with a metallic face, but it’s possible that the mask will unfold to reveal an actual giant face like the one from the comics. Rumor has it that MODOK will actually be Darren Cross the villain from the first Ant-Man, and it’s going to be revealed that he has become a giant head with tiny arms and legs—kind of a fitting origin MCU-wise, if you ask me.

We don’t know when Marvel is set to give us our first look at Quantumania, but rumors are going around that it will be sometime this month. With Marvel Studios currently gearing up for the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it could be fitting to drop a teaser for Ant-Man in the midst of all this Black Panther press in order to help boost hype for the MCU and any incoming projects.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to come to cinemas on Feb. 17, 2023.

She-Hulk will Allegedly Feature Jason Segel as Fantastic Four’s The Thing https://www.geekfeed.com/she-hulk-will-allegedly-feature-jason-segel/ Sun, 24 Jul 2022 02:19:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70188 After John Krasinski’s surprise cameo as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange 2, it seems like another sitcom star may be joining the MCU as a member of the Fantastic Four.

According to a rumor from The DisInsider (via OneTakeNews) How I Met Your Mother star Jason Segel has allegedly been cast as the MCU’s Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing. We don’t have that much details on the character, but it is rumoured that he’ll be making an appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Though there hasn’t been anything officially confirmed, a lot of fans think Segel is the perfect choice for the part. Besides his stature, Segel can perfectly play both confrontational and loveable—which is probably a characteristic we can expect from the ‘Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing.’ Plus, Segel has had a confrontation with the Hulk onscreen before:

While we should expect the Thing to be brought to life with CG, I would love it if Marvel went the Michael Chiklis route and gave him a prosthetic suit. But seeing as I don’t expect Segel to want to deal with the hassle, I think he would be completely fine just providing the voice and having someone else do the mo-cap. Who knows, maybe the Ben Grimm we meet in She-Hulk could be a pre-cosmic rays exposure version of the character?

After a great introduction of Ms. Marvel, I’m hoping for She-Hulk to bring someone different to the superhero genre. After Better Call Saul, we need some kind of new lawyer drama/comedy on TV.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on Disney+ on Aug. 17.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel Gets Release Date and Working Title https://www.geekfeed.com/ghostbusters-afterlife-sequel-gets-release-date/ Fri, 01 Jul 2022 07:03:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=68260 The Ghostbusters franchise may have stumbled back in 2016, but Afterlife was pretty well-received, and it’s lead to an introduction of an all-new Ghostbustin’ team. Though we haven’t had any update on the sequel since release, Sony has finally revealed just when Phoebe Spengler and he rest of the gang will be coming back to the big screen.

THR reports that the next Ghostbusters movie has been codenamed Firehouse, and it’s set to hit theaters December 20, 2023. Director Jason Reitman had this to say about the project:

“At the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ecto-1 is driving into Manhattan, returning to its home. And before anyone ever heard the title Afterlife, we called it Rust City. Which would not have made sense to anyone until they saw the movie. The code name for the next movie is ‘Firehouse.’”

There are just so many elements that make the Ghostbusters films what they are, and Afterlife didn’t really get that New York setting or that ‘getting-into-business’ vibe that the original had. With this sequel though, we are promised a return to the classic Ghostbusters HQ; and it’s possible that the Spenglers will try to make money out of all the ghostbustin’ equipment that they have in Egon’s farm.

Since we are back in the city, though, I hope that we get more involvement from vet actors Dan Aykroyd or Ernie Hudson. While it’s great that they appeared in Afterlife, it did feel kind of forced that they appeared mostly in the end. It would be great if they were more involved with the story this time around. At least, that’s what I think.

Bros: Billy Eichner Leads Gay Rom-Com in Latest Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/bros-billy-eichner-leads-gay-rom-com-in-latest-trailer/ Wed, 22 Jun 2022 11:27:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66590 Billy on the Street’s Billy Eichner is making the jump from his reality TV show to the big screen with the upcoming romantic comedy Bros. The film is set to hit theaters in October, and we have a new trailer for the unapologetically gay rom-com.

Watch the trailer for Bros here:

The official description reads:

Universal Pictures proudly presents the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.

From the ferocious comic mind of Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, 2019’s The Lion King, Difficult People, Impeachment: American Crime Story) and the hitmaking brilliance of filmmakers Nicholas Stoller (the Neighbors films, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Judd Apatow (The King of Staten Island, Trainwreck, The Big Sick), comes Bros, a smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about how hard it is to find another tolerable human being to go through life with.

Besides the focus on modern gay dating life, the movie looks to be going with a meta approach when it comes to the tropes associated with romantic comedies—only this time, the focus is on a couple of gay men. The humor feels pretty much like 2014’s They Came Together starring Paul Rudd and Amy Schumer, but maybe this time people will actually go and see it in theaters.

I always enjoy Eichner’s sharp comedy wit, and I’m pretty excited to see him actually lead a movie for once. Though I do miss his over-the-top outrage which we don’t see in the trailer, I think marketing is saving it for the actual movie.

Catch Bros when it comes to theaters on Oct. 28.

MODOK will Allegedly have a ‘Major Role’ in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/modok-will-allegedly-have-a-major-role-in-ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania/ Wed, 08 Dec 2021 09:24:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62830 It had been teased for a while that Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) will be the main antagonist of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but it looks like one more comic villain could be appearing in the film – MODOK.

As per The Direct, MODOK will be introduced in the film, and he’ll be playing a ‘major role.’ Though early rumors have suggested that Jim Carrey had been cast for the part, it looks like talks didn’t push through, and someone else will be taking control as the leader of AIM.

No new actor has been rumored/announced for MODOK, but maybe they can bring in Patton Oswalt, who already plays a fun version of him in his own animated Hulu series:

With Kang being hyped up as an MCU villain since the Loki finale, it’s curious what role MODOK has to play in the film.  It’s possible he could be a tertiary antagonist on the hunt for Pym’s technology, but it’s possible that he could also be on a path to get to Kang himself.

The Ant-Man solo films have been the ‘smallest’ movies in the MCU, and they don’t really bring as large a crowd as the Iron Man or Captain America films do; but the character has proven to be one of the most essential, with Scott Lang getting the idea to use the Quantum Realm to time travel, thus saving everyone in Endgame.

With Kang set as the main villain (and now MODOK rumored for a return), maybe Quantumania could be gearing up to be one of the biggest MCU films for Phase 4. Then again, that’s just wishful thinking on my part.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has Wrapped Filming https://www.geekfeed.com/ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania-has-wrapped-filming/ Wed, 24 Nov 2021 17:12:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62578 After meeting a version of Kang the Conqueror at the end of Loki, fans are ready to meet the real deal with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Good news is, the movie has officially wrapped, and it will be a matter of time before we get a look at our first teaser.

Here’s the Quantumania post from director Peyton Reed:

We don’t know if that’s a regular-sized Wasp riding on a Giant-Man or a small Wasp on a regular Ant-Man, but it should be a hint of what kind of action to expect in the film. While the size-changing gimmick makes for some fun heist mechanics, the Ant-Man films have also made for some creative action sequences.

With the Quantum Realm being accessed in Endgame, we’re only scratching the surface of what could be possible with the third film. Thanos was able to create so much mayhem just jumping into one point in the timeline, imagine how dangerous Kang would be, having complete mastery of time? And the only one to stop him is Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne?

How is this not an Avengers-level threat again?

Ant-Man has admittedly been the underdog of the MCU films, but with Kang being one of the more iconic villains from the comics, this could be a chance for Scott and Hope to prove themselves; and maybe even pass on the torch to one Cassie Lang.

Check out the new Afterlife clip down here:

Just like the original movie, the film looks to be embracing practical effects for some of the shots, but you can see some enhanced CG when the dog starts chasing Rudd’s character. We don’t know why it stops in front of him, but seeing as these dogs have very kooky personalities (like when they possessed Louis Tully) in the first movie, it’s likely “Vinz Clortho” is going to have a silly interaction with Rudd’s character.

After the poor reception of Ghostbusters (2016), Sony decided to go the Force Awakens route and give us a reboot/sequel. We don’t know where the films could go moving forward, but I am eager to see the original cast pass the torch to a younger team of Ghostbusters.

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife comes out on Nov. 19.

Bill Murray Confirms He’s in Ant-Man: Quantumania https://www.geekfeed.com/bill-murray-confirms-hes-in-ant-man-quantumania/ Wed, 27 Oct 2021 14:43:36 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62166 Paul Rudd has recently made a jump over to the Ghostbusters franchise with his appearance in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and now it looks like one Peter Venkman is now jumping over to Rudd’s corner of the MCU in the new Ant-Man: Quantumania.

Talking to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (via Cosmic Circus), Bill Murray confirmed he had worked on a Marvel project, saying, “You know, recently I made a Marvel movie. I probably won’t tell you, but never mind. In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him very much.”

While Murray doesn’t outright say the title, he does reveal the director when he continued, “He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director. And with the cheerleader story Bring It On he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good. So I agreed, although I’m not interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor otherwise.”

A little IMDb search, and you’ll find that the person who directed Bring It On is none other than Peyton Reed, who is currently directing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Murray could certainly get in trouble with Marvel for making that reveal, but that’s completely on brand for a character like him.

As for who Murray is playing, some think that he could be Scott Lang’s father. With Ant-Man essentially a sci-fi series, I’m guessing he could be another scientist maybe specializing on the Quantum Realm. If someone should play Lang’s father though, they should get Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Ghostbusters  star Rick Moranis for the role; it would be the perfect case of meta-casting.

Catch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when the film comes out July 28, 2023. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to come out on Nov. 10.

The Wasp was Originally Written as the Lead of The Avengers (2012) https://www.geekfeed.com/the-wasp-was-originally-written-as-the-lead-of-the-avengers-2012/ Fri, 22 Oct 2021 16:30:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62115 While the character itself is fine, the Wasp has only been playing second fiddle to Scott Lang ever since Ant-Man. What’s interesting is, the character was supposed to make her debut in the very first Avengers movie, and she was even written as the lead.

As per the book The Story of Marvel Studios (via /Film), the Wasp was written into The Avengers when it was a possibility that Scarlett Johansson wouldn’t be able to reprise the role of Black Widow due to scheduling conflicts. Producer Jeremy Latcham explains:

“It was all about The Wasp. He wanted to cast Zooey Deschanel. [Wasp] was the funniest character in the whole movie, and well-written.”

Avengers director (and now cancelled) Joss Whedon also said about the Wasp:

The Wasp happened because there was a short period where it looked like we weren’t going to be able to get Scarlett [due to scheduling conflicts], so I was panicking. I thought, ‘Hold on, we could do The Wasp.’ Then I fell in love with that. But we did get Scarlett, and then I realized I had written this entire movie about The Wasp. Oops. I overcompensated there.”

There isn’t any reveal on whether the Wasp would have been Janet or Hope, but I think Deschanel would have been a great choice to play the character, especially with how big she was getting around the 2010s. For now, Deschanel has sort of focused more on her TV career, but I have no doubt that she would have been a fantastic Avenger.

For now, Marvel Studios is setting up for the release of Eternals on Nov. 5. The Wasp returns in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which comes out July 28, 2023.
