Part II – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Mon, 23 Dec 2024 18:29:29 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Part II – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Matt Reeves on How Zoe Kravitz Came Up with One of His Favorite Moments in The Batman https://www.geekfeed.com/matt-reeves-favorite-moments-in-the-batman/ Mon, 23 Dec 2024 18:29:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85751 Zoe Kravitz may have been acting for Matt Reeves in The Batman, but now they’re talking as peers in a recent episode of Variety’s Directors on Directors.

It was inevitable that the two would end up talking about The Batman, and Reeves reveals that one of his favourite moments with Catwoman in the movie was actually something Kravitz came up with. Kravitz had apparently liked the line “I have a thing about strays,” but Reeves had no idea how to put it into the scene.

Reeves explains, “I was like, ‘I do love that idea, but i don’t know how we’ll ever get that line in,’ and you go, ‘oh, that’s so easy. You just have [Batman] look down at the cats and say, ‘You got a lot of cats.'”

Here’s the scene from the film:

It’s definitely a great character moment in the film, and a says so much about Selina’s motivation and why she was so protective of Annika in the movie. Admittedly just having Batman mention that she has a lot of cats so she could explain herself was a genius move when it came to the writing.

The last we saw of Selina in The Batman, she went off to find a new life in Bludhaven (where Nightwing operates), but she’s also set to make a return in The Batman Part II. The finale of The Penguin also has her reaching out to her half-sister Sofia Falcone in Arkham, so it’s possible fans would also get to see more of her down the line.

No release date has been set for The Batman Part II, but the movie is expecting to shoot sometime next year.

The Last of Us: Kaitlyn Dever Got Extra Security While Playing Abby https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-kaitlyn-dever-got-extra-security/ Thu, 22 Aug 2024 10:56:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83833 The first season of The Last of Us managed to get critical acclaim for how it adapted the first game, and the second season is ready to bring audiences to the world of TLOU Part II. With the second game infamous for garnering The Last Jedi-level of toxic reactions though, it looks like the production is keeping its eye out for the live-action version of Abby.

Talking to Happy Sad Confused podcast (via IGN), Isabela Merced (the live-action Dina) has confirmed that Kaitlyn Dever, who is playing Abby in the series, had to have extra security because the crew knew about the fandom’s toxicity toward Abby.

Merced explained, “There’s so many strange people in this world because there are people that actually genuinely hate Abby, who is not a real person. Just a reminder: Not a real person… Kaitlyn had to be extra secured by security when it came to the filming of this.”

For context, Laura Bailey, who had played Abby in the game, also faced severe harassment and death threats when The Last of Us Part II came out. Not to mention there was just waves of memes about how Abby was terrible and how everyone involved with the game didn’t understand the franchise.

So far, these toxic fans have mostly just been relegated to the internet, but you can never be too sure whether there would be a new Mark Chapman just waiting to avenge their favorite make-believe video game character.

We don’t know when HBO is ready to give us a new look at Season 2, but fans are hopeful we get another great season.

The Last of Us Season 2 is expected to premiere on Max sometime next year.

The Last of Us Season 2 Set Photos Reveal Jeffrey Wright as WLF Leader Isaac https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-season-2-set-photos-reveal-wright/ Wed, 29 May 2024 17:56:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82641 Jeffrey Wright had a small role in The Last of Us Part II as the WLF leader Isaac, and though we barely got to see him in the second game, he will be reprising the part for the second season of the HBO show.

Just in, we have some set photos, and it has Wright sporting some military gear. Check this out:

For context, Isaac is the leader of the Washington Liberation Front a.k.a. WLF—the faction that Abby belongs to. If you don’t know who Abby is, she’s considered the co-protagonist of the second game, and she has an arc that runs alongside Ellie’s.  Here’s a scene involving Isaac and Abby:

Seeing that the show has a tendency to expand on the stories of multiple side characters, it’s possible that we could be getting more on Isaac’s lor. Admittedly, he isn’t one of the more fleshed out characters in the game, but with the series, they could very much tell us his origin or what exactly he has planned with the clash between the WLF and the local cult which call themselves the Seraphites.

Interestingly enough, Wright is the second actor to reprise his role from the game to the series. Hopefully they give him something more to do here besides be a roadblock for Abby in the WLF beaurocracy.

The Last of Us Season 2 still has no release date, but you can probably catch it on Max sometime next year. In the meantime, you can catch the complete first season now streaming.

Kaitlyn Dever Officially Cast as Abby in The Last of Us Season 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/kaitlyn-dever-officially-cast-in-the-last-of-us/ Mon, 15 Jan 2024 10:41:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80549 Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) was the fan favorite choice to play Ellie in The Last of Us, but she ended up getting too old and Bella Ramsey got the role. Funnily enough, though Dever didn’t land Ellie, she did get someone who is pretty much her series nemesis.

As per Max, Dever has officially been cast in the second season of The Last of Us as Abby Anderson. Here’s the post:

We don’t know how much of Abby’s story is going to be covered in the second season, but I have a feeling that the show could very much just follow Abby’s story after the events of Joel’s massacre at the hospital and the build-up to her going to Jackson.

I honestly don’t want to spoil anything about the character in the series, but anyone who was online when the game dropped knows that Abby was pretty much the target of online vitriol that wasn’t unlike what Kelly Marie Tran was receiving after the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Already fans are hoping that Dever doesn’t receive any of that same backlash once she gets cast in the role, but I think the series is going to be telling a different approach when it comes to Abby’s story, and we could very much be on her side by the time she crosses Ellie’s path in the show.

No release date has been set for the second season of The Last of Us, but we can probably expect it sometime early 2025.

The Last of Us Online has been Cancelled by Naughty Dog https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-online-has-been-cancelled/ Mon, 18 Dec 2023 10:25:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80146 The Last of Us Part II was critically acclaimed when it came out, and with the first game having a multiplayer option Faction, fans thought that Part II would be coming out with their own version which was named The Last of Us Online.

A lot of fans thought that the official reveal would come after the recent announcement of the Part II remaster, but Naughty Dog has instead announced that they have made the difficult decision not to release a multiplayer mode for TLOU Part II. Their official post said:

“… In ramping up to full production, the massive scope of our ambition became clear. To release and support The Last of Us Online we’d have to put all our studio resources behind supporting post launch content for years to come, severely impacting development on future single-player games. So, we had two paths in front of us: become a solely live service games studio or continue to focus on single-player narrative games that have defined Naughty Dog’s heritage”

Seeing that it does take a lot of work to keep a multiplayer game going (i.e., Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant), it does make sense that Naughty Dog would have had to sacrifice a huge chunk of their entire development team to be able to just focus on the multiplayer element of the game.

If anything, The Last of Us franchise has more of shined when it comes to its deeply personal story, and it could end up being a tad lackluster for a multiplayer option that is more focused on unique characters and abilities.

Though TLOU Online didn’t push through, the Remastered version does have a new roguelike game mode that allows players to use different characters from the game with their kits enhanced to fit specific abilities. This was probably a leftover from the multiplayer version, but that’s just a guess on my part.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is set to launch for the PS5 on Jan. 19, 2024.

Watch Official Announcement Trailer for The Last of Us Part II Remastered https://www.geekfeed.com/trailer-for-the-last-of-us-part-ii-remastered/ Tue, 21 Nov 2023 16:30:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79756 The Last of Us Part II was one of the final games to come out on the PS4 before the PS5 launched, so it was only a matter of time before Naughty Dog would release a version of TLOU 2 for the new-gen. Just in, they’ve dropped an announce trailer for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and it promises more features than just the graphical upgrade.

Watch this:

Play the winner of over 300 Game of the Year awards, now remastered for the PlayStation®5 console. Experience for the first time or relive Ellie and Abby’s story with graphical enhancements, new gameplay modes like the roguelike survival experience No Return, full DualSense™ wireless controller integration, and more.

Fans know that this is basically the same game that came out back in 2020, but you can’t deny that the promise of a more graphically enhanced experience is going to draw interested people in. Not to mention we’re also going to have the chance to be able to play some ‘deleted scenes’ as well as get some new outfits for Ellie and Abby—including an astronaut outfit for Joel’s Baby Girl.

It’s also likely that some hardcore gamers will want to get their hands on the roguelike game mode—seeing that so many players have been flexing their impossible runs online. Hopefully we get more specifics when pre-orders launch next month.

Pre-orders for The Last of Us Part II Remastered stars this December, with the game officially launching for the PS5 on Jan. 19, 2024.

The Last of Us Part II’s Story will Take Multiple Seasons https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-part-iis-story-multiple-seasons/ Tue, 14 Mar 2023 11:37:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=74047 A lot of fans were speculating that the first season of The Last of Us wasn’t going to cover the events of the entire first game, but the finale ended where the game did. With fans now looking at a second season, showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have confirmed that Part II of the story will be a lot more different.

Talking to GQ, Druckmann and Mazin confirmed that The Last of Us Part II’s story will take place around multiple seasons. Here’s the exchange:

GQ: People are also speculating how Season 2 will encompass such a large game. Will the next season span the entire course of the second game?

Mazin: [shakes head] No. No way.

Druckmann: It’s more than one season.

GQ: Can you tell us if it’s two or three seasons?

Mazin: You have noted correctly that we will not say how many. But more than one is factually correct. [Laughs].

We don’t have any specific details as to where the second season will go and how much Part II will cover, but gamers know that the seeds have already been planted in the finale. Druckmann does continue to tease, Some of the stuff I’m most excited for [in Part 2] are the changes we’ve discussed and seeing the story come to life again in this other version. And I think it’s exciting because it leans into those feelings you had from the game, really heavily, in a new way.”

What’s amazing about the series was how it was able to introduce so many changes from the original game without making it unfaithful to the source material; like Sam being deaf and Bill’s entire arc. It’s unclear what kind of changes Druckmann wants to include, but I would love to know more about the origin of the Seraphites and maybe Abby’s dad.

The Last of Us Season 2 has no release date yet, but you can catch the completed first season now streaming on HBO Max.

Neil Druckmann Talks about Where The Last of Us Part III Could Go https://www.geekfeed.com/druckmann-talks-where-the-last-of-us-part-iii/ Sun, 29 Jan 2023 16:47:52 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73117 With The Last of Us Part II leaving the end open for Ellie, a lot of fans are wondering what we could expect with a third game. Though development is sure to be under wraps for the title, Neil Druckmann gives a very vague answer when it came to his update on Part III.

In a recent interview with BuzzFeed (via NaughtyDogCentral), Druckmann explains:

“… with The Last of Us, it’s up to us whether we want to continue it or not. Our process is the same thing we did when we did Part 2, which is if we can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love — just like the first and second game did — then we will tell that story. If we can’t come up with something, we have a very strong ending with Part 2 and that will be the end.”

With The Last of Us series on HBO Max being a huge hit, rumors have been flying around that a third game is already in development. While Druckmann’s answers make it feel like Part III hasn’t been greenlit yet, some are convinced that he’s actually being purposefully vague, since we’re still a few years away before the official announcement.

As far as story goes, I don’t think the franchise is going to end with the bleak world where the cordyceps have ruled over the Earth. If we’re just following arcs, I think the third game may actually have Ellie face the consequences of being immune, and we could get a story that finally leads to a cure.

Then again, I’m always up for stories that completely take me off guard. I’m hoping that Druckmann manages to keep the same level of emotional manipulation if The Last of Us Part III ever gets made.

For now, catch The Last of Us games now available for PlayStation. Watch out for The Last of Us series now streaming on HBO Max.

The Last of Us Part III Allegedly in Development https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-of-us-part-iii-allegedly-in-development/ Thu, 15 Dec 2022 15:29:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72489 With the release of The Last of Us Part II in 2020, a lot of fans are wondering what’s next for Naughty Dog. Sure they released the remastered The Last of Us Part I last month, but what’s next?

Well, rumor is going around that the studio is currently working on The Last of Us Part III. This comes from insider @ViewerAnon:

Since this is Elon Musk’s Twitter, we should take that news with a grain of salt, but with the Uncharted franchise finished, and Crash Bandicoot having been handed over to another studio, The Last of Us Part III does seem like the next step for ND.

We don’t know what the story could be about this time, but it’s very likely we’ll see the continuation of Ellie’s arc. With Joel gone and Ellie having the whole game to process his death, I’m suspecting the third game could finally deal with the humans finding a cure for the mushroom zombies.

Admittedly, there were was a lot of backlash with Part II, with some fans crying that the game had killed of Joel to ‘subvert expectations,’ but so far, it seems that the toxic voices have gone down. Thank god this isn’t a Star Wars game because we probably would never hear the end of it.

I’m just hoping that Naughty Dog leans in on their artistic instincts, rather than suddenly pander to what the audience wants—just like what happened with Star Wars.

The Last of Us Part III hasn’t been officially announced, but hopefully we can get something after the series premieres on Jan. 15, 2023.

Watch Launch Trailer for The Last of Us Part I https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-launch-trailer-for-the-last-of-us-part-i/ Mon, 29 Aug 2022 17:05:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70750 We may not have gotten confirmation for The Last of Us Part III yet, but Naughty Dog is set to deliver a full remake of The Last of Us Part I next month, with the aim to match the visuals with Part II.

The game is set to launch September 2nd for the PS5, and we have a new trailer showcasing all the updated graphics and cutscenes. Check this out:

Re-experience the game that set a new bar for single-player narrative storytelling with The Last of Us™ and explore a ravaged and hardened world, where every action has a brutal consequence for Joel and Ellie.

Winner of over 200 Game of The Year Awards, completely rebuilt for the PlayStation®5 console.

While standard remakes usually just up the graphics and tweak some controls here and there, The Last of Us Part I really elevates the standards when it comes to remaking a game that came out almost a decade ago. Though the game may be old, you have to admit, the storytelling and its integration of gameplay was on a completely different level that even beats out games that have come out today.

That being said, a lot of fans have been complaining about the hefty price tag, but with all the work put into this remake, a lot of fans think that the price seems fair. I guess we’ll have to wait until launch to see just what the general audience thinks.

The Last of Us Part I launches for the PS5 on Sept. 2. No release date has been set for the PC version, but it is confirmed to be in development.

First Photo from HBO’s The Last of Us Looks Like a Screenshot from the Game https://www.geekfeed.com/first-photo-from-hbos-the-last-of-us-looks-like-a-screenshot-from-the-game/ Tue, 28 Sep 2021 12:51:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61671 Though some Naughty Dog fans are still waiting for the announcement of The Last of Us Part III, HBO is collaborating with director Neill Druckmann for an adaptation of the game as a series. We don’t know when the show is set to come out, but we do get our first look at the show with Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

This was shared by Druckmann on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/Neil_Druckmann/status/1442292909798166528

While we don’t really get to see their faces, just the composition of the shot alone looks a lot like a screenshot from the game. We don’t really have a moment in The Last of Us where Ellie and Joel encounter a fallen plane, but it should be an interesting expansion to the story.

Though video game adaptations have failed in the past, HBO may be on to something when it comes to turning The Last of Us into a series. The original story does have a lot of very interesting chapters, and it’s potential for some compelling television. If anything, the first game kind of set a new bar when it came to video game narration, and the sequel pretty much pushed the boundaries when it comes to player immersion and empathy. Fingers crossed that showrunner Craig Mazin will be able to tap into that when it comes to this more traditional form of entertainment.

No release date has been set for The Last of Us, but fans are hoping to catch it on HBO sometime soon.

Sony Allegedly Wants to Remake The Last of Us Part 1 for the PS5 https://www.geekfeed.com/sony-allegedly-wants-to-remake-the-last-of-us-part-1-for-the-ps5/ Thu, 15 Apr 2021 06:23:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59107 2013’s The Last of Us is considered to be a genre-defining masterpiece, and the story of Joel and Ellie remains to be one of the best stories to be told in the interactive medium. While the remastered version is already considered a solid entry for the PS4, it looks like that isn’t enough for Sony.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Sony had secret plans to remake the first Last of Us game for the PS5, and had even assembled a team (lead by Michael Mumbauer) to develop what was dubbed the T1X project.

The project was apparently dubbed as too expensive to produce by PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst, and Mumbauer’s team was then moved to work on The Last of Us Part II. After TLOU2 was released though, T1X was said to have become a Naughty Dog project and the original team had since left the company. The remake is apparently still in the works.

Admittedly, a lot of people don’t see the point of a remake of a game that still holds up for the PS4 gen. The gameplay hasn’t even changed when it comes to Part II, so we shouldn’t expect anything much from a remake of the first game besides enhanced graphics.

Some think the story could be altered to compliment the upcoming HBO series, but so far, nothing has been confirmed.

Hopefully Sony manages to address this soon, because personally, I would prefer that they just greenlit Part III of the franchise. Going back to the original game feels like some kind of corporate decision to appease fans who hated Part II.

For now, you can check out The Last of Us parts I and II on the PlayStation 4|5.
