In a new clip from Kingdom, we have tribe of apes repeating Caesar’s iconic “Apes Together Strong” mantra. Check this out:
Though the last Apes movie only had a couple of apes being able to talk, it does look like all of them are now capable of speech. Albeit, it’s still not as eloquent as human speech, but it does give us a feel of just where the apes are at this point in their evolution as a society.
This time around, the new lead will be in the form of ape Noa (Owen Teague) who, like Caesar, will know the value of the humans—who have devolved into a savage species that the apes like to hunt in this time. The antagonist comes inf the form of Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand) who seems to know all about the technological advancements of humans and is keeping it a secret from the all of the apes.
The world is very interesting science fiction and really goes for the Animal Farm themes of what it means to be human/animal. Hopefully they manage to kickoff a new trilogy of great Ape films with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign. Apes are the dominant species living harmoniously with one another and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape will undertake a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to come out in theaters on May 8.

Here’s the synopsis:
Set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Though the first three films in the Planet of the Apes reboot have showcased the fall of human civilization, this movie will pretty much bring us around the timeline of the original POTA movie where apes have become the dominant species and the humans have been relegated to mere animals.
Interspecies existence has always been in the core of the film so far, and it does look like that theme will continue with this movie. It’s going to be interesting to watch how the apes tackle the truth that humans were once the dominant species here, and I think we’re going to watch these apes commit the same mistakes that humans did if they don’t manage to learn from their history.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to release in theaters on May 10.

Here’s the official description:
Many years after the reign of Caesar, a young ape goes on a journey that will lead him to question everything he’s been taught about the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Instead of Serkis, the film will now have Owen Teague (IT) as the lead ape named Cornelius. Other actors in the cast include Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, William H. Macy, and Peter Macon. The film is also being directed by Wes Ball, who is best known for his work on the Maze Runner movies.
If you’ve seen the original Planet of the Apes, you’ll see that Kingdom is getting a lot closer to that timeline, with the apes slowly building their own civilization. Of course, there are humans still running around, but they have far devolved from the dominant species on Earth.
We don’t know exactly how the new Apes films will plan to change the formula, but it has been interesting to watch this modern Animal Farm-type story unfold through the years. Hopefully we get into it long enough to watch a bunch of humans from the past time-travel their way to the planet, coming full circle.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
]]>According to Deadline, Owen Teague (who played one of the teen bullies in the IT reboot) has been cast as the ‘lead primate’ for the upcoming Planet of the Apes movie. We don’t know much about the story yet, but we do know that Maze Runner director Wes Ball will be at the helm this time around.
With the latest Apes trilogy showing us the rise of the ape civilization and the fall of humanity, maybe this sequel could have us closer to the premise of the original movies—where the apes were already the dominant species enslaving what was left of the humans.
Admittedly, War for the Planet of the Apes still ended up with a hopeful sentiment about the survival of the human race, so maybe this next movie could still be pulling on that thread. Then again, I think watching that struggle between man vs. ape has pretty much shaped the latest trilogy, and it would be great if we can get a movie that brings something completely different to the table.
What that is, I can’t possibly know. But Ball was said to have delivered a script that ‘instantly excited execs.’ Now this I got to see.
No release date has been announced for the next Planet of the Apes movie.
