According to Star Wars News Net, McGregor could be making another comeback as Obi-Wan in the second season of Ahsoka. It’s said that he would be reprising Obi-Wan during a Clone Wars flashback and will also share scenes with Ariana Greenblatt, who plays the younger Ahsoka.
Besides McGregor, the site also says that Hayden Christensen is going to return in a bigger role as Anakin Skywalker this time around. Christensen had a recurring role as Anakin in the first season as a hologram, then as a vision, but he comes back as a Force Ghost to connect with Ahsoka by the end of the season.
With Dave Filoni at the helm of the series, it’s no mystery that Ahsoka was littered with all kinds of Easter Eggs to previously established lore; but a lot of fans have caught wise to Filoni’s tendency for nostalgia-baiting, and a lot weren’t too happy with Ahsoka’s character essentially being a bland Jedi who spends most of the series crossing her arms and slightly smiling at Sabine.
It’s unclear if Filoni was able to address this problem for the second season, but with him also working on the Mandalorian and Grogu movie, it’s best to assume that he’s been pretty busy since Ahsoka aired.
Ahsoka Season 2 is set to start shooting this year, and Lucasfilm is planning to release The Mandalorian and Grogu in theatres on May 22, 2026.
]]>Talking to The Cosmic Circus, Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle star Xolo Mariduena has seemingly confirmed that Nanjiani has been cast as the DCU’s Booster Gold. No official announcement has been done by DC at all, but it would make sense for Mariduena to know who Booster Gold is, since fans are expecting a team-up between him and Blue Beetle somewhere down the line.
Traditionally, Booster Gold is a blonde white guy in the comics, and his backstory has him travelling from the future to the present in order to capitalize on his ‘historical’ knowledge. Fancasts for the character have included the likes of Chris Pratt and Glen Powell. With Nanjiani’s announcement though, a lot of fans thought he was actually a great choice. He certainly has the comedy chops, and fans have already seen him play a con-man in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
I’m just hoping that when DC does make the official announcement, they’ll make sure to keep the ‘anti-woke’ fans from spouting anything offensive at Nanjiani. Then again, Nanjiani’s probably used to this by now, seeing that he’s already been through the MCU roller coaster.
Hopefully they make the official announcement soon. No official announcement has been made for a Booster Gold movie or a Blue Beetle sequel, but the new DCU official debuts with Superman in July 11, 2025
]]>Talking to Conan O’Brien on Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Neeson goes on to talk about the Star Wars fandom being a “cult,” then he says, “There’s so many movies and spin-offs, and I think, you’re diluting the whole thing.”
Admittedly, that is the opinion for several Star Wars fans and critics ever since the Disney+ Star Wars series came out. While it seemed like we were getting a steady stream of entries with Disney’s original “one movie a year” plan which started with The Force Awakens back in 2015, we’re now getting more and more series, each with varying degrees of quality.
And while we are getting shows like Mando, Andor, and Ahsoka, no movies are being released theatrically. Though the studio says they want to release films, Lucasfilm can’t seem to settle on a director, moving from talents like Patty Jenkins to Damon Lindelof, and now director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Is Taika Waititi even working on his thing anymore?
We don’t know when Star Wars will get back on its feet, but fans are admittedly scattered right now. Personally, I’m still hoping for a theatrical Obi-Wan movie with a small appearance from Neeson again, besides his one line from the show.
For now, catch Ahsoka now streaming on Disney+.
]]>As per the latest spot that’s been dropped for the movie, Ahsoka will premiere on Disey+ on August 23. Watch this:
The teaser kind of repeats a lot of the shots we’ve seen in the previous trailers, but we do have some new visuals, specifically Sabine wielding what seems to be Ezra’s lightsaber.
The last time we saw Sabine wielding something like a lightsaber was when she was training to use the Darksaber herself in Star Wars Rebels. The Mandalorian fans will know what happened to the weapon after Rebels, but I am interested to see just how Sabine herself has evolved through the years; we don’t even see her wearing her Mandalorian armor anymore.
After her debut appearance in The Mandalorian, the live-action hype for Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka has just slowly been growing. We don’t know where Dave FIloni plans to take the series, but I’m hoping that he manages to come up with some more interesting concepts for the characters as compared to his usual trademark of including references and Easter Eggs that are only meaningful for hardcore Star Wars lore-keepers.
I’m just hopeful we get something that’s a lot closer to Andor as compared to the reference-heavy Book of Boba Fett which completely sidelined its main character for a few episodes in favor of Din Djarin.
Catch Ahsoka when it premieres on Disney+ on Aug. 23.
]]>As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has teamed up with Legendary Entertainment for the live-action adaptation of My Hero Academia. The streaming service has hired Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi) to write the feature film, and will have director Shinsuke Sato (Alice in Borderland, Bleach) at the helm.
Just to get an idea of what kind of anime adaptation we can expect from Sato, here’s the trailer for his adaptation of Bleach:
I personally never expect too much from these anime adaptations, and I’m pretty sure Netflix is still sitting in that ‘bad anime adaptation’ hole after the live-action Cowboy Bebop. Even if that is the case though, I can’t blame them for trying.
With superhero properties being released left and right, and with Disney+ setting the bar with their Marvel series, My Hero Academia the movie has a lot to live-up to. Then again, they pretty much already made the ‘school for superheroes’ movie when Disney released Sky High back in 2005. Some fans are still waiting on that sequel which would have put the main characters in superhero college a.k.a. Save U.
No release date has been set for the live-action adaptation of My Hero Academia.
]]>As per Deadline, Varma will be joining HBO Max’s Dune: The Sisterhood, and she will be playing Empress Natalya, described as, “a formidable royal who united thousands of worlds in her marriage to Emperor Corrino.” Besides Varma, other cast members for the show include Emily Watson (Chernobyl) and Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter).
Before you start wondering if anyone from the Dune films is going to be appearing on the show, it’s worth noting that Sisterhood will be a prequel, and will take place 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ story. The synopsis reads:
The series will follow the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.
The series is also based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune which was written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. Diane Ademu-John will serve as creator and co-showrunner alongside Alison Schapker.
With the Dune franchise expected to end with the second film in 2023, I guess WB is moving the right direction, trying to adapt as many stories as it can while the boat is still afloat. I guess HBO Max, like Disney+, does provide an avenue for spinoffs that are not as expensive as theatrically released material, but still have some relevance to the story.
No release date has been announced for Dune: The Sisterhood, but Dune: Part Two is set to hit theaters Nov. 17, 2023.
]]>According to Vanity Fair, Jones has signed over the rights of his voice to Lucasfilm, allowing them to use the Respeecher technology to bring Vader to life—the same they used for young Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian.
Lucasfilm’s Matthew Wood said about Jones’ exit, “He had mentioned he was looking into winding down this particular character… So how do we move forward?”
If anything, they probably already used the Respeecher tech during Obi-Wan Kenobi; it’s kind of like how the credit Mark Hamill for the Disney+ shows even if none of his actual performance makes it to the final cut.
While I thought the Respeecher tech was kind of odd to listen to when it came to Luke Skywalker, I think that it would work perfect for a character like Vader, who isn’t supposed to resemble a human anyway. Even if that was the case, I’m sure that Lucasfilm is continuously working to improve the technology. Personally, I’m on the side of hiring completely new actors as compared to just bringing back everyone from the dead with VFX tech.
We don’t know where Vader will appear again, but you can catch him in Obi-Wan Kenobi now streaming on Disney+.
]]>Check out the trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return:
This special explores the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker to the screen, as well as Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to their classic roles. Director Deborah Chow leads the cast and crew as they create new heroes and villains that live alongside new incarnations of beloved Star Wars characters, and an epic story that dramatically bridges the saga films.
While shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett had full series documenting the making of each season, it looks like A Jedi’s Return is going to be compressed to just one special. If anything, it does look like it has a lot of great interviews from McGregor himself as well as Christensen who we barely got to see out of the Vader armor.
Personally, though I was excited to see the return of Obi-Wan and Vader in the show, I share the sentiment of multiple fans online that felt that the story was too stretched out for one season of television. I also think that the visuals and spectacle just couldn’t match the same as a theatrically released movie.
Despite my concerns, there are still a lot of fans who loved the show, and are hoping for a second season to be greenlit soon. I just hope Disney decides to bring it to the big screen next time because Obi-Wan v Vader is supposed to be a cinematic experience.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return premieres Sept. 8. You can watch the complete season of Obi-Wan Kenobi now streaming on Disney+.
]]>Watch LEGO Obi-Wan Kenobi rap about Gamorrean Girls in this new clip from LSWSV:
Though I was half-expecting a Star Wars parody of Katy Perry California Girls, Gamorrean Girls sounds a lot like the music from Jabba’s Palace that we hear way back in Return of the Jedi. Sure it’s kind of corny to watch a character like Obi-Wan rap, but this is a LEGO special, so there’s really no point arguing about anything like canon.
With the way that shows like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi are so serious, it’s shows like the LEGO Star Wars specials that have been adding a bit more variety to the SW content coming to Disney+. And though they may not be canon, it’s probably our only update on the Sequel era characters that could have some kind of resemblance to what Lucasfilm wants to do with the era.
Personally, I think that the studio is waiting for the target audience of The Force Awakens (i.e., the kids) to grow up before releasing the next Sequel era film, but for now, it seems that the studio is just focused on pleasing the Prequel/Original Trilogy fans for now, what with them being so glued to that timeline.

]]>According to insider Daniel Richtman (via @MarvelCrave), Ingram is currently in talks to join the MCU. No details have been revealed if this is for a film or for a television series, but a lot of fans are already guessing that she’s been chosen to be Marvel’s new Ororo Monroe a.k.a. Storm. They’re even going so far as to speculate that she’ll be introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
With Professor X in Doctor Strange 2 and the confirmation that Kamala Khan is a mutant in Ms. Marvel, seeds have been planted for the introduction of mutants to the world of the MCU. We don’t know how Marvel Studios will tackle their arrival, but it would be great if they managed to embrace their struggle in the comics—what with the regular people fearing them and the X-Men having to prove that both species can co-exist.
I have to admit, it’s going to be tricky trying to introduce the mutants into the MCU, seeing that they’ve mostly been absent from the series’ run, but I guess this could give the writers an opportunity to really have the world treat the mutants like a threat that they’ve never seen before. I guess the hard part will have to be altering Magneto and Professor X’s origin. At this point, Erik Lehnsherr would be too old to be a Holocaust survivor in the 2020s. Some have pitched to rewrite Magneto as an African-American who experienced racism in his youth, but I guess there are multiple other ways to approach it.
Going back to Ingram though, we don’t know if she’ll debut in the MCU soon, but you can catch her in Obi-Wan Kenobi now streaming on Disney+.
]]>Talking to The Direct, series writer Stuart Beattie explained that he originally planned for Reva not to know Darth Vader’s identity, and she would then die consciously by his hand. Bettie explains:
“Yeah, except the only little difference in mine was she didn’t know Darth Vader was Anakin. Cause I was like, ‘How’d she know that?’ All she saw was Anakin as Anakin because he hadn’t changed in the suit yet, right? So Anakin killed her friends, put the scar on her, almost killed her, left her for dead, basically. So, in her mind, the Jedi Council were the biggest villains in the galaxy. She believed the lies that they were plotting a coup to overtake and get power and all that, but they were stopped by the Clones. So she believed that’s why she’s hunting Jedi, because she believed the Jedi are the worst, basically.”
The series goes another direction by making Reva’s goal killing Vader by getting close to him, which she still fails. She then runs off to Tatooine to try and murder Luke as some kind of revenge on Anakin. Beattie continues:
“Because I figured, ‘How would she know that this thing in a mechanical suit that everyone calls Darth Vader is the guy who killed her, or tried to kill her?’ So, it was Obi-Wan kind of letting her in on that secret and that revelation that makes her kind of go, ‘Oh my god, I’ve been wrong this whole time.’ And so she goes and basically saved Kenobi by sacrificing herself, telling Vader, ‘I killed Kenobi.’ And then Vader killed her, [with her] knowing that Vader would kill her. So, that kind of completed her arc. So just a little bit different that she was, yeah, absolutely, the Inquisitor hunting Kenobi all the way through and driven by her own personal demons.”
Admittedly, the reason she knows his identity is still kind of clunky, but the revision gives a reason for Luke to be part of the finale, and we get to see Owen and Beru play their part in the protection of Luke.
For now, Reva’s character is free to go where the writers choose, but she will have to be on some kind of redemption arc because she was still hunting Jedi way before she decided to stop fighting.
Hopefully a second season of Kenobi gets announced, or better yet, a movie.

]]>Talking to Radio Times, McGregor had expressed, “I hope it’s not the last time I play him… I had such a great time doing this, I’m sure we can think of a few more stories before I turn into Alec Guinness, don’t you think?”
Even before the finale, rumors were already flying around that the ending of Kenobi was changed in order to leave potential for a second season. The fact that it’s hinted that Reva actually survives her encounter with Vader could mean that Disney+ wants to bring her back for more.
While we’ll have to wait and see until the finale for some conclusive proof, director Deborah Chow did say, “I mean, there are of course more stories that you could tell. There’s obviously another 10 years before we get to A New Hope and with a character like Obi-Wan Kenobi, I think even just watching him ride across the sand sometimes is interesting. So, who knows? It’s hard to say right now, but it was not the intention.”
With so much room to fill in the blanks, I could definitely see a second season happening. Even now it feels like a finale is already too short. If you ask me, they should really come up with a standard length for episodes, because it’s kind of exhausting to enter each week not knowing what kind of cliffhanger we’re going to be receiving.
Heck, they should just go for a theatrically released movie. I’m sure there are fans who would line up for it.

]]>This was the account’s reply to someone who was trying to trash Billie Lourd and Kelly Marie Tran at Star Wars Celebration:
Respectfully, L + ratio.
— Star Wars (@starwars) May 29, 2022
The post was met with a lot of positive reactions from fans, and there has been some appreciation from the official Star Wars Twitter page for taking a stand against the toxic fandom. While Disney has been notorious for trying to keep all sides pleased, it’s good to see the PR team actually take a side for once.
It doesn’t stop there, either. After the targeted criticism at new character Reva from Obi-Wan Kenobi, the official Twitter has called out the racist comments against actress Moses Ingram:
There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist.
— Star Wars (@starwars) May 31, 2022
It’s hard to point out exactly when the fandom started getting toxic, but it was pretty public around the time that the Prequels came out back in the late 90s. Fans only really started to address the problem with the release of The Last Jedi, where fans had managed to bully Kelly Marie Tran out of social media.
While I don’t think toxic fans can be completely stamped out, it’s great that the official Star Wars account itself is making a stand.

]]>Andor is set to premiere later this year, and Disney+ has given us our first teaser thanks to Star Wars Celebration 2022. Check this out:
The “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
With the Rebel Alliance still pretty scrappy in Rogue One, it looks like Andor will really see the faction come to form, and we’ll get to see it through the eyes of Cassian. Besides Andor though, we also have the character of Mon Mothma, who looks to be having her own origin told when it comes to this series.
While comments like “Who asked for this?” are being thrown around with Andor, I always like to settle in for projects that give me what I didn’t know I wanted. The same thing happened with Rogue One and Solo, and after the fanservice slogfests that were The Book of Boba Fett (and I have a feeling Obi-Wan Kenobi), I’m eager for something I wasn’t expecting—even if it does take place in the timeline of the original trilogy again.
Catch Andor which premieres on Disney+ on Aug. 31.
]]>Talking to Total Film (via GamesRadar), Chow explains that she wanted to make a character-driven story, the same way Logan and Joker were driven by characters. She says:
“I think I was the most excited about getting the opportunity to do a character driven story, in a similar way – it’s a different tone – but something like Joker or Logan, where you take one character out of a big franchise and then you really have the time and you go a lot deeper with the character… So, that to me seemed really exciting to get to do in Star Wars.”
With Star Wars essentially being a kid-friendly property, I don’t know just how much Lucasfilm is going to allow the series to be ‘character-driven’, but I’m always up for creatives like Chow to add something new when it comes to a galaxy far far away.
I’ll admit, I’m still reeling from the fanservice-heavy Book of Boba Fett, which kind of sidelined the character toward the end of its run. While a lot of people were happy to see Luke Skywalker and Mando come back, the series ultimately dropped the storyline with Boba for some unconnected development. If they wanted to emphasize Boba’s relationship with Cad Bane, they should have really just gave Bane some episodes so his clash with Boba would have been more meaningful to audiences who didn’t watch The Clone Wars.
Hopefully Kenobi goes a different direction. Catch it when it premieres on Disney+ on May 27.

The ID. Buzz and Obi-Wan Kenobi have one thing in common: they’re out of this world. Watch the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi on 5/27 on Disney+ and tune in all season long.
Besides R2-D2 and C-3PO, it looks like the trailer is also giving us a look at a new droid that will be making its debut in the upcoming series. While we’ve had droids that looked like garbage cans and balls, this one looks to be based on a lady bug. If anything, it kind of reminds me of Weebo from Flubber.
While Star Wars had tried to make a comeback in cinemas with The Force Awakens, it looks like Lucasfilm has made it clear that they will be going through a new approach with the upcoming slate of Star Wars shows. While I’m always up for more Star Wars, I think the franchise is ultimately about heartfelt stories filled with spectacle—and you just can’t match spectacle when you have it in a theater.
At least, that’s my optinion. Hopefully Kenobi won’t fall into the fanservice trap that The Book of Boba Fett fell into.
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 27.
]]>Talking to Total Film (via NabooNews) Christensen reveals:
“He is 100 per cent a fully realised Vader. This is, in a lot of ways, Vader in his prime. But he’s a very complex character, and there’s an inherent struggle of identity that is always present – there’s inner conflict. He’s always going to be struggling with the loss of Padmé. He’s got Anakin buried deep down inside. There always has to be that element of Anakin there, because he does eventually find redemption in the end – through the love of his son, no less. So there has to be that bit of him in there for Luke to be able to access. There’s a lot going on.”
While we know there is a lot of character depth between Obi-Wan and Vader, fans are still curious as to what kind of lightsaber fight they should expect in the series. Though the prequels had perfected a new visually stunning lightsaber choreography, the sequels had opted for a more old school version of the duels. Christensen comments:
“[The lightsaber fighting style is] more in line with the prequels than we are with how the fights are in the original trilogy. These characters have aged, but not that much yet.”
That should be good news for fans who have been waiting since the prequels for a more elaborate saber duel. Hopefully we don’t have to wait till the end of the series to watch it.
Catch Obi-Wan Kenobi when it premieres on Disney+ on May 27.
]]>Watch the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer down here:
While the trailer doesn’t have those sweet nostalgia-triggering musical cues from the first teaser, we do have a better look at all the other characters in the story—including some new ones like the one being played by Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals, Silicon Valley).
We also get another look at Rupert Friend’s High Inquisitor, and I can say that it actually doesn’t look as goofy as it did in the first teaser—I guess it really just was a matter of angling.
Despite the character of Obi-Wan said to have started doubting his connection to the Force, we can see that he is still very committed to the Jedi way and is telling Owen Lars that Luke needs to be trained. True to his character in A New Hope though, Lars doesn’t trust Obi-Wan, and would prefer that he stay away from his nephew.
The teaser doesn’t give us a full look at Vader either, but I think it’s all going to be worth it once he gets his big reveal in the actual show. Let’s hope we get a good idea on where Vader is mentally, seeing as we’ve yet to get a look at Vader in his prime when it comes to the films. It would be great contrast against Obi-Wan’s character arc, if you ask me.
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 27.
]]>In a recent panel at Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention (via StarWarsNewsNet), Ian McDiarmid, who plays main villain Emperor Palpatine, has hinted that he could be returning to a Disney+ show. He says:
“There’s a certain show coming soon set right around the time I may have considered to be very active. Whether or not you will see my physical body, I cannot comment on. But you will certainly feel my presence”
Immediately everyone’s guess is the Kenobi series, but take note that there is also the Andor show in the works. While it’s completely possible that the Andor series could feature an appearance from Palpatine, I think the inclusion of Vader’s character in Kenobi could already be a strong enough hint that Palpatine could appear—maybe even just as a hologram.
With a lot of fans taking issue with Palpatine’s return out of nowhere, maybe the expanded stories could be the chance for Lucasfilm to make it all make sense. Maybe have Palpatine laying out his back-up army in Exegol—or have us meet an early version of his puppet Supreme Leader Snoke. Just something to add on to the mysteries of the main films—which I think is what the expanded universe is all about.
I’m not saying Palpatine’s in it, but you can catch Obi-Wan Kenobi when it premieres on Disney+ on May 27.

The ad is basically an optical illusion that makes it look like Boba is surveying the people below. While the optical illusion does look pretty impressive, I’m curious if it will work from other angles. I think you’ll have to stand in a very specific place to make sure the ad is working properly for your eyes.
As for the show itself, The Book of Boba Fett has been bashed by fans for not having a solid enough story to last the whole season. If anything, a lot of viewers were kind of annoyed that the show kind of forgets about Boba in order to focus on Luke Skywalker and other Disney Mando Din Djarin.
With so much emphasis on Boba’s relationship with Cad Bane, you would think that they would have just dedicated an episode to him instead of just having him show up to have Boba kill him?
There certainly is room down the line for a Boba Fett sequel, and it would be great if we could follow him in the peak of his bounty hunting days. If not, there’s definitely room in the future for Tatooine’s new Daimyo. We’ll just have to wait and see.
