The latest character to be revealed for the game? X-Men’s Psylocke. Check her out here:

Though X-Men fans have a pretty clear image of a certain version of Psylocke—with the dark purple one piece and red sash—this version of Psylocke is based on artist Peach Momoko’s Demon Days comic, a reimagining of the Marvel Universe based on Japanese folklore.

Rather than being called Betsy Bradock, this version of Psylocke was simply called “Sai” and she was a wandering swordsman trope with an animal companion named “Logan”.

It’s actually a fairly new adaptation, only coming out in 2021, but it does track with Rivals and their approach to presenting established characters with fresh original looks for the game.

There isn’t a breakdown of Psylocke’s abilities in the game yet, but it’s very likely she could be a melee combat hero, what with her katana. Based on what she does in the trailer, it also looks like she could have the ability to teleport. In the comics, her powers are mostly telekinetic, and she has a pink power signature. She also has telepathic abilities, so it’s possible they could add that to the game.

With a release set for December, it’s possible that Marvel Rivals still has more characters to reveal. It’s only a matter of time.

Marvel Rivals is expected to launch on Dec. 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Marvel Rivals Announces Launch Date with 2 New Character Reveals https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-announces-launch-date-2-characters/ Fri, 23 Aug 2024 09:11:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83865 After months of hype since the alpha launch, it looks like Marvel Games and NetEase are finally ready to officially release Marvel Rivals a.k.a. Marvel Overwatch.

Just in, the launch date has been announced, and it comes with the gameplay reveal for buddy duo Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Check this out:

The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda is in danger! Captain America leaps into action against his age-old rival: The Winter Soldier. Assemble and answer the call, players!

As per the announcement, the game is officially going to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 06, 2024—just in time for the Christmas season where kids will hopefully have some money to cash in on some DLC.

Captain America had actually leaked months earlier, and her we see his official look and gameplay. While the shield being a projectile was a given, it does look like he has the Charging Star move from Marvel vs. Capcom where he just rushes the enemy with his shield.

Speaking of his shield, it looks like it can generate a force field which expands its area of effect.

As for Bucky/Winter Soldier, the game has decided to get more creative with his robot arm, allowing him to have robot tentacles—which pretty much hits his HYDRA theme. Besides the arm, it looks like he comes with a standard pistol; too bad he isn’t as armed as the Punisher when it comes to his arsenal.

Fans are only expecting this roster to keep growing down the line. Hopefully NetEase manages to keep the ball rolling for long enough. Marvel Rivals is set to launch on Dec. 6 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Marvel Rivals Console Announcement Reveals Venom and Adam Warlock https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-reveals-venom-and-adam-warlock/ Mon, 03 Jun 2024 09:41:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82716 We spent the past month watching PC players gush over Marvel’s Overwatch clone Marvel Rivals, and now it’s time for the console gamer to jump in on the fun.

Just in, we have the reveal for the console beta of Rivals, and it also comes with a look at the gameplay of two new characters. Check this out:

The official description reads:

Marvel Rivals finally comes to PlayStation 5 and Xbox!

Venom and Adam Warlock unleash their powers! Watch as they lead their teams into an epic face-off with all-new Team-Up abilities and environmental destruction!

Warm up your skills for the next phase of Marvel Rivals: the Closed Beta Test will be unleashed next July on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam!

What’s also great is that PS5 players will also get access to an exclusive Spider-Man skin. At least Xbox players can be rest-assured that they’ll still be able to play the character—unlike in other games where Spidey is only playable in PlayStation.

As for the officially revealed characters, we can see that Venom has some of Spider-Man’s abilities, like being able to swing around the map. His symbiote powers make him different as it allows him to ‘splatoon’ himself toward other players and make a huge burst of an attack.

As for Warlock, it looks like he’s a more healing-based Doctor Strange—which could make him this game’s Mercy, but it’s too early to tell.

With July still a month away, it’s possible we could get more character reveals down the line. By then we should also get a tentative release window for the actual game.

Watch out for the Closed Beta Test for Marvel Rivals when it arrives or consoles this July.

Marvel Rivals Data Miners have Found Other Unannounced Characters; Hela Officially Revealed https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-rivals-data-miners-found-characters/ Sun, 12 May 2024 09:03:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82346 Marvel Rivals is already gearing up to launch with a packed roster, but fans know that the developers at NetEase are waiting to reveal their biggest names in the game.

With a lot of players now gearing up for the closed beta, dataminers have allegedly found a bunch on characters in the game index that have not yet been officially revealed by the game. Check these out:

Among the unannounced Marvel Rivals characters include, the Fantastic Four roster, Hawkeye, Captain America, Cloak & Dagger, Ultron, Moon Knight, Squirrel Girl, Black Widow, Venom, Thor, Winter Soldier, Blade, Adam Warlock, Jeff the Landshark, Psylocke, Wolverine, and Iron Fist (Lin Lie).

And though she wasn’t revealed with the intial roster, we now have a full character reveal for Hela:

None may challenge Hela’s will! The Queen of Hel bestows her might upon those daring enough to join her! Gather the powers of Nastrond, from cursed crows to a rain of nightswords! As the living world trembles before death, Hela rises as the most chilling Duelist.

As the Timestream Entanglement erodes the veil between life and death, the Asgardian villain seeks to expand her rule beyond the Ten Realms! Dark dealings with her kin and other dark deities may be necessary, calling night upon the mortal Multiverse!

Based on the characters that have been officially revealed, and the ones that have been data-mined, it looks like we’re going to get a roster of 39 playable characters. We don’t know how NetEase plans to release them, but it’s possible they could be going the Overwatch route, releasing them based on player experience with most of the profits coming from cosmetics.

For now, fans are just waiting for the beta, but hopefully they’ll be able to work out the kinks and reveal even more characters by launch sometime later in the year.

The closed alpha for Marvel Rivals takes place on May 10.
