With Baldur’s Gate 3 essentially dominating the fantasy genre last year, we now have a look at the next Fable game.

Check this out:

What does it mean to be a Hero? Humphry, once one of the greatest, will be forced out of retirement when a mysterious figure from his past threatens Albion’s very existence.

The trailer pretty much follows the format of the last teaser we got for the came which has a character in-game explaining what idea they have of a hero (i.e., the player). Besides the look at the new Humphry character though, we also get a tease for the villain, who could be getting the spotlight in the next preview.

Just for context, here’s the previous Fable trailer with a giant Richard Ayoade:

The first Fable game has released 20 years ago back in 2004 and was met with several well-received games by fans. It was only around the 2010s that a decline had begun with Fable Heroes and Fable: The Journey. There had been multiple attempts to kickstart the franchise again, but ultimately the developers at Playground Games had opted to just reboot the series with the announcement back in 2020.

Now we’re expecting to see the game released five years later. We don’t know what to expect with the new Fable yet, but with Baldur’s Gate setting a gold standard for fantasy RPG, Fable has its work cut out for it.

The Fable reboot is set to release for Xbox Series X|S and PC sometime in 2025.

The Pokemon Company has Released Official Statement about Palworld https://www.geekfeed.com/the-pokemon-company-official-statement-palworld/ Sun, 28 Jan 2024 07:20:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80777 Everyone has a general idea about what Pokemon is, but there’s this new game that’s just launched called Palworld that is somehow going around like wildfire—because everyone has just been teasing it as “Pokemon with guns.”

From the company Pocket Pair, Palworld is an open world survival RPG that lets player jump into a world littered with cute monsters called “Pals”, and they have to duke it out with them (with guns or other weapons) in order to tire them out and catch them with “Pal Spheres”. Sound familiar? Check out the launch video:

Fans have also particularly pointed out that the characters in the game have a very similar kind of art style to that of the Pokemon games. With that in mind, everyone was wondering why Nintendo has not been suing the company yet, and now they’ve released a statement (via @DiscussingFilm):

Take note, Nintendo has only started their legal action when modders of the game had started making mods that put actual Pokemon in Palworld. When it comes to the actual game though, it doesn’t seem they have any solid grounds to sue them, especially since they don’t own an ‘art-style’ as a lot of fans would call it.

So far, Palworld is proving to be a huge hit, and has amassed over 7 million players less than a month since it released. Besides elements influenced by Pokemon, others are also noting influences from other games including Vanheim and Horizon Zero Dawn.

We don’t know how far this feud with Palworld and Pokemon will go, but as of now, some think The Pokemon Company was just forced to issue a statement by fans who have been snitching on the game and its similarities to Pokemon.

Palworld is now playable for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Elder Scrolls VI NOT Coming to PlayStation? https://www.geekfeed.com/elder-scrolls-vi-not-coming-to-playstation/ Wed, 20 Sep 2023 05:01:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78815 With all the hype around Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a lot of fans were excited when it was announced that the sequel was finally in development. What’s bad news is, it might not be available for PlayStation users when it comes out.

In a recent tweet from Axios reporter Stephen Totilo (via IGN), a recent Microsoft document from the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) vs. Microsoft trial over the merger with Actisivion Blizzard has revealed that Elder Scrolls VI is eyeing to release only for the Xbox and PC. Here’s the tweet:

Take note, the same tweet does also say that Xbox head Phil Spencer says that platforms will still be determined, so there could be a chance that the game could come out for PlayStation. Then again, with PlayStation making a lot of bank with their exclusive titles, a lot of people think that Microsoft’s recent acquisition of big studios like Blizzard means that they’re also looking for their own exclusive IPs to draw new players in.

With PlayStation still having a huge player base, it would be a shame if they couldn’t sell what is one of the most-awaited sequels on that platform, but it’s possible that we could be looking at a new pattern of exclusives. With The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Death Stranding being PS exclusives that eventually went to PC, maybe Xbox could be doing the same thing by having the game release on Xbox and PC first then having a PS port released in a year after that.

Then again, that’s just wishful thinking on my end.

No release date has been announced for The Elder Scrolls VI.

Bethesda Confirms Development has Started for Elder Scrolls VI https://www.geekfeed.com/bethesda-on-development-for-elder-scrolls-vi/ Thu, 07 Sep 2023 16:02:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78621 The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is considered to be one of the best fantasy roleplaying games of all time, and for years fans have been badgering Bethesda when they would be releasing the sequel.

Now the developers have confirmed that the game is now in early development, and it should be smooth-sailing once they launch their latest title Starfield. Talking to Vandal (via IGN), Bethesda head Peter Hines has confirmed that Elder Scrolls VI is now in the development phase.

We have put all of our studio’s focus on making this game the best it can be,” said Hines, “… Yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but this is what the studio has focused on. So no, you are not going to hear soon about The Elder Scrolls 6. Starfield is our focus for now, and it’s going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.”

Elder Scrolls VI was announced to be in pre-production way back in 2018, and while a lot of fans think that the game is still in that phase, Hines has confirmed that the game has moved from pre-production to development, albeit he does add, “it’s in early development.”

We don’t have any further details about the next Elder Scrolls game yet, but it’s safe to assume that the game will once again bring us into a fantasy world with all kinds of magic and fantasy, with different races and locations. And of course, we should also expect the modding community to have their fun with an all-new open world.

Starfield launches for Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S on Sept. 6.

Gears of War Live-Action Movie Pushes Forward with Dune Writer https://www.geekfeed.com/gears-of-war-movie-nabs-dune-writer/ Wed, 22 Mar 2023 16:00:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=75962 It’s been four months since Netflix had announced that they would be making a Gears of War movie, and we have yet to get a major update. While we have yet to get news on a star, the movie has landed its screenwriter.

As per a press release from developers Coalition (via Gizmodo), Dune screenwriter Jon Spaihts has signed on to provide the script for Gears of War. The statement reads:

“We’re thrilled to partner with Jon and the Netflix team to bring Gears of War to life. Jon is a master storyteller with a talent for creating epic science fiction universes and he truly loves Gears of War. We couldn’t ask for a better partner to honor our franchise and deliver an authentic story to our fans.”

Besides Dune, Spaihts has also worked on other sci-fi movies including Prometheus and Passengers. I guess Marvel fans would be happy to know he provided the script for Doctor Strange as well.

I’ll admit, Dune was a critically-acclaimed movie, but it’s far from the blood and action franchise that is Gears of War. If anything, Spaihts is pretty optimistic about taking on the lore, and says that he’s a huge fan of the games. He explains:

Gears of War is one of the all-time great action games, with vivid characters, a beautifully designed world, and a combat system that drives home the lethality of war and the importance of standing by your squadmates. It wants to be cinema, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to help that happen.”

No release date has been set for Netflix’s Gears of War movie.

Microsoft Announces Xbox TV App which Removes Need for a Traditional Console https://www.geekfeed.com/microsoft-announces-xbox-tv-app-which-removes-need-for-a-traditional-console/ Fri, 11 Jun 2021 16:38:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60024 Microsoft and Sony had just launched their next-gen consoles late last year, and while the PS5 may be the king when it comes to exclusives, the Xbox Series X|S is still a marvel of technology. But what’s more, it looks like Microsoft is looking to add some more edge to their gaming branch but removing the need for an actual console.

As per The Verge, Microsoft has just announced that they will be working with TV manufacturers on an Xbox app which will allows players to play Xbox games without the need of a console, just a controller. This said to be possible via xCloud streaming technology and a dedicated streaming stick.

Head of gaming experiences and platforms at Microsoft Liz Hamren had this to say about the announcement:

“We’re working with global TV manufacturers to embed the Game Pass experience directly into internet-connected TVs so all you’ll need to play is a controller.”

We don’t know when the app will be available yet, but we should probably hope to see more of this in detail with Microsoft’s E3 showcase on June 13.

Despite this divergence on the console path, IGN reports that Microsoft is still adamant that consoles are the ‘flagship experience.’ A lot of fans do admit that this announcement seems kind of odd for Xbox, considering that they had just launched a console less than a year ago, and now they’re touting a system that would render them obsolete in the future.

Hopefully we’ll get to see more of this cloud-based Xbox app during the Xbox showcase at E3 2021 on June 13.
