Just in, a set video has given a look at Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing in full costume. Check this out:

While some think that this would be a practical suit that will be used in the film like the 2005 Fantastic Four movies, this is actually more of a visual reference which would be used by VFX artists to figure out how to properly color the CG model when they add it to the frame.

It would also help the actors that are actually on set to know just what they’re looking at and what will be opposite them in the final product.

Admittedly, there are some fans (myself included) that would have loved a practical Thing suit. I especially love how they pulled it off in the 2000s films. But it was a very complicated process, and actor Michael Chiklis was said to have spent hours just putting the costume on; plus they would have to find ways to cool his body off because the suit doesn’t allow for much ventilation.

Hopefully with CG, we’re going to get a more comic-accurate Thing that will allow for a more subtle performance from Moss-Bachrach. We’re just going to have to wait and see till Marvel gives us our first official look.

Watch out for The Fantastic Four: First Steps when it hits theatres on July 25, 2025.

The Fantastic Four: New Details on Galactus and Odd Connection to America Chavez https://www.geekfeed.com/the-fantastic-four-new-details-on-galactus/ Tue, 06 Aug 2024 10:47:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83618 After years of the Fantastic Four taking on Doctor Doom, the MCU is going another direction and making Galactus their first big bad.

While we’ve already been introduced to celestials in this universe, this Galactus apparently has a very unique trait—one that he shares with Doctor Strange’s America Chavez.

According to The Cosmic Circus, Galactus is the only version of himself in the multiverse—meaning he doesn’t have any variants, pretty much like America. The source says, “Galactus is going to be the only individual from—in the entire multiverse. This is the one. There is no Galactus variant. This is him. Period.”

It’s unclear how that story element is going to affect how Galactus is treated within the context of the movie, but I imagine that if there’s one Galactus, that means there isn’t an alternate Galactus that the Four could study and figure out how to defeat. Also, if a Galactus comes to the 616 timeline, that means it’s going to be the same one that the Four have faced before.

Seeing how massive Celestials can be in the MCU, it’s going to be interesting to watch just how the Fantastic Four will be facing this threat. People are currently expecting them to lose their universe in order to bring them into the main timeline, but this just raises the stakes on how important it is for them to defeat the Devourer of Worlds.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.

Pedro Pascal Shares New Look at Fantastic Four Cast https://www.geekfeed.com/pascal-shares-new-look-at-fantastic-four-cast/ Tue, 30 Jul 2024 07:40:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83503 Deadpool and Wolverine is coming out this weekend, but fans should expect to get a bit excited about the new Fantastic Four. Production is set to begin soon, and series lead Pedro Pascal has just shared a photo of him with his co-stars Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm).

He also shares a photo of director Matt Shakman who has cut his teeth with Marvel when he worked on the series WandaVision. If that doesn’t impress you though, Shakman has also worked on series like Succession, Game of Thrones, The Great, and The Boys.

It’s still unclear what direction the new Fantastic Four is going, but based on rumors, the Four will actually come from an alternate timeline where everything is retro-futuristic. It’s expected that the Four will be going up against Galactus (Ralph Ineson)—but they will ultimately lose.

Rumor has it that the movie will have the Four ending up in the Marvel Universe 616, and since they already know what it’s like to face Galactus, they will know exactly how grave a threat a celestial will be when it comes for Earth.

For now, this is all just based on rumors. Personally, I prefer stories where nobody can predict what exactly to expect.

So far, fans are loving the retro vibe of the marketing, and fingers are crossed that Fantastic Four will finally bring in some of that more artistic flare that Marvel has been sorely lacking ever since it started back with Iron Man in 2008.

The Fantastic Four is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.

Marvel Drops New Poster for The Fantastic Four on 4-4 https://www.geekfeed.com/marvel-drops-new-poster-for-the-fantastic-four/ Mon, 08 Apr 2024 10:04:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81809 The Avengers may be the biggest team-up for the MCU, but the studio is also gearing up for the coming of Marvel’s first family in the form of The Fantastic Four.

Since it is April 4 a.k.a. 4-4, Marvel Studios has dropped a new poster featuring Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch, but there’s even more to it:

Besides the classic Torch look with the ‘4’ on his chest, fans have also noticed that there is a different kind of futuristic city in the background—which kind of confirms that the movie is going to be taking place in an alternate reality to the MCU.

If you also look at the link on the post,  it will send you on a tiny Easter Egg hunt. You may as well click on it now if you don’t want the game to be spoiled, but if you don’t have the time, the final destination of the game will bring you to a page for the Future Foundation an alternate rebranding of the Fantastic Four, and Marvel has given access to fans for the main comics that will inspire the upcoming film. They include:

Fantastic Four #1 – The first appearance of the Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four #48 , #49, and #50 – The coming of the Silver Surfer and the threat of Galactus

Fantastic Four: Life Story – A look back at the Fantastic Four over the years

A lot of these stories take place in the 60s, so we should get a good idea of what kind of tone we can expect from the upcoming movie. With the plot taking place in an alternate universe, a lot of fans are convinced that we’re definitely going to see Galactus eat the planet—so the F4 will know just how huge a threat he is when they get to the prime universe of the MCU.

Then again, that’s just speculation.

For now, The Fantastic Four is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.

Fantastic Four Reboot Taking Place in the 60s? https://www.geekfeed.com/fantastic-four-reboot-taking-place-in-the-60s/ Mon, 19 Feb 2024 16:18:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81087 After months of speculation, Marvel Studios has finally revealed the official cast for their Fantastic Four reboot, and that includes Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm).

This reveal was made with a Valetine’s post of artwork with the team in uniform:

We don’t know yet if this is the actual uniform for the movie or some holiday-themed get-up, but the poster does have fans speculating that the movie will be a period piece not unlike Captain America: The First Avenger.

Besides the overall aesthetic, fans are looking at the magazine that Ben Grimm is holding, and it does look like an actual issue that came out in the 60s.

Until Marvel decides to reveal more, all we can really do is guess; but it would make sense for Marvel’s “First Family” to have a story that takes place earlier in the timeline. With the ‘present’ MCU already filled to the brim with all kinds of geniuses, it’s kind of interesting to think that their new Fantastic Four would be people out of time that will have to adjust to the world and new technology.

It would also explain why they’ve been missing since the first Iron Man.

Admittedly, the MCU has been in a bit of a slump since Endgame, but fans are hopeful that after enough time has passed, we could be seeing a new, thought-out direction from the studio moving forward.

Catch The Fantastic Four when it comes out in theaters July 25, 2025.

Fantastic Four Hires Avatar: The Way of Water Writer https://www.geekfeed.com/fantastic-four-hires-avatar-writer/ Tue, 04 Apr 2023 17:37:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76131 A lot of fans are excited for Marvel Studios take on the Fantastic Four, but the movie is still in very early stages of development. WandaVision’s Matt Shakman has been attached for a while, but now it looks like the movie has found a new writer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Friedman, who wrote Avatar: The Way of Water, has been hired to rewrite a script that comes from Ian Springer and Jeff Kaplan. We don’t know exactly why Friedman was brought on, but THR speculates that it could have something to do with the change in tone of the film.

Some think that with Friedman onboard, we could be getting a blockbuster which has very tight themes about family—just like Avatar 2. Other films that Friedman has worked on include Syeven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds as well as the series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Cameron also had him attached to Terminator: Dark Fate, but there’s probably other reasons that movie bombed besides the writing.

Admittedly Phase 5 is off to a weak start with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, so fans are hoping that Marvel Studios gets its groove back soon. After Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Adam, and Quantumania failing to deliver critically at the box office, there is definitely pressure for Marvel to try and shake things up with their tried-and-true formula.

Fantastic Four is set to release on Feb. 14, 2025, but things could change based on how development is going for the film.

Star Trek 4 Finally Pushes Forward with WandaVision Director https://www.geekfeed.com/star-trek-4-finally-pushes-forward-with-wandavision-director/ Wed, 14 Jul 2021 12:32:32 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60521 After the underwhelming performance of Star Trek Beyond, Paramount has been having a hard time trying to figure out their next Trek entry. With directors like Quentin Tarantino coming and going, news has come out that the franchise has finally found someone to helm the fourth entry in the Kelvin Timeline.

As per Deadline, WandaVision director Matt Shakman is now attached to direct the fourth Trek film for Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. The movie is expected to start production next spring and will be working with a script from Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

We don’t know what kind of plot Star Trek 4 will have, but I’m still hoping that they salvage some story elements from the previous film that were set up by writer Simon Pegg. With Kirk being so hung up about his father (Chris Hemsworth) the whole movie, Beyond seemed to be building up to the two meeting via some time-travel hijinks. With plans falling through (and Hemsworth walking away from the project), it looked like everything Beyond was building up to got cancelled.

Though the film did underperform, Beyond was still considered a great entry compared to Into Darkness. Personally, I thought the movie focused much better on the ensemble rather than just Kirk and Spock, and it gave us a very compelling story about the crew of the Enterprise wihout the Enterprise.

With a production start set for next year, it could be a while before we see Trek back in theaters. May guess is we could either have the film come out late 2023 or early 2024.

As of now, no official release date has been set for Star Trek 4.
