Just in, Focus has given us a new look at a remake of the first vampire movie ever made, and Eggers is sure to put his signature artistic flair on the movie. Check this out:

While a lot of fans were eager to have their first look at Bill Skarsgard in the full Count Orlok make up, the trailer still worked pretty hard to obscure him, and it’s possible that we may not be able to see Orlok in his full vampiric glory until the movie comes out in December.

Even if that was the case, the film still gives the spotlight to several A-listers in the movie including Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Emma Corrin, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

For context, Nosferatu was indeed an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s original Dracula, but since the filmmakers didn’t own the rights back in the 20s, they opted to just switch out the names of the characters—with Dracula becoming Orlok.

Despite the age of the film, Count’s Orlok’s original look still manages to keep its mark in pop-culture as an iconic movie monster design, with the hunched back, bald head, point ears, fangs, and long fingers.

He even managed to make a cameo in Spongebob Squarepants:

Here’s the official description for the movie:

“Robert Eggers’ NOSFERATU is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”

Watch out for Nosferatu when it releases in theaters on Dec. 25.

Robert Eggers Promises a Horror-Filled Christmas in New Teaser for Nosferatu https://www.geekfeed.com/horrorful-christmas-in-new-teaser-for-nosferatu/ Wed, 26 Jun 2024 13:39:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83051 Auteur director Robert Eggers is best known for his period horror dramas like The VVitch and The Northman, and now he’s set to make his own spin on one of the oldest adaptations of Bram Stoker’s infamous Dracula.

Here’s the first teaser for Nosferatu:

Here’s the official description:

Robert Eggers’ NOSFERATU is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.

Bill Skarsgard is set to star as the titular Count Orlok, but oddly enough, they didn’t even reveal his Nosferatu look for this teaser—no doubt it’s something they’re saving for the full trailer. Though Skarsgard is a now show, we do have a look at all the other big names showing up in the film including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, and Emma Corrin. The film also brings back some of Eggers’ previous collaborators including Ralph Ineson and Willem Dafoe.

If you’ve watched an Eggers flick before, you’ll know that he can definitely set a mood, and while his last film The Northman wasn’t really a horror tale, a story like Nosferatu can make perfect use of Eggers’ signature style.

With the movie set to release in December, it’s possible that we could get our first look at Count Orlok around August. A lot of hype has been surrounding Skarsgard’s final look in the film. Eggers has even said about the look, “I’ll say that Bill has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there.”

Catch Nosferatu when it drops in theatres this Christmas Dec. 25.

Robert Eggers on Bill Skargard’s Nosferatu Transformation, “He’s Not There” https://www.geekfeed.com/bill-skargards-nosferatu-transformation/ Wed, 29 Nov 2023 14:58:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79837 After The Lighthouse and The Northman, director Robert Eggers is set to come back to the horror genre with a modern remake of Nosferatu. We don’t have a look at Bill Skarsgard’s Count Orlok in costume yet, but Eggers does tease his transformation.

Talking to Empire, Eggers explains, “I’ll say that Bill has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there.” Though we’ve had many incarnations of Dracula over the decades with his slicked back hair and cape, Nosferatu manages to set himself apart with his more monstrous features with the huge hunched back, point ears, claws, bald head, and fangs.

Eggers continues to tease the look:

“I think the main thing is that he’s even more a folk vampire. In my opinion he looks like a dead Transylvanian nobleman, and in a way that we’ve never actually seen what an actual dead Transylvanian nobleman would look like and be dressed like.”

Though we don’t have a look at Skarsgard in costume yet, Empire has shared a first look at his co-star Lily-Rose Depp, who will be playing the part of Ellen Hunter, one of the main characters that Orlok will be terrorizing. Here’s a photo:

Nosferatu may be the titular character of the film, but Eggers did also say that this movie is “eben more Ellen’s story than previous versions,” adding that Depp is also ‘absolutely phenomenal’ in the film.

Now I can’t wait to see it.

Egger’s Nosferatu has no specific release date yet, but we should expect it to come out sometime in 2024.

The Weeknd Shares New Trailer for The Idol from Euphoria Creator https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-the-idol-from-euphoria-creator/ Sat, 03 Jun 2023 15:58:01 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77050 There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the making of HBO’s The Idol for the past few months, but after a premiere in Cannes, the series is now ready to come to Max. Just in, The Weeknd has shared a new trailer for The Idol and it promises an even more sexed-up version of Euphoria.

Watch this:

Here’s the official description for the series:

After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros, a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest, darkest, depths of her soul?

Admittedly, this preview is a bit tamer than the teasers we’ve gotten for the series before, but if you read all the reports that came out last March about how creator Sam Levinson had made the set chaotic, you kind of understand why they would want to dial things down to make audiences forget about how the series has been classified by some as ‘Torture Porn’.

So far, early reactions for the series have been highly negative, but if the internet has taught us anything, audience and critical reception are two completely different things. Maybe the critics may not jam with The Idol, but I’m sure that there are some Euphoria fans that would love to check out the show while they wait for Season 3 of ‘Riverdale for Cinephiles’.

The Idol premieres on Max on June 4.

HBO Drops New Trailer and Release Date for The Idol https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-and-release-date-for-the-idol/ Wed, 19 Apr 2023 08:24:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76373 Last March it was reported that Euphoria creator Sam Levinson was creating a chaotic set for HBO original series The Idol which has caused the project to be delayed multiple times; but despite that, it looks like the project is finally finished with HBO dropping a new trailer as well as a release date.

Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye shared this on his Youtube:

Here’s the description for the series:

A self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult enters a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol.

The trailer pretty much leans in on what we can expect from a series coming from Levinson. With Euphoria already taking it to the next level when it comes to portraying teen drama, we should expect things to get even dirtier with The Idol especially since we’re already looking at something of a modern-day cult.

I’ll admit, the Rolling Stone tell-all article did not put Levinson or this series in a good light, but with the popularity of Euphoria, you can bet that a lot of people are already interested to see what The Idol will bring to the table.

I’m honestly on the fence about the project; I mean, Levinson does create a very unique and artsy vibe with his series, but is it worth the long hours and suffering of the crew? I’m just hoping HBO will solve all these issues before things get out of hand when Euphoria 3 begins shooting.

The Idol is now set to release on HBO Max on June 4.

Euphoria Creator Allegedly Creating Chaotic Set for HBO’s The Idol https://www.geekfeed.com/euphoria-creator-creating-set-for-the-idol/ Fri, 03 Mar 2023 09:18:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73575 Euphoria is currently one of the biggest shows on HBO Max, and creator Sam Levinson was expected to release another, even raunchier series with The Idol starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye. So far, HBO has yet to give us a solid release date for the series, but as it turns out, things have apparently turned into a real shit show behind the scenes.

In a recent article from Rolling Stone, it has been revealed by several members of the crew that The Idol has been a nightmare for the production, and it’s all thanks to co-creators Sam Levinson and Abel Tesfaye. From what was expected to be the next Euphoria, the series has apparently been written and rewritten over and over again and has been reduced to what some are calling ‘Torture Porn.’

Members of the crew had been opening up about how director Amy Seimetz had left the project due to creative differences, and everything just started going downhill when Levinson had taken over and decided to do a massive overhaul of the story (which was allegedly 80 percent done).

It was also said that Tesfaye was also responsible for the change in the script because he felt the show as ‘heading to much into a ‘female perspective’’. The show was said to have originally featured a smart satirization of the current fame culture, but now it’s just being described as this male rape fantasy where the protagonist woman is happy to be used by a cult leader (played by Tesfaye).

if anything, this shouldn’t come as a surprise for some people who have been following the news for Euphoria. Levinson was also said to have made shooting that series difficult as well, coming into the set with no plans and stretching production more than it needs to.

What’s terrible is, since Euphoria is a hit, and the show makes money, it’s said that Levinson is free to do whatever he wants, and HBO won’t really do anything about it. One source said, “I got the vibe that the mood on set was, ‘What’s HBO gonna do, pull the plug? Yeah, right. If they want a third season of Euphoria, they’ll give me what I want… We’re just gonna shoot what we want and if [HBO execs] have a problem with it, that’s their problem.’”

As of now, there is still no release date for HBO’s The Idol.

New Trailer for The Idol Touts Star-Studded Cast https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-the-idol-touts-star-studded-cast/ Mon, 22 Aug 2022 08:12:07 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70663 The next season of Euphoria may not be coming out yet, but Sam Levinson has teamed up with HBO and The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) for a completely different, sexed-up show.

The Idol is expected to come out sometime later this year, and we have a new teaser showcasing the series’ star-studded ensemble. Check this out:

Here’s also the short tagline for the series:

A self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult(Tesfaye) enters a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol (Lily-Rose Depp).

We don’t know how large the roles of the other cast members are, but I have to say I was pretty surprised that Hank Azaria found his way into a Sam Levinson series. Who’d have thought that the guy who voices Moe and many other characters from The Simpsons would end up collaborating with the Euphoria guy.

We don’t really know how the series is going to go down, but based on the preview and what we’ve seen from Euphoria, it’s very likely we’re going to have an over-sexualized setting with some very striking visuals and immersive, atmospheric music.

So far we’ve only had two teasers for The Idol, but we’ve yet to get a full trailer. If the series is expected to come out later this year, then HBO should do well to drop a new preview soon.

No release date has been set for The Idol, but it’s expected to come to HBO Max sometime later this year.
