Just in, Gunn has shared a new image of Superman and Krypto from the movie, and shares how he came up with an arc for the alien dog. Check this out:

As it turns out, Gunn got the idea of adding Krypto to the script after adopting his new dog named Ozu. Ozu apparently was rescued from a hoarder’s nest and was a bit of a problem dog for a while, but it eventually warmed up to Gunn and his home.

So far, depictions of Krypto have been pretty much just presented a dog that had Superman’s personality, but it would be interesting to see a version of him that doesn’t start out good, but was eventually influenced by Superman to be a more peaceful creature.

After the disappointing box office of Joker: Folie a Deux, the pressure is now on for Gunn to deliver with his Superman movie. We don’t know exactly how he plans to flesh out this world yet, but it does look like David Corenswet’s Superman is going to be thrust into a world that’s already rife with superheroes like Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern.

With a release set for July, it will probably be a while before we get a first look at the film. Fingers crossed we get a teaser before the year ends.

Superman soars into theatres on July 11, 2025.
