Too bad for anyone waiting though, because it looks like Lucasfilm won’t be pushing forward with the show.

Talking to Collider, series head Justin Simien has confirmed that the series has been cancelled despite going into deep development over the past few years. Simien explains, “It was pretty developed. Yeah, there was a Bible, there was concept art, there were scripts, but it just wasn’t meant to be.”

We don’t know specifically why Lucasfilm would decide to shelve the project, but Simien does say that he’s taking the cancellation pretty hard. He continues, “For me, the answer is that you have to really face it. It is true grief. I’ve never had a child, I’ve never lost a child, but it’s what I imagine that pain might be like. You pour so much of your heart and soul into something, but ultimately, you don’t have control over whether it lives or dies, and it is a true grieving process.”

So far, Star Wars has been kind of in the same boat as Marvel in that they’ve been trying to throw noodles at a wall and waiting to see what sticks. Though we get some great shows like Andor, there have also been some duds like The Book of Boba Fett and the Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff (which I insist should have been a film).

Who knows, maybe Lucasfilm will decide to revisit the Lando series someday, but with Glover being as busy as he is, they may have to wait a few more years. I wouldn’t say no to a movie instead.

For now, the recent Star Wars series, The Acolyte has just completed its first season and is now available to stream on Disney+.

Star Wars: Donald Glover Says He’s Still in Talks to Reprise Lando Calrissian https://www.geekfeed.com/star-wars-glover-still-in-talks-to-reprise-lando/ Mon, 10 Apr 2023 05:12:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76175 Donald Glover had played Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and though rumors have been going around that he’s going to be working on a spinoff, we haven’t had any official updates.

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine though, Glover has confirmed that he’s still in talks for returning as Lando, but the project will have to be the ‘right one’. Check this out:

In Solo, we meet Lando while he was still the captain of the Millennium Falcon, and by the end of the film, we get to see how Han swindles the ship out of Lando’s grasp (to be fair, Lando himself was also a swindler). You can check out their interaction here:

Though Solo did underperform in the box office, time has revealed that the failure of the film really wasn’t with the quality of the movie at all, but rather with the poor marketing, with Disney pitting the film against Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. A lot of fans online believe that the film would have done way better if Disney just allowed Lucasfilm to push it back to December of that year.

Either way, there is a #MakeSolo2Happen movement on Twitter, and there has been more love for the movie over time. Though I would love for Glover’s Lando to make a return, I was actually a bigger fan of Alden Ehrenreich’s take on a young Han Solo.

A Lando spinoff hasn’t gotten any updates from Lucasfilm, but you can check Glover out in Solo: A Star Wars Story now streaming on Disney+.

Luke and Lando Team Up in Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith https://www.geekfeed.com/luke-and-lando-team-up-in-star-wars-shadow-of-the-sith/ Sat, 26 Mar 2022 17:07:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64596 Luke Skywalker’s story may have ended with the Sequel Trilogy, but the Jedi master is set to have an adventure of his own in the upcoming novel Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith by author Adam Christopher.

StarWars.com just revealed the cover:

Luke and Lando on the cover of Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith.

Here’s the synopsis as well:

It’s like something from a dream.

Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is haunted by visions of the dark side, foretelling an ominous secret growing somewhere in the depths of space, on a dead world called Exegol. The disturbance in the Force is undeniable and Luke’s worst fears are confirmed when his old friend Lando Calrissian comes to him with reports of a new Sith menace.

The story essentially stems from plot points in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, with Luke looking for the planet Exegol. TROS is also where Lando Calrissian reveals that he was with Luke on his mission to find Ochi of Bestoon—no doubt we’ll be returning to the world of Pasaana.

With a lot of people thinking that TROS pulled too much out of nowhere, this is exactly where the expanded universe comes in to fill in the blanks. Personally, I would love to see a story that focuses on the Sequel Trilogy characters, but I’m holding out for the hope that Lucasfilm has bigger plans for the future, that’s why they just keep coming to the eras of the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War.

Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher becomes available on June 28.
