@TFHypeGuy has been getting a lot of attention on the Twitter-sphere for their audacious takes in promoting Transformers One, even going so far as to make fun of other movies that have been getting poor reviews like Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie a Deux.

Their posts have been getting thousands of likes on Twitter, and they’ve even made fun of other artists that aren’t promoting a movie:

Not even former president Joe Biden is safe from his marketing tactics:

For now, it looks like the page’s goal is just to make sure that the film breaks even, ensuring a sequel. One of their requests is to have Paramount delay the film’s digital release until November at least—allowing for good word-of-mouth for the movie to spread—which it already is.

The Streamr has even gone so far as to write an article about him (but Paramount has yet to reach out):

We don’t know if hype alone from this account is enough to get butts in seats, but if The Substance and Joker 2 are considered to be too artsy for your tastes, maybe a Transformers movie would be the perfect time in the cinema. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry are great as Optimus Prime and Megatron, and it’s a great return to animation for a retro franchise like Transformers.

If it still needs to be said, Transformers One is now out in theatres.

Optimus and Megatron Join a Race in New Clip from Transformers One https://www.geekfeed.com/a-race-in-new-clip-from-transformers-one/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 14:16:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83931 The Transformers franchise may have blown up in the box office with the live-action movies, but Paramount is going back to form with an animated origin movie called Transformers One.

The movie is set to release in September, and we have a new clip which has Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) and D-16 (Megatron) joining a race filled with transformers. Check this out:

Based on the clip, it does look like the world of Cybertron has a class hierarchy, and Orion and D-16 are at the bottom of it as miners. Based on previous trailers it does look like the ability to transform with the robots is going to be a kind of privilege/rite-of-passage, that’s why so many people are amazed that the miners joined the race without even being able to transform.

With a call for a Cybertron-centric movie going around the fanbase for a while, Transformers One feels like it’s going to finally focus on the arc of solely the transformers as compared to previous movies where there has to be a human story shoehorned in.

Based on early reviews for the film, a lot of fans have been digging Transformers One, and this is sure to be a great entry for the franchise as more fans wait for the sequel to Rise of the Beasts. We haven’t gotten an update on that G.I. Joe crossover for a year, but hopefully One will be able to sustain interest in robots in disguise until Paramount is ready to drop an update.

Transformers One comes to cinemas on Sept. 20.

Optimus Prime and Megatron are Brothers in Latest Trailer for Transformers One https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-transformers-one-released/ Tue, 20 Aug 2024 07:24:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83791 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts may be setting up for a crossover with the G.I. Joe franchise, but while we wait for updates on that, Paramount is going to be releasing an animated prequel called Transformers One.

The film is set to come out next month, and we have a new trailer showcasing the brotherhood and eventual rivalry of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Check this out:

With the human element of the Transformers movies usually considered to be the weakest part, this animated film looks to do away with the human element and finally give fans a full story set in the world of Cyberton.

Though it’s expected that this movie is going to be in its own timeline, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it so that this would also be taking place around the same timeline as Bumblebee. After all, the rebooted films have yet to tell the new origin of their Megatron.

Then again, the films have kind of become pretty jumbled with the continuity, so it’s probably best for Transformers One to just pave its own retelling of the Autobots/Decepticons story. So far, early reactions have been said to be great, and the live-action movies may have found a run for its money when it comes to storytelling quality.

TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.

Transformers One rolls out into theaters on Sept. 20.

Optimus and Megatron Attempt to Transform in New Clip from Animated Transformers One https://www.geekfeed.com/new-clip-from-animated-transformers-one/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 11:29:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83333 Transformers may not be as huge a franchise as compared to when Michael Bay was directing the movies, but it looks like Paramount is going back to basics with the animated film Transformers One.

Thanks to the Kids’ Choice Awards, we have a new clip from the movie, and it reveals Optimus, Megatron, Arcee, and Bumblebee transforming for the first time. Check this out:

It’s unclear exactly how the lore works in the Transformers franchise, but it looks like the robots didn’t have the ability to turn into vehicles in the first place, and we get to see them do that for the first time here.

When it comes to the live-action movies, there have been fans who have been calling for just a cybertron-set movie with no human characters, and it looks like Transformers One is going to attempt to scratch that itch.

I have to admit, I preferred that the keep to the aesthetic of the new timeline established by Bumblebee, but I am willing to give a chance to this new G1-inspired look for Optimus and the rest.

With no hints at Megatron returning in live-action, I would very much love to see his drama with Optimus play out in some way, and these animated movies could be the best place for one of pop-culture’s most iconic rivalries.

TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.

Watch out for Transformers One when it releases in theaters on September 20.

Release Date for The Super Mario Bros. Movie Pushed Up https://www.geekfeed.com/super-mario-bros-movie-pushed-up/ Fri, 03 Mar 2023 09:16:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73572 A lot of fans have expressed their excitement for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and it looks like the studio is willing to make the wait a little more bearable.

As per the official announcement, the Super Mario movie has been pushed up by two days, and has been moved from its release on April 7 to April 5. Check this out:

We don’t have any specific reasons as to why the film was pushed forward, but I can imagine that this could come as a relief for some die-hard fans who want to watch the movie on the first day. Maybe the cinema won’t be as crowded on Wednesday as compared to the crowds that could be expected on a weekend premiere. Then again, I’m just guessing.

So far, it seems that this movie has been showing fans exactly what they want to see out of a Mario movie. The characters are colorful, and the Mushroom Kingdom looks to be magical and vibrant; not to mention there’s all kinds of easter eggs that come from decades of Super Mario games.

Admittedly, the marketing is still being very sparing of Chris Pratt’s Mario voice. There was immense backlash online when it was announced that Charles Marinet won’t be providing the voice like he has in the games, but I think Pratt will do a good job making Mario more of an everyman character.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now set to release on April 5.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Gets a Colorful New Poster https://www.geekfeed.com/the-super-mario-bros-movie-gets-a-colorful-new-poster/ Fri, 10 Feb 2023 06:52:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73335 Move over Sonic the Hedgehog, because another video game mascot is looking to dominate movie theaters later this year. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to come out in April, and we have a colorful new poster that gives us a look at all the characters in the Mushroom Kingdom.

Check this out:

This movie just continues to amaze when it comes to visuals alone. Not only do all the colors in the movie really pop, but they’ve also managed to capture the original design of the characters in the game while updating their look for modern animated films.

Even the characterization for everyone is fun. Jack Black’s Bowser looks pretty damn menacing, and they’ve made Princess Peach an actual leader of her people. I also kind of love how Chris Pratt’s Mario came out. He doesn’t have the cartoon voice, but it does sound like they gave him that Italian-American accent; Luigi is also pretty loveable as Mario’s cowardly brother.

With Super Mario having endured all these years with the games, I’m excited to see Illumination try to bring this story to life on the big screen. I’ll admit, I’m not a fan of those Minion movies, but based on what we’ve seen in the trailers, The Super Mario Bros. Movie could be a step up when it comes to video game adaptations.

A plumber named Mario travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother, Luigi, trying to save a captured princess.

The Super Mario Bros Movie comes to cinemas on April 7.

The Mushroom Kingdom Comes to Life in Clip from The Super Mario Bros. Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/super-mario-bros-movie-clip-released/ Mon, 12 Dec 2022 09:02:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72418 Wahoo! After a fresh new trailer drop a week ago, the Game Awards has opted for Nintendo and Illumination Stidios to give a new look at the Super Mario Bros. Movie, and we have a new clip of Mario being introduced to the Mushroom Kingdom.

The clip basically teases how much of the original game they were able to squeeze into the film.  You can see the Mushroom people getting coins from boxes like Mario does, and the town is just filled with floating platforms and bricks which are also precariously placed. They even found a way to incorporate the Super Mario background music into the score.

Since Mario is a plumber, we also get to see him excited about the pipes in the world. Admittedly, he doesn’t fix those kinds of pipes, but the movie has managed to make them a means of travel for the Mushroom People—hence we get to see Mario travelling in them as well.

A lot of flak has been thrown at the film ever since they announced Chris Pratt was going to be Mario, but based on what we’ve seen, I think Illumination and Nintendo have built a film that both fans of the original and newcomers will love. I think the Mario franchise has managed to last so long with as minimal context as possible, so you have to hand it to the movie for actually adding some context to the film without it looking too silly.

Catch The Super Mario Bros. Movie when it hits cinemas on April 7, 2023.

Chris Pratt is Mario in the Super Mario Bros. Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-pratt-is-mario-in-the-super-mario-movie/ Fri, 07 Oct 2022 15:26:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71482 Before we get Chris Pratt as Garfield on the big screen, the Guardians of the Galaxy star is going to be voicing video game icon Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. As promised earlier this week, we now have our first teaser for the film, and though it doesn’t have a lot of Mario, it does show us the power of Jack Black’s Bowser.

Watch the teaser trailer for the Super Mario movie down here:

The trailer actually starts by introducing us to Bowser, and we discover that he’s after Super Stars. In the games, the stars have the power to turn you invincible, and maybe Bowser is looking for them in order to become unstoppable as he takes over the Mushroom Kingdom.

Enter Mario, who seems to be a stranger in this land, and he’s immediately joined by Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) who is a local resident of the kingdom. We also see Luigi getting chased down by some Dry Bones. We don’t know how he ends up in the Mushroom Kingdom, but I suspect that Mario and Luigi will have their own parallel stories before they team-up for the finale against Bowser.

With the Super Mario games not really being reliant on its story, I’m hoping that the film manages to bring all of these elements together to make one cohesive world. Then again, I think the most important thing is just making sure the characters work. If the Illumination movies have taught us anything with Minions, you don’t really need a good story to make a successful film; just some very saleable characters—and who’s more saleable than Mario and friends?

Catch The Super Mario Bros. Movie when it hits theaters April 7, 2023.

Wendell & Wild: Stop-Motion is Back from Coraline Director https://www.geekfeed.com/wendell-wild-from-coraline-director/ Thu, 08 Sep 2022 13:32:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70972 Everyone is eagerly waiting for Guillermo del Toro’s animated Pinocchio film coming to Netflix this December, but the streaming service has another stop-motion-animated movie from director Henry Selick.

Watch the trailer for Wendell & Wild:

Here’s the official description:

From the delightfully wicked minds of Henry Selick (director of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline) and Jordan Peele (Nope, Us, Get Out) comes the story of Kat (Lyric Ross), a troubled teen haunted by her past, who must confront her personal demons, Wendell & Wild (played by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele) to start a new life in her old hometown. Wendell & Wild also stars Angela Bassett, James Hong, and Ving Rhames.

Admittedly a lot of people forget that Selick was the actual director of Nightmare Before Christmas, but everyone just really associates that film with Tim Burton. If anything, this movie looks and feels a lot like his previous work, and if I could make a guess, it feels like an animated take on Beetlejuice, only this time, there’s two of him.

I have to say, it’s also great to see Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key working together from time to time. Though the two have started to branch out, working on different projects by themselves, they still make the time to bring out that winning chemistry of theirs—even if it’s just voiceover work.

Wendell & Wild comes to Netflix this Halloween season Oct. 28.

Washed-Up Actors Reunite in Trailer for ‘Reboot’ https://www.geekfeed.com/washed-up-actors-reunite-in-trailer-for-reboot/ Mon, 29 Aug 2022 17:46:03 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70769 We know all about classic shows from the 80s and 90s getting modern-day sequel reboots, and Hulu has decided to greenlight a series that makes fun of that exact trend.

Here’s the official trailer for Reboot starring Johnny Knoxville, Keegan-Michael Key, Judy Greer, and Rachel Bloom:

Here’s the story description:

A dysfunctional cast is forced back together and must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.

The series has been described as a ‘show-within-a-show’ and comes from Modern Family co-creator Steven Levitan. While MF did give us a look at sitcom of an actual family, this series is going to be more meta when it comes to the cast and crew, which will serve as Reboot’s classic dysfunctional family.

I have to say, you got to hand it to Paul Reiser. After brief appearances in hit shows like Stranger Things and The Boys this year, it’s amazing he was able to make an appearance in this series as well. Then again, Reboot has managed to nab a star-studded cast. I guess you can expect that when you have the co-creator of one of the most celebrated modern sitcoms at the helm.

Reboot looks like a fun time, and with the great cast, I’m sure everyone is in for a laugh. While I do expect some classic slapstick from Knoxville, I’m hoping they keep things safe for him. It’s a miracle he survived Jackass Forever.

Reboot streams on Hulu this coming Sept. 20.

Meet the Voices Behind Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers in New Featurette https://www.geekfeed.com/meet-the-voices-behind-chip-n-dale-rescue-rangers-in-new-featurette/ Thu, 19 May 2022 14:28:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65286 Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers has managed to nab an all-star cast to appear in the film, and though they are only providing voices, we have a new trailer that actually shows us all of the actors in the booths while they record their lines.

Watch the Chip ‘n Dale featurette down here:

We’ve known for a while that John Mulaney and Andy Samberg were at the center of this movie, but this time we have a look at Erica Bana, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, and Keegan-Michael Key. I guess they didn’t have time in the teaser to give us a look at other actors in the movie like Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Will Arnett (BoJack Horseman).

I have to say, the film actually has a pretty interesting concept and is clearly drawing inspiration from the world of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It’s kind of a shame that we won’t be able to see the movie in theaters, but if things go well for this release, maybe the sequel could be the one hitting the big screen.

In “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers,” Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different now. It has been decades since their successful television series was canceled, and Chip (voice of Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (voice of Sandberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former castmate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers premieres on Disney+ on May 20.

New Trailer for Judd Apatow’s The Bubble has Action Stars Go Quarantine Crazy https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-judd-apatows-the-bubble-has-action-stars-go-quarantine-crazy/ Wed, 09 Mar 2022 06:58:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64375 The pandemic has affected all kinds of industries, none less than the Hollywood, and there have been several kinds of new precautions taken just to keep cameras rolling. Apparently, Judd Apatow realized that it was a good premise for a comedy, and now we have a trailer for Netflix’s The Bubble.

Watch the trailer for The Bubble down here:

Here’s the official synopsis:

The Bubble is a comedy about a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a sequel to an action franchise film about flying dinosaurs.

With all the stories that had come out during the height of quarantine in 2020, it’s going to be interesting to see just how things play out in this film. While we may have found some distance from 2020 now, it sure felt pretty apocalyptic at the time where absolutely no one was allowed to go out, and everything had to be shut down.

The film has actually had some interesting marketing, with Netflix releasing featurette’s for Cliff Beasts 6, the fictional movie that the characters in The Bubble are trying to make. If anything, it’s a commentary on blockbuster franchises as a whole, and you can imagine that Cliff Beasts was a jab at Jurassic World, which also had to shoot in the middle of COVID.

I’ll admit, Apatow hasn’t made a hit as big as 40-Year-Old Virgin in a while, but I’m expecting this film to come with the same heart and comedy that he’s known for.

Catch The Bubble when it premieres on Netflix on April 1.

Chris Pratt Leads Star-Studded Cast of Super Mario Film https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-pratt-leads-star-studded-cast-of-super-mario-film/ Fri, 24 Sep 2021 16:59:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61660 Chris Pratt has certainly gone a long way from Parks and Recreation and has found himself as a lead of several blockbuster properties from Jurassic World to The LEGO Movie. Now he’s been cast in another big animated property from Illumination.

As announced by Shigeru Miyamoto himself, Pratt will be leading the star-studded cast of an animated Super Mario Bros. movie. Here’s the announcement from Nintendo Direct 2021:

Alongside Pratt will be Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Jack Black (Bowser).

The film will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and will be using a script from The LEGO Movie 2 and Minions writer Matthew Fogel.

Admittedly, a lot of Super Mario fans were disappointed that longtime voice actor of Mario, Charles Martinet, wasn’t cast in the lead role, but seeing as how the industry is, it would make sense that they would want some big-name stars to draw in audience members who aren’t familiar with the franchise in the first place. Miyamoto says:

“We are collaborating with [Illumination head Chris Meledandri] and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game.”

Though fans were able to get Sonic the Hedgehog redesigned, I don’t think the same could be said for the cast of Mario. Hopefully they bring in Martinet for a cameo role.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros film is set to come out on Dec. 21, 2022.

New Musical Series Schmigadoon! Gets First Look https://www.geekfeed.com/new-musical-series-schmigadoon-gets-first-look/ Wed, 14 Jul 2021 11:40:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60506 Lorne Michaels has always been delivering some Broadway-inspired material from 30 Rock to The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and now he’s teamed up with Apple TV for a show called Schmigadoon!.

Here’s the first look for Schmigadoon!. Check out the trailer down here:

The story follows a troubled couple played by Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key who go on a backpacking trip, only to find themselves stuck in a magical town straight out of a 1940’s musical. They both discover that they can’t leave the town, and the only way out is to find ‘true love.’

The show has a star-studded cast from Alan Cumming to Kristin Chenowith. Other cast members include Dove Cameron, Fred Armisen, Ariana DeBose, and Jane Krakowski. The series is also directed and executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld, who is the same man behind the helm of the Series of Unfortunate Events adaptation on Netflix as well as the Men in Black films.

Schmigadoon!  is considered to be some kind of love letter to Broadway, and parodies several musicals from The Music Man to Oklahoma!. Despite being an ode to the more a more optimistic and cartoon-y era of entertainment, the show also seeks to delve into the darker sides of the genre. Creator Cinco Paul describes the show:

“We’re celebrating the musicals, but we’re using this as an opportunity to deconstruct them and sort of comment on things that are were maybe problematic, and make them better.”

Schmigadoon! Is a limited series and will run for only six episodes. The show premieres on Apple TV this July 16.
