Check out the first look at The Studio starring Seth Rogen:

Here’s the official description for the series:

In The Studio, Rogen stars as the newly appointed head of a movie studio, Continental Studios. Desperate for the approval of celebrities, he and his team of executives at Continental Studios must juggle corporate demands with creative ambitions as they try to keep movies alive and relevant.

The series is executive produced by Rogen’s longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg, and is said to be a 10-episode half-hour comedy.

Besides Rogen, the series has managed to gather a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Bryan Cranston. The trailer also teases some big stars like incoming Captain America Anthony Mackie as well as previous Rogen collaborators Zac Efron and Charlize Theron.

There’s even a small scene there with Mythbusters fan-favorite Adam Savage.

Funnily enough, this series does feel somewhat like HBO’s recent comedy The Franchise which also looked to make fun of the big movie making industry while questioning if cinema is dying. Despite the comparison though, it does look like The Studio is its own unique flavor of storytelling—and it doesn’t hurt that they managed to gather a lot of A-listers to make an appearance.

Martin freakin’ Scorsese is in this series. Imagine the cameos that didn’t make it to the trailer.

The Studio is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025.

Watch: Parks and Recreation Reunion at the Agatha All Along Premiere https://www.geekfeed.com/parks-and-recreation-reunion-agatha-all-along/ Fri, 20 Sep 2024 10:01:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84346 Agatha All Along comes out this week, and it does feature a small Parks and Recreation reunion for Kathryn Hahn (Jennifer Barkley) and Aubrey Plaza (April Ludgate). What’s fun is, the premiere of the series actually featured some more Parks cast reuniting.

Check out Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope) and Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt) meeting up with Hahn and Plaza at the red (rather purple) carpet:

Admittedly, Hahn was more of a recurring character on the series, but the main cast members were able to get a photo of just the three of them:

When it comes to the four cast members, it is worth noting that Plaza has spent her time the longest with Marvel, as she had been cast in FX’s Legion series even way before the Fox merger. Hahn has been onboard since WandaVision, and Scott was cast as Ben Parker (not officially) in Sony’s Madame Web.

Let’s also not forget that one of Marvel’s biggest stars, Chris Pratt, was in Parks and Recreation as the loveable idiot Andy Dwyer before he became Star-Lord:

So far, Poehler is the only one in the mini-reunion who hasn’t jumped the Marvel ship, but she’s doing pretty well being the voice of Joy in Pixar’s hit franchise Inside Out. I wouldn’t mind if they cast her as a Captain Marvel variant because she can definitely be Brie Larson’s older sister.

For now, fans are waiting to see just how Agatha All Along pans out. It definitely is embracing its camp and attuning to its intended audience, but there’s always a chance some ‘anti-woke’ fans will review-bomb it to hell.

Let’s hope the gays won’t let that happen.

Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ this week.

D23 Expo Reveals ‘The Ballad of the Witches’ Road’ from Agatha All Along https://www.geekfeed.com/ballad-of-the-witches-road-from-agatha-all-along/ Thu, 15 Aug 2024 10:04:31 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83751 Fans still can’t make heads or tails of what exactly to expect from the Agatha All Along series, but it’s slowly starting to look like there’s going to be a clear musical element to the show.

At the D23 Expo, we got to listen to The Ballad of the Witches’ Road which was also performed and sang by the cast members with Kathryn Hahn in the lead. Check this out:

Here are the lyrics to the song:

Marching ever forward neath the wooded shrine, I stray not from the path.

I hold death’s hand in mine. Primal night, give it sight…

Familiar by thy side. If sun be gone, we carry on. Spirit as our guide.

Down, down, down the road… Down the witches road…

Blood and tears and bone… Maiden, mother, crone.

The road is wild and wicked, winding through the wood.

Where all that’s wrong is right, and all that’s bad is good.

Through many miles of twisted trials, we wander high and low.

Take your fears, a door appears… The time has come to go.

Down, down, down the road… Down the witches road…

Follow me, my friend, to glory at the end.

Though the performance features most of the principal cast of Agatha All Along including Patti LuPone, Debra Jo Rupp, Joe Locke, Ali Ahn, and Sasheer Zamata; one missing cast member from the performance is Aubrey Plaza, who fans are expecting is the main villain of the series.

The story still hasn’t been completely spelled out, but it does look like Agatha and her Coven are going to be heading down the Witches’ Road to help her get out of the hex that Wanda trapped her in back in the first season of WandaVision.

It feels a lot like the plot for Wizard of Oz, but it also looks like the show is going to be parodying several kinds of horror genres with references to shows like Mare of Easttown and Evil Dead.

The first two episodes of Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ on Sept. 18.

It’s a Coven of Chaos in First Teaser for Agatha All Along https://www.geekfeed.com/chaos-in-first-teaser-for-agatha-all-along/ Thu, 11 Jul 2024 09:50:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83227 Fans were starting to feel sceptical about the Agatha Harkness spinoff series since we barely got updates on the show, but Marvel has dropped a first teaser, and Agatha All Along has piqued the interest of fans.

Check this out:

The synopsis for the series reads:

“The infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road.”

With WandaVision paying tribute to the evolution of sitcoms, it looks like Agatha All Along will be doing the same thing, but with the evolution of the horror genre. The teaser starts out with what seems to be a parody of the murder/mystery Mare of Easttown, but then we get visuals and callbacks to other horror projects like Suspiria, Candyman, The Exorcist, and Evil Dead.

Going back to the synopsis though, fans are suspecting that the teen that helps Agatha get out of the spell in Billy Maximoff a.k.a. one of Wanda Maximoff’s kids. In the comics, he’s the young Avenger Wiccan and he’s a gifted magic user. It’s also worth noting that Billy is gay, and based on how fans are seeing Joe Locke in the trailer, they can definitely tell that he’s more on the feminine side of things.

Hopefully the show will also confirm that Wanda definitely survived the events of Doctor Strange 2. But for now, fans will just have to wait and see what happens.

Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ on Sept. 18.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Gets a Star-Studded First Teaser https://www.geekfeed.com/glass-onion-a-knives-out-mystery-first-teaser/ Fri, 09 Sep 2022 08:21:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70985 This December will see Rian Johnson coming back to the Knives Out universe with Glass Onion, and after months of stills and interviews, we finally have our first teaser starring Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, and more.

Watch the teaser for Glass Onion down here:

The official description reads:

You’re invited to put the pieces together. In the follow-up to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.

Though the first movie had Blanc playing a pseudo-antagonist to Ana de Armas’ main character Marta, it’s said that this sequel will actually have Blanc front and center this time. I am curious as to who could be playing the part of Marta this time.

While murder-mysteries kind of have their own formula throughout the evolution of the genre, you have to comment Johnson for trying to add his own twist on the whodunit story. I mean, Knives Out didn’t even play out like a normal murder-mystery film, but elements of the genre were still there, and it was pretty fun just connecting the dots. The movie even managed to continue being exciting after the main villain of the film was revealed.

We don’t know how Glass Onion is going to play out, but knowing Johnson’s penchant for subverting expectations, I’m all in for another ride.

Catch Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery when it comes to Netflix this Dec. 23.

Knives Out Sequel Finally Gets Release Window https://www.geekfeed.com/rian-johnsons-knives-out-sequel-gets-release-window/ Mon, 24 Jan 2022 15:14:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63609 Daniel Craig may have said goodbye to 007 with No Time to Die, but he’s set to reprise another fun role—that of Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson’s upcoming Knives Out 2. We know the film has been shooting for a while, and the great news is, we have a release window.

Variety reports that the sequel to Knives Out is expected to hit Netflix in the last quarter of 2022. We don’t have any specific release date yet, but it’s speculated that it’s eyeing a release at an upcoming film festival.

As of now, we don’t know what the plot of the Knives Out sequel could be, but we should expect Benoit Blanc to once again be on the case to solve… something. If Rian Johnson is known for anything, it’s trying to subvert expectations, and it would just be too boring if this turned out to be another whodunit.

That being said, the first one was a fun subversion of the whodunit genre, so maybe the sequel could be a tribute to another genre of movies as well?

Craig is the only returning cast member from the first film, but Johnson has managed to assemble another star-studded cast for the sequel. This time around, the movie will have a cast list which includes Kathryn Hahn, Ethan Hawke, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monae, Edward Norton, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, and Leslie Odom Jr. Even if we do have a new cast, I would love a small update on Ana de Armas’ character from the first movie.

No official release date has been set for the Knives Out sequel, but expect it to hit Netflix near the end of 2022.

Rian Johnson has Wrapped the Knives Out Sequel https://www.geekfeed.com/rian-johnson-has-wrapped-the-knives-out-sequel/ Tue, 14 Sep 2021 13:45:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61468 Though some fans of The Last Jedi were eager to see him take on his next Star Wars project, director Rian Johnson has pushed ahead to helm a sequel to his original film, Knives Out. The film has just wrapped, and Johnson has announced it online.

Here’s the post from Johnson:

As of now, we don’t know what the plot of the film is, but some are expecting another murder-mystery with Benoit Blanc on the case. With Johnson’s penchant for subverting expectations though, we should expect something a bit more different this time around when it comes to story.

If I were to guess, Johnson could be paying homage to another genre this time around. With the first film being a ‘whodunit’ type of story, I’m guessing that the sequel could be alluding to another story trope. What about a heist film?

As someone who really liked The Last Jedi, it’s great to see Johnson has kept working. With Johnson becoming a lightning rod for toxic members of the Star Wars fandom, I’m hoping he can get back to SW soon, as I thought he really dug deep and understood the core concepts of the franchise.

Besides Daniel Craig coming back to reprise the role of Benoit Blanc, the movie has gathered quite the cast. The list includes actors like Jessica Henwick, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, and Ethan Hawke.

No release date has been set for the Knives Out sequel, but the film is expected to come out sometime in 2022.

Are Fans Overanalyzing Disney’s Small Update on WandaVision? https://www.geekfeed.com/are-fans-overanalyzing-disneys-small-update-on-wandavision/ Tue, 29 Jun 2021 08:15:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60270 After Disney had done a color correction upgrade on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans have been on the lookout for any more sneaky edits on Disney+. As it turns out, there was one done on the post-credits of WandaVision.

Check this analysis of the WandaVision out:

While it’s only a matter of making the trees a lot greener, fans are going crazy over this silhouette that’s supposedly making its way toward Wanda’s cabin. Some are already speculating that this could be an astral projection by Doctor Strange, but personally, I think it’s just some side-effect from the recent edit. I have a feeling it’s going to be removed down the line, but if Disney addresses it in the Doctor Strange sequel, I would definitely would be pleased.

Following the MCU’s pattern on Easter Eggs, this one feels too vague to be deliberate. Teasers for the Infinity Gauntlet in Phase 1 have been clear and in plain sight, and the tease for Spider-Man in Ant-Man was also specific dialogue. This bit doesn’t feel like any of that, that’s why I don’t feel like anyone should take this ‘projection’ thing too seriously.

Either way, Marvel is very welcome to prove me wrong.

While a very minor character in the Infinity Saga, Wanda Maximoff has gotten the spotlight she deserved in WandaVision, and fans are excited for her to go all-out on her Chaos Magic in the Doctor Strange sequel. Let’s hope that the Sorcerer Supreme will have his work cut out for him.

Catch WandaVision now available on Disney+. Wanda Maximoff (and hopefully Vision) will return in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness which is slated for a release on March 23, 2022.
