The official description reads:
On a trip to her hometown, workaholic Ally reminisces with her ex Sean and starts to question everything about the person she’s become. Things only get more confusing when she meets Cassidy, who reminds her of the person she used to be.
What’s funny is the bit about Ally being a former nudist because Brie herself had shared a story about going to a nudist college and sometimes going jogging without clothes on. While I suspect that bit will only be one scene in the film, it feels like Amazon’s marketing team really wants to lean in on the image of Brie running around naked.
I guess it’s also worth noting that Brie is reunited with her Community co-star Danny Pudi in the film. With the Community movie allegedly moving forward, it’s great to see the two sharing a scene again before they’re reunited with everyone else from the cast. I just hope that Dan Harmon manages to deliver a heartfelt film that stays true to the meta nature of the series.
Going back to Brie though, she’s been starring in some more artsy projects like Horse Girl and Promising Young Woman lately, so it could be refreshing to see her in a more generally appealing romance film. Then again, maybe Somebody I Used to Know is something else entirely.
Catch Somebody I Used to Know when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Feb. 10.
